I would just order the sides that is how good they were. I ordered the ribs. It came with 4 ribs. The sauce was really good and the ribs were meaty but not fall off the bone tender. I suggest sturdier utensils as my fork broke on the first rib. I also suggest offering extra sauce (for a fee) and provide a hand wipe for after dinner. I would also like to see a brisket Sammy. They're located in Kuhio's food hall. This place was popping at 8PM on a Saturday night. I ordered the Chee Hoo combo which came with beef brisket, baby back ribs, smoked sausage, and short ribs. It was ~$30 and easily shareable with 2-3 people. Everything tasted great and I loved the smokey flavor and bbq sauce. Beef brisket and short rib were kinda tough and chewy. It came with three sides so I got cole slaw, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. Cole slaw and Mac and cheese were solid; Potato salad was just alright. They also gave one warm bun too. The reason I gave 3 stars was because service was extremely slow. It seemed like they were short staff and had one person at the cash register AND getting the food. He would take a few orders, and then grab the food. When I arrived, he was grabbing food for multiple folks so then I stood there waiting like 15 just to place my order. Then when he restarted and took my order, he took like 5 more orders before grabbing the food so then I waited even longer for another 15 min. That's 30 min of waiting! Also he wasn't serving food in the order that orders were received so it felt actually felt even longer. There needs to be a better system! Surprisingly he did a employee discount on my order. Let this be a warning! Don't ever buy food here! This place is embarrassing! We got a brisket plate and I was so excited about it! Took our plate to go, went back to our hotel room, and was ready to eat. The meat was tough! Sooooo tough! I just chewed and chewed like it was gum. Omg disgusting! Then I tried another piece and dipped it in the sauce hoping that would help. Nope. The worst brisket I ever had! Go check the picture I took of it, I ate 2 pieces. Saved the rest for my dog. Meandering in the International Marketplace wanted to do some takeout for dinner. My regular "go-to" is Mitsuwa but was thinking outside of the box. And it had been too long a while visiting the Food Hall at The IMP. So long I didn't recognize most of it. Found a familiar eatery style but with different name. Do love me some bbq so, checking out Cheehoo BBQ was a no brainer. The friendly conversation with counter associate "Judge" made me want to try the newer eatery. So glad I did. Got the combo platter which had a little, or a lot, of just about most things. Thank you Judge for hooking this customer up! Even appreciated the extra bbq sauce in the box. Combo platter consisted of beef brisket, sausage, pork rib, kalbi beef, and three sides (I chose baked beans, potato salad, and kim cheehoo). Was it the best? No. Most meats tasty tho some on the dry side. The bbq sauce was a nice addition. My favorite meats were the fall off the bone and delicious pork ribs. Enjoyed all the sides. Would I return? So, the sausage is good. It was probably the best thing there. The ribs were tender and not dry, but NEED the sauce. They didn't give much sauce, so I will lower the score for that. The brisket was good, but also NEEDS sauce. The beans were bad. The roll wasn't really warm. The potato salad was fine. The mac n cheese wasn't to my taste. The vibe in the food court was good. There was live music, so that was fun! I can't say anything for the service because I needed to go find a seat and let my party handle the food orders. Right after my friend and I checked in at the hotel, we headed to Kūhiō Ave Food Hall for dinner in Hawaii time. He was from the east coast. So, this would be his late after midnight snack. We looked at all of the food vendors, Choo Hoo BBQ was the only one close to both of our palates. First, it's all meats. Second, smokehouse in the middle of Waikiki sounds exotic. Third, the long line moved fast. The menu screens changed too fast. I had to take pictures and read them from my phone. I didn't see the paper menu until we got to the cash register. It was also hard to read. I wished they have a bigger print. The aroma from the smoked meat made us hungry. So, we ordered 2 plates. The Combo Plate was consisted of Brisket, 2 Ribs and Sausage with 3 sides. The other plate was half chicken with 3 other sides. Both plates came with a dinner roll. Amongst our sides, we both had 6 different varieties: Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Mac & Cheese, Chee-Hoo Garlic Rice, Kim-Chee-Hoo and Cole Slaw. Thumbs up to Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad. Thumbs down to Kim Chee because the texture was really weird. It tasted like made from frozen cabbage. The service was awesome. That was why I gave tips for this fast-food stand. I could tell they were short staffed. Both men worked so hard like they were juggling between front and back at the kitchen while managing the orders. Kudos to the skilled employees! We took our food back to the hotel. Not knowing I got a $1.50 surcharge for the sturdy paper bag. I only found that out from a photo I took during check out. I've had better bbq, my take on this place, I had the combo plate. The brisket I felt was choice cut, I smoke brisket and I'm really good at it and when you get choice it's hard to keep the lean juicy and the brisket I had here the lean was not juicy. The Mac n cheese was good but lacked flavor. I did not care for the beans at all I'm not a big kimchee fan and I thought it was just going to be normal beans it wasn't. The Mac salad was amazing, good temp too nice and chill. The sausage was yummy, the short rib was yummy, no complaints there. The random roll not warm no butter thru me off. Why add a roll? It's not helping the meal, the meal wasn't spicy so idk why there's this random roll. Maybe replace it with cornbread? The bbq wasn't bad. It was cooked in a way like you showed up at the park and there was bbq your dearest friend made. I think it was just a bit to safe. It needs some kick!
