Most of the time you look around a restaurant and see all of the cobwebs - well there were none to be found- impressed. The younger wait staff were very polite and timely - impressed. Me and my mom and grandma went to go eat, we sat down and the waitress was really nice and said our meal would be out shortly. Little did we know that shortly actually meant 40 minutes. We sat there for 40 minutes straight and not once did our waitress apologize for the wait or ask how we were doing. We saw our waitress 3 times through our whole experience there, first to get our order, then after we got our food to ask how it was and then lastly for the check. She was more worried about her other customers, like this couple who got there 30 minutes after us and got their food not even 5 minutes after we did, they even got the check and left before we did. I have never had such bad service at a restaurant, and when we finally got our food, my chicken was not cooked and our food was cold. I will never be coming here again. read more

I wish there was a way to give zero stars, because that would be my selection for Cheddar's. I've heard of getting things wrong on a meal here and there, but 3 of the 4 people in my family of four had something wrong with our meals. I ordered the nachos, and the chips came out burnt. My dad ordered red beans and rice, and they had absolutely no flavor, and one of the other meals wasn't cooked properly. A nice waiting staff can't compensate for an incompetent cooking staff. If you enjoy a nice, casual American dining experience stick with Chili's, Friday's, Buffalo Wild Wings, or Applebee's. If you enjoy paying for messed up orders and poor food quality, this is the place for you! read more

The service was good, our waiter was a young girl and though she looked a bit sloppy she was very pleasant and accommodating to the baby we had in our party. The food was yummy; I had the grown up grilled cheese and my boyfriend had the club. We split out meals together and I thought both sandwiches were a little to greasy but they were still edible and good. The other two with us both had the Monte Christo and it looked good. Kids meal came out wrong, saw a man with a young child drop something and two servers just walk by and not help him. Our server was never around. No refills were offered, we asked and only got one after 10 minutes waiting. The manager came and made no apologies, just excuses about how busy they were. They were not near capacity. I had the worst experience I have had in recent memory. My wife and I came in and were taken to a booth right away, as we walked through the restaurant we saw dirty floors littered with food and used napkins. The booth they led us to had food on the bench, I wiped it off with my hand before sitting down, the hostess said sorry about that. As people finished their meals and left the restaurant the bus girl would wipe the table off wiping the debris onto the seats and floor and leaving it. We ordered our meals and mine was brought before the drinks, my wife's food was not brought out until I was halfway done eating after the waitress walked by and said "you still haven't gotten your food?" At one point a corner booth was bussed and thick liquid that looked like gravy was spilled from the table to the kitchen. It was left uncleaned for at least 20 minutes, finally after an elderly lady stepped in it and almost slipped, I had had enough. I got up went to the front and got the manager who apologized and got a mop bucket to clean it himself. My wife did not eat her food because it was served cold, but more than anything had lost her appetite because of the condition of the restaurant. I may never eat at another Cheddar's ever again. My family and I love this place! It's casual, the food is yummy and it's not too pricey! I always get the chicken strips and grilled shrimp but their Brocolli rice casserole is to die for! I have had some bad waiters in the past but Management ALWAYS took care of things for us if if needed. If you want a great place to have lunch, a casual dining experience or if you just want to hang out at the bar, this is the place to go. I'd say in the last 2 months we've been here at least 4 times and it hasn't been memorable or worth the 4.1 mile drive from house. The last time my food was served cold and then brought back to me cold....cold fries is never okay. We went and the kitchen is out of common ingredients to complete a meal on the menu....it's Monday (3/12/18) and the week here has already started bad for 'em. The worst experience ever at a Cheddar's happened tonight. I was served a bloody chicken fried steak. Which made me sick, literally sick. The manager offered to make me another one, no thank you. My stomach is still upset. The waitress then had an attitude, when I started talking to her in the same tone she was using with me and it "upset" her. The manager was not very nice either. Had issues with the food preparation 2-3 years ago and at the same time I had issues with the server not taking care of the food issues and being rude. Tonight we decided to give it a try again... bad choice. The food was prepared right this time however we never got the bbq sauce that was requested for my daughters chicken tenders when we ordered. We also were missing our salads which were supposed to be out before our meals. I had finished my steak and loaded baked potato and still had not received my salad,bbq sauce nor had anyone stopped by to check on us. After waiting for at least 10 mins and not being able to flag a waiter or waitress down I finally got a waitress to check on our missing items. We finally received our salads 30 minuets after we ordered them and my daughter finally got her bbq sauce for her now cold chicken. This restaurant needs some new training for their servers. Cheddar' needs to figure out what has happened to their quality and customer service. Or maybe they don't care. On Mother's day they were out of the fudge cake, now on Fathers Day they were out of Onion Rings, Fudge cake. I ordered the Potatoes Skins for my meal and when I finally got them, my husband had finished his meal. And they tasted bad. The floors were littered and not sure why. This is not the standard Cheddars had when they first began in Lubbock. The quality of food the last three times we have been there is nothing like it used to be. This is not fair to your servers, but they are the ones having to tell your customers you don't have the food that is on the menu, which the management should know how to prepare for the increase in customers on special days. My name is David and I graduated from Tahoka HS back in 2007. I have served in the United States Navy since and I am currently active duty. I always make it a point to go out to dinner with my grandparents at favorite restaurant, 'Cheddars'. Today was a very interesting experience. I had asked the waiter for the check and upon bringing it to me, I asked him if they offered military discount. He replied back no and I said that was fine. He then proceeded to tell me that he wished Cheddars did because he himself served four years in the navy. Being that I'm active duty I was curious to know what job(rate) he had in the navy, he told told me he was a private and then walked away. I was immediately confused and so was my grandfather(a 20 year veteran), because a private is a rank not a rate and it's also not a rank associated with the navy. So when he came back to the table he told me he was a cook on the ship. I asked him what ship... he immediately told me he was sorry and that he was lying the whole time because he felt if he could associate himself with the military, that we might tip him better. I have never, in the 8 years that I've served in the military been in situation like this. To have someone lie about being or have served in the armed forces while there are men and woman across the world literally lying their bodies down for this great country, I was ashamed to have gone to this restaurant today... embarrassed even... I will never go back to this restaurant again. read more

Ate lunch here today. First time visit and probably last as well. Service was average at best. Ordered coffee and was told they would have to brew it..... can't believe it wasn't already ready for lunch. Started out with queso and chips. The spicy beef in the queso was some of the best I have ever eaten. However the chips that came out with it were just that chips, or should I say small pieces of chips. I had to ask the server for some actual chips in order to enjoy the good queso. I order the Trio Treats Sampler. It was supposed to have loaded potato skins, cheese bites and chicken strips on it. After a short wait I was informed that they were out of cheese bites and asked it they could substitute something else. Just asked for more strips and skins. Finally came out. It looked really good but like they say looks are deceiving. The potato skins were actually burnt. Crispy is nice but crispy and crunchy is over the top. The strips were way to heavy in regard to the breading. The chicken itself was tasty but way way too much batter used for the breading. I rarely ever leave food anywhere but I left with more than half of this meal still on my plate. My server never once asked if I liked my meal or had any concerns. First time vist and not seeing a return visit anytime in the near future. read more

There's only a couple things on the menu I always feel safe getting, can't go wrong with the buffalo chicken wrap, chicken caesar pasta salad or the monte cristo. First off, I love Cheddars, they are one of my favorite chains. But was rather disappointed tonight! First I was seated and left at a dirty table. After 10 minutes went by my waiter finally showed up. Pointed out the dirty table and gave my drink order....... Well another 10 minutes went by before he showed up with my tea, but no rag. Had to ask another waiter was my server new, to that he just rolled his eyes and shook his head. Finally ordered my onion rings, which are always fabulous, and they were right on par this time! Wanting to go out of the box on my dinner this time I went with the "baked spasagna" which looked like a lump of spaghetti stuck together with a red sauce dumped over half of it, and most on the plate. Well it was OK at best, till I got half way through and found a hunk of plastic sheeting in it??? The super nice manager Mike comped that part of the meal for me, which made things better.
