This is a favorite lunch spot of my parents. They rave and rave about the quality and price. I came with my parents for an early dinner and were seated in the bar. The bartender was quite busy with serving the bar, making drinks for the restaurant, and with bar dining. He was very friendly, albeit, in a rush, and very accommodating when my mom sent one of her favorite meals here back. She was so excited to order the Chicken Pot Pie, but she took one bite and said it was "off." The server and manager did make every effort to make it right, but I just shared my food with her, because it was so much food. I had the Chicken Tenders with mashed potatoes and green beans. The tenders were breaded and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were good, but the green beans had some sweetness added to them that I wasn't a fan of. (The bacon grease in the green beans was a lovely touch, though.) The bread that they serve is divine! It looks like a croissant, but has a dinner roll taste and consistency, with the most incredible whipped and flavored butter drizzled over. The salads that my parents added looked really great to me, and they couldn't finish and have room for the entrees. My dad loves to order the Fish and Shrimp Platter and this time, according to him, the portion was considerably smaller than usual of the Fish, but the taste was still on par. Fresh, crispy, and just right! As we were leaving the rush was beginning and there were quite a few people waiting to be seated and the restaurant was full. I haven't been to this location in maybe 10 years and I was wary of even coming in today due to the reviews on Yelp, but I'm pretty glad we ignored them. The host was very friendly when we arrived, the waitress was super attentive and polite. As busy as the place was we still received excellent service all around. As for the food, I was underwhelmed with the country fried steak. Something is off in the batter but the meat was as tender as could be. I don't know if there's sugar in the batter but the sweetness was not very appetizing. The steamed broccoli was delicious though. My son said "the burger isn't much to look at but it's one of the best". Wife and daughter loved their meals and I ate some of their chicken tenders. Very very good. So minus my unpleasant chicken fried steak thing, our first visit in quite a while was good. I think I'll try a burger next time I come in. And we will be back. Asked for a steak medium rare. they brought us this we asked them to take it back and cook it a little more then the manager came and started arguing with us about what medium rare is. He was very rude and disrespectful and he still charged us full price for the meal even though we did not eat the raw steak. The other food was cold. it was not good. The meatloaf they serve is absolutely disgusting not sure it was even beef the texture was more like canned dog food. Chicken fried steak is more batter than meat. Her friend ordered shrimp ,my wife ordered fish and chips. The shrimp came out fine , the fish and chips came our chicken and tartar sauce. They told the waiter who said that they would bring out the fish ,which did not happen. Thirty minutes later they still had not gotten the fish. This place was an absolute dump. The greeter was annoyed by our arrival for some reason we were two adults and my 12 year old daughter. The table given to us was so filthy with ketchup dried up on it and the bench seats were greasy and disgusting. The carpeted area what shrimp tails, straw liners, kids cups, dirty napkins. Not a big for chain restaurants but this was in the parking lot of my hotel and didn't feel like driving tonight. Decided to sit at the bar and was surprised that it was empty at 5:15. I enjoyed a very delicious painkiller drink classically made with purser's rum, coconut, orange juice and some sprinkle of nutmeg. Nice touch to add the toasted coconut rim on the glass which had been dipped in Honey prior. Quite tasty! They do limits you to 2 though since they are pretty strong. Was staying at the Marriott Courtyard so was very convenient to walk to after a long day at work. Our server was new to the job and was very pleasant and attentive so service was on point. Love coming here. The parking lot has plenty of room, and the service is always great! I usually get their grilled chicken, its served on a bed of rice and I usually get it with the broccoli. The hostess is always good and seems to know her rotation very well. The food is always great quality and you get a lot for what you're paying. The staff is masked and they are practicing social distancing! It's quiet but still a good place to have a family dinner. They have great kids options as well. I always have loved the Cheddars chain and this one did not disappoint. I'm here in Lubbock on business and found a Cheddars. I immediately bookmarked this location and headed here for a late lunch. My co worker suggested that we get these vodka ice teas and they were a big bit. The menu says that you are only allowed to drink 2! We order our main meals which I had the grilled catfish with broccoli casserole and mashed potatoes and my coworker had the fried shrimp and chicken tenders with red beans and Mac and cheese. It wasn't very crowded so our food came out quickly. It was delicious! And the drink had me feeling pretty good. The check came and it was @ $30 for both of our meals including the drink! Well we left pretty full and satisfied and little did I know we would return today. We had another event to attend and after getting watered down drinks there we returned later tonite to have 2 more ice teas and that meant we had a total of 3 today!! This will be my go to drink from now on whenever I visit a Cheddars. Thankfully we made it back to our hotel room only 4 miles away, with out incident. read more

Our overall impression was that the place looked tired & not real clean. A few years ago this location closed for a few weeks & was given a face lift & new management. It could be past time to do that again. We eat lunch out everyday & during the pandemic we picked up food from local restaurants every day to support the industry. We never ordered from Cheddar's. We hadn't been to Cheddars in a long time & we tried to recall what we had enjoyed previously. Our food was passable but not anything that would make us come back. Our server was ok. It was a good day at the lubbock cheddars! lets get the neg out the way. we ordered the warm buttered croissants and they came out cold. they were delicious and flaky, but stone cold. our entrees were awesome expecially the shrimp and mango covered tilipia. The broccoli was covered in mold. I showed it to my waitress and she brought us another plate of mold covered broccoli and said that the kitchen manager said it was fine. I tried my best to eat around it but there was no piece that didn't have mold. Another manager came to say they were going to take the broccoli off of my check but 20 minutes later there was two broccoli charges. I had such a great experience here the other night.... great, great service as a solo diner in the bar. It was actually pretty entertaining on a Saturday night -- lots of the staff would pop in and chat w/ the bartender and I. It was actually alot of fun. I ordered: Maui Margarita $4.95 -- yumm! Onion Rings $3.99 -- very good, HUGE, couldn't finish them all Spasagna (can't remember how much, but under $10) Mango Mojito $4.95 ? - I think Everything was awesome - - I highly recommend the Spasagna sooooo good!
