Dinner tonight was a mixed bag. The restaurant was very busy, so we had to wait a while despite our reservation. We didn't mind because KCB is such a great place. Our server was great but harried as she had to wait tables on both sides of the restaurant. We started with the trout dip, which was delicious. There was a long delay between appetizer and entrees, but again, busy! I had the snapper Ponchatrain, which was honestly one of the best fish preparations I've ever had! Blackened snapper on a bed of delicious grits with a topping of crab and an amazing sauce made for a spectacularly yummy dish. My husband had a disappointing experience with the country fried steak. The steak was overdone and the breading didn't stick to the steak. Just not at all satisfying. We will be back but will choose our entrees more carefully next time. Great ambiance!! Great food! Good service! You will not regret eating at KBC in Dothan!

It had been far too long since we were here so we decided to make a weekend trip of it and come to one of our favorite restaurants. We made reservations online and I would highly recommend you do especially for the weekend nights. Their bar area is first come first serve, but we've definitely been there when it is completely full so I wouldn't count on it as a backup plan. It is all street parking in this area and on a busy night. It can be hard to find parking unless you go down a block or two. We started with the okra, french fries and they were delicious! They come with a Sriracha aïoli which gives a little bit of heat, but it balances nicely with these perfectly fried okra fries. It also feels like there's cheese inside of the fried so you get kind of those gooey us along with the okra. Important to note no sliminess! My husband got the steak frites. The steak was definitely thinner than we recall having in the past, but it was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was great. The grits were also really delicious as well, although he wished they would've been just a little bit creamier. I opted for the southern fried steak, which comes on a bed of horseradish mashed potatoes. There were a ton of mashed potatoes on that plate and honestly kind of overwhelmed the steak. But the steak was really tender. I love the breading, although there were certain portions where the breading felt, it was almost too much as it was super crunchy. My husband got the KBC old-fashioned. He always asks for a little bit of cherry juice in his cocktail and the first round, It definitely was more cherry juice than it was liquor. The second one he asked him to just bring the cherry juice in a small container so he could control it and it was much better. I had their peach cocktail and it was absolutely delicious. Very easy to drink, but full of flavor with peach and ginger. read more

Ambiance and service at A+! Everyone is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. The restaurant is also clean (which always gets extra points from me!). There's ample seating, including a covered patio (I think it's covered), bar space, and plenty of tables for families and or large parties. I had been a fan of Chef Kelsey since her Top Chef season so this has been on my list for a while. The food just didn't blow me away, but maybe that's my fault because I had higher expectations. I liked the fact that you can get half orders of some of the shareable. I thought that was a great way to accommodate customers. I had the kimchi nachos and those were slammin'!! In fact, I'd say it was the best dish I had all night. I ordered the bees knees, because my server told me it was a standout (although I should've gone with my instinct and gotten the snapper.) It was very basic. Huge, but basic. It definitely needed more spice to give it a little umph. Now the gouda grits were delicious and the house salad was so filling to be a $6 side which was wonderful. This was my second visit to KBC and it was just as good as I remembered! You are greeted by the desserts case as you enter and head to the hostess station. I was alone, so I headed to the bar where they told me David would take of me there...and boy did he! David provided fantastic service the entire time and had a great personality! The crowd was light as it was a Wed(?) and they had live music. The musician, Brett Stafford Smith, was a one man band and his music was enjoyable. He played a variety of songs, some known and others unknown to me. David "convinced" me to get the downtown peach cocktail and it was a hit, especially since my "diet" went out the window once I set my mind to return. I started with the okra fries. They were whole pieces fried. They were good, it could've used a touch more of seasoning. (I'm from Birmingham, AL where late night fried okra ain't basic! iykyk). My entree was the snapper pontchartrain. The serving size was large and the flavors worked well. My only complaint was my grits were not hot. Otherwise, I'd recommend it. FYI...I still finished my plate...and I ordered dessert. I opted for the cookie. I cant remember what kind it was but it was soooo good! I got it to go and ate it all before I got back to my hotel. Went for brunch with some friends from out of town. Happy to say experience was better than the last time we went. Service, as before was good, but this time food came out in a reasonable amount of time and everything was hot and tasty. We ordered two brunch burgers, kids chicken tenders, the burnt ends sandwich, the hangover bowl and the grandma's breakfast. Sides were good, although the chips and fries were just mediocre. The fries didn't taste fresh, maybe re-heated, but can't say for sure. Others in our group had grits and said they were delicious. We were able to work in dinner before concert at the nearby Civic Center. It had been several years since we had been in Dothan. The entrance area in KBC was a little different with the counter / cases changed, but it still has a great atmosphere and food. The food was excellent. We shared the nachos and tomato salad. For an entree I had the delicious steak frites and my husband, the snapper. The grits on his plate were the best we had ever had. Our server, Anna, was very professional. She made excellent recommendations. You could tell she enjoyed her job. My husband & I were in Dothan for the weekend & decided to try KBC for lunch. I got the Bee's Knees with sweet potato fries. The chicken could not have been more dry. The ranch was the only thing with any flavor. This place is entirely too expensive for the quality of food. I heard the table next to use talking about how dry their sandwich was as well. And the seats are so uncomfortable. I would never ever return here. read more

We were incredibly impressed with our visit. Had a wonderful waiter who was very friendly (Thanks Mike!). He even went back to the kitchen to confirm a couple of ingredients that my wife is allergic to were not in any of the dishes we were ordering. Don't let the Top Chef name fool you... more like Bottom Chef. I ordered lamb chops and they came completely raw. When I asked them to redo it, instead of giving me new lamb chops, they took the raw ones that I had already touched, butterflied them, and still managed to give me raw lamb chops again! Not only is this poor service, but also unsanitary. Additionally, I asked the manager to just take the lamb chops off my bill because it was clear they were never going to cook them right. He insisted I order something else because he didn't want me to be hungry. I wouldn't have ordered anything else since I lost my appetite, but he kept insisting, so I got the steak frites, thinking that maybe it would be comped since he was pushing me to get something else. When my steak frites came, there was a cut in the middle of my steak, and it was clear the chef cut through it to make sure it was cooked. Why would a chef of a nice restaurant need to cut through a steak to know if it's cooked correctly? Although they charged me half for the steak frites, I feel like this entire situation was absurd to begin with. Don't waste your time coming here. read more

Which mom, is a picky eater, so that speaks volumes about the quality of their menu and service. We ordered the sandwiches of the day, because we are adventurous eaters! I'd recommend the same for you. The creativity on the menu is perfection. We have also tried the soups. Which were delightful! My butterbean soup dumplings were delicious and had a nice kick to them from the chili crisp. I did wish they were a bit plumper and the broth on its own was very salty. This was our second visit here. If it had been our first I'm not sure we would go back but I know last time was great so I'll take it as an off day. We got the wicked chicken deviled eggs and they were really good-no issues with that. For our meals we ordered Mahi, snapper, and grilled shrimp with a side of fries. The Mahi was very very dry and the noodles were a bit al dente (was it supposed to be?) The snapper was ok but was also a smidge dry but I liked the flavor. We ate it anyway because it wasn't BAD it was just dry. I'm not sure how my daughter ate her shrimp or fries. The shrimp was so salty I would have sent them back if she would have told me before she ate 4 out of 5 and the fries tasted stale. All the food was barely warm, like it had been sitting a while. The butter pecan cookie was great but my daughter said the macarons were a bit more like eating sugar plastic with no flavor. Our waitress was nice and did her best with recommending foods based on popularity. I think it's just so disappointing because last time was pretty good and the cost is too high for it to be just "ok" Side note my husband and I shared meals and both of us had upset stomachs before we made it home. Food was just ok. I had the cast iron chicken which was dry and tough to chew. I couldn't even. Cut it with my knife. But the mashed potatoes were delicious. Husband had their fish dish pan seared snapper and he said it was delicious. Service was a tad slow, as in we.sat their for like 10 mins before anyone brought us waters. Stop debating and come eat here! We're from Los Angeles and travel the world constantly for both work and pleasure. We were making our way back from Florida via Memphis so randomly picked Dothan as a place to rest for the night. The concierge at the hotel said this place was the town favorite. Well, I owe her a glass of wine because, even after coming off of a 5 week cross country vacation, this was one of the best meals we ever had. The town was lovely the ambience is just charming and the food - oh the food! My recommendation is order every single appetizer. James, our waiter, seemed to know exactly what we wanted before we even asked for it. He was prompt and efficient, yet still attentive and funny (even with an angsty and tired preteen girl - who he managed to win over with his wit). Anyone who gave this place a less than stellar review is high. (Actually, they'd like the food even better if they were high so I honestly don't know what their problem could be but it's definitely a 'them' problem) It's a shame we don't live here or this would be a regular spot for us. I promise if we are ever even near the area we'll be making a diversion to stop by and enjoy another meal. read more

Inside you will be greeted by rustic brickwork with a flair of historical lighting and live music on a weeknight with a talented singer and guitar player. Don't forget to eye the baked goods display at the front and save your choice for later. I settled in for a classic cocktail, the Sazerac. Delicious. The bartender Renee took great care of me. I ordered the Salmon and have now decided this will be my favorite dish here. Maybe my favorite venue to eat salmon in AL! The salmon had a seared crust that was savory and was topped southern butter bean lime cilantro vinaigrette. Wow!! Served on a bed of savory rice, this meal was amazing! I grabbed a cornflake and chocolate chip cookie to go and look forward to enjoying it later. The last time I dined here I had their amazing uncle Bo burger and a cookie to go. The cookie did not make it all the way back to my hotel. We will see how this cookie fares tonight, but I feel that it's chances are not great of making it back either. The service was amazing. The patio was a very unique setup. The fried chicken sandwich and the fried chicken salad were seasoned really well and was a huge portion. I had the brisket burnt end melt. The description sold me immediately. I was very disappointed when I took my first bite. The bbq sauce drowned out any flavor from the brisket and was way too sweet for me. This is by far one of the best restaurants Dothan has ever seen. I saw the reviews on YELP and decided to give it a shot for lunch.... really, really special place. Not only is the food excellent (it's better than excellent) but the attention to detail with plating and over the top service. Our waitress was Hayden and I don't think I've ever been treated kinder. We will give it another try but for the prices set, the food was just not on par. The fish was very dry and my daughter shrimp was just off, possibly just heavy flavor on the sauce. I've been wanting to try KBC, ever since I saw Kelsey on Tournament of Champions. The location is great and the building itself is really rustic, definitely my type of place! We were having a 40th birthday surprise party for one of my best friends so they gave us a big table in a separate room. Our waitress was wonderful! We had 13 people so it was quite a long time before we got our entrees but our apps came out pretty quick. One appetizer "blew up" in the oven so they brought us a different app, free of charge. The broth for our "Southern Potstickers" was so good that I pretty much drank it straight from the bowl. The potsticker itself reminded me a bit of a pierogi. Our entrees were not served together and one person in our party didn't get her food until we had to leave to go axe throwing. I HIGHLY recommend the furikake fries and the deviled eggs (both apps) and the pork chop! I did hear that the steak frites were the best steak our friend has ever eaten!! I was in town last weekend visiting my bff who knows I'm a huge Top Chef fan and had been dying to visit this restaurant! We went for lunch and were seated right away at the bar (a table would have been a wait and they seemed short staffed that day). The bartender whose name I don't recall, was amazing - he was friendly, funny, really knew the menu, and made delicious drinks! I had the spicy margarita and my friend had a grapefruit drink that's name escapes me. She had the turkey wrap (because she was bummed the yes sir yes ma'am was no longer on the menu) and I knew immediately I was having the pimento cheese sandwich - it has bacon, tomatoes, and DELICIOUS pimento cheese - my mouth is watering just typing this!! We both had fries and everything was amazing! The restaurant is cute, I love the toys up front for kiddos to play w while they're waiting, and I loved the overall ambiance of the venue.
