Cheddars is my favorite homestyle cooking chain. I love the location, in Slidell, and this location, in Katy has become a favorite. I typically order online, but I've dined in at this location. My dine-in experience went smoothly. We were seated promptly and waitress was ready to take our order. Covid-19 precautions were taken and it made the experience more comfortable. This restaurant had a full service menu. I was informed some of the other locations had a limited menu, due to Covid-19 (how). The wait time for the food was very minimal and the food was delicious. I ordered the shrimp and chicken tenders. I also had a frozen drink. It was delicious. The server attended to any and all needs and our experience was a great one. I like Cheddar's, so even if a hiccup occurs, I would give them a pass. Cheddars literally has the same quality of food as places with higher price points. Cheddars is awesome, because you get the dining experience and it's not far from what you would spend at a fast food restaurant. It's the best of both worlds. The location being I-10 makes it pretty accessible. The speed of the road it's on makes it easy to pass up the entrance. read more

I haven't been to Cheddars in years, however we came on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate my mom's birthday. After my experience there today I definitely will not return. THE FOOD QUALITY HAS DECLINED DRAMATICALLY! We were a party of 5 adults and 2 kids. We were sitted promptly and our server (I believe her name was Kiara) was great, but the food was HORRIBLE! They brought the food out with missing condiments no ranch with the chicken tenders like we ordered and NO GRAVY ON THE CHICKEN FRIED STEAK OR MASHED POTATOES! My father literally had to wait 10 minutes for them to "heat up the gravy" my son also ordered mashed potatoes no gravy came with it either like we ordered. The broccoli rice casserole was DISGUSTING (LUBYS has waaaay better broccoli rice casserole) this tasted mushy and gross. The chicken fried steak was gross as well didn't even taste like meat! How is chicken fried STEAK mushy?? We immediately told our server which they omitted from our bill. My mom ordered loaded baked potato with bacon bits (they charge you a dollar just to add bacon bits!) That too never came with the order SMH The only redeemable menu item was the fall off the bone ribs. It went really well with the bourbon glaze sauce (it came with the salmon entree in which the salmon didn't even look cooked all the way) Ugh Cheddars I was highly disappointed in our meal plus we were told they can't even sing happy birthday to my mom because they got sued lol just a miss! Visited with my family one weekday night and place was still packed. Our server was so accommodating. Sad we weren't able to catch his name. He was so nice he even split our pasta order in 2 different plates so we wouldn't have a hard time sharing. My dad ordered the Beer Battered Fried Shrimp, my sister got the New Orleans Pasta and I always get the Grilled Tilapia and Shrimp with Mango Salsa with a side of Broccoli Cheese Casserole and Mashed Potatoes. However my side of steamed broccoli didn't show up with my meal. The rest of the family all enjoyed their dinner with no issues. The issue was the service. Friendly enough but horribly slow. I had to ask for water to be refilled. When we asked for another beer it took 10 minuets for the waitress to tell us they were out of that kind. By that time we had enough. Cheddars is one of my go-to places for a great dinner and great margaritas! You can think of Cheddars as a more "upscale" version of Chilis, even though it isn't anything fancy schmancy. Come in Nike shorts & a T-shirt and you won't stand out.. promise :) First off, before ordering anything, ask for the croissants. Perfectly drizzled in honey butter, these warm, crisp croissants are the best way to start your Cheddars experience. You'll thank me later. New Orleans Pasta (4/5) - one of my favorite Cajun pastas, with lots of sausage and chicken chunks. Props to you if you can finish the whole thing! Margaritas (5/5) - the margs here are huge and range from $4-$8ish!! Large and inexpensive?? I'll take it! My favorite ones are the strawberry and Hawaiian flavors! I'm a big fan of Cheddar's...and yes I mean big (rubs tummy) I visit this particular location more than any of the ones that are on my radar because of its proximity to my job. Countless checkins here (don't stalk me bro)... I've tried dish after dish and hardly disappointed, new dishes beyond my standard grilled tilapia with the mango salsa (still goes hard in the paint) and the fried catfish, and spinach dip (it's ok at this location). Service is standard at this location, I've had a few check a bitch moments though but very rare. My "first try" dishes at this location are the: -veggie plate (best deal going if you can do without a meat entree, you will be full as a tick! 4 veggies served with a side salad or a cup of soup and a croissant) -onion rings app (delish, big, and lots of em) -ultimate nachos app (don't really like the ground beef, tastes uniformed and manufactured texture, not like real meat should) but the nachos are otherwise delicious especially with the fajita chicken -grilled chicken pecan salad (the pecans are to die for and perfect compliment) -chicken tortilla soup (good) -New Orleans pasta (I did not like this while at the restaurant...too much going on but it was better the next day after I packed 90% of it to go -dijon chicken and mushrooms (delicious!!!!! but if you don't like a strong dijon flavor, don't get it but it's full of mushrooms and served with 2 nice sized grilled chicken breasts *kisses finger tips* perfecto!) -fish tacos (they aight) -edamame was delicious but they no longer serve it at Cheddars :( So go my friend, eat and be merry..and top it with a huge ass piece of cake and ice cream (hot fudge cake sundae *yes Jesus* but you must share it) read more

Cheddars is an American style restaurant most comparable to Chili's. I usually cannot resist the urge to order the chicken tenders here. The chicken tenders are fat with light flaky breading and they aren't stingy on the portions. With the two sides, its easy to over eat. Everything else I've ordered has also been good with no complaints. Service at this location has been very inconsistent. Some times the food comes faster than I check in and other times I wonder if they are still trying to catch the chicken. All in all Cheddars has been good to me and even though I'm not a fan of chain restaurants this one is A OK. read more

One of my BFFs loves this place. Other than the occasional super long wait, there are a few reasons to come here: price, portions and their prickly pear margarita. I like that you can order a cheeseburger all by itself and that the sides are extra. While I won't turn down a good fry, sometimes you just want the burger. And at about $5, the cheeseburger is so good. And while you wait, order the croissants. Drizzled in a sweet, creamy sauce, these will go down like fat sugar pills that you'll be glad the doctor ordered. Every now and then you need the prickly pear margarita. The taste and portion are phenomenal and you'll forget you're at a Cheddars. Heck, drink a second one and you'll forget that you even ate those croissants. Wait. No we didn't. Cheddar's is probably my casual restaurant of choice due to their generous portions, fair prices and quality of food. The service is usually hit or miss depending on who you get. But when you're paying less than ten dollars for your meal, as long as the server smiles once in a while and is generally competent I'm fine with it. I usually order their rib eye with the loaded baked potato and broccoli and cheese casserole. Oh yes you HAVE to try their honey butter croissants!!! Make sure to ask for them fresh. So yesterday (09/11) my bestfriend and I got there at 2:55PM , to begin with the waiter was no where to be found and the Ruben showed up and took our order , it was 3:30 and we were still waiting for our drinks! We went ahead and asked the hosts to see what was going on and he advised us that the bartender was a little bit busy ( keep in mind that we were sitting right by the bar and it was empty ) we ended up having to cancel our drinks and meal , it was just not acceptable to keep someone waiting for that long without a valid reason. Really impressed after seeing the previous reviews. We were seated quickly and the service was prompt. The kitchen staff was being managed very well from what I heard. We were seated by the kitchen area and I heard multiple times where the manager was motivating and pushing the staff to be the best. The only thing that takes away from 5 stars is that we did not get refills until after our meal. Our server only came by the table a couple times. This location is not up to par with other Cheddar's I have been to. I have probably been to at least 12 different locations as Cheddar's is one of my favorite restaurants, but this one was the worst. They actually ran out of clean silverware and we had to wait several minutes after being served our salads and appetizer before we could eat. Service was slow, food was cold, dining area and restrooms were filthy, and the overall atmosphere was uncomfortable. Pacing/timing of a meal is an issue at a lot of Cheddar's locations and this was no exception. Salads were brought out immediately but appeared to have been sitting out for some time. We ate them and then waited 10-15 minutes until the appetizer came out, followed by our entrees literally 30 seconds later. This was the second incident I had with roaches being in their establishment. I'm not sure if it's not clean there but it's definitely disgusting to see roaches while trying to enjoy lunch or dinner. I really love this place for some reason...every time I come in here to eat I have a good time. It's not like anything in particular will knock your socks off but just sort of everything they do here is good. The prices are more than reasonable, the food is really tasty, and the drinks can't be beat. This is a solid place to go out to eat that won't break the bank and you'll leave feeling full. So we wait and wait until finally a server comes over to take our drink order. The food is at the least meh. We have tried this place a few times but I think it's time to just cut the cord. Two words: COMFORT FOOD! We don't have this chain back st home, but the building shape/layout remind me of an Olive Garden... It's open and airy with large ceiling fans that in fact were large "fans" (hard to describe I guess...) It reminded me of something you'd see in Aruba, it had a tropical feel. Good value, I ordered a loaded baked potato and one-half of a turkey club for $5.99. I ate the baked potato, which was perfectly cooked with a kosher-salted skin, and a croissant, and called it a day. I had the turkey club a lil later in the day and it was yummy. This place loves butter, 'cause the bread that the club was on was brioche... So good. My sister had a chicken pot pie, topped with croissant dough (!!) and my Aunt had a Philly cheese steak that looked good. A LOT of melted cheese... For starters we split a tower of onion rings with ranch. The rings were light & crispy, I'm sure they managed to sneak extra butter or even croissant dough into the recipe for extra yummi-ness... They may not have delivery (you could do it through DoorDash) but they do have Carry Out but i highly recommend dining in. Still one of the only ones dining in during COVID. The servers are High-Energy, very charismatic and food is exquisite! You even get a free complimentary plate of Croissants They will treat you how you would treat your grandparents!
