We were immediately greeted and seated in the back room and brought our drink order quickly. I ordered the chicken tender platter with mashed potatoes and fries (don't judge me) and hubs ordered the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Both came out hot and fresh, order was a little messed up here and there but was immediately fixed. This Cheddar's is no longer a decent place to dine. I ordered a Monte Cristo and it was served cold. The waiter did offer to replace it but when the manager brought the replacement (after a long wait), the second was colder than the first. I asked the manager how they managed to screw up the dish twice in a row and his response was "I don't know". This location is a poor excuse for a Cheddar's and should just close. read more

We come to this Cheddars all the time so I'm giving it a 5 star because almost always the food is consistently good and fresh. Most of the staff is friendly and attentive. They have a gluten free menu that can be found online. My only 2 negative comments is that the bathrooms need to be cleaned better and yesterday I ordered my (often regular) order of chicken pecan salad with honey mustard dressing. They made the salad with iceberg lettuce which it's always been made in the past with better quality lettuce and they left off the candied pecans. The only reason I mention this is because I also ate at another location this month with my mom and they did the same thing. So I am hoping they are not trying to be cheap and change the salad because it was definitely not as good and not worth the price with ice-burg lettuce alone. What happened to this place!? This used to be one of my favorite go-to's for good comfort food, but not anymore!!! I appreciate they make you wait in your car before being seated at spaced out tables, but what's the point if nothing else is clean!? This place was sticky and disgusting. Even my utensils were dirty (pictures posted), and there were sticky splatters all over the booths. Even their own POS stations looked like they hadn't been wiped down in who knows how long. If the dining room is that dirty, I don't want to know what the kitchen looks like. As for service, it wasn't good either. Our server was rude and when we asked him to take away the bread plates, he said "yah" with an attitude and just walked away leaving them sit. The food was the only thing decent about this visit. The food its self was okay. It is not as good as it once was. The croissants are still pretty good. The service was not so great. They brought out half of the food we ordered than at that time they let us know that two meals we ordered they were out of. Which was frustrating as we would have had to wait to eat while everyone was eating. I've been to Cheddars twice now. As American Casual restaurants go, it's pretty good comfort food. The food is made from scratch which isn't as common in this area as it is in others. The menu is updated ever so often and there aren't really bad choices. Lots of steak, burger and chicken options with some great white fish, shrimp and salads thrown in the mix. I tried the bourbon glazed pork shops with mashed potatoes and southern green beans. A few house made onion rings were added for value. Yay! Overall I was hungry and it was satisfying. I think Cheddar's knows what they are doing. Right now the server brings a complimentary croissant warns and drizzled with honey butter to the table. They have an extensive menu and they do a lot of combos. For example, they pair their ribs with chicken strips, grilled shrimp or coconut shrimp. Plus you get to pick your sides. Everyone seems fond of the broccoli cheddar casserole but they also have loaded baked potatoes, red beans and rice, cole slaw, fries, green beans, carrots etc. Since my last review I had the blackened tilapia...light and tasty. This time I did have the ribs and coconut shrimp. The shrimp is some of the most flavorful I have had. The coconut flavor really shined. My wife ordered a salad. She got to the bottom of her salad and this bug was sitting at the bottom. We got the manager to show them and told her we have no intention of staying. This is hard for me to write out. This location has been a favorite of mine for many years and it hurts to see it fall from grace so hard over the course of...about a month? I'm not sure the exact reason why they are understaffed, with 90 minute waits to merely be seated at a near-empty restaurant, same with ordering online. I witnessed a woman get told to go back to place an order over a freaking phone that neither of us knew how to operate, and no one was around to help. This place is on the brink of death and it really sucks. I can only assume that this place doesn't have enough incentives to keep its staff around, and has left it a shell of its former self. The way this restaurant is, currently, is completely unacceptable. Give your workers more incentives, help it succeed. Or keep turning away customer after customer who don't want to wait 90 minutes to be seated at an empty restaurant, when there's a perfectly good Houlihan's next door. I can't shake the feeling this location will go under soon. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because despite everything, the food was delicious. Get your act together. read more

Cheddars is always a great option when you're having a hard time picking a restaurant that everyone agrees on because they have a little bit of everything! Pastas, steaks, seafood, chicken etc etc. I went with the chicken tender and shrimp platter. Comes with two sides of your choice! My husband got the Buffalo chicken wrap with fries. Both were hefty servings and everything came out hot and crispy. I was also very appreciative because there was quite a bit of a wait time and that can be challenging especially with a 18 month old and when we were seated we were brought out hot croissants with a honey butter glaze and our baby girl ate those up! We have been waiting for an hour and a half. They say they don't have enough servers. If they can't staff their restaurant they should just close it. Was excited when I saw there was a Cheddars SK in the area and promptly sought it out. Upon arrival the parking lot was full at 8:05pm on Saturday evening. Upon entry was told by the hostess there was a wait for a table or "immediate" service at the bar top. Proceeded to the bar and found a seat a the end of the bar. From there the experience went down hill...... After 5 minutes I was given a menu and was able to order my beverages (there were 2 other couples at the bar top). 5 minutes later the actual bar tender came and asked what drinks I needed to order.... Besides Zac bringing me my beverages that I ordered that was the last I saw of either the bar tender or Zac. For 35 minutes I sat there waiting to place my meal order. I watched customers come and go at the bar top. Overheard how painful Zac's tattoo was on his wrist that took around 3 hours. Overheard the bar tended telling her customers at the other end of the bar that she could make "TO GO" alcoholic drinks and that she added some extra for them. Finally another customer came up to the bar top and asked for a to-go cup and that is when Zac saw that my beverages were empty and asked if I wanted a refill. I asked for my check and to speak to a manager. Finally after another 5 minutes a man with long dreads came up to me and was very passive and all he could say was sorry. Came here with 3 other people. We did have about a 45 min. wait, but we were also there at noon. I believe they were short staffed too. Our service is the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars- it wasn't bad, but it could have been better. Our waitress was a little standoffish & the service was pretty slow. If we had plans directly after the meal we would most certainly have been late. Again- I'm sure this was due to their being short staffed. Anyway, our food was good and I would probably come here again. It might not be my first choice in all of Overland Park, but if I was in the area then it would be at the top of the list. There was also trash on the floor throughout the restaurant. There was an empty table that had a lot of food on the floor around it. We were there for at least an hour and no one cleaned it up. McDonalds is cleaning than this restaurant. Our server had so many stains on her shirt that it looked like she rolled around on the floor of the kitchen. The food was good and service was ok. Cheddar's is a longtime favorite because they are always consistent. My most recent visit 2 days ago did not disappoint. The food and service has been great before & during the Pandemic. They are polite, professional, kind and caring on each visit. I enjoy the variety of the menu as well. So much to choose from & no matter what I select, it's cooked just right with plenty to enjoy & enough to take home & did I mention the hot, mouth-watering croissants? Yum, yum! Does not seem like one employee had anything but a grim face during the visit. Food was so-so, like maybe cold Sonic food. They definitely charge for each additional item while not bringing other items as planned. Lemonade came out and then the kids chocolate milk came out 5 minutes later. Spinach dip never arrived. Cheese dip was charged for but did not come with chips. Baked potato did not come out, but again charged for. Credit card was never returned so since I had to get online to cancel the card, I thought I would spend another moment with a review. Had a late lunch here the other day with a friend who uses a very large walker. The young guy seating us was very accommodating and sat us at a table with room for the walker. We were still a little crowded so he moved some tables around till we were comfortable. I was a little leery eating here as I prefer to avoid chain restaurants and their selection of super high calorie junk food. Cheddar's has some options however, and we both ordered a grilled fish entree that was delicious! My friend is a bit of a picky eater and was disappointed that one of the sides, a broccoli casserole, had onions in it (after asking about it), and she seemed to not really like the amount of spices on the fish, so she just scraped it off. I thought it was great though and would order this again. We ordered another meal to go, and it was promptly brought with the check. My waiter, whose name was Lukas, was unwelcoming, and had an attitude of laziness. Although the restaurant was nearly empty, he never asked if I needed anything, nor did he offer to refill my drink. I overheard him saying to another waitperson that he "had finally gotten some sleep . . ." This isn't my concern, as a patron. Also he pointed to the computer app on the table, and condescending asked if I knew how to use it, instead of presenting me with my bill.
