We went there on Monday, 2-9, to celebrate a family birthday. We made a 6 pm reservation for our party of 8 plus a toddler. First of all, the tables are far enough apart that you don't feel crowded and the whole vibe is really nice and relaxing. Our server, BODHE, was very attentive, quick, friendly and knowledgeable about our menu questions. He kept our drink glasses filled and checked on us frequently. Between our party of 8, we ordered the All Burger No BS, the Diablo Burger, the Mac and Cheese with bacon, another M and C with brisket, a Smash Burger and a grilled cheese. We had fries and tots and although their fries are really good, the tater tots are EXCELLENT! Their specialty dipping sauces are great as well. Most of us were too full for shakes but someone had a Birthday Bash shake and it was good too. This was my husband's and my 2nd time eating here but the first time for everyone else. It's a pretty impressive looking burger! Two patties stacked with all of the fixin's makes for a tall sandwich. The problem with that is it's really a mess to eat. I guess that's what napkins are for. On our visit for a late lunch recently, they weren't very busy and the service was good. I asked for medium temp on my sandwich but what we both got was well-done. The french fries were hot and crispy and I really like the presentation--in a mini fryer basket. I'm hoping the over-cooked hamburger was a fluke and will give them another try. They certainly have a great reputation. read more

Our family saw the Blitzen's projection on the side of the hotel from K10 in early December, and decided to pop in for a little holiday cheer experience at the tried-and-true Burger Shed! Serious props goes to the hotel for their holiday decoration! Starting with some lights and inflatables outside, then a lovely hotel lobby (replete with Gingerbread building competition entries to vote on!), to the EXPLOSION of Christmas and holiday cheer set up in the Burger Shed restaurant, this place is ready for Santa! We were quoted a 45 minute wait, but were admitted inside within about 10! Although pleasantly surprised and happy to be allowed entry so much earlier than we thought, we nearly missed our opportunity, as the 45 minutes was a lot more than we were probably going to be able to afford. But, in the end, it worked out! We were sat at a hightop in the bar area, which was decked out floor-to-ceiling, side-to-side with decoration! The walls, the ceilings, the bar...everything! It was AMAZING!! We literally debated for 15 minutes at our table whether they hired someone to set it all up, and how long it would have taken to do so! Our party ordered mostly burgers, and one plate of wings. Everything was solid, as usual! We did partake in some of the special holiday shakes, and they were awesome! The place was popping (as you'd expect from the quoted wait to get in), but the wait staff was managing it all pretty well, especially as my main critique from prior visits would be the relatively slow service. The Christmas-themed popup bar "Blitzen's" at Burger Shed is a holiday explosion. If you have friends or family looking for a fun holiday jaunt, this spot will be a hit! The atmosphere was festive and rowdy, definitely a great time. The food was quite good. The Diablo burger gets extremely high marks (but be prepared... the heat is real). Burger Shed did a great job on the kid's meals... 3 for 3 with my kiddos on the burger, mac n cheese, and grilled cheese. This location was, however, understaffed Saturday night. The host team and management were working hard and were very kind, but there simply weren't enough servers or bartenders to keep up with the weekend dinner rush. It was quite a long wait for everything. But, if you go when things are lighter, the meal is unlikely to disappoint and the atmosphere is a Christmas 10 out of 10. read more

Came for the pop-up Christmas bar and wasn't disappointed at all. Was my first time here and would definitely come back. Is located in the lobby of a hotel but no problem with parking, would recommend maybe making a reservation just in case. Staff were super kind and service was pretty quick for how busy it was. The decor was amazing, just wish they'd show a Christmas movie on one tv. I loved all the seasonal drink options. The cheesesteak egg rolls were a table favorite. We ordered the shed (which towered in size and flavor), kids burgers and the burnt ends and fried pickle appetizers. Because we took our food back to our room, we didn't experience any of the staff other than the hostess - who was a delight! One of the best burger spots in the Kansas City Metro has be FOUND: at Burger Shed in Olathe. This restaurant may be tucket inside of a stunning hotel, but you do not need a reservation at the hotel to enjoy a great meal here. They have plenty of tables in the dining area that can fit parties of all sizes. They also have a beautiful bar with comfortable bar chairs. The burgers are an absolute HIT! We love ordering the burger with macaroni and cheese on top! We also really enjoy their pretzels with beer cheese dip. Their salads are always fresh and the cheeseburger soup is a MUST try. You can't end the meal without one of their fully loaded and mouthwatering shakes. Today, my husband and I tried out this restaurant because they had gluten-free buns and I have celiac. This restaurant is located inside a hotel. The restaurant decor is nice and it was almost empty. It was also clean and the hotel bathrooms were very clean. When we first walked up to the booth, that's outside of the restaurant entrance where you wait for a hostess, the bartender kind of rudely told us to take any seat. We were given our menus and a server came over immediately and took our order. He was friendly at our food, came out quickly, but he would just look at our dirty dishes and leave them on the table without picking them up. My husband ordered one of their burgers and tater tots. He said the burger itself and the toppings were very good and so was the tater tots. But they have a special sauce they put on the burger, and the bun was saturated and was falling apart at the bottom because of the sauce and possibly grease. I had their French dip on a gluten-free bun and coleslaw. The coleslaw was pretty good, but when I looked at my sandwich, I was thinking that ground beef was in it. It was the oddest looking French dip I had ever seen. The meat was kind of ground up, looking in small bits and it was rather bland. The Azu was good, but the gluten-free bun literally just fell apart. Some restaurants have buns that are gluten-free that stick together better but this particular restaurant the bun was just a mess. I don't think it was toasted which might have helped it to stay together a little bit more. read more

I came here on a Saturday night with some friends. They are located inside the embassy hotel. While they were very busy, the service was very attentive and they got us seated quickly. The service was very helpful at answering our questions since it was our first time in. We ordered a little bit of everything to get a taste and it all came out superb. The mojito was so refreshing. Our shakes came out and each one was good, but I really enjoyed the cereal milkshake. I want to try the birthday one next. We ordered fried Mac cheese, pork belly burnt ends as well. It prepped my appetite for the burgers. We ordered the shed burger and farmhouse burger. They both came loaded and they were cooked to perfection like we wanted. The shed burger is definitely for meat lovers and will fill you up! The farmhouse provided sweet and savory flavors w the bacon jam and that was a hit as well. Overall it was a great experience. I heard they will have a rooftop bar soon so I will definitely check that out too. read more

The food was pretty good. Pretty standard offerings but really good quality ingredients. The fries were stellar though. They were seasoned and I could eat them all day. I wasn't that impressed with the cheesesteak egg rolls but I think maybe I'm not the target audience. I love cheesesteak, that's why we ordered it but the friend wrappers felt really greasy and the meat just needed bread. I didn't care with the sauces on the side either. I think a cheese wiz like sauce would have been fun. The staff and the look of the restaurant were fantastic. I thought everyone we interacted with was super friendly and seemed to love their job. Best burger!! It was fun that it was all decorated Christmas themed. We stayed at the hotel and the restaurant stayed busy the whole time.

We ordered during happy hour - and were charged $7.00 for domestic taps and, did not receive the happy hour discount for appetizers as well. After reviewing our receipt, we called to speak with the manager and did not get the courtesy of a reply. While these strategies may work for travelers on expense accounts, as locals, we will not be returning. The food was passable but certainly not worth $$$ charged. Waited for 20-30mins before getting up to ask why no one had come to table to get our drink order or even acknolwdge. servers walked right by us. waited again before going to the bar to order our own drinks. then she had to come to table to check id which is fine. waited another for 30+min to get one of the drinks from the blitzes pop up menu. we had apps an food before the drinks all came out. they just cook all the burgers the same, so you don't get a preference on that. also no sweet potato fries on menu. would not go back. much better options around us. read more

We went on a Wednesday night, about 6 pm and the place was not crowded at all. First the good: --Ample parking --No wait --Stellar service! Very attentive! --Excellent food - large portions --Several TVs on to watch games or news Now the not so good: --The table seemed sticky but I didn't see any obvious food remnants --FILTHY "clipboard menu" with stained and dog eared pages, and the clipboard felt grimy. --Mediocre margaritas - no salt or sugar on glass --Only one dessert item on menu - not a big deal as this is essentially a bar and grill with limited offerings If I had seen a manager, I would have pointed out the nasty clipboard. On our way out, I glanced at other tables with the same issue. But didn't see anyone other than 2 servers and bartender, and no one came around checking on diners. If not for the cleanliness factor, this would be 5+ stars. Plastic coated menus can be wiped off, and I don't expect any eating establishment to be operating room clean. But an experienced and attentive manager should be aware of the germ factor! read more

After 1 bite I realized the mistake and our server took my whole meal & had the kitchen remake everything with the correct bun & fresh coleslaw. After seeing the GF bun I don't know how I couldn't have realized sooner. Or how the kitchen didn't know better. That aside, the meat was cooked well, the vegetables fresh, & the coleslaw tasty. Not a busy place on a Sunday afternoon by any means. Our waitress was friendly, and what she didn't know, she asked the chef--not a negative attribute, at least I got the answers to my questions. I had the grilled chicken avocado sandwich. I was going to ask for the chipotle aioli on the side in case it was too spicy--I forgot to do so, and it wasn't spicy. For the side, I asked for the coleslaw--it's an apple cabbage slaw--refreshing flavor and crunch to the "heaviness" of the sandwich. So good, I ordered a to-go of the slaw--not good even less than a day later--not worth the $3 extra either. I also ordered a new creation by the chef--Nutcracker Martini. As it happens, our waitress ended up making it--suffice it to say--nope. I liked all the ingredients as separate flavors, but it seemed a bit off, super strong and didn't come with the chocolate bonbon (Kinder Bueno) garnish. Also, there was crushed ice in it--didn't think that was standard. As it was new & not a line item, our waitress didn't know the price (she guessed $7). Maybe it needs coconut cream or something? Oh wow... this will be a hell of a review. Food - Ten stars out of five! You will be amazed by the deliciousness that can be in the burgers here. The kitchen is simply amazing! I can't say enough about the great burgers with all the toppings. I can't say I have ever had some of those combinations or would have thought of them by myself but they are fantastic! Also... Boozy shakes! Service - Oh wow... so we were sat in the section of a wait person that had just left for the day. When they finally got us someone else... it was very apparent that she didn't even want to be there. Our third server was super distracted and got our order wrong. They also had apparently NO capability to bring things like condiments or silverware. They did however get us the burgers appropriately. It was a this point that I deemed it necessary to send the Bartender off to get me the manager (who hadn't made an appearance) the whole time. They were of course shocked and dismayed by the service that we had received so far and decided to make up for it by giving us free desserts. This would have been a fantastic solution if they had also then talked with the wait staff... so no the sides were still wrong and not getting fixed... and there weren't any condiments to eat the fries/tots with anyway. And they did eventually come around to see which desserts we wanted. Of course we were charged for them and had to flag the manager down AGAIN just to get that fixed. Ambiance - well this is pretty awesome for a venue in a hotel. It looks and mostly feels like a restaurant. If you are in need for a good burger... and get the right server... this place is likely going to be amazing for you. I'm not the biggest fan of restaurants in hotels, I normally feel like they arnt meant for the community but Burger shed is one of 3 hotel restaurants that I like. I go out to lunch with a friend once in a while and she said their burgers were amazing. Burger shed felt like it was part of the hotel but also separate. Burgers here are freshly made and in my opinion the best burgers. Not greasy and full of flavor. One of those that you don't need A1 steak seasoning to give it any kind of flavor. Their sides / appetizers are a never fail (especially the tator tots). The service has been friendly and the food is always cooked to order, I've never had to send an item back, not even something I took home to eat.. The ambiance is intimate and a little dark, but perfect for this setting. read more

We went for dinner on a Saturday night. We walked to the host stand and were greeted with 'what can I do for you?' By an annoyed looking host. Dinner?! He said okay and asked how many people. There were only two of us. He asked if we wanted a high top or low top. Low top, he stated, 'I'll see if any of those are available' when 3/4 is the restaurant, probably more, was empty. Weird flex, but okay. We were seated and the server was immediately there and asked us for our drink order. The person I was with was prepared and ordered his beer. I was unsure and took a quick glance at the drink menu. No more than 30 seconds later, the server made it awkward and said she would just get us some waters. While I appreciate her promptness, her patience could have been a little longer. There were no other tables around. I did order a drink at that time, which was okay, but if I had like 15 seconds more to look at the drink menu, I would have ordered something else. We got our drinks. She dropped them off and walked away. Didn't even ask if we were ready to order food. We were. Waited another ten minutes to order. There was a table seated after us, that had a different server, that had already received their apps. Was a little jelly, cause hungry. She did come back and we ordered an app and burgers. The wings were good, but we didn't receive any ranch or bleu cheese to dip it in. We did have to ask for that. We also didn't have any app plates or extra napkins. I believe the manager gave us those and had the server bring the dipping sauces back. Appreciate that! The burgers. Well, they were okay. It was a sensory overload with so many tastes trying to cover up for the bland, Costco patty. Brioche bun, they are delicious, but also cheating. Tater tots...probs frozen from a bag, pretty sure the mac & cheese was made from a box. I was asked if I wanted another drink...I didn't , but my friend, his beer was empty. She didn't even look or ask. He tried to ask while she was there, but our server had already turned around left the table. He did get another beer, about 10 minutes later. During that time, it was noticed that half of our glasses were plastic and the other half was an actual glass. This came with a good laugh. I didn't know we needed differentiated glass for different beverage types. The food was pretty good. It's what I expect from a casual bar and grill but with the addition of in house smoked meats which makes a huge difference. A plethora of burger options, brisket and corned beef are on the menu. I chose the smoked turkey reuben as it was advertised as "award winning". It was award worthy. The turkey meat was lightly smoked, juicy and delicious. A perfect compliment to the slaw,arable rye bread and Swiss cheese. I loved every bite. I tried the brisket, delicious with a bit of a salty outer layer. Dining companions ordered the grilled chicken salad, bbq wings and brisket sandwich. All were devoured happily. I would definitely eat here again. I would love to see a location in a more lively location but the good food is enough. read more

When I heard that Burger Shed was owned by the same restaurant group that owned the Machine Shed restaurant I loved to visit before they went out of business, I was very excited to check them out. With "Shed" as part of the name, I expected to see farm implements on the walls and a down home country theme, a similar vibe as the old Machine Shed. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Burger Shed is located in the lobby of the Embassy Suites hotel and in my opinion the atmosphere is like a rather sterile and cold sports bar. The walls are non-descript and during my visit the large flat screens were all turned off. Why do you have the TVs if you aren't going to turn them on? The first thing I spotted on the menu was the "beer cheese fondue with fresh baked pretzels" on the starter menu. The pretzels were fresh baked alright, fresh baked after they pulled them from a box that could have been purchased from the supermarket freezer. I was also disappointed in the size of my iced tea glass. I felt bad for our server who was forced to return to our table over and over again to refill my glass simply because it didn't hold much. And the tea was too strong, similar to the iced tea that is served in the Northeastern US. The beef in the burgers is a combination of Angus ground beef and brisket and it was cooked perfectly, but a little on the smallish side, probably just a quarter pound. My tator tots were a slightly under cooked - another minute or so in the fryer would have improved their texture and made them much crisper. They tout their pork tenderloin as an award winner but it wasn't anything to get excited about - not particularly juicy or flavorful. Lots of restaurants seem to compete with each other to see who can make the largest port tenderloin, but I don't think Burger Shed is participating in this contest. There is a stairway in the restaurant that appears to lead to what I believe is a fun 2nd floor patio with outdoor seating, but this section must have been closed during our visit because they didn't offer to allow us to sit there. Nothing about our meal was particularly bad, it just didn't meet my expectations. The menu offers some unique combinations of burger ingredients and I've heard good things about their desserts so you may have a better experience than I did, but I double we'll return again. read more

I only had an apple pie shake and not a full meal. The ice cream was good but the pie chunks tasted waxy. I was disappointed by the waste factor- my shake arrived in a styrofoam cup (why? We were dining in, a bar glass would have been great), and that drinks are served with plastic straws, including water, without being asked first. They do have a paper straw option for the shakes so why not just ask the customer if they want paper before automatically bringing the single-use plastic? Our server was the best part, she was great. We will never eat here again. They were out of several beers. The sheddar cheese curds were frozen and then baked and weren't even hot when they got to us. My husband had a French dip which wasn't hot either with tasteless au jus and the coleslaw was covered in liquid mayonnaise. My southwest burger came out and wasn't hot or barely warm. The chipotle sauce was almost non-existent. The patties they use are frozen. The only good thing were the tater tots, but pretty hard to screw that up. Don't eat here. read more
