Went to Cheddars in Dothan recently and was so unimpressed that we walked out before even ordering. It took too long to be seated and then it took too long for a server to come over. When the server finally approached us I asked for a diet Dr Pepper and he said "we don't carry that", I replied it's on your menu. Phenomenal if I could give it better than a 5 Star I most certainly would, We went right after they reopened on 6/21/2020, and they were taking every precaution to keep everyone safe, we had never been here before and my husband wanted to surprise me and let me say he did. Our waitress Shemeka was very attentive even with 7-8 tables full of people she still made sure our visit was perfect. She made suggestions and we decided to take her up on two of them and oh wow were we glad we did. My husband got the 8oz Sirloin with green beans and corn with a house salad with Ranch dressing, I tried the Chicken Pot Pie and a house salad with Pomegranate dressing, my dressing was wonderful I have never had a pomegranate dressing before and was very glad I took her suggestion and tried it. We both went with the unsweet tea due to my husband being diabetic. To say we left full and happy would be an understatement. I am positive the next time we are in Dothan we will be back. Never been here before and my wife said she enjoys the Buffalo chicken wraps so I figured we'd stop in. The people were nice, and that's the only reason it's not 1 star. We went to cheddars in Fort Myers Florida and enjoyed it. We were driving through Dothan, Alabama and thought we would go again. When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess. We told her we would like to sit at a hightop in the bar if that was OK. She said yes. Gave us our menus and told us to sit wherever we wanted. Once we walked into the bar, a female bartender told us that we needed to go back out to the hostess station to be seated. We tried to explain, four times, that she was the one that sent us into the bar area. She wouldn't listen to what we have to say. She had her mind made up that she wanted us to start over at the hostess station. Meanwhile we were standing by a hightop. She told us that we could not sit there. She said, "can't you read"? There was a sign on the table that said we couldn't sit there, but we didn't have a chance to read it because we were focusing on her telling us to go back out to the hostess station. Apparently she wasn't listening to what we had to say. " can't you read", it's not a nice customer service thing to say. We were treated very disrespectful and talked down to . I attribute this to her lack of customer service , training and/or Communication skills. Needless to say, we ended up leaving the restaurant. We had a great experience in Florida not in Dothan, Alabama. We will not recommend anyone going to that restaurant. read more

Never again! we waited 20 minutes to order drinks and our waitress was 10 feet away, talking about Friday night. Food arrived cold and without utensil. the utensils arrived after another 10 minutes, which they were plastic, because none were wrapped. Try cutting a stake with a plastic fork and knife. Cheddar's seems to have serious management issues, especially since we were there at 1600, before any possible rush. We moved to Midland City Alabama from Connecticut and have been to a dozen restaurants in the past 3 weeks. This is by far the best one to date. Our server Brandon was courteous, friendly and GREAT. We also actually tasted the liquor in our drinks! The meals were huge! The chicken tenders were juicy, not dried out. We came from Jacksonville for a wedding and decided to stop in with the kids. It's the first time we have been in a restaurant since quarantine so we were a bit skeptical. We had the most exceptional service by Sarah. When I tell you she was so caring and knowledgeable about everything, she was! Everyone was spread out and she did apologize if it took a minute (which it didn't). Our food came out correct and hot and she was very attentive. 5/24/23 visit. Bad day for Cheddars. Never had a bad experience at any Cheddars location in various states until today. Been here before enjoyed restaurant so today was huge disappointment. Waiter although a pleasant young man lacks training. Whispers making it hard to hear him even in the lightly populated restaurant. Doesn't understand empty glasses don't earn him a good tip. Minor complaint but he added an extra appetizer because he wasn't paying attention. Major complaint, the only time he hurried to do anything was to remove the plate I was still eating from. Major Positive: responded appropriately when kitchen did not cook steak as ordered. Kitchen : cooked 2 steaks, one fat and one thin, must have cooked same time as thin came out as desired and fat one was far short of as ordered. Manager : would have been nice to speak to a manager regarding visit but none came around we didn't search for one as we were disgusted and wanted to leave when we got done. Never had an experience in here like this, will only happen once more and I;ll be done with them. I don't normally leave negative reviews and yes, I have contacted Cheddar's. We had the worst experience at this location on Sunday January 28th and I don't know if we'll ever go back. This visit was a second chance visit from another poor experience there. The nightmare started when the hostess seated us in a closed section but didn't acknowledge the mistake until we got tired or being overlooked and I asked who our server was. The hostess got the giggles and said she'd seated us in a closed section and would have to move us. I watched her and a server talking as she stared at us while we waited for someone to take our drink order. We should have left then. The visit didn't get much better from there. Our server was friendly but I don't know what was going on in the kitchen because she commented several times that someone else took her things (her order pad, to go bags). When we finally got our food it had been sitting awhile because the alfredo sauce in my meal had started to congeal and the broccoli at the edges was cold. I asked for boxes immediately so we could get out of there. The people at the table beside us had issues too and I overheard them speaking with the manager. It was not a good conversation so I didn't ask to speak with him. We paid our bill and left. Cheddar's used to be a good restaurant and a fun place to visit. This restaurant today, was nasty. We signed in for lunch. Had to wait a while to be seated, which is normal for this location. Once we were escorted to be seated we were taken to a area of the restaurant that was disgusting. He told us to have a seat and we had to ask to have our seats wiped out from all the food on it. We looked around food crumbs all over the floor, towels and tables that had not been bussed. When we left one table had been cleared but everything was still all.iver the floor and they even left their tray in the chair. We've eaten at this location a few times but I dread going at this point because it is such a pain waiting for a table. We're a family if 5, and we inevitably watch several parties of 2-4 people who came in AFTER us get seated before us. On our most recent visit, the manager told us they can't put a chair at the end of a table and they didn't have servers in the large (empty) middle section even though they'd just sat a party of 4 there! The manager had numerous excuses as to why small groups are seated so swiftly and why we wait, and quite frankly, he was a bit snippy about it. This is never a problem at any other restaurant we eat at, so my assumption is that Chaddar's needs a new system or to retrain their employees. We eventually got a seat at a large 6 person booth - the booth beside us had two women sitting at it, maybe done put parties of 2 at tables meant for larger parties? We regularly eat at La Parilla, right down the street, mainly because the food there is consistently good and fast, but also because the staff there is amazing. Fix the problem Cheddar's and maybe we'd eat there more. The food is usually good quality and plentiful at this Cheddar's. However, on our most recent visit I ordered the grilled fish and while the portion size was giant, it was undercooked (honestly, it seemed microwaved, poorly at that) and it wasn't "blackened." Disappointing. Our waitress was very friendly and we never waited long for anything once we were seated. Not only is the food worse since they became "Scratch Kitchen" or whatever they're calling themselves now, the last time I was there I noticed that all of us black patrons had been seated in the back section. Yes, there were white patrons in that section, too, but there were also white patrons seated in the front section as well. I complained to the manager on duty, but I got the impression that not only did she not care--it was her idea. I have to give her credit, though...she played dumb very convincingly. He's a GREAT server, just a bit louder than most. Very attentive and super spot on with recommendations. I would ask for him if you go. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant. There are cool decorative features to check out. The food was good! I got a half rack of ribs and the meat was falling off the bones. The mashed potatoes were very good and the broccoli cheese casserole was yummy! My fiancé got the Monte Cristo sandwich, based on a recommendation first from my best friend and next from Travis. Check out the menu for the details on this unique dish. My fiancé enjoyed it, but wasn't expecting it to have so much batter, so there was a bit more than he preferred. He pulled some off, but then didn't end up eating it all. If you're into flavored tea and lemonade they have several flavors. Now the prices...INCREDIBLY reasonable. If you're in the area, check this place out. They're even open on Sundays, which can be a challenge in South Alabama. read more
