I wasn't too impressed with Cheddars. It is like any other chain restaurant similar to a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but with a smaller menu. I had the Spasagna which is basically a lasagna with spaghetti instead of lasagna noodles. I don't think I tasted any ricotta, just mozzarella. The sauce was thick, but had an overpowering sweetness that ruined the flavor. My dad had their fish from the lite menu which was dry and tasteless. Bad service, slow food delivery and unresponsive to email. Stopped in on Tuesday 8/22 for lunch. Waited nearly 10 minutes to be acknowledged, took another 5 minutes to get waters. When asked for straws, as the server is turning her back and walking off, hateful stated, "they are in the silverware wrapups". Now, just how were we to have known this. Then to wait nearly 30 minutes for a salad and Alfredo (neither had to be cooked). Neither arrived with the required bread. Server never checked on us and no management on the floor. THEN 3 hours later....well, you know what happened and happened and happened. Sent an email to corporate office with no response. Maybe someone from Cheddar's will see this. This place was gross. My friends raved about it, but it was your typical chain restaurant experience. I ordered the chicken fried steak and when the waitress placed this massive portion in front of me, I knew I was in trouble. It was bland, the steak was tough and overdone, over breaded and over sauced. The gravy....ugh, the gravy. The gravy was sweet! I ordered a side of steamed baby carrots and they were overly sweet. I came out with my boyfriend and his mom last night to celebrate my bfs birthday. After standing at the door for 10 minutes without a single person acknowledging us, we were sat in the bar area. We patiently waited an additional 30 minutes while servers and bartenders appeared to intentionally walk around pillars and sections in order to avoid us. After deciding to leave we realized that the family who walked in with us were still waiting in the lobby. We told the wife that we had yet to been greeted after both of us arrived at approximately 9:08pm. We decided to leave at 9:45. The restaurant closes at 10. There was no reason for there not to be a host or manager to greet incoming guests. I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and have never had an experience like this. My husband and I went there for dinner tonight for two however a cockroach decided to invite himself to our table. I immediately left after telling the waiter. My husband waited for the manager. The manager saw the roach and killed it on the table. The manager explained that they spray and sometimes when they spray more come out. Needless to say we will not be back EVER! read more

Food used to taste great now it is nasty. We complained to corporate, the manager called and tried to apologize, but on a followup trip the food was just as bad. Potatoes had black rotted roots, salad was dripping in dressing and came out soggy, tables were sticky from rags that hadn't been properly sanitized, and wait staff looked sloppy (shirts untucked, uniforms too tight to look professional, and covered in food). My husband and I usually go out for dinner on Friday and we decided to take a chance of Cheddars, which I had heard praised many times over from friends who live in Pooler. Got there around 630pm and had to wait 20 minutes--it was obviously quite popular! Good atmosphere, attentive waitstaff, clean and modern bathrooms, lots of happy families and kids. We decided to start with the onion rings, which came piled in a veritable tower of golden, batter-dipped goodness with ranch and Cajun-style dipping sauces; please note, there is only one size: HUGE! It would take at least two couples/4 people to finish this goodie! The onion rings reminded me a lot of Carey Hilliards: crispy, golden, crunchy, delicious! We could only eat half the order and put the remaining ones in a box (popped in the over for 15 min. on Sat. they were still good!) My husband ordered the chicken-fried steak with fries and seasoned rice. The steak looked good, but I found the flavor rather bland--honestly, IHOP on Victory Drive has a much better one, or maybe Cracker Barrel. He said the seasoned rice was quite good. I had the chicken finger-baby back ribs (half-slab) combo with steamed broccoli and coleslaw. The ribs were so tender you could pull the meat right off the bone, but he sauce is too sweet for my personal taste, but other than that I have no complaints about them--Sticky Finger's ribs are just better all around. The broccoli was bright green, fresh looking, nicely steamed without being either mushy or too crunchy and the cole slaw was fresh and tasty. The meat of the chicken fingers was tender, and you get a huge pile of them--however, for me, the crust was too hard and crunchy and didn't have much flavor. The one thing that blew me AWAY was a side order of 3 delicate croissants (only $1.79) dripping with honey and butter--a golden, flaky mouthful of heavenly taste & texture!-- and totally worth the entire trip! This is a big family place with plentiful food at really low prices and good ambiance; I tend to think that repeated trips where one can experiment and try a little something different each time, is what's needed--that way you figure out what they do well--for YOU--and what to avoid. Nothing was particularly bad or inedible, and what was good was REALLY good, so we came away with a good impression, definitely intending to return soon! As a side note, my hubby and I have good appetites and the figures to prove it, but we filled TWO take-out boxes with the remainders of the dinner and had enough for lunch the next day---an excellent deal! OK--second trip back & update: Went there on a weekend and I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, looks good, tastes, eh, just OK--I kept adding pepper and had to ask for hot sauce, because, honestly, just not much flavor--pretty bland. Stuffed potato skins, just OK. Hubby's Philly Cheese steak sandwich, meh, nothin' special. The apple pie, however, was great! a HUGE slice served with ice-cream, easily enough for two people, And, of course, the croissants are still orgasmically delicious! Final take on Cheddars: Not bad, not great, but a good deal for the low prices, nice place, but the food, in general is pretty bland, big, American style---bring your hot sauce or favorite condiment or shake-on spice, and maybe that will help... read more

Went to Cheddars because the hotel guest services recommended it. Waitress was too busy talking to take care of our order. We ordered appetizer and they never showed up. Entrees served and then finally appetizer where brought out by with half of them burnt. So they made another half order and brought them at the same time as the bill. Manager took them off bill but he never stopped by to check on us. Entrees were okay. Prices were good. Maybe on a different night with a different waitress it might have been a different experience. read more

We haven't been to Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen for over 2 years and decided to give it another chance, but didn't turn out the way we thought because the moment we walked in the door the servers didn't come and greet us and finally after 20 minutes. The servers went and sat us down and we literally sat there for 15 straight minutes then we were finally greeted by the manager and got our drinks and 3 appetizers. We had to ask for silver ware and straws. While waiting for our entrees we ran out of water and never got our refills. When we got our entrees they were the worst. We asked for our steaks to be medium and medium rare. The medium turned into well well done and medium rare turned bloody rare. WE WONT EVER GO BACK AND GIVE ANOTHER CHANCE!! Appetizer came out late. Food was good, no problems there. Other than it taking 45 minutes. Price was affordable and worth the value. No explanation of why service was slow. Called at 630pm en route to pooler to place a to go order - a half sandwich & soup and a chicken fried steak dinner. Was told it would be ready in about 20 mins. Showed up to the restaurant around 7:00-7:05 to pick up the order and the hostess sent a girl back to the kitchen to grab it for me. After about 10 mins she sent another girl back to check on the order after the first girl never returned. Then the second girl never returned either. Finally almost another 10 mins later the manager brings the bag of food out to me (about 720 pm). I try to look through the bag the best I can while he's holding it and notice there's a pot pie in there that I didn't order. He apologizes and says they must have put that in there instead of the soup. He goes back to grab the soup and when he returns i put it in the bag and leave, unable to check the rest of the food. Upon arriving home about 15 mins later I realize they didn't include the gravy for the chicken fried steak! So I got to enjoy that dry. I normally like cheddars but I must say I am very disappointed tonight. I feel like they may have forgot to cook the order and tried to whip it up real quick when I arrived to pick it up. Eaten here several times over the last two years. Never had any complaints until recently. Not sure what changed but something did. Reviews aged a few month and years seem to be much better than more current ones. My most recent two experiences seem to confirm that. Trip one last week were seated and ignored by two waitresses. One which was working the one side of the isle, walked by at least half a dozen times In the 15 mins we sat their and never even looked at us, let along acknowledge us. Meanwhile, the "training waitress" whom is overseeing this section a mere 10 feet away at a cpu station, watched over us with about as much interest in tending to us as the other, presumably, in training waitress. I had to wave at the second girl before she begrudgingly came over to help. Little empathy at all. Second trip, service was slow, but place was packed. Somewhat understandable. Food order came out wrong, was never rectified. Food was ok, but again seemed like it wasn't as fresh as in the past, like it had been setting for a long time. Ask for our ticket to pay, waited 30 mins for our ticket, yes, 30! This includes two subtle reminders every 10 mins about our check. Finally get check w only explanation a cpu issue. Why couldn't that have been told to me before, I would have been more understandable. Ask to speak with General manager, who simply reinforces the country issue, offers no apology, and walks away. We recently went to Cheddar's and it was my first time there. I have to say that I'm actually pretty impressed with the place and would probably go back. The food was really good, especially the chicken fried chicken and loaded mashed potatoes. It did take awhile for the food to come out, but its understandable because the place was packed! We had a great waitress and she made sure we had what we needed the whole time with a smiling face. This is one of the better restaurants that I've been to in awhile. read more

The server was apologetic and said they are short staffed. I understood these things happen and let it go. My coworkers and I came back to Cheddars for our manager's 30 year retirement dinner. We called ahead to give them a heads up a week before and the day of that we would be a party of 20. The service was terrible. They had 1 server for our whole section who kept telling us how he was about to quit. Salads took 45 mins to come to the table. Some people did not receive their appetizers. Food came out cold or not at all. We waited about 1.5-2 hours for food. I know we had a large party, but that is ridiculous. I feel like they should have been upfront that they would not be able to accommodate us and allowed us to take our business elsewhere. The pooler location definitely needs to get it together. I don't know if I'll be back considering the many other choices around. read more

The few times I have visited Cheddar's and it has been nice enough to eat outdoors they are never serving outside! The inside is obnoxiously loud with music, TV's, and people in general. We visited Thursday December 27....this was my first time to any of your restaurants. My fiancé has often mentioned how much he loves dining here so I was really looking forward to our meal. We noticed you were busy so we decided to take a seat at the bar. The bar was overflowing with dirty glasses and overall complete disorganization. The bartender asked if we wanted a drink and I asked what sweetwater beer was on tap he said he didn't know. There were 5-6 taps so I was surprised by this. After the bartender never came back we got up and decided to wait for a table. We sat at the table for about 15 Minutes before I tracked down a busser to ask where our server was. Our server got our drink and appetizer order. We ordered two rum and diet cokes and two shots. She brought over 4 shots with no coke or ice. We also ordered water. The drinks took about 15 Minutes but the limes and lemons that were supposed to be on the drinks took an additional 10 min. The appetizer we ordered was the queso dip. The dip was good but the chips were not very chip -like. They were kind of chewy but also hard but wouldn't break when you bit them...we each ordered salads we never got. Our entrees came out with the wrong sides. I got the sirloin and grilled shrimp which wasn't bad- the side of broccoli was way over cooked. My fiancé got the salmon which he didn't eat at all. I ordered the same drink again and I was brought rum and coke in a tiny glass. How could a server AND bartender not know what glass to put a rum and coke in and that it should be over ice!!?? We spoke to a manager who apologized but didn't give much of an explanation other than that they were busy... the server had already told us they are that busy every Thursday so I don't know why they weren't prepared...The manager paid for our food thankfully because we didn't receive or eat most of it. In tune with other reviews, the value here is worthwhile. The food is decent and on par with an Applebees or Ruby Tuesday; a dinner for two including a few drinks can easily be done for $40 or less. I give them credit for attempting to make it feel more upscale; waiters in ties and a menu that looks like it'd be more expensive than it actually is - so it's a nice shot at making average American food a little more than just your average chain variety (which is basically what it is). I stopped in on Easter Sunday for a quick lunch before getting on I-95 (yes its very conveniently located). It was quiet when we got in, our waitress called us and everyone else "darlin'" and was slightly overzealous (read: overly attentive). She immediately apologized for the fact that there were a few flies in the dining area - compliments to the fact the front door was open when we arrived. I felt bad for the table that was seated after us in the same section, the flies sort of congregated around them. The few that were flying around seemed to be attracted to this one part of the restaurant we were in (which had a lot of natural light), and that big party became rather disgusted and got up and walked out. The flies left us alone, but it was a bit unnerving to see flies in an indoor restaurant. The manager really should have made sure the front door was shut (I understand the open door is like "welcoming" in your customers, but when it also lets in bugs and deters customers, you should take note!). If you're still reading now that you heard about the flies... (I gave this a 3 instead of a 2 because I went there once for dinner last summer and there were no flies so I don't think it's a recurring problem.) Since it was Sunday, no drinks in Georgia til 12:30 p.m. so we just drank water. Had the chicken fiesta nachos to start, which were really tasty but could've used extra sour cream. I really liked that each chip had its own heap of chicken, queso, cheese, etc. right on top - no scooping needed. I ordered the potato soup which was okay, it didn't taste homemade but it was fine. My boyfriend had the Monte Cristo with fries, which I tried. Don't recommend the fries, they're not good enough to warrant the calories (at all!) but I liked the sandwich, it was like a sweet and salty grilled cheese with ham and a side of raspberry jam. I would have it again. For both of us to share an app and have lunch, it was under $25 with tip. I've also tried their buffalo chicken finger wrap (last summer, I believe along with a margarita, which was also tasty) and that was pretty good. If you're looking for something quick and easy, it's a good place to stop. If you want something less chain-like, go the extra 15 miles into the downtown Savannah area for some more impressive food options. read more

We've given it a try several times and I'm just not impressed. Cheddars has really built up the menu since the last time I went which is a plus more diverse and more options. For how busy they get you would think they would have more servers and support staff. Everyone is rushing around and they are constantly forgetting something when you ask them to help complete a meal or they forget to bring sides. The servers are not around often to check in on you but the lack of service makes up for the fresh hot food. When going with 2 of my friends for a night out we waited 10 minutes to be seated ( which wasn't bad being a Saturday night) but then waited 50 minutes for food and they forgot some parts to my friends meal. We didn't bother asking for them because our server was nowhere to be found. By the time he came we were just ready to go. Hopefully they will add more staff to this location so they can improve customer service wise. read more

This was the third time we've given this place a chance over a period of about seven years. Nothing has changed. The food is decent and worth the money, but the service is so unbelievably slow. We sat around with our drinks not wanting to have any because the server didn't give us straws and disappeared. Turns out the straws were hidden inside the rolled up napkins. Our server's name was Jarrad and he was the most personable server we have had in a long time. We were very impressed with this place. My husband had a rack of ribs (recommended by people we sat near) and I had a steak. The steak has no fat, was cooked perfectly and wonderful flavor. I also had a baked potato (um-no) and broccoli and cheese casserole (yum). Bit of a wait for food but we had a croissant which is so good that it was like dessert first.
