DeSoto is boomin', y'all. There is a lot happening, a ton of growth, and people need places to go. Why not go to a place that has seen the growth get planned and then get started? JT's Grill is smack in the middle of the legacy part of DeSoto and you can't miss it along the main road north of K-10. Regional, local, and other sports memorabilia lines the walls of the bar & dining room. There's is seating both inside & out (in good weather) and it's fairly spacious. The menu is essentially bar & grille fare with daily specials mixed in, and you can always get a solid meal & a drink for a reasonable price. Plus there is generally sportsball of some variety on the TVs, so stop in if for nothing more than to cheer on the home team. If you don't do one of their daily specials, then I would suggest the pork tenderloin, which is hand-breaded and pounded flat. The sandwich is huge and delicious, and it's one of the anchors of their menu. Burgers & more are all over the list of choices and all are a great option. Service is always friendly and generally hoppin' and when you mix good food with good people, then great things happen. Maybe it's not four stars on the Michelin scale, but for where you are and for what you might be after, JT's Grill gets it done with all the stars. read more

Food wasn't anything special, service was disappointing, and the atmosphere was depressing. I went with coworkers for lunch on Christmas Eve Eve so it was a little bit busy. We ordered fried mushrooms and they were of course tasty but extremely greasy. I ordered a raw KC strip which was decent and double side salad with bacon, I kept it pretty simple. They forgot one coworkers fries and another person's chili. To add this mess, there was a customer who was touching himself and farting very loudly. I'll probably come again since there are few place in De Soto to eat but I won't have high hopes. read more

Went here for a late night dinner and it was delicious. I have never been to a place that offered gravy as a side for chicken strips, but now I am obsessed. Their chili was also very good. Delicious biscuits and gravy! I really like how it came with a side of either bacon or sausage. I chose the sausage so that I could add more sausage to my biscuits and gravy, but I decided to taste a piece of the sausage, and it was so good and because the biscuit and gravy had a nice amount of sausage already, I mostly ate the sausage patty by itself. We stopped in at 9:45 on May 25th. We sat at the bar to have one drink. As soon as we sat, the bartender indicated the kitchen was closed. We told him that was fine as we were only having one drink. He then proceeded to say "frankly we're about to close". As my photo shows the hours for Fridays are 11 am to 2 am. I completely understand bars close early if the place is dead. I ordered onion rings which were thrown in the same container with a pickle. So everything wad soggy and tasted like pickle. The beef tasted off . Great friendly staff and fast service My husband ordered a cob salad that arrived with plenty leafy greens, Turkey, blue cheese, and fresh ingredients to cover the plate I ordered the BLT sandwich and splurged for tater tots that were hot and crunchy. The BLT was toasted to perfection, with fresh greens and plenty of bacon from a cook that obviously refused to be stingy. We followed it with two ice cold teas! We're here overnight and had a look online for local eats. Lots of fast food around, but had enough of that on the journey and most places are 10-15 min away. So we see JTs and figured we'd give it a go. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the place looked, modern and welcoming. Staff greeted us right away, seated us and had the waitress to take our order without a minute passing. Now they weren't busy at the time, but seemed like they could handle a busy night. We out in our order right away and the food arrived within about 8 minutes, hot and nicely presented. Waitress remained attentive the whole time and the food was quite good and affordable. We had the Cowboy burgers and enjoyed them cooked a perfect medium rare. We also ordered the onion rings and they weren't worth it. Greasy, soggy and average, but the standard fries were nicely done. Stopped for lunch, meatloaf was the special. Without going into detail, I have a rule, never order meat loaf in the wild, never. But, at JTs, about 11am, meat loaf on special, I engaged the waitress. Asked her if the meat loaf had been prepared that morning, she assured me that it had. I shared with her my rule. Nothing worse than 4 day old, reheated , cafe meat loaf. On her recommendation, we ordered the meat loaf. It was excellent, moist, full of flavor, even some crunch, fantastic. Would definitely order again. Cute little local place. Hubby really liked his burger and the fries were so good. I had the spicy chicken sandwich but asked for it as a wrap. It was ok but a little lacking in actual chicken and I found and dug out (thankfully before accidentally eating) 8 huge fat slices of fresh jalepeno with seeds! Those would have been insanely hot and not at all good. Ordered the onion rings to go with it and they weren't great, would def get the fries next time. I sat at the bar during the lunch rush. The service was good. The bartender was working her bum off. The beer was super cold (thank you!) the mushroom Swiss burger was pretty good but I needed to add a little salt. The fries were some of the best. I work in the area and there isn't much to choose from by way of wraps and soup or salads. My first visit was a taco Tuesday a couple years ago. I was not impressed with the flavor or the sauce. My 2nd taco had a hair and I couldn't eat any more. I tried again last year near Christmas and ordered a to-go "Rachel" which is a Turkey version of a Reuben. After spending $12 on the sandwich and green beans, I get to work and it was a corned beef sandwich. I double checked my online order to make sure I selected Turkey and I did. I called and they asked if I wanted to bring back. I declined since I had already left work once and had already used up my lunch period. I tried again today for lunch because I was craving a wrap. I ordered online again. Selecting a spicy chicken wrap with grilled chicken and a side of fries. Again, once back to work I find that my wrap after a few bites in, has crispy chicken (which is not horrible, though not what I ordered) and then pickles on it. Waitress asked to take it back but I told her no I don't want to be wasteful I will just eat it but it's not good. Wife's grilled chicken sandwich was tougher than woodpecker lips and cold just like the onion rings.the waitress was more interested in talking to a group of people she knew so was a bad dinner. Definitely the place to go, this place has been family owned and has been here ever since I was a little kid, JTs was always part of the family tradition. This was a great stop for lunch! Love the local sports bar atmosphere with tributes to the Big 12 and local sports teams! Plenty of viewing ability to watch basketball! The food was really good. Kids meals were good portions. The anchors were tasty, good blend of crispy tortilla chips and cheese sauce, the wings were great with tasty dipping sauces! We love JT's! Since we've moved to DeSoto, we've had dinner and breakfast several times. The food is good to excellent and the service has always been excellent for us. It's clean, simple food, and well executed. Our favorites are the wings and Chicken Kickers (hand breaded chicken strips), with their mango habanero or buffalo sauce. Their Cobb Salad is phenomenal and their fries are good as well. We've also had the burgers which are decent. For breakfast, the cinnamon roll in a mini skillet is a must, but order early because they bake as they're ordered. I love the skillets and my husband likes the biscuits and gravy. Wanted takeout but husband ordered a beer so we went in. The burgers and fries are the best - easily a 5. This was our first restaurant meal since quarantine. Absolutely no one wore a mask. Wait staff came right up to the table and talked over us - less than 2 feet from us. No social distancing. I have been coming to JT's since it opened. Was an occasional drop in place till about a year ago when the service and the food went downhill! Recently I received coupons in the neighborhood Valu Pak for free potato skins and/or buy one get one half off. After fighting the traffic to get out of the city, the last thing I want to do is fight the traffic to get back into the city for a Friday evening meal. My dining companion suggested we use the coupons and go westward to De Soto and try JT's again. I reluctantly agreed. After all how can you go wrong with potato skins? It can double as a meal if the entree was a disappointment. I'm glad to say the place has redeemed itself during my hiatus from dining there. The potato skins were very good.....and free! (with the coupon of course...gotta love those coupons) I ordered the chicken tender dinner, but didn't want french fries with the fried potatoes already on the table. I asked the waitress for options. She told me that the potato salad was unique and that I should try that. It was a warm cheesy type dish. After assuring me that it was not German potato salad (not a fan of that), I chose to take her advice. That's when the pleasant surprises began....the salad was fresh and crisp, with croutons, and as Marie F would agree, heavenly slices of bacon on top////real strips of crumbled pork!, not the fake kind. The chicken was real pieces of breast meat, that tasted like they were fresh breaded, not the frozen poor excuse for chicken that I had there a year ago. and the suggested potato salad was excellent. Warm with cheese sauce, onions and gentle spices that was a delight for something different and not so heavy as the fried variety of spuds. Our waitress was Patty , a pleasant and helpful woman that let us want for nothing. Decor is as others have described, typical sports bar with large TVs throughout. Noise level is minimal so you can have dinner conversation without yelling. Glad to have you back on my list to visit again! Nice little bar and grill. They have several big screens and a large overhead projector to catch the games. The food is typical bar food and its done well. We had salads, nachos, onion rings and chicken fried steak. Everything was good, especially the onion rings and chicken fried steak. My only complaint is the chicken fried steak was served on a bed of garnish. Word to the management, this is a bar and grill and you are serving me chicken fried steak with gravy - leave off the silly garnish. It only makes a mess. read more
