It has been a number of years since I last patron this establishment. Mainly, the reason being that I'm not in this area often as I had been when I last ate here. This morning happened to be in the area and wanted a decent breakfast so I stopped by. The parking lot was nearly full upon my arrival but I managed to find a spot. Upon entry into the restaurant, the ambience was loud and almost every table was taken however I was fortunate enough to snag a booth. I was quickly approached by wait staff and they took my order. I ordered the silver spring omelette which had bacon, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, onions and cheese with rye bread and home fries extra crispy. My order took longer to arrive then I thought it would but given how busy it was this morning I can't complain. When my plate finally arrived I was pleased at the amount of home fries and the size of the Omelette that I received. Additionally, the rye bread was swirled and had great rye flavor. The Omelette was good however my only complaints lie with the fact that my home fries were not crispy and my toast was cold therefore leaving the butter unmelted on it. When I had been here previously several years ago I remember not liking the fact that your check would be placed on your table before being asked if there was anything else that you wanted to conclude your meal. It almost seemed as if you were being rushed out however I can say that I did not experience that today. I believe I saw in someone else's review that this place may be under new ownership so maybe that's how staff are being trained these days, which I appreciate. This place definitely has a family restaurant type of feel and a menu to match. They had quite a selection of burgers on their menu that I may just have to try on another occasion.

    Cheeseburger sub was huge.

This was my second time visiting Silver Spring on a Sunday at lunch time. They don't take reservations nor do they take names when you arrive, so on Sunday after lunch you may wait in line for a table. There were maybe 10 people ahead of us, but the wait turned out to be only about 10 minutes. They have a large menu. They have quite a few senior selections & my Dad and Aunt ordered Ham Loaf & turkey dinner which they both enjoyed. Their sides selection is also large. They have Greek items on their menu as well. My brother & I had a spicy jalepeno burger & cheeseburger sub. Both sandwiches were quite large & came with fries. I think they have good baked desserts too, but we were stuffed after our meals. I'd definitely recommend stopping here with family, older folks (not as noisy as many restaurants) or kids.

Typical diner cuisine with local items including food like scrapple. Friendly service, fresh food. Lots of bread choices. 10% military discount too

    Waffle, eggs and corn beef.

Came here looking for a waffle. Sometimes I get hungry for something and just can't get it out of my head. Asked a few friends and they recommended this place. Walking in we were a little worried. Very long line so we took the counter seats. Within 5 min everyone in line was seated. Kinda missed it there since the counter was not as comfortable as most. Ordered my waffle and a side of eggs and corn beef. Wife ordered eggs and grits with cheese and sausage. Wow was that awesome! The grits that is. My waffle was just what I needed. I wish they would serve it with real butter and syrup. Kinda kills it to have to scoop butter out of little packs and single serve syrup. Just not the same as pouring it out. Flavors were great. We will defiantly be back

This is a tiny spot with a lot of fans, so expect a wait!…read more My husband and I came here for brunch while staying in Lancaster - we were expecting to have to wait due to how busy it was on a Saturday morning, but we were amazingly able to be seated immediately (there were 2 last spots by the door). It's not the most comfortable place due to the size, but the smells and vibes are good, so it's worth checking out. I got the blue crab benedict with potatoes and my husband got the short rib tacos. Service was quick and we were overall impressed with the food! My one gripe is that they didn't have any fun coffee drinks, just black coffee from what I saw.

And then they charged us full price. And that was the final nail. We made a reservation for a noon brunch on a Sunday, we knew it was going to be busy and we got seated right away, amazing! And then it was down hill from there. We were seated right by the bussing station, I was staring at dirty dishes my entire meal, at one point I was hit and I spilled my entire cup of coffee all over my table and lap and had to clean it up myself. The French press itself was border line in drinkable. The grounds were too finely ground causing there to be grit throughout the entire pitcher of French press. We each had about one mug each. The food came out and my over easy eggs were over medium at best, the entire bottom of the yolk was hard through to the middle. Only one biscuit got gravy. And then once my partner finished his eggs he found a long black hair under where the eggs were. Needless to say we were very much done with The Bread Pedaler by the time this happened. We let the waitress know. She brought the check, which still included the food we didn't eat because there was a hair in it. Not wanting to start anything we just paid (still tipped 20% because I'm not a jerk) and left. I wish this was the great review I was hoping to leave. I was so excited to eat here. But this was truly one of the worst experiences I've had in years.

Introduction:…read more Representing 2018 in alphabet series, O is for On Orange. The letter O only has 5 of the 8 possible years represented in the alphabet series. Interestingly, 2 of them are in Lancaster County, PA. This was prior to my parents moving to Lancaster in 2021. In March 2018, my girlfriend of that time & I took a day trip to Lancaster. I lived in Montgomery County, Maryland (near DC) at the time, and we were meeting up with a friend who was living in New Jersey kind of in the middle. We agreed to meet at On Orange at 12 PM on that Sunday, March 25 since we were driving from far away, and I think they were doing a day trip too, but possible they stayed a night in town, not sure. Also, On Orange closes at 1 PM too, so even more reason to be punctual. My g/f of then was notoriously late & took a long time to get ready. She was taking too long to get ready, and I knew we needed to leave if we even had a chance of making it on time. After a while I said I don't want to do this, but I will leave without you & meet my friend (& his girlfriend). I started the car and texted you have 1 minute to come out, and if you aren't out, I'm leaving without you. My timer reached 0, and I slowly was driving off, but I saw her shuffling with her coat and what have you leaving, so I waited. We got in the car, and I rushed off. If that weren't bad enough, my g/f said we needed to stop at her bank to get cash. Of course, there was none right within route, but saw a location right off I-83 in northern MD, Hunt Valley, but we wasted more time to get off the freeway, for her to go to her ATM, & get back on the freeway when we were running significantly late. I said we are running significantly late as it is, so why are we wasting more time. She claimed in case there was something she wanted to buy in Lancaster, but that was not the primary purpose, but I'll get to that at the end. I was panicking on the significant late, and that the restaurant closes at 1, and I drove above 100 mph at times on I-70, which I think was the only time I've ever gone that fast on 70, and maybe only 4 times ever in my life reaching that speed. Experience with the Restaurant: This is street parking around here, which was free meters on Sunday. We got a decent parking spot a block away. We walked in at 12:50 PM, which was 50 minutes LATE and 10 minutes before On Orange's closing time of 1 PM. My friend & his girlfriend were already done eating. He said that they had their stomach set for eating at 12, and there was pressure to order since it's not a huge place and pretty busy. I was annoyed with my friend for not waiting for us, but I get it because let's be honest, my g/f fault on that one. Server was cordial, and my g/f & I quickly ordered. Food came out quickly. We ate quickly, and my friend & his g/f watching us eat. Food was delicious, and they were quick, but to be fair, they were closing in 10 minutes, so they were motivated to get out of there. I got a pancake & egg dish as I recall. This was a top notch brunch. In spite of the negative experience of being so late because of my g/f, the experience at the restaurant was excellent. Conclusion: After brunch, we looked around downtown, Amish Farm (see my 5-star review of them written in April 2018), etc. and was overall a nice day with the 3 of them albeit very cold. After we left, I took the back road from I-83 all the way back to Germantown, MD where she lived to see something different and to save a little gas too since it's pretty direct going that way. My g/f was complaining about it taking so long getting back. I knew she was meeting up with a friend that night. But what I later realized, she wanted to stop at an ATM that morning really because she needed cash to pay that friend for cannabis that night. So, she disrespected everyone's time for this. I guess on a positive at least she wasn't cheating on me with that guy and really was just for pot. In conclusion, I thought On Orange was top notch, and they were accommodating to our time schedules.

This was efficient because our meal came out and another server was able to grab the items off the robo-server and give them to our table.  The food was very good and portion sizes were equal to the price. We sampled the egg white veggie omelet with toast and homefries, which was cooked perfectly. The home fries were spot on! The eggs benedict were cooked just right and very tasty. We also enjoyed the pancakes and sausage. Very good consistency and flavorful.  A bonus that there was a carafe of syrup on the table instead of the little packets or small bottles.  Overall a great breakfast spot.  We will try their lunch menu in the future.

When we were seated, we were given the prix fixe food menu but never provided with a drink menu. We were served water, but our waitress didn't ask if we'd like cocktails, wine, or any featured Valentine's drinks. For a special occasion dinner, that felt like a major oversight. The bigger issue, though, was the food. Several courses were noticeably undercooked and difficult to enjoy. The carrot salad had hard, undercooked carrots and a very bitter sauce that overwhelmed the dish. The grilled Badger Flame beets were also undercooked and had an unpleasant flavor. The beet risotto was firm and lacked the creamy consistency you expect from a properly prepared risotto. The halibut tasted overly fishy and seemed undercooked in the center. For $75 per person on Valentine's Day, we expected a polished, thoughtfully executed experience. Instead, the meal felt poorly prepared and not worth the price.
