Located inside the Kuhio Avenue Food Hall in the International Marketplace. Five stars for the portion sizes given the pricing. Four stars for the food. For $23 you can get a massive combo plate with all their smoked meats. I'd highly recommend getting this for first time visitors. It's probably big enough to feed two people. Here's my take on each item: - Baby Back Ribs: Great seasoning, nice crust, but overcooked. Parts of it were quite tough. - Kalbi Short Ribs: Solid marinade and nicely seared. There was even some pink on the inside! The tendon was a bit tough, probably needs to marinate for longer to break it down. - Beef Brisket: Great rub and crust. Fatty parts were juicy and super delicious. Lean parts were dry. Would have loved a bit more intramuscular fat. - Spicy Sausage: One of the best smoked sauces I've ever had. Super juicy and not too spicy. They also provide BBQ sauce and/or teriyaki sauce with your order. I wish they provided separate dipping containers, but instead they just brush the sauces on to the meats that you specify. If you're craving BBQ and able to drive out a bit, I'd highly recommend trying Sunset Texas Barbecue. You really can't beat the convenience of Chee Hoo if you're staying in Waikiki though. I'd say it's probably the best Southern style barbecue spot in the area. read more

I've had better bbq, my take on this place, I had the combo plate. The brisket I felt was choice cut, I smoke brisket and I'm really good at it and when you get choice it's hard to keep the lean juicy and the brisket I had here the lean was not juicy. The Mac n cheese was good but lacked flavor. I did not care for the beans at all I'm not a big kimchee fan and I thought it was just going to be normal beans it wasn't. The Mac salad was amazing, good temp too nice and chill. The sausage was yummy, the short rib was yummy, no complaints there. The random roll not warm no butter thru me off. Why add a roll? It's not helping the meal, the meal wasn't spicy so idk why there's this random roll. Maybe replace it with cornbread? The bbq wasn't bad. It was cooked in a way like you showed up at the park and there was bbq your dearest friend made. I think it was just a bit to safe. It needs some kick! Well it's about dang time Waikiki. Like most locals, I avoid Waikiki like the plague. I've only been to the International Marketplace one time. I WANT MY OLD INTERNATIONAL MARKETPLACE BACK! I'll stop my sniveling and onto my review of Cheehoo BBQ... I had business to attend to at the IM in Waikiki. It was 4:30 and I was hungry. I met a nice young man last week who owns a "Smash Burger" food truck at the Marriott and he told me about his Uncles new BBQ joint in the Kūhiō Food Hall located on the 1st floor of the International Marketplace. I LOVE a good BBQ! Not a Korean BBQ (nothing against Korean BBQ, I like that too) I was happy when Dickies Texas BBQ opened up in Kapolei, but for a girl livin in Kalihi Valley, it's not practical to have to drive 45 minutes to spend $60+ for take-out, drive home (another 45 minutes) just to have to nuke my now cold food. I decided to grab some take out, and BBQ WAS ON MY MIND. I first looked at the brand new Mexican Taqueria's menu. $18 for a burrito? $26 for a combo plate? My feet couldn't walk away any faster. And there she(or he) was.... Aaaaawwwwww it was like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! CHEEHOO BBQ! Most plates were under $18. You heard me right. $ UNDER $18 FOR A FULL MEAL IN OVERPRICED WAIKIKI. I ordered the SPICY SAUSAGE (Jalapeño Cheddar sausage) plate. It comes with not one, not two, but three side dishes. I chose the Mac and Cheese, Coleslaw and Potato Salad. I'll be the first to admit, I'm a glorified Foodie snob. (Read my other reviews) My order was to-go. There were two containers in my really nice rope handle paper bag. I thought it was a mistake at first. I opened the first container and OMG! Not one, not two, but three Spicy Sausages to go with my three side dishes. The container with the three side dishes easily weighed two pounds. Seriously, There was enough food to feed three people. My ONLY suggestion was to give those sausage a bit of a Hawaiian sun tan. (I like my sausage and hot dogs burnt and crispy) These were just a little too pale, but nothing a couple of minutes on a nice hot grill couldn't handle. They were delish regardless. I inhaled one, moved over to my creamy potato salad, added a few shakes of black pepper and went to town. The Mac and Cheese wasn't dried out at all. It had a good, healthy velvety texture. The coleslaw had a snap, just as coleslaw should. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL! I was as happy as a clam. Did I mention that my order cost only $14 FREAKING DOLLARS ???? THATS UNHEARD OF IN WAIKIKI! Some of the photos of the 5star reviews don't look like anything I had. The guy at the counter suggested I eat the brisket because it just came out. I had the brisket at 5:30pm and it's currently 10pm and I think it's still in my throat. The meat was sooooooooooo dry. The sauce was the only good part of the meal. The beans? It looked like prison food I did not want to even taste them since they looked so sus. The garlic rice was hard and not edible. The potato salad was alright. The bread was stiff as a board and no butter offered. It came on a prison tray and the food tastes like prison food. The guy cutting the meat wasn't friendly at all. Guy at the register was friendly. The ambiance was food hall cafeteria ambiance nothing unexpected in that department.
