I love Cheddar's, the food is always great, the prices are very affordable, the atmosphere is nice. You can't miss. I love the Dijon Chicken & Mushrooms, Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, Grilled Chicken Pecan Salad, Chicken Tender Platter. They used to have a mushroom burger, hopefully will bring it back to the menu. My husband and I ate at Cheddar's late last night. It was our first time and we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed! We arrived around 9 pm and the hostess was no where to be seen. We asked if they were closed or closing soon, we always try to be respectful of the restaurant workers time, but she happily sat us. (They close at 10pm) Once we were seated, it took around 7 minutes for our waitress to introduce herself. We should have seen the red flag then and left, but we were hungry. My husband mentioned that we had never eaten here before and asked for recommendations. Our waitress cheerfully recommended ribs, among others. She said that the ribs were better than Rib Crib. He ordered them and I ordered the crispy chicken salad. For drinks, I asked for water and beer for my husband. Again, we waited.... My water came 5 minutes later and the beer another 5 minutes later. Dear readers of my review- by now you may be thinking that I'm being too harsh. "Maybe the restaurant was crowded." NOPE! There were only a small handful of people there. Back to my review.....from the time that we ordered until our food arrived was 45 minutes!!! Sadly, the food was disappointing as well as the service. My salad was okay, simple, nothing special. My poor husband's dinner was AWFUL! He said they were the worst ribs he's ever eaten! Fatty, dry, blech! That sound you just heard was me gagging. I asked for extra napkins, he is eating ribs, remember? They never came. During our dreadful dinner, I watched the other patrons also get frustrated. A couple of gentlemen waited FOREVER for their food, bill, and bill again when the incorrect amount of change was given. Same story for a family of four with two small children....endless waiting. Throughout this period of waiting, I witnessed several waiters cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, and wandering but NOT serving! I feel bad for the workers there, no one left Cheddar's satisfied. Hire new a new chef, manager, and more waiters. P. S.- during my epic wait, I looked up Cheddar's online and they have a post on Craigslist for a new manager. I wanted to try something new so I decided to come here I ordered chicken fried steak since I haven't had it in a while, and while it wasn't the worst one I've ever had it wasn't the best either. The sides were okay as well, but again all I can say is they weren't the worst or the best. What really upsets me is my server wasn't around very much, and in particular I didn't get silverware or a napkin before I had to physically get up and ask for it. I'm not someone who's stuck up and thinks, "How dare they make me get up and ask for something", etc etc etc, but I really shouldn't have to ask for basic items when I go out to eat. Living in Sherman there isn't a lot of options but me and my family go to cheddars for a lot of our family events like birthdays, holidays etc. One evening we went for my birthday and the waiter was to busy talking to Thea others coworker it took forever for out food and df Didn't get drinks until the fold came out. We were honestly going to leave but decided to stay because it was already late. So we are having a regular conversation trying to make the best out of the situation and trying to ignore a the horrible customer service we warred getting and then finally my mother asked for the manager because we asked for things and the waitress never brought the items or forgot them and had to go back mutiple times to finally retrieve the items. We talk to the manager to let him know that we weren't happy with the service and explain to him why and he seemed like he wasn't that concerned but he said our meal would be on the house and then ask us to wait a second and then came back and Ask if this was our plan all along to get a free a meal and we were completely caught off guard and got very angry and ask for the check to pay and he rudely walked away and said don't worry about it. Me and my family are all African American and my mother followed him and asked for the GM's information and he laughed in her face and gave her the number and we left without making any type of scene! The staff was great, the wait was short & the food was excellent. Our favorite menu items include the homemade onion rings, Monte Cristo sandwich, chicken strips & bacon cheeseburger. If you bring your children, ask to be seated near the large fish tank. Watching the fish kept our children occupied while waiting for the food to arrive. (As an added bonus, there is an unusual large ceiling fan in the center section that young eyes will enjoy.) read more

Avoid this place. Probably close to the worst restaurant I have eaten at. Service was fair. Food was horrible. The concept is that everything is made fresh. The loading up of every dish with onions does not qualify as "fresh made". Edamame was inedible - over cooked and limp. Tortilla soup loaded with onions and no chicken. More of a tomato broth. Ribs were 90% fat and generally Inedible. The Baja chicken was tiny with a ton of onion on a bed of overcooked rice and lukewarm black beans. The chef is clearly inexperienced because his or her fingerprints were all over my plate and the attempt to clean the mess left a smear of black beans on the rim of the plate. The ribs and edamame require plates on the side for disposal of pods and bones - neither were provided. Unfortunately no saving grace at all. Hope we don't get sick. Stay AWAY. read more

My favorite restaurant in Sherman. Apparently lots of people love this place too. Do not, I repeat, do not come at rush hour. The long line will kill you. Love their baby back ribs. You can combine that with shrimp, chicken. They also have steak. The decoration inside is a bit of tropical style. They have that big fan on the roof. Our party of three had entree salads, which were pretty good and chicken fried steak, which was sub-par (meat a bit tough, not enough gravy and the green beans were way overcooked and flavorless. Main issue is the service. Server was curt almost to the point of being rude. She would disappear and not come back to refill waters, clear plates etc. At one point she'd been AWOL and the manager and three wait staff were standing about five feet away chatting(clearly not about work). We are clearing looking for our server and the manager in particular was too busy socializing to pay attention to his customers. Finally one of the servers nudged him to check in with us. We asked for our server so that we could see the dessert menu. He was clearly disinterested, but did go tell her since she came back with a pissy attitude and said "My manager said you want me?" I was Pleasantly surprised considering the reviews. We were seated at about 8pm on a Sunday night the server came slightly after. She was upbeat & pleasant, took our drink orders and knew the menu well enough to make some suggestions. We ordered Key West chicken & tilapia w/shrimp with steamed broccoli and a side salad. Walked in on a not-so-busy day and due to an error from the hostess, we got seated in a section that no waitress / waiter got assigned to. Ended up having to wait 30 min for someone to take our drink orders. I grew up in Sherman, so when we got a Cheddar's I was pumped! Even after going off to college and living in Dallas, I always make a stop here when I visit through. We ususally sit in the bar, ask for Jason (he's awesome and will make you anything he can to make you smile!) and the girls there are very knowledgable. Other than crazy locals or kiddos that may be loud during a lunch rush, the evening dinner crowd isn't too heavy as long as a Twilight movie isn't playing. All in all, I haven't had a problem here and look forward to it when I come through town. read more

We got there at 7 and they told us the same wait time, granted it was busy we waited our wait time and went and checked with the Hispanic hostess they have and she told us she was still waiting for a table to open up. So we went back to our car and waited. Went back and checked once more and told the same thing. At this point we had waited over an hour and they didn't have anymore people waiting. When I asked her again she replied very rude "we have your number right here and when your table is ready you will receive a call!" So you're telling me that they weren't busy and in that whole restaurant there was only one specific table for my party of 7?? RIDICULOUS! Cheddar's is my favorite restaurant for the value. I love their Seafood. My favorites are the Bourbon Glazed Salmon, Grilled Shrimp, and Blackened Catfish. Their Service is great, especially the Certified Trainers. All the cocktails are awesome, and my favorite is the Grande Margarita. The sides are good too; favorites are the salads (only 99 cents extra with meal), Loaded Baked Potato, Santa Fe Spinach Dip, and the Monster Cookie are a must have. read more

Ordered salads to come out before our meal and they came out after our meal came to the table. I took one bite of my fish and it had a bone. Ok that happens. My wife and I stopped by Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen last night and I have to tell everyone what an wonderful experience this was. This our very first experience. We arrived at 6 pm and the parking lot was full and we thought they could be a major wait to get a table. Not the case. Walked in and was immediately seated. The place was packed and now we know why. We both ordered the Grilled Chicken and Pecan Salad ($9.49) and glass of ice tea. This was served with a croissant that had a sweet glaze on top. We also ordered a honey mustard dressing to top everything off. What an amazing choice of salads. Overall we had great service, reasonable prices, and wonderful dining experience. We highly recommend you give this establishment a try. We will definitely be back! read more

First let me say my burger and fries tasted good but that's were it stoped. First our waiter took our drink order I asked for a particular type of drink. Neither him or the bartender new if they did. I looked at menu and noticed they did. I asked for no salt on rim came out with salt. He did switch with new glass. Then the chip and queso came out and the bowl of salsa had spilled on plate and most of the chips either broken or greasy. The burger came out and the plate was messy the toppings were all under the fries, a very poor presentation. Our waiter was nice enough but was either or just not cut out for this line of work. Went to Chedders in Sherman, Tx today for lunch. I usually get their catfish for lunch. Their catfish is great and I was looking forward to eating some catfish but they removed it from the menu. I asked the waitress about it being removed a d her reply was, it has always been whitefish(swai) which I know different. Then she said it was the same fish, which I know is different. She also said they did not tell her anything different. She also said that catfish is not local... but when you look at the menu, it plainly states that the swai is imported. Was almost finished with my salad and then I bit down on a long ace broken off acrylic nail! Needless to say I was disgusted, the whole table lost their appetite. The manager claimed no one is allowed to wear acrylic nails so he doesn't know where it came come. How reassuring! Will not be eating there ever again. And with COVID going around I'm seriously freaked out about having that foreign object in my mouth that carries God knows how many germs. They took my meal off the ticket and gave me a voucher for next time. I'm not from here so I won't be using it even if I lived in the area. No chicken fried(country fried) steak.. no meatloaf... and no monster cookie??? I would have left if we hadn't already ordered drinks and appetizers. I was contacted by a manager of this restaurant and he was genuinely concerned with what I had to say about our experiences at this location. He sent us comps for the meal we had. We did not advise the restaurant that we had comps until after we ate, and we went on Friday night when the restaurant was really busy - not to test them, but it was when we were all in Sherman together. I kid you not, this was probably the best service I've received from a waitress this whole year. I do know this is the best service I've seen at this restaurant in 3. Again, I haven't been frequenting this location because their service ruined the experience. The manager that was on duty was visiting tables (not the same manager from our last visit) and he actually brought refills to our table. I don't see managers helping staff out that way often - kudos to him. I cannot think of a single thing they could have done differently on this visit to make the meal better. I asked to speak to the manager and when I told him how good the waitress was, he said that they have recognized her and she is training other staff. This was a 5 star experience. This dinner far exceeded what I expect from a chain restaurant. *** I keep trying to give this place a chance but they disappoint over and over again. I'd say they do ok about 1 in 3 visits. I won't go into all the issues over past but most recently they were bringing out meals with no flatware on the table. We did not get salads that come with meal and we had to tell the waitress the salads came with the meal when we asked about it. We had to beg for 15 minutes to get lemons for our drinks. When flatware did arrive, only one set was brought out and the waitress had to search for more. All the time food is sitting on the table getting cold. I do believe there was a manager on duty but he was standing there watching the chaos and not approaching any tables. Some food was ok but the steak was tough. This is a new low for this place. The most common issues are caused by someone other than the waiter bringing the food out - and it's usually wrong and one tends to just eat what comes out. I don't go too often anymore but I used to really like the place so I keep giving second chances.
