Normally, I just do a classic burger, but was convinced on the menu and recommended by one of the ladies to try the Farmer's burger. It was HUGE and tasty! Fries were amazing! Recently visited here with a friend for happy hour and we left two full and happy ladies! Austin's is a popular spot for people we know, and it was a no brainer when picking a spot to sit on the patio! For a Friday, it was the perfect level of noise volume being outside to chat, sip, and enjoy! We ordered the chicken quesadilla and fried pickles off the happy hour food menu, and then when we finished that I ordered a side of mashed potatoes and my friend ordered a side of Mac n cheese just for an extra indulgence. I think I would literally pass out, if they got our order correct. We have probably ordered take-out 8-9 times in the past several months, and not ONCE have they gotten the order right! Examples, last time they forgot the quest blanco dip, nothing there. We caught it and they gave it to us, got home and NO CHIPS. They have forgotten the meat for a taco salad, the shell for the taco salad....so many key things, we have to drive back! Went for a special event so this wasn't a typical easy Tuesday night for our 2 servers but they did a wonderful job. One of them was always nearby so we were well taken care of. For the event they had: Queso Blanco Dip, a bit spicy for me but didn't stop me from eating it. Chicken Bites, over cooked and a bit bland. And Potato Skins, plenty of toppings with good flavor. Took advantage of the tacos for $2.50 and got 2 beef tacos to-go. Just the right amount of spice & toppings. Reheated one the next day in the oven and it was still good. read more

I have been a customer for over 25 years and lately service and sense of urgency for those who do carry out has been horrendous. However, today they lost my business for good. I ordered a pick up order trough Door Dash before 6 PM and got to Austin's at 6:17 waited 10 min in my car then went inside and saw a man walk out with my order. They apologized and said they would make it right away. This was at 6:27pm then I waited and watched 3 more orders go out the door. The one at 6:50 pm was ordered at 6:30. I asked again where is my order she went to check and told me sorry it will be another 10 min. So I told her to cancel it walked out. There was no attempt to make things better she just said ok I will cancel it. Waiting over 45 min for 3 burgers with a lame apology and offering to do nothing to make it right is inexcusable. The order was not cancelled so I had to dispute it with Door Dash to get it cancelled and refunded. This isn't the first order they have screwed up but when you make a mistake then you should offer to make things right. We will now travel to Gardner or the other Olathe location if we ever decide to eat at Austin's again. read more

So disappointed tonight. I was with my four grandchildren and we ordered and according to the receipt, the order was entered at 6pm to the tune of $83. So, we probably ordered five minutes at least before that. We ordered things that are their standard fare, chicken tenders, wings, a burger and fried pickles. By 6:53, we had only received our appetizers. People that came in after us were eating their food. The server apologized and said the standard, the kitchen is so busy. But that's ridiculous! When people around us are served before we are and they came in after us and we only ordered their standard fair on their menu, it's ridiculous that we cannot be served until we're ready to walk out 55 minutes later. Unfortunately our experience tonight was the nail in the coffin. Food was and has been subpar for the last several visits. Too expensive for the quality (sirloin was chewy and flavorless; soup was more of a dip; sides felt out of a bag) and a very slow kitchen. I have been 3 times, and every experience has gone something like this: Eating a steak so tough and overcooked that you have to chew it for at least 5 minutes, (which made sense because it took forever to come out), then chicken tortilla "soup" which came out looking like a paste. We had been there for maybe 20 minutes and were told we'd have to leave soon, as they had reservations for 35 and another for 15. Ok, so we asked if they had umbrellas for the outlying area. Usually it's a great place to hang out and relax. However, last night was different. its Important to note that service was still fantastic and the barmaid was on point. What happened is this - a gentleman was at the bar in really bad shape where he was incoherent about to fall out of his seat. One gentleman even had to stand behind him to make sure he didn't fall and hit his head. It seems as though he may have had multiple substances in his system. He was in bad enough shape that the EMT's had to be called. It was really scary and sad because he may be a father, brother, husband, and obviously a son. What was sickening about this experience was the table of individuals who work there but were off the clock. They were laughing and taking Snapchat videos. This man could have been dying while these off-the-clock employees were all laughing and taking videos. Just disgusting. Now I'm questioning the moral and ethics of this Austin's team other than that of the barmaid. She handled the situation immaculately. read more

Austin's wasn't bad. They have good deals - half priced burgers on Mondays with the purchase of a drink is a good reason to go back. I got the vegetarian option - a black bean burger that most burger places usually have. I asked for onion strings in the burger to add a little crisp, since I feel like black bean burgers usually all have the same smushy texture. The burger was a solid meal overall; I can tell they tried to really add flavor since it came with avocado and tortilla strips inside. The burger also comes with a side, and my side of tator tots was fine - no special seasoning or anything, but not a bad option! Our server was kind of scattered; it did not seem too busy, but she seemed to forget our orders or forget if we asked for something. We were a group of 8 people, so I understand if it was a little confusing; I think it would have helped if she had written down what we wanted instead of trying to remember it all! For the full price of the burger, I feel like I, as a pescatarian in a landlocked state, would rather try other places. The competition in the American bar food is a tough one. Austin's has some quality offerings to be in the top. We stopped here prior to leaving for the weekend. Quite a variety on the menu to choose from. I have heard rumors of them having a good burger. Between the two of us we decided to divide and conquer. He got the Tumbleweed burger, medium and I got the Friday lunch special of 4 tenders and fries for $10 (savings of a dollar) w/ garlic aioli as a sauce. I ordered the Friday margarita special but didn't get it til our food arrived. The burger with tots was the star, fresh, hot and cooked perfectly. It could have had a little more tumbleweed sauce and may request a side of it next time. The tenders were very hot and definitely quality chicken tenders. Nice crispy coating but too bland and definitely need sauce. Debated on giving 5 stars but the forgetfulness of my marg and the bland chicken strips were the culprits. Not very good especially when you have several open tables and all the other couples that arrive behind us asked the same question, "there are plenty of open tables?" We are new to the area and have heard so many people talking about Austin's! We finallllly tried it out after a year and I was super impressed! They have a fantastic happy hour that we were able to make until 6 pm. We got the fried pickles for $2 and the steak street tacos (2) for $4 and both were VERY good and came out super quick. The pickles were probably the best I've had...and that's saying a lot! Hubby and I split their Thursday special which was a $12 6 Oz sirloin with loaded mashed potatoes and a salad (came with toast) The salad and steak were absolutely delicious - not sure I would order the loaded mashed potatoes again....they were super greasy and oily and soupy but maybe it was just an off day for those. Our server was super nice and friendly with great recommendations and definitely on top of service! We will definitely be back!! read more

Like their Chicken Fried Steak also.. Typical bar sometimes a bit loud for dinner but it is a bar. Prices are too high except on the specials. Servers are typically good --- BUT there is no quality control on getting food out HOT. Who really likes a cold dinner??? Server is not the one to bring food out so he/she does not know IF it is hot. Oh boy where do I start?.... Group of 8 of us. We understand it's hard out there now but the man it was horrible. We order our meals and 2 entries (happy hour prices). 1 meal was paraded around the room for over 5 min and it was one of ours. The food was cold when they got it. Still no appetizers. Then 10 min later 4 more people's food came out. Half of it was cold. The chicken fried steak was hard as a rock. The mini cheeseburgers were overcooked and hard. The kids pizza and fries were ok. Still no appetizers. At this point we're waiting for 2 adults and one child's food to come out but we start eating so it doesn't get more cold. Still no appetizers. 15 fricken minutes go by before one adult gets her food. She got the special of the night ( $2 tacos) so you would think they would have been first out. The one remaining kid is now angry cause he still doesn't have food. He's picking up fries from everyone. 10 min later the kids come out. He's now full on fries and won't eat. Still no appetizers. We tell them to cancel them. Then still waiting on last adults food (also the daily special tacos). Her's finally comes and she scarfs it down cause we're all waiting to go. One of the 2 appetizers comes out. We said we didn't want it anymore. We ask for the bill and they tell us 3 meals and the appetizers will come off because it took so long. Ok fair enough. I then leave with the kids cause they are beyond ready to go. I'm sitting now at home for 15 min and get a text they still don't have the bill.... 5 min later. They got the bill but won't take off one of the meals that took an extra 20 min to get. 10 min later. They pay and leave and get home. Get your crap together Austin's. I used to recommend everyone go there. Now it will be avoided like the plague. Speaking of plague, no workers had masks that I could see. It's not required here anymore but most restaurants here still wear them. Hell even in the local McDonald's workers wear them. read more

1st time here and we were pleasantly surprised. Neat bar/restaurant with a great menu. We went in for a couple beers and apps. We tried the buffalo chicken tenders and they were awesome. Great tender with a delicious sauce and "REAL" ranch dressing for dipping. We also shared the queso nachos which were very good and a lot of queso. Waitress Quinci was very nice and very efficient. There is a serious management problem at this location. We've had numerous problems with food preparation and poor service with little accountability. During Covid19 mask and social distancing mandates, we stopped eating in this restaurant because management was not enforcing employees to properly socially distance. They were also seating customers within the six-foot radius and allowing customers to tightly congregate around the bar area. More recently, we have had issues with food preparation. When I have complained to management, the lack of attempt to get the order right or show the least amount of concern is flabbergasting. Instead, we've had management attempt to gaslight us, making it seem like the problems with the orders were in are heads. Issues have included overcooking fajitas that were ordered medium rare (was told they didn't look medium rare due to marinade, but I obviously know the difference between overcooked and a marinade dulling the appearance of the meat), failing to properly drain marinade from the fajitas prior to preparing them (leaving them swimming in a vinegary liquid and was told that was normal by management; it isn't) which made them uneatable, leaving certain vegetables that come with dishes completely off of the plate (e.g. no fajita onions or peppers), ordering items gluten-free only to have the kitchen disregard the allergy (e.g. gravy on potatoes, bread served with order, etc), and messing up drink orders. The last time we ate here, they made my order incorrect twice. My spouse was finished eating while I was still waiting for my order. I told the male manager on duty to forget making it a second time. So, I left without eating. He obviously should have made some attempt to reconcile the problem, even if it included removing my beverage from the order. Instead, he only removed the item that never came out right. And, I had to ask him to remove my order that never came out right from the check. . . I wrote a note on the signed receipt for Liz (the general manager), and I came home and e-mailed her as well as the owner (Brandon). I never received an e-mail back from Brandon, and I only received one back from Liz days later. She asked me to call her back, I tried and left a message. To date, I haven't heard from her. I'm also appalled to read the reviews from (what it looks like) prior female employees. After our experiences and reading these reviews, I sincerely doubt we'll eat at Austin's in the future. read more
