I did come back to Adrian's and the service was extremely commendable. I was having a bad day and really needed something to pick me up. I figured I would go and get lunch here considering I really loved my lunch the other day. It really does feel like a cafe inside of Adrian's and with it being like 45 degree randomly today, it was so comfortable, cozy, and felt very neighborhood oriented. While I had been disappointed at first by the service on the phone, I recognize that they had someone training and it's hard to balance all of the orders they get! The owner actually called me back when I hung up after being on hold for a sec, which is absolutely going the extra mile. I was already on my way and going to place that order but gosh he was so awesome! Rare anymore these days that anyone lets you try anything before you get to buy it and the owner let me try their chicken salad (since I was skeptical) and they had run out of chicken breast for the day. I really try to stick to mainly eating chicken, but the owner convinced me to try some of their bacon on top of it and it is one of the best sandwiches I can say I've had. Great spot for amazing soup and sandwiches. The bread is amazing it's thick and moist. Generous helping of meat and toppings. It's guaranteed to be a two hander! The dessert variety is impressive. Lemon have the perfect pucker and sweet balance with a firm creamy texture and buttery crust. The carrot cake doesn't disappoint, moist and light with good flavor. All the cookies have been good. The man who I believe to be the owner solicited me for sex upon walking in. I IMMEDIATELY walked out. Upon entering the restaurant, the man behind the counter said, "Hey, Come here." I looked at him kind of puzzled and said, "What?" and he repeated it, "Come here." So, I walked towards him and said, "Is there something wrong?" He said, "How much?" and I said, "How much for what?" He was half sitting on a table behind the counter, with his hands kind of resting near his crotch, tugging at his pants and he pointed at his crotch and said, "HOW MUCH?" at which point I threw my hands up and said, "I'm OUT!" and I turned around and left. I first had Adrian's Cafe when they catered the KC Air Show in 2022. When they returned last year, I was delighted! We finally made it out to the restaurant today. It was absolutely wonderful! The feel is oddly cafeteria vibe but the food is so good. Had a half a club sandwich with a salad, the salad was just ok so next time I'd probably skip it. Delicious chicken noodle soup! You can taste the freshness of the food, especially the bread. The carrot cake was also quite tasty. The outer corporate bank building threw me off but I saw the location name on the outer corner and walked in through the lobby. The smoked turkey sandwich I had was amazing. Bread perfect. Great serving of turkey. They make it right in front of you. This was my first time getting a sandwich in Kansas that reminded me of the deli sandwich goodness I used to get in NYC and Jersey. My husband and I were in there yesterday for lunch and the minute we walked in Guy (the owner) said, "Hi, how are you? You two look great". We said thanks, so do you as he had lost some weight from the last time, we saw him. My husband did some work for Guy at the restaurant several years ago, so he knows both of us when we visit for lunch. Nothing out of the ordinary for him to be friendly and acknowledge when we come in.....until it got out of hand. He proceeded to come around the counter and shake my husband's hand and then gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and at the same time grabbed my butt. We don't know him on this kind of level, so this was really awkward. He asked if we were married meanwhile grabbing my hand to see if I had a wedding ring on. We told him yes. As he proceeded back around the counter, he kept saying I don't think you are married. Do you have your marriage license, driver's license, or anything showing me you are married. Meanwhile one of the workers who has worked there for several years was trying to fix our sandwiches. Guy said don't charge them, it's on me. The worker said OK and I proceeded to tell him what I wanted. Guy grabbed the workers hand and said no, I got it. The worker left and stood in the doorway to the kitchen watching it all unfold. Guy comes back around the counter and proceeds to get close to me brushing up against me touching my boobs (trying to be discreet) meanwhile telling my husband how he overcharged on the work he performed years ago....that he was so happy about at the time and all the other times we have come into his restaurant raving about his work. Still like this place and the owner. Located in the bank corner makes it a challenge to find, but worth the search. Great sandwich and even better soup. The fact they still bake the bread and cut it right in front of you makes this place awesome. The desserts are special too. If you want fancy then keep looking. Customer Service is hit and a LOT more miss these days. And good food doesn't make up for bad experiences. During COVID, the Core First bank building was a ghost town. Adrian's Cafe was hanging on by a thread to keep their doors open (Owner's words). They were bending over backwards with customer service. We always placed to-go orders. THEY even told us, "Just call in your order; and we'll have it all ready when you get here." Now that COVID is over and the building is back to being fully staffed, Adrian's is doing really well again. So well, they won't take our call-in orders to-go anymore. "It'd be easier if you just came and stood in line. Otherwise it will be at least an hour before we could make your to-go order." This place looks like a corporate cafeteria in a bank building, but don't be fooled by the outside. I almost left, but I'm glad I didn't, because it was one of the best turkey clubs I've EVER HAD. I was so excited to learn that there was an Adrian's location near Lenexa. I've been getting sandwiches from the OP location for about 7 years but it's pretty far from work and home. I have tried the Lenexa location twice now and I don't think I'll be back. Both times I arrived later in the afternoon, (1:45-2:00ish) and both times I was the only customer in the place, but nonetheless I was ignored by the employees when I both walked in the door, and when I went to the counter to order. Before my order was taken the people behind the counter finished their own conversations, and side work before even saying hello while I stood there watching them uncomfortably. The first time I went, I got my sandwich to go. I saw some desserts sitting out behind a glass partition. They looked wonderful, but had two flies circling them, so I didn't order any. The sandwich was good. The fresh baked bread was awesome. The second time I tried this location, after being ignored at the door and the counter again.....I decided to eat my sandwich there. Once I got my food, I searched for a clean table and could not find one. Literally every table in the place was dirty, and the employees were seemingly just standing around. To go along with the dirty tables, there were gnats EVERYWHERE. Little tiny bugs were flying all over the restaurant. Several even landed on my food. I ate as I swatted bugs away, but eventually got too grossed out to eat, so I left. As I walked out, no one said "thank you" or acknowledged my presence. I glanced to the desserts, and again, flies swarmed above them. I will not be back. It's a shame. The food here is so good, but the employees need to put the customers, and the cleanliness of the restaurant first. read more

Finding Adrian's might be a little difficult, if you don't know it is there. Luckily, Brian A. tipped me off and we had lunch at this little cafe attached to a bank. Half Beef and Cheddar on wheat and Cheddar Cheese Soup. The bread was sliced per order and though it was thick, it was soft and manageable. I didn't feel like a dog gnawing on a biscuit. The soup was plenty tasty. They had a French dip special and three soups to choose from. The employees were really nice and offered us a sample of the soup before we made our decision. The soup could have been substitute for a huge salad, if one should desire such a thing. A simple lunch, but the food was fresh and delicious and the people were courteous and efficient. Avoid this place. I was judged and treated pretty poorly upon entry and at first sight by the GM(I think). I never even got a chance to order anything! He told me NO and stormed off grumbling something under his breath before I even had a chance to even introduce myself. I'm standing there confused but I called him back and told him bc of his attitude towards me I'm never coming back. He said "good". So, I am left with limited options as to why he treated me like that after only looking at me for a few seconds. Maybe he just didn't like my appearance (hair, skin, face idk!!) This has caught me off guard as I wasn't not prepared to begin my week like this... then it hit me once I realized where I was located... Johnson County Kansas. In the last 10+ years of my life, I have only experienced stuff like this in the united state of "entitlement and privilege"... most typically in JC. I went to the restroom out the lobby of the bank building where the restaurant is set up and one of the employees that witnessed the event entered the restroom as I was exiting and I asked him, "what's wrong with your boy?" He assumed that his boss thought that I was someone else... which confirms my suspicion of him making an assessment based on my appearance. Sadly, I am all too familiar with this as I am aware that I have been dealing with it for over 35 years, though this is a new All-time low for me. This experience felt along side of the stories that I've heard from before the civil rights movement. If he was going to disrespectfully turn me away at the door, he should have had a sign outside of his establishment that reads, "_____s Only Establishment" or "No _____s Allowed".
