The Mount Joy location is easy to find, has plenty of off street parking, and offers lots of tables, which can accommodate a sizable number of customers at once. The atmosphere is classic diner with booths, stand-alone tables, and counter service, and they can easily set up tables for larger groups. At 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning, there was no wait and we were offered a selection of seating options, so we had a desirable table. The wait staff was prompt and attentive. Coffee was hot and plentiful. My order of the standard scrambled eggs, home fried potatoes, and toast was served promptly, delivered ample portions, and was as tasty as one could expect. Nothing fancy, just a satisfying breakfast. My spouse ordered 2 eggs over easy with home fries and toast. Just as good. Also ordered a slice of coconut cream pie for desert, and the serving size was so large, we had to ask for a takeout box to take that with us. Overall, Gus's is a good bet when you want a breakfast at a diner.

Tons of seafood options, surprisingly. I usually get their crab cakes, which are crab-packed. Broasted chicken is one of their specialities. The portions are enormous. We found the extensive menu had many options. The only negative is the menu includes the Penna Dutch staple hot bacon dressing which the server imformed us is not ever available. A sharpie on the menu would take care of that issue. The portions were plentiful. I ordered an egg and olive sandwich and expected the olives to be mixed in instead of layered on top, but the taste was essentially the same and the egg salad was tasty. We opted for a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie to go and my mom said it was just ok. I was going to try it but after I saw it I passed as it was not enough to tempt me to try it. The tea was nicely brewed and they offer raspberry tea as well. The fried eggplant was reported to be very tasty with a large side of spaghetti. My sandwich had a bag of chips on the side, which I could have done without. Something about having a bag of chips seems rather convenience store than a restaurant and I guess if they just open the bag and put them on the plate it seems more appropriate. But that's just me. I found the service friendly and attentive. The price point was very inexpensive. They did not have a senior menu but had lots of specials. Overall I think we will happily grab an early dinner here regularly. A great find in a new city!

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

Walking into Hinkles makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. We visited on a very busy Sunday but arrived at the end of the lunch rush. Our server was friendly and communicative, having to deliver the unfortunate news that a few menu items we were interested in were all out. She did a really good job of helping us figure out what to order instead. The food was solid. I ordered a spinach salad and tater tot's. I was really impressed by the freshness of my salad and the chicken was clearly cooked to order and well seasoned. I wanted something healthy after eating out for multiple days on end, and this dish made me feel so much better. My dad went with the roast beef which he really enjoyed and kept commenting on the tenderness of the beef. My mom and brother went with the crab cakes and the hot dog-which they both finished completely and reportedly enjoyed. For dessert, my parents went with ice cream and lemon meringue pie. I didn't try the ice cream because lactose intolerance -but the bite of the pie I sampled was delicious. There is also an adjacent gift shop next to the restaurant which had tons of different gift options. They also offered us free candy for international women's day, which was a nice touch! Hinkle's is definitely worth a visit, and I'd especially recommend a visit for families- and don't skip on the dessert!

We were in more of a dining room mood but we weren't asked for our opinion and were taken to a high 2-person table in what we assumed was the pizzeria. I have a temperamental back, so these chairs were not going to work for me, so we asked to be relocated to a nicer table. We were shown to another table right away. Both the dining room and pizzeria were nearly full, and hopping with energy! Our expectations were high! Any restaurant that serves Guinness beer on tap earns a bonus star from me! Unfortunately, the flavor was a little off and I get the impression that not too many customers drink the Guinness. It struck me as beer that was a little past its expiration date. Thankfully our food was very good. Everything had a distinctive and agreeable flavor. Even the bread and olive oil had us cutting extra slices. I ordered the quattro formatti pizza and added bacon. It was as unique and tasty as it sounds. If you look closely at the picture you'll see that someone took a bite before I had a chance to photograph it. But apart from that, notice all the different colors and textures, which made for a nice, lively pizza. In the other photo you can see the chicken parmigiana, which they agreed to substitute Alfredo sauce instead of marinara. That was a delicious dish as well! We ended up way too full for dessert!! It's too bad because there were lots of interesting options to choose from. If we ever find ourselves in Mount Joy again we'll surely consider coming here again. The only thing that left a bad taste was the old-tasting beer.

My sandwich was great. Calamari was just ok! Not horrible just ok. Boneless wings were not good at all, hard and lacked sauce. Cheese steak that my other half order was strange more like chopped burger than steak! Disappointing visit will be quite a while before we return!!!
