My mom recently moved to Mount Joy and we made this our first nearby foray into what Mount Joy has to offer. There is ample parking and easy ramp access. The interior is bright and cozy. We found the extensive menu had many options. The only negative is the menu includes the Penna Dutch staple hot bacon dressing which the server imformed us is not ever available. A sharpie on the menu would take care of that issue. The portions were plentiful. I ordered an egg and olive sandwich and expected the olives to be mixed in instead of layered on top, but the taste was essentially the same and the egg salad was tasty. We opted for a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie to go and my mom said it was just ok. I was going to try it but after I saw it I passed as it was not enough to tempt me to try it. The tea was nicely brewed and they offer raspberry tea as well. The fried eggplant was reported to be very tasty with a large side of spaghetti. My sandwich had a bag of chips on the side, which I could have done without. Something about having a bag of chips seems rather convenience store than a restaurant and I guess if they just open the bag and put them on the plate it seems more appropriate. But that's just me. I found the service friendly and attentive. The price point was very inexpensive. They did not have a senior menu but had lots of specials. Overall I think we will happily grab an early dinner here regularly. A great find in a new city! read more

Good food, I had lunch special toasted grinder with soup. The Italian wedding soup was tasty even if not something that would be served at an Italian wedding. The grinder was ham, cheese, pepperoni with mayo. Tasty, but not what you'd get in PHL Prices are very reasonable. Service is friendly and helpful. read more

Good food for cheap, nice attentive service, with a very quiet ambiance! I ordered the two eggs any style which comes with toast and home fries and it was really good. My companions didn't have any complaints either, the tomato soup was really good. We got there at about 10:40 and almost no one was there so I don't know if it's more active before or in later hours. COVID19 Review; I recently stopped here for Breakfast while staying in the area and was super impressed. The menu was large with plenty of options and the prices were extremely affordable. The staff was super nice and willing to make any accommodations. Although they didn't have a kids menu, they were happy to provide a kid size portion of pancakes, and even shaped them like Mickey Mouse. The staff here took Covid precautions very seriously. Plexiglas was set up in-between booths, staff wore masks (properly), and everything was wiped down between customer use (tables and condiments). read more

Went for an early lunch at the suggestion of someone I was visiting in the area. They have a parking lot and upon entry I was quickly seated. They have their regular menu and additionally offer lunch and dinner specials. Prices across all menus are consistently low. After getting answers to several questions I had about their menu I ordered the New York Turkey Burger. A grilled turkey burger topped with canned mushroom slices, rustically chopped green pepper and swiss cheese on a seeded bun. It was on the lumch soecial menu so it included fries, cole slaw and soup. I had the choice of Italian Wedding or Maryland Clam. I was curious about the Maryland Clam and the hostess told me it was red. I expected a Maryland Crab type soup just with clams instead. What I got was a off white soup as thick as pudding. Learned there was a clear miscommunication between kitchen and front of house. Regardless, their version of clam chowder left much to be desired. It was very bland, too thick, and overall unappetizing. I only had a couple spoonfuls before setting it aside. The burger was okay. The fries were the best item though-super crispy and seasoned nicely. Service was typical except my check was placed on the table long before I finished eating which is a peeve of mine. If I go back to this diner I'd probably order and omelet. After learning this morning that this establishment, known as "MoJo" to many, received 30 health code violations I have decreased my 2 star rating to 1. read more

When we first moved to the outskirts of Mt Joy from the city in 2007 we dined here often for about 2 years. Not because it was exceptional or even good but because there were few family dining options and we always felt like we got alot of food for the money. I've never been a fan but did like their Greek salad and felt it was the best dish they offered. Portion sizes have always been large but the food not good enough that you'd want to take the leftovers home. The decor is very, very dated. I'm talking the worst of the 1960's meets the worst of the 1970's. It never feels clean and has a run down appearance inside and out. There's a large dining room with a huge fireplace that could be remodeled to be a fabulous dining space but in all these years nothing has been done. There's also a cafeteria type side which has an even worse appearance, completed with ripped vinyl booth seating. Recently I found myself in Mt Joy with one of the grands. It's been several years since my last meal there and figured I'd give them another shot. The lack of maintenance was evidenced immediately as now their street sign doesn't even light up. The parking lot is dark and concerning. Inside we were seated on the uglier cafeteria side. The menu didn't change after all these years and continues to be quite expansive. They always run dinner specials - which are a good value if you are just looking to eat alot and not concerned about flavor or freshness. I've sampled many of their meals over the years and found very few that I would order again. Gravies and sauces are over-floured, vegetables are straight from the can, meat dishes are tough and never flavorful, etc. Two dishes stand out as being acceptable: the burgers are huge, cooked well, and served on a toasted bun and their Greek salad was consistently made well. The feta always tasted fresh. With that being said I ordered a burger for myself and kid's meal version for the grand. Both came out quickly but were lukewarm. The burger wasn't as good as I remember and although the bun is still toasted, it's now of a lesser quality sesame variety. The frozen fries were battered but again lukewarm. My rice pudding was thick like oatmeal and appeared to be made days ago, it lacked the creaminess I was craving. The pickle condiments were so old and sour that I told the waitress I was concerned that I ate one. They tasted like medicine. SIDENOTE: The kids meal burger comes with one side and is the exact same size as the adult version that has an up-charge for fries. If you're getting take out and want to save a few bucks order the kids meal. For dining in the kids meal is limited to those 8 years and younger. While our waitress was efficient and friendly another waitress lacked simple common sense. Sitting in a booth across from us wrapping silverware she proceeded to loudly tell the customer behind us about the "white balls she's been coughing up all week" in great detail . Nice. Just what I want to hear while eating dinner...... When I went to pay I noticed the hodgepodge of holidays that surrounds the hostess/cashier station. Being that it was mid January they still had reindeer miniatures, a pumpkin and fall arrangement, and chocolate Easter eggs for sale - probably there since Easter 2018 - among all the other clutter and junk. The parking lot was even darker and empty when I left. A windowless van with a side slide entrance beside the driver's side of my car had me on edge. So much so that I climbed in from the passenger side and buckled my granddaughter in her carseat once we were locked inside. Of all the empty spots why butt up against me? French fries were probably the best I've had and I don't normally like French fries. The French fries were crispy like fried chicken. No ketchup required for them..I know weird but true! Just to start, I wish I could give this a 3.5. I had 2 eggs, toast, and home fries which was $4.95 and a cup of the soup of the day (New England clam chowder), coffee ($1.55 with 1 refill), and water - total my meal was $9.28. Not bad if you ask me. One slice of toast had a dead bug on it, and my home fries had a little hair in it which is why I deducted stars. The eggs were good and the waitress brought me new toast without a problem (I didn't mention the hair bc it was after the bug and I just didn't feel like it). The toast was buttered, but not too much, so that was good to me. I stayed talking with a friend for 2.5 hours and we never felt rushed. Our waitress checked on us consistently, even after dropping off our checks which was really appreciated! Overall, we would return! This cute little Pennsylvania diner is perfect for a casual hometown feeling experience. Huge portions for great prices should make anyone want to stop in here. Plenty of options for all different diet types (plenty of meat for the Ron Swanson type too). It's a nice little diner with friendly locals working there. It's open 24/7 and it's hard to mess up the simple stuff like a good old omelette (they don't). While they were attentive to get our table coffee and water refills, it doesn't appear they're as attentive to the cleanliness of all the booths- just beware. read more

I ate them, but they were disgusting. Coleslaw was dry and lacking flavor. Potato was a bit under cooked. My husband, on the other hand, loved his omelet. The two stars are for service and price. However, you get what you pay for. Fruits and veggies are clearly not fresh and they taste like it. A 24/7 diner that serves pretty decent food at exceptionally good prices. Don't come to this place expecting anything other than a diner re: decor, menu options, etc. But you should expect excellent service, a smaller-than-average bill, and a full stomach when you're done. I had the grilled meatloaf and it was delicious. It was so much food I couldn't even finish. There were so many things to choose from on the menu, it took longer than it normally does to decide just what to eat. The food came out quickly once we finally figured out what we wanted. The server was super nice and very attentive. She always had a smile on her face and made sure the drinks were filled and we had everything we needed. The owner/manager also came around to talk with the various tables to make sure everything was OK. The crowd in the restaurant (about 5pm on a Friday night) was mostly locals and mostly elderly. I'm not from the area, but I got the sense that many of the "older" locals eat there quite a bit, or perhaps there was an early bird special that night! :-) I would definitely eat here again if I'm passing through the area. My wife and I have been stopping here for years. This is my favorite of the diners in the area. Nice assortment of choices, and reasonably priced dinners. Although you won't get anything trend-setting, you'll probably get exactly what you want when you go to a family restaurant.....comfortable setting, comfort foods, good prices, and decent service. One of the best chicken fried steaks that I've tried. I've even tried things that I thought might be bad from a diner type place, like Crab cakes, and even those were excellent. My wife always enjoys the pastas or lasagna. My 5yr old son enjoys any of the kids dinners, and the chicken and waffle dinner. read more

My husband and I came in Tuesday morning for breakfast around 9-9:30am. We were seated in a booth. Behind us was a couple the waitress obviously knows so she handed us menus and promptly left to seat them. She brought them drinks immediately and held a conversation with them until taking their order and walking away...as we still sat there no drinks and had ample time to decide what we wanted. We got up and left. They were not busy by any means and this was totally unacceptable. We went to a much nicer dining establishment that turned out being much better priced. Cons: if you sit at a table you will feel trapped. They are too close together to fit people in. You definitely want to sit at a booth. - breakfast is terrible. We eat out every Sunday morning and I now refuse to eat breakfast here period. For example: iv had to assemble my own breakfast sandwiches because they come in pieces and without the cheese I paid extra for... waffles can be so hard iv had to saw them with knives (and they weren't even warm). Chipped beef is super salty! I got a bacon omelet once and it was all fat. Speaking of bacon, it's terrible. I'm not sure how they cook it but it's always shriveled and never tastes good. If you decide to go for breakfast pancakes are the only way to go. - service can be hit or miss. If you get the lady in the morning with the long gross nails you're destined for a rough morning. She will literally make eye contact with you, knowing you need something, and walk away... (it's happened more than once) -has had multiple failed health inspections in the past. Pros: I have been for dinner one time and it was actually pretty good. I believe i had a burger and fries. Fries were really good! This is the only reason they get 3 stars. - the guy in the morning that seats you is super sweet and knows you by name. read more
