Last night I went to The Local for dinner and drinks. I decided to sit at the bar. Ryan was awesome, very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. I love the honey bee, it's one of my favorite drinks! I also ordered the filet mignon, barely ate any, but of course took it home to eat later. Today at work I am cutting a cold filet with a plastic butter knife, and it's gliding right through. A true testament of the tenderness of this steak! read more

First time here at the location in Fallston. Had apps one time with a customer at the White Marsh location a few years ago. Decided to have a little "celebration" for a successful year end at our business. The good - attentive service. Called ahead and they held a table for 15 min until we arrived. Friday and it was packed. Cocktails good. Food, I've got some concerns. Appetizers - ordered cheesesteak eggrolls and octopus. Eggrolls were excellent. Octopus thought, I'm used to the presentation at Bacco's so I could do without it being cut into tiny pieces and buried in sauce. Salad - shared the kale salad. Great flavor but the ( wife's pet peeve when I serve it ), the kale was in very large chunks, could use a bit more chopping. Main Course - wife had stroganoff and I had the NY strip. I don't know what it is about Harford County but it's the last time I'll try to get a proper NY strip here. I should have known when it was only $52 on the menu. Steak & Main advertises "best steaks around" and serves the same 1/2" thin cut slice that looks like it came from Ponderosa but they charge $65 which is a ripoff. I like my steak rare and with a steak this thin, it's impossible but at least they were close. Again, stuff all over the top of the meat, a bit too much. Stroganoff - solid!! Dessert- Bananas Foster / solid!! My only gripe is the steak. We will be back for sure but I'm done trying to get one out and will just continue getting a nice cut from a butcher and treating myself at home. read more

Stopped here on a Friday night while in Baltimore for work. I had snooped this place and their posts for awhile, as I know one of the gents who works here. Made a reservation for 8pm for the three of us, and checked in promptly. Located in a shopping center it's sort of tucked in the back corner behind a Waffle House and Dunkin, and due to some spots being taped off parking was TIGHT. We were sat in the bar area at a high top table. Our waitress Jackie was very friendly and went thru the specials as well as the overall menu with us. We started with the fried deviled eggs, the pork belly, the cheesesteak egg rolls, and the cream of crab soup. Being in Baltimore, the cream of crab had to be on-point and they delivered. Good flavor, a decent amount of crab, and paired it with the table cornbread served to us. An instant hit. With two orders of the fried deviled eggs, everyone was loading up - but I really liked these. The fry was even necessary to me as the yolk stuffing was smooth, had an old bay flavor and overall so well done. The pork belly looked like a real mental investment, the presentation was Michelin-esque. Only issue was it was tough to cut with the butter knives and after just a small chunk of it I let the boys handle the rest. It is very seldom that a menu item can pull me away from my usual path of steak, crab cake, etc - but meatloaf is a dish that does just that. The meatloaf was massive- stacked on top of mashed potatoes and julienned vegetables (which I almost missed)- topped with an over easy egg. A lot to negotiate but really worth it in the end. Various bites had different flavors of the potato, the egg, and the sauce along with the meatloaf. Definitely an item to get if you visit. We were going to pass on dessert but Ryan came out with a creme brulee on the house. Ryan and I go way back - and I appreciate him greatly now that we are older. I have been to the Local a couple times and have had great meals. Yes, the prices are high but you see the high quality ingredients, intense flavors, and great service. The highlight was my meal -- short rib pot pie. The sauce was rich and complex and like nothing I've eaten before. I hope they have this dish forever. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their dishes as well, the salmon dish and the shrimp and crab linguine looked amazing. Desserts and drinks were also ridiculously good. Could not finish it all. Finally! A restaurant that is welcoming and has tasty food. Our servers name was Jordan. She was an absolute delight. She provided us a history of the restaurant and offered guidance on the food and drink. We all ordered The Local. A beautiful looking smash burger with fresh ingredients, onion, lettuce and tomatoes. So I decided to give the local a try again for brunch with my mini me, and I'm so glad I did. It was amazing, from the service to the ambiance and of course the food. I got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside. The waffle seemed to have maple flavor infused in it and it was the perfect texture. The hot sauce and gravy topped it off nicely. My daughter got the sausage and gravy and she said it was perfect. She also got a side of sausage links and I tried one - best sausage links I've ever had. I also had a fig cocktail which was perfectly sweet and had a nice hint of rosemary. Our server was great too. Overall a great brunch experience. read more

We experienced the Sunday brunch here last weekend. This restaurant shares the same lot as Dunkin Donuts and Waffle House. The parking lot is tight. But there is parking. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The seating also includes in the bar or dining area. The staff was nice and present, it did take a little while for our food to come out. They have a decent menu for brunch including mimosas, bloody Mary's and espresso martinis. If you're not into breakfast they do have some sandwich options such as the hot Italian, and a turkey sub. We enjoyed the hot Italian with fries. It was a big sandwich! I had the eggs Benedict and it was okay but very bland, not really any seasoning. I'm not sure where to begin. By far, the BEST service I've received in this area (Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in Hawaii would compare) We came in here on a whim for our Anniversary to try the Tomahawk steak and couldn't have been happier. The environment was homey with comfortable seating and a lot of home photos. We were seated with Stacie who immediately welcomed us, explained the menu, told us the specials, and cracked some jokes. She really made us feel at home and gave us sufficient time to review the menu in case we wanted to try anything else. We did decide on the Tomahawk and she let us know it would be 45 minutes but she would keep us updated and it would be carved table side. We elected to try the deviled eggs which she recommended and explained to us that the breading and sauce were the same used in the Buttermilk Chicken Sando. These eggs were FIRE! I told her I would be coming back to try the sandwich, and think it would be awesome with the deviled egg filling on top! Next up, she gave us some cornbread since we still had a while to wait and it was a perfect intermission! She kept us updated every so often and made sure our drinks stayed full. She would stop by to check on us or make general conversation. Finally she said the Tomahawk was on the way! I asked if I could video and she said they love it! The steak melted in our mouths and was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Everything we ate was just delicious. The experience was truly bar none and the food was absolutely amazing. I would eat here again and hope I could get Stacie back! I did listen to the other servers while we were waiting and they all seemed to be amazing. I know others on here feel this place is on the pricey side, however I did some research on the cost of a Tomahawk before we came in and I'm satisfied with what we spent. Food was enjoyable . Lots of large lobster chunks in my lobster fettuccine dish. Sauce was perfect, creamy but not too heavy. Would have liked a bit more spinach mixed in, but the roasted cherry tomatoes and basil were a nice addition. Loved it and would order it again! My partner had the pork chop which was done perfectly and very tender. We also enjoyed the lamb popcycles appetizer. Very tasty. Can't wait to return. Dessert was just ok. This place is described as elevated comfort food! It is quaint but very inviting! We sat at a high top bar table and ordered food!! Ps, we were served by a very nice young lady! I ordered the watermelon salad, and cream of crab soup! My guy ordered grilled oysters and the short rib grilled sandwich initially! The crab soup and salad was fire! However, the chargrilled oysters was ok! I've had better! My guy did not like his sandwich and our server was very quick to replace it! It was replaced with the crab cake sandwich which he did like! I cannot express enough about the fantastic experience my Husband and I had last night for our 37th Anniversary!! First time there, will not be the last!!! From the welcome greeting at the door, promptly seated, and overall such a great vibe!! Our server Erin was right there, recognizing our anniversary and as soon as she knew it was our first time there, went right into the story behind "The Local" which you just need to experience yourself!!! Our cocktails were amazing, our appetizers Spanish Octopus and Chargrilled Oysters were the bomb and yes, we had to partake in one of their signatures, the Beef Wellington, was absolutely out of this world!!! First timer, wanted to see what the hype was all about.. NY strip was very tough , no flavor, too much salt. Caesar Salad meh- it was OK but it was missing the anchovy flavor you'd expect from a finer restaurant. Cheesesteak eggrolls tasted like salty ground beef, served with ketchup. They did have a good crunch. Gumbo had a good afterspice but tasted like brown chicken gravy from a jar. Cornbread tasted like nothing but sugar. The service was sub-par. I was not impressed at all. They went above and beyond for other vendors and staff at the event and their food was exceptional! I've been to the Local a couple of times before but didn't really get the chance to try multiple things on the menu so we ordered a few things this time around. This place is typically busy so if you want a table, especially with a big group, definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. There is the dinning area (pictures on this review) as well as the bar are, which has some high top tables so there is plenty of room on either side, they also have outdoor seating in warm seasons. We started our meal with a complimentary corn bread, I am not exaggerating when I say this was the best corn bread I've ever had. I will say everything we've had here was very good but Below are few of the must trys: **charred octopus is a must try. From the presentation to the perfectly grilled octopus, to the flavorful squash purée, every item on the plate blends well. **SeaBass was also cooked perfectly. I've been wanting to come here for awhile and finally got the opportunity to do so. I can now see why it's typically the talk of the town when considering a nice dinner/date night. We started with the cheesesteak eggrolls and cream of crab soup, both of which were incredible. I was licking the bowl when I was done. Then we got the Lobster finger special and duck and dumplings for our entrees. The presentation for all of the dishes were wonderful and made me appreciate the taste even more. Finally got here after multiple attempts to book a table with short notice. Reservations recommended especially for bigger parties. Arrived on Saturday around 6:30 and they were already busy. They have a smaller lot and we found a space quickly as someone was leaving when we arrived. That said, they do have a Valet. Ordered some Starters-Cheesesteak Egg Rolls were a hit! Chesapeake Oysters were char grilled and tasty. The Charred Octopus was presented so well, it looked too good to eat-delicious. For main, a couple ordered the Roseda Farms Prime Rib. Cooked temp. as ordered and was seasoned to perfection. This is our new steak spot in Harco! Beef Stroganoff was also delicious with the Bone marrow beef broth taking it over the top. The Duck and dumplings was some of the best I've had. Generous portions overall. For dessert, we ordered the Bananas Foster -the hype is real and this one is not to be missed! Flourless Chocolate Torte was also rich and decadent with intense Choco flavor. Medium sized and Split into two dining areas both with a bar. We were in the heated Patio section that I would imagine is opened up during warmer months. Busy, loud and vibrant atmosphere. Service was attentive and friendly. My coworker recommended this place, and we were very excited to try it. Highly recommend making reservations. I was able to get reservations for a Sunday night at 4:45 pm. As everyone says, the parking lot is fairly small. We were able to get a spot and went in. The hostess greeted us and seated us immediately. I will say that it is absolutely 5 star service. Everyone was very kind and helpful. It's a good vibe, very neighborhood/family friendly. Our waitress gave us a lot of recommendations, which we appreciated. But we're one of those people that studies the menu intensely before we go there, so we knew we wanted. And we were starving. I got a peach mocktail while my husband got the old fashioned (that was smoked). We also got corn read. The drinks were delicious! The cornbread was pretty sweet and a little oily. It was okay. We ordered 4 appetizers, the chicken fried deviled eggs, the octopus, the pb&j pork belly, and the chargrilled oysters. We didn't love any of them, unfortunately. The deviled eggs had a thin layer of pale yellow fried skin that kept falling off. It wasn't too seasoned and just a little bland. The octopus was fishy and had a weird texture? Almost mushy. It didn't seem too fresh. The oysters were okay. I wouldn't get them again for that price. Like another reviewer said, the pb&j pork belly just had too much going on. The peanut butter was overpowering. It also had cornbread, jelly, and apple slices with it. The porkbelly was cooked very well though and delicious. We ordered the beef wellington for 2 for our main entrees. It was a show with it being wheeled out and cut/plated table side, which was cool. We loved the sides, the mashed potatoes & the creamed corn. It was simple and done well. We ordered the beef wellington medium rare, but it was a little overcooked. It was kind of tough. The sauce it came with had a not so great after taste. I really did not like it. They also have the beef wellington smoked (they add smoke under a cover?) And it didn't really add anything taste wise to the wellington. We almost always order dessert at a new restaurant, but after we finished, we opted not to get anything. I really wanted to love this place. Any it might be just our tastes, but we didn't love anything. It's a bit pricey, but everything is farm to table, sourced from a 100 mile radius. SERVICE: My friend had already been at the table so I don't know about seating but the girl who was our server was very friendly and good with nonverbal cues. Never really had to wait a long time. AMBIANCE: The atmosphere here was about at a 4/10 for noise. (Good for conversation, not too loud, but also not so quiet as to be awkward or not to feel lively.) FOOD: Genuinely I understand why my friend kept recommending this place to me. Everything we ordered tasted really good. Nothing really missed. We got the pork belly w/ grits, beef carpaccio (that was my personal favorite), the pork buns (the bread on that was perfect), and the devilled eggs. OTHER: Price: I do think the food is a bit pricey but the quality reflects the price well. If you want something a step down, maybe try Pairings Bistro. Parking: I didn't struggle for parking at all even though it was peak dinner time (got there about 7pm). The lot is reasonably spacious and there are other shops around. The only thing I can think of that was a tiny bit annoying was that the tables for two table space was kind of sparse. They were hard to have the menu at or fit our dishes.
