I've been to Springfield many times but first time to Chedders - it was really good. One of the best places to eat in the city. We both got the meatloaf lunch special on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. Seriously good comfort food. Filling and satisfying. The service was outstanding. Had a very good waiter. If I could find an area to criticize was to be seated in the bar area rather than the main dining area. As a customer I take it personally. I didn't go to sit in the bar. I could have requested to be moved but we were in a hurry. A small criticism, but getting seated in the bar area of restaurants is not good service unless they ask us. But they didn't. Bars have a different feel and culture. If I want to spend time in a bar I go for that purpose. When I dine for food I expect the employees understand that as part of the experience is to sit with like minded customers who too came to be waited in the dining area. read more

Best restaurant we ate at during our road trip. Which is both good and bad news, lol. The food was good. Nothing special, but good. And, boy was that place busy. The parking lot was full at 7:35pm but we went in and asked how long the wait would be, 5 minutes they said. So we went and parked our car at the edge of the Golden Corral parking lot and the little reservation buzzer went off in our hands before we made it to the door. They sat us at a booth, which was a little awkward because there were 5 of us. Ended up setting a chair at the end of the booth. We ordered the veggie platter, chicken pot pie, some kind of chicken sandwich with fries, and crispy chicken salad. NOT a fan of the chicken pot pie by the way, but whatever. The salad was good, but nothing special. It seemed to be composed of only lettuce and chicken... And there wasn't enough dressing. OH, and there was a horrible, completely rotten tomato in it. :( I'm not blaming them for that because it looked completely fine on the outside, but THAT was disgusting! Blech... To end the meal, we ordered two cookies... Not sure what they were called on the menu, but it was a big cookie in a skillet with ice cream on top. That seems to be trending nowadays... It was good, but it would have been better if the entire cookie was crispy before they put the ice cream on top. The middle of the cookie was gooey and unrecognizable under the ice cream. And none of the other desserts appealed to me, so that was a bit of a let down. read more

Love this place. It's one of my absolute favorite places to eat! The food is here at and the prices are not too bad either. We eat here a lot! Most of our experiences have been good. There have been a few bad experience but after talking to the manager or the GM it was made right. If you want good home style food that's not a buffet then CHEDDARS is the place to go. Everything I expect when I go out, and then some. It was a busy Sunday, and when I arrived I needed something immediate to eat since my blood sugar was not doing well. I received service quickly, and had to ask for a rush on my app (since I didn't have time to look at the menu yet since that was not my priority yet. The spinach dip came quickly out since I informed the bartender what was wrong. I appreciate that greatly. Then after going over the menu I asked for a recommendation between the different types of fish. The bourbon glazed salmon was delicious! Probably couldn't have chosen a better dish. Hit that sweet and savory point I was looking for. The baby carrots were perfect cooked. Use to them coming out soggy and over cooked. Which that did not happen. My baked potato, was a touch on the warm side, but extremely happy it was not microwaved to make it hot! Like what many other places do. Probably was just because it was pulled from the oven first as my dish was being plated. I will definitely go back the next time I am in town! I've not had service and quality like that in a very long time. Jordan did a great job! Next time I will have to try the chocolate cake since that is what was recommended to me from the person that told me to go there for. I regularly eat at Better Cheddars when I travel for work. Very tasty and you can get a nutritious meal if you pick carefully. So no complaints about the food. But I need to post about the weirdest experience I recently had there. The waitress sat down at my table to take my order. Didn't ask. All I have to say is...DAMN! The good kind of "damn." It's hard to find good catfish around here, but their catfish is good (and plentiful...I had to get a box). The potatoes are great, I don't normally like white gravy but theirs is really good and the potatoes have skins in them, which is how I like mine. AND THE CROISSANTS can you believe these croissants?! Because I can't. I need these croissants in my life. It was my first time going here, and I think I'll be back later. Took my Mom here for an early Mother's Day lunch and it was pretty good. My Mom likes a certain level of doneness in her steak that is often not executed very well, but her steak was juicy and full of flavor. In Springfield, this place is always busy and it is hard to get it sometimes. The best time to go is between typical mean times if you want to beat the crowds. I've eaten at two separate locations of this chain, and both were good. Last time I was here I got the chicken tender platter, but they were very dry and tasteless. Even dipping it in buffalo sauce, I wasn't completely satisfied. The fries were great though. We also got some onion rings for the table which were really delicious. The service itself was awesome, never needing to ask for refills and getting our check right on time. The prices were also amazing, not having to break the bank for a night out. First off we had the waitress waste drinks on my nephew. We all tried to bypass which we did because it was just water. As time went on the service got worse. This review is based solely on the waitstaff' inability to deal with a food allergy. We were in this afternoon for an early lunch with friends. Two of the members of our group have Celiac gluten fee menus were requested and provided. When we ordered our meal we plainly and clearly stated we have Celiac and that all aspects of our meal have to be gluten free. To our shock when our salads arrived each one had a great big croissant placed on the salad. When we asked the server why there was bread in our food she liked at us like we were imbeciles and stated "it comes with the salad". Cross contamination aside this server actually got upset with us. Recently started ordering off of their drink menu and their margaritas are amazing. The appetizers are always delicious and we'll proportioned for what you pay. The menu is great with a wide range of options that are fairly priced. I've never tried anything that wasn't good. I think a lot of people come for the chicken strips, which are delicious, but if i had to recommend one thing it would be the homemade chicken pot pie. I swear it's like a hidden gem on the menu! It's a large, homemade pie with super soft, flaky crust and filled with lots of GOOD, fresh chicken and veggies and always served hot; right out of the oven. Total comfort food. I literally crave the pot pie. If you can, try to avoid sitting toward the front in the winter months because it can get really cold. Went in on Friday March 9th @ 10:20 pm. Sat in the bar area. Had just got off work was hungry and thirsty. Our server was Sarah. My wife ordered water and I ordered a draft. I ordered a Philly steak she ordered the grilled fish. 20 minutes later the food arrives. I ordered another draft and asked for some mustard for my sandwich. Another 5 minutes go by. Still no mustard or beer. The beer finally shows up but she informs THAT THEY HAVE NO MUSTARD. You have to realize that this is a place that sells hamburgers and various sandwiches. I then thought that Sarah was blowing smoke so I asked the bartender to look for it. He returned and said we had a little bit in a bottle yesterday but I guess its gone. It had been thrown on the grille and turned over and slapped and taken off. I couldn't eat it. Killed my appetite. Almost $40 well.... Keep it to the basics here. The burger I'd had before was great.
