It seems to always be a risk to eat out on Sunday since that seems to be the day where more restaurants suffer from staffing and management shortages and issues. Our visit to the Pooler Applebees a few Sundays ago was no different. We were seated near the kitchen, at a table next to a large 8 top that still had not been cleared from the previous party. It stayed dirty for 30 minutes while we heard an argument happening between servers on whose responsibility it was to clear it. We were also surprised to be given plastic flatware instead of the usual stainless. (Photo). I'm only giving them two stars because they tried to fix last night. We went out expecting a nice dinner after the place we wanted to go to is originally closed and very hard to get to so we decided to try here because it popped up on Uber. It made a suggestion and I figured you know why not we always order from them why don't we go there. What a big mistake. This was last night because we had gotten there. They originally told us 25 minutes for two people it wasn't 25 minutes even though it was for limited service so we said fine. I guess we'll stay. We should've just left at that right but we got seated a little early. The manager was very nice to us. We ordered breadsticks, two drinks and pretzels, which were actually reasonably good. That should've been the only thing we bought that night in fact, it was so good that we had before we left, but our main trees were completely ruined and they took them off our orders. The chicken was like rubber it looked freezer burnt and old and like the head microwave that it was absolutely horrible. No, we did not eat those odors. No did we not eat those entrées? We told them to tell them to take them off the order which they kindly did. This is why I'm giving them the stars that they are only too because it was that bad. They try to be decent servers. We really appreciate that but the food quality needs to be fixed. I mean this is horrible. I know it's an Applebee's but there's no reason why the food should be the way it was. It's like it was freezer dried out and not any good which it was Maybe we'll give him another chance on Uber, but that's about it. A simple meal.. I typically order much larger meals, like a burger or ribs. My wife put in the order for us. She ordered Grilled chicken and broccoli, with a side salad instead of the mashed potatoes for both of us. The chicken was perfectly well seasoned and was very tasty. The broccoli was soft and flavorful. The side salad was disappointing and just thrown together. We were driving by and did curbside pickup, which is very convenient. Took awhile to get the food...wings ok but no celery and nothing to offset that it was because the "kitchen was out of celery." Then, service was essentially nonexistent and had to catch others as they walked by to even get small plates for the appetizer. When the food did come out, medium well steak was way well done and the salmon plate had hair in it. They brought 2 mall plates (we were three so doubting isn't their strong aspect) and one had food residue on it. Waiting and waiting, no apologies or anything and eventually just grabbed the inattentive manager to just tell them to make it to go since that took forever. Did take it off the bill anyway. Not one minute of an apology from the manager. Went to actually eat it and it was as dry as a bone. The entire meal when we got back and so inedible it got trashed. We were not greeted upon entry. About 5 minute in were advised that someone would be with us shortly... It took about 10-12 minutes before we were seated and about 10 minutes before a server came to the table. It wasn't packed but they were short staffed and not managing very well.... I had the spinach dip , my friend had a burger and some boneless wings. The burger was burnt to a crisp and had to be remade. The server was kind about it. Overall the experience was pretty poor as several people hadn't received their food and was asking to speak the a manger. A gentleman that entered immediately following us had not received his appetizer and we were almost done with our meal. Hopefully they will get the staff they need. The bar area is well tended! Somewhat busy, but this guy tending the bar and tables around it was friendly and he hustled! Great job. I'll be back for this kind of service! My food was very good- better than expected, actually. Had a grilled chicken Caesar salad and it was too big to finish. Tasty little breadstick. Others in my group had hot meals that were served right out of the oven and delicious! We haven't been here in a while due to a few bad visits at another location. I'm happy to say we were seated quickly and our waitress was over right away. She was very pleasant and quickly came back with our drinks. She also made good food suggestions. Our food also came out very quickly which was nice. We had the mozzarella sticks and the spinach and artichoke dip. Both were very tasty. Some of our meals were five's and some were three's. The bourbon chicken and shrimp for one was a three. Chicken was good but the shrimps were "shrimpy" - as in small. The quesadilla burger on the other hand was a five. Perfect blend of flavors. The steak was also very nicely prepared. Unfortunately, the chicken tenders fell flat. Not sure exactly what was going on with them but they did not taste great. Overall a nice night though. My husband and I came here for lunch and we were not overall satisfied with our experience. But let me say the customer service was great! When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess. She did quote us about a 20 to 30 minute wait and that did not bother us at all. She got my phone number and told me that we would receive a text message once our table is ready. We waited in the car and received the text in 30 minutes. We walked inside and were seated quickly. Our waiter was kind but he seemed maybe new and just a little lost. I ordered the strawberry margarita and I wasn't to pleased with it. We ordered the classic combo as an appetizer which consisted of mozzarella cheese sticks, quesadillas, buffalo boneless wings and chips with salsa and spinach artichoke dip. The mozzarella cheese sticks were the best tasting item in the combo. The chips tasted stale, the wings were super crispy and the quesadillas barely had any filling in them. My husband ordered the steak, mash potatoes and broccoli and he enjoyed his food! I got the Tex-Mex shrimp bowl which consisted of shrimp, lettuce cilantro rice, pico de gallo, black bean corn salsa, guacamole, chimichurri, and tortilla strips and I just found it to be okay. The inside consisted of many tables, booths, high top tables, a bar and many TV's to look at throughout the restaurant. The inside is updated and nice. I hadn't been to an Applebee's in a long long time. I thought I'd give it a try. I came in with very low expectations as it seemed to be pretty crowded and low staffing. Moni greeted us with a friendly smile and an outgoing attitude and found us a table immediately. Moni was also our waitress and she did an amazing job. We ordered the 2 for $22 because we wanted to make sure they can get their basic specialities right. I kept it simple with a cheeseburger and we got the spinach and artichoke dip for our appetizer. Everything tasted great, came out at a reasonable time, ZERO complaints. Like I initially stated, I came in with low expectations and left very shocked with how good of a time we had. Atmosphere - 2 stars Food - 0 stars, I can give zero here as it is my scoring system! Service - 1 star Background - My parents love their chain restaurants. Atmosphere -  I have never been to a Applebee's that looked so modern with an industrial vibe.  The floor was sticky in a lot of places but disgustingly under the table we sat at. Food Appetizer - Classic Trio Dip, chips were blah and many of them were folded over during the cooking process leaving some thick under cooked spots.  Chipotle lime salsa was just smokey and over powering the taste of everything else.  The Guac was actually pretty good except for their knife skills leaving some very large pieces of onion in the dip.  The Queso, I tried and it was nothing to write home about, but my daughter loved it. Drink - At this point the only menu we have is on our phones.  Which for some reason was not for me, but worked on my wife's phone, and we have the same model.  I asked our waiter if they had any local beers, I got a puzzled look.  I took off my mask and asked again.  Still puzzled, and I got the response let me get you the drink menu.  I ended up with Yuengling Lager as there was nothing local. Meal- The drink menu was also their normal menu, and found a prime rib dip.  Menu in my hand had no description for the sandwich.  I love a great French dip.  Online the menu description is so long it is cut off, "Thinly sliced prime rib topped with grilled onions and melted American cheese. Served on a toasted Cheddar roll with our house-made herb mayo..."  A cheddar roll is different but the herb mayo is way out there for a dip, and it should be on the physical menu description.  The sandwich came with a side of fries.  My meal sucked, and that is me being polite.  The French fries were cold, my daughter also had French fries with her meal.  They were hot according to her and my mom.  To the point where they were almost burning hot.  My sandwich made my French fries look perfect.  I probably took three bites of the one half, which almost finished if off.  The prime rib was over cooked, the texture was if you had leather shoes that the rain had soaked and then left out in 100 plus degree weather to dry.  At this point jerky prime rib would have been better.  The bread was over toasted leaving rough pieces to go along with the tough meat.  A very very sad sandwich. Service - I know the CDC guidelines have changed for mask wearing recently but our hostess was wearing her mask below her nose.  I thought maybe it slipped down one time, but every time I saw her she was wearing it that way.  Our waiter clearly did not want to be there.  Above I disgust his knowledge of beers earlier, or lack there of.  My sandwich sucked and and had pushed it to the middle of the table very early in the meal.  He never came back to the table until the group was finishing up with their meals.  I was so pissed I did not want another sandwich and fries.  I was actually trying to get his attention with the bad fries and then the sandwich.  He was lucky my parents paid the bill.  He did indicate that he would take my sandwich off the bill, whether that happened or not I do not know. Stopped in to this Applebees which is like no other I've visited before as far as the design and decor. This was not my first visit. On this day I was brave and tried something new. It was during the 3-6pm happy hour. Waitress was pretty cool. The nachos were on special so I said what the heck I will give them a try. They were really good, minus the onions but you cant not get the onions because they are in the sauce. I enjoyed them alot! Shoot this is making me want some, may have to stop in. Myra the review. Applebee's has a great location in Pooler right next to the Tanger Outlets. After an evening of shopping, my boyfriend and I were parked within walking distance of the restaurant and we were starving. The gentleman who greeted us was great, and the restaurant is newer so it's in good condition. Our waiter was nice, but we felt a little rushed the whole time. We ordered the 2 for $25 special, which is a great deal! You get two full entrees and an app. We got the spinach and artichoke dip to start, which we liked. The entrees were a little subpar. I had the 6oz sirloin with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was decent, but the green beans and garlic mashed potatoes were so inundated with salt and garlic! My boyfriend's ribs came out cold and his broccoli had little flavor. Overall, it's not a bad place to get a cheap meal on the fly. I did feel like the food was pretty subpar. It's not my first choice as far as chain restaurants, but their new location and happy hour deals are pretty sweet. read more

Each time I needed something I'd have to flag her down. She was more comfortable having long conversations with the corner of the bar versus making sure she was checking in on everyone. Idk what's going on. If you don't have the staff, you need longer wait times so that you can make sure you're catering to all of the customers already seated. Drinks were fine, and food was okay. I would give zero stars if I could! Walked in and the host seemed to be on some sort of drugs... He took 2 minutes to wipe 3 tables that were right by the host stand. Someone said they received a message their table was ready, and he said okay but proceeded to sit down another party, and when he came back to the stand asked the women how many as if he was putting them on a list...... I was absolutely baffled and then he asked us what the name for our table was... we told him the minute we walked in 5 minutes prior. I proceeded to ask him, "Are you okay?" He proceeded to say "I'm tired. My manager has be f&$@-$: with me all day." My boyfriend offered to help clean tables, and ask the waiter if we could be seated for him."
