I had heard about this place and actually had driven past several times. It's looks really nice from the outside but looks can be deceiving! We were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside. The place is very nice inside as well and we were seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive and took our drink order immediately. When she brought our drinks we ordered the onion rings as an appetizer and each placed our order for the main course. OH MY! The onion rings are amazing! We were surprised when they brought out the main course for each of us...huge portions and it all looked so good! AND it tasted even better than it looked! Excellent! Service was pretty decent, I had the chicken alfredo, alfredo sauce was very creamy but also very bland chicken was good, my wife had the grilled tilapia seasoned well with a side of their amazing sweet corn. We also has their delicious bacon cheese fries and their sweet butter crescents (we've ordered these before and this time they had barely any butter). For dessert we had a trio of their dessert minis, I did not like any of them, to sweet and taste a little old. Overall our experience was good and we will be back. read more

Even though the estimated wait time was 35 minutes, we were seated within 15 minutes. The place was packed on a Saturday night with security guards patrolling inside, mk. The menu is vast, prices unbelievably low. I ordered the Salmon, which was cooked to perfection. The sweet crescent rolls as an appetizer were freshly made and delicious. Drinks were very good as well. We had to ask for silverware and straws, but no bother, our waitress was busy, but maintained a good attitude, and our food from order to table was in good time. We ate here two years ago, when they first opened, and it was a bad experience. Fast forward two years and we decided to give it another try. I'm glad we did. Everyone deserves a second chance. From the front door to the manager ~ service was great. I had the bourbon salmon with brown rice...salad on the side. The salad came in a large bowl with a great honey mustard dressing. When my meal came it TOO had a salad on the plate ~ oops! I had ask for salad instead of choosing two sides, but had I known there would be so much salad I would have invited the rabbits to joins us! Went on a Friday around 1 and it wasn't too busy so we got seated quickly. 2 hostesses were very nice. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. We got the spinach dip as an appetizer, it was amazing! I got the baked potato soup, it was okay, kind of watery but still good. I got the meatloaf with a loaded baked potato. It was really good! Excellent food, terrible service. This was my first time here but from what I've heard they are notorious for slow service. When we first arrived there were three women at the hostess stand chatting and they all looked at us and said nothing, very odd and awkward. Apps and food came out at the same time and one of the meals was very cold. We sent it back to be reheated. It was very hard to get out waitress' attention and took 15 minutes to get the check. We just left Cheddars after meeting here for my moms birthday. The food and drinks were fine, but the hostess and manager were subpar. The hostess who sat us was rude and short with us and initially sat at a booth with condensation from the air conditioning dripping onto the seat and table. Unacceptable. We requested to be moved, and the hostess recieved our request with attitude. We then asked to speak to the manager, who proceeded to throw his front of house staff under the bus, saying that sitting us at a table with a leak was their fault and he was unaware of it. We were then moved to a booth and pur server Jordan was kind. I have driven through York many times without stopping at Cheddar's. Last Saturday, my wife and I decided to finally eat lunch here. Well, the interior is nicely decorated with a large fish aquarium and a large paddle fan in the middle that kinda resembles a banana plantation windmill in design and operation. Service was fine. As for the food? Meh. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and it looked greasy and tasted the same and seemed soggy. It was a weird consistency which most likely is the product of a frozen patty. My wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, a favorite of hers at Cracker Barrel. This one tasted like the chicken came from a Swanson frozen dinner. IOW, it tasted bland. I tried it and agreed with her. Overall, a very underwhelming meal, with the best part being the buttered croissants brought out before the meal began. Not sure if we will return or not to try any more of their victuals. read more

Wasn't happy with my meal. I ordered the country fried chicken. I was totally in the mood for a big helping of home cookin'. But the portion sizes were all wrong. There were two huge pieces of chicken. Well, ok, that's good I guess, but there's more to a fried chicken dinner than just chicken. It came with mashed potatoes, which were fine but not very generous. But the real kicker was the green beans. They came in one of those very shallow little ceramic bowls that some places serve ketchup in. There were hardly any. Plus they had been sliced and then cut lengthwise, so they were just flat "strips" of green beans. They were completely overcooked too since they were all limp and pale as anything. I had to carefully ration each bean piece with the massive mouthfuls of chicken and bits of potato. A more balanced meal would have been nice, and more filling. Green beans and potatoes seem cheaper and easier to provide than fried chicken. Oh well. read more

We decided to try Cheddar's for dinner on a quick jaunt down to York. We had seen it on previous trips through the area , but had never had occasion to stop. We were fairly disappointed. We started with their honey-butter croissant appetizer. The croissants were good and the honey-butter was a nice addition, but they would have been much better if served warm. These were probably the high point of our meal. Our entrees were both disappointing. My southern fried chicken was very rubbery and the coating did not adhere to the meat at all. The southern green beans were cafeteria grade and their juice made the Texas toast soggy and unpleasant. The mashed potatoes were good, but nothing special. My wife's meatloaf was a little better, but the "tomato glaze" was a thick layer that was both overly sweet and spicier than was appropriate for the dish. She got a baked potato that was pretty good, however. Still a little hungry we decide to try a dessert. We tried the chocolate-raspberry mini cake. The cake itself was serviceable, but the raspberry filling and flavoring was overly sweet and tasted like raspberry syrup. It also was coated in a layer of hot fudge that was as thin as Hershey syrup and topped with half melted, sagging whipped cream. The service was also a bit slow despite the fact that the it was hardly busy when we arrived. Overall, this felt like the kitchen running slow, but even the drinks and the check took longer than expected. We usually make a point if giving a restarting a second chance after a first bad experience, but I doubt we will in this case. The place just really disappointed. read more

Omg we can not stand the hostess. She can't say hello and is extremely unhappy. She said her job was hard and complained. There was literally 5 tables in her filled. My girl friend told her she should really greet us as it's her job. Her job is hard? Okay don't complain to us just do it. Another family came in and she tried to sit them right next to us with no one there around us at all. They complained that she was sitting them next to the only people in here. Yep just to be a mean hostess... I guess they told her. They too said she was rude. We love the chicken here so we came back the next day. She literally stared me down and didn't say hi again until I did. Set our stuff down and walked away before either of us sat (not here with the same friend). Fell in love with this place when I viewed it on Yelp. Majority of the items on the menu were under $10. Winner in my book! Lol Once I got here (around 2:30), atmosphere is quiet, staff is friendly. I ordered the steak and ribs combo with two sides and a salad. Steak, was nothing special. Ribs were tasty but not really fall off the bone. Loaded baked potato was supposed to be loaded. I guess their definition of loaded is minus the bacon bits and chives. Im a bacon lover so was slightly disappointed. I've tried the onion rings which were pretty good, cheese fries were alright and the fried shrimp which was pretty good. The portions were big and the prices were even better. The downside was more service related. My party of 5 barely had a chance to look over the menu and the server wanted to know if we were ready to order. I like the menu...generally the food is fair and the cocktails are very good. We did have a terrible experience on Mother's Day. We did expect a wait...so we sat at the bar and the bartenders were ok. It's when we were finally seated that we had issues. I guess the food was prepared without a time frame in mind as some food came out "fresh" but others had to have sat under a heat lamp...Forever. The sandwich (hamburger) rolls were toasted to the point that they would "crack" when you tried to cut in 1/2. In fact the lettuce on the sandwich was so dried out...it was crumbling (sort of like "ash"). Why have I never been here before? I came here with my friends after another performance instead of going to Round the Clock. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed, this really interesting fan spinning in the middle of the place. Decor points and more for the fish tank there too. After being seated, we were served by a very friendly man, forgot his name. Anyways, I ordered the half rack of ribs and chicken tenders with Broccoli and Mac and Cheese for my sides, one of my friends got the table some bacon cheese fries as an appetizer. OH MY GOD! I took one bite of the Mac and Cheese and I was hooked! I don't know what was in that but that was like the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had! The Broccoli was fresh and the Ribs and Chicken were amazing. The Ribs were nice and tender, the chicken was nice and crunchy, the way I like it. I didn't get dessert, but they have a Monster Cookie that they bake fresh for you, so if you have an extra 15 minutes, you can order that. I was very tempted, maybe next time. Other than that, this place is amazing! And the price isn't that bad. I paid only $17 for my entire meal. I'm so happy my friend suggested this place! I am definitely coming back here. Discovered this place while in York, PA. Initially didn't seem like a big name restaurant based on what I was looking for on maps app on my phone but I'm glad we went. Before I get into it, let me say that our server, Haley, was very friendly, helpful and attentive. And I must say that the food was delicious. So why a one-star rating, you ask? Well! [cracks knuckles] Let's start with: There were 14 of us there on 12/31/18. You may call it New Year's Eve, but we were all there on my wife's birthday, thank you one and all. Between my wife and myself, we had called 4 times, starting 8 days leading up to that date, to let Cheddar's know that 14 of us were coming that evening, all for the purpose of celebrating my wife's natal day. Each time, we were assured they had our name, and that seating all of us at 5:00 wouldn't be a problem. Can you see where this is going? Yeah... Oh, lest I forget, 5 of our party had come in from out of town--Mississippi! To, you know, Celebrate. My. Wife's. Birthday. (In case anyone's not clear with the geography, Pennsylvania and Mississippi aren't all that near each other. Honestly.) When we got there, not only didn't Cheddar's have any information about our party, they didn't have any seats available for the 14 of us. To be fair, the hostess did find us seating, but that's another paragraph. And in the meantime, there wasn't any apology or visible motivation to help make the situation right. We waited a good ten minutes or so, with no one keeping us informed, until I walked back up to find out what the heck was going on. Only at that time did the hostess say that they were working on finding tables for us. Ok, ok, the hostess hadn't been presenting any visible investment in our welfare (still wasn't, actually), but seating was coming. Good! ...The 14 of us ended up being sat at two side-by-side 6-persons booths. You're working out the math, right? And realizing 7 people being squeezed into seating for 6 probably...isn't...comfortable? And side-by-side booths meant that half of our entire birthday party were seated with their backs to one another. If the booths had even been across from one another, that would've been a step up! I was on the Cheddar's website while we were being seated, letting them know how displeased we all were. Results from that = nothing. After dinner, I took our receipt and went onto Cheddar's feedback website, giving our receipt's number, as well as our entire situation, so they would know exactly what the problems had been. Results from that avenue = nada, zip, zilch, zero, bupkis. Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is why I'm rating this place with only one star, because neither the company nor the restaurant itself every bothered to acknowledge what had happened. The only thing I have is an automatic email response from Cheddar's, saying "Thank you contacting Guest Relations. We have received your comments. We will forward them on to the appropriate person and they will respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and for choosing Cheddar's." 10 days later, and the 'appropriate person' has yet to even glance in my direction. read more
