We stopped in for breakfast before our long drive because it had great reviews and it definitely lived up to the reputation! Gabi was our server and she was so happy and sweet! We were so hungry I forgot photos but the food was excellent and we sat by the kitchen and watched every dish that came out and they each had their own amazing presentation! I highly recommend the strawberry butter!! We both ordered the two egg breakfasts and it was filling and fast for us to get back the road! It was very busy after we arrived so I'm happy we got there early! Some of the best fish & chips I've ever had, my only regret was that there were only two filets. I didn't care much for the coleslaw, it just didn't taste right in my opinion, but the fries made up the difference. Erin was a great server who promptly took our orders, checked on us throughout our meal, and was polite and friendly. I ordered their "Steak and Scramble Bowl". This consists of seasoned sirloin steak, scrambled eggs, and roasted grape tomatoes, served over hash browns and drizzled with hollandaise sauce ($14.99). I also ordered my preferred breakfast drink - coffee, black, tyvm. My entree came out piping hot and was very good, however I have to say the sirloin was a hit and miss. About half were tender and juicy, while the other half were a disappointing tough and chewy. Minus 1 Star for lack of consistency. The accommodations are comfortable and the noise level is minimal. In town for a family function and we had to stop back by for breakfast. Arrived around 10am on a Saturday as was able to be seated within about 7 minutes. My husband opted for the chicken and waffle. This is a huge order! It includes both white and dark meat and a total of four pieces of chicken and an entire waffle. He also opted for a side of scrambled eggs with cheese. Chicken was tender, felt there could have been a little more seasoning on the chicken batter. Waffles were tasty, a litttle sweet for his liking, but they were still good. I opted for the southwest bowl which is a scrambled egg bowl over hash-browns with salsa, avacado mash, sour cream and beans. Really tasty and a perfect portion size! I was really impressed with this breakfast diner! I've been to plenty of diners where they're nothing special or the food is mediocre at best. I ordered the steak scrambled egg bowl and was expecting a skimpy portion of chopped up steak (think of chipotle bowls), and instead got a generous portion of large steak bites! They were well-seasoned juicy steak bites. The eggs were soft and not rubbery or overcooked. The hash browns were a perfect amount of crispy and flavorful. I highly recommend this dish (the server recommended it too). The service was fairly quick and there's ample parking. This place is a chain restaurant, but I would recommend if you want a simple, delicious breakfast. read more

This is our go to weekend brunch place. As always, we were greeted by a smile from the sweet hostess. Today, Slater was our server. He's excellent and took extremely good care of us. On top of that, Ms Janice, precious Ms Mary, Mrs Cheryl, and Monica checked on us to be sure we having a wonderful experience. This is a very popular spot for breakfast brunch, with huge portions of so so food. Stick to breakfast items because the other things on the menu are mediocre at best. Maybe it's because of the high volume of traffic but the restaurant itself didn't feel clean. It's hard to feel good about what you eat when the restaurant feels dirty. We won't be back. My husband and I ate at the Metro Diner on 9/30/25 in Dothan at 2 pm. I ordered the beef stew with mushrooms, it came with mashed potatoes and green beans in a bowl. My husband got the teriyaki chicken in a bowl with rice. Mine was delicious, the beef was very tender and favorable. He said his was just Okay,, The restaurant was nice and clean and the waitress was very cheerful but didn't offer extra tea. The prices are a little steep here. read more

Very informative, she knew the items on the board when you walk in, so pleasant to have such great service these days. Great little diner with a good menu. The staff is excellent and very attentive and extremely friendly, didn't have to wait long for our order. I had the BBQ bacon hamburger and my friend had the spicy chicken burger. Both were excellent with generous portions and crispy fries. We ate at Metro for Mother's Day brunch. It was very busy, and raining. I was able to get on the list, sit in my car, and I received a text when our table was ready. Easy Peasy. Our server was Janice and we will ask for her every time we go. She was friendly, efficient, accurate in taking our orders, and gave us just the right amount of attentiveness. So disappointed! I'm from out of town, and asked a local where to eat. They gave this high marks. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits - hey, it's the South, they should nail this, right? Sigh, no. Flavorless grit cakes, bland and heavy gravy, and what seems to be frozen precooked shrimp that were just tossed in. Incredible food. Nice atmosphere. Great service. This place was a wonderful treat for us to stop at for an early dinner on our way through Dothan. The grit cakes in the shrimp and grits were SO CRISP. The whole meal was incredibly well-rounded in texture, presentation, and taste. There were crispy bits of bacon and grit cake, tender shrimp, fresh green onions, and incredible creamy sauce. The andouille was not particularly flavorful, but the addition of smoked sausage was nice. I didn't think the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans looked too awesome, but then I tasted them. Those are worth it for true foodies to try. It's comfort food with flare! If everyone in the country had tried this, we'd have thanksgiving at least two or three times a year. I'm so glad my mother ordered the turkey. I wouldn't have even thought to try it. We visited the Metro Diner in Feb. 2022. We were on our way to Florida and wanted a nice spot to get out of the car and take a break. Service: Our service was good. Casey was our waitresses and was pretty attentive. We did have to ask for drink refills a few times. She was super polite! Food: We had the Western Omelette and the Chicken Finger plate. The omelette was very solid, while the Chicken Fingers resembled that of something we'd get at Zaby's. That's not an insult - they were good. Just not fantastic. Drinks: We got a Water, Diet Coke, and Coffee. The water had an odd taste to it. I'd pass. The Coke was normal, and the Coffee was okay. Drinks are $2.99ea Bathrooms: Pretty clean - no complaints. Do note - all sanitizer stations were bone dry - if you care about that sort of thing. Other: the Cooks seemed to really enjoy their job. Seemed very happy and was cutting up with each other. I ordered tonight from Metro diner. I have been ordering form Metro diner for years now ever since they first opened. Well the main thing that I ordered the shrimp and grits were missing upon delivery. I reported to uber eats and they said that the item was not eligible for a refund. then I called uber again and somebody. They told me it would have to be escalated to somebody else. so I don't know if I'll get a refund or not, but I had to pay for my food all over again through Uber Eats because I'm disabled and not able to get around like I use to. I called and spoke to the manager Danial and he was very nice. He even offered to talk to Uber Eats and explain that they had forgotten to put it in the bag, but I was so looking forward to my dinner. I re-ordered and when it got here the second time. There was not only one but two shrimp and grits with a note apologizing. And that made me feel so good that they took that upon their self to do that. Because it's uber eats responsibility to take care of all of that not Metro. Even though they forgot to put it in the bag. Danial saved the day so not only am I having shrimp and grits tonight I'll have shrimp and grits for tomorrow, so I got a double blessing. Came upon Metro Diner to have breakfast. I did not know this but this place was featured in an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. In the waiting area you'll see pictures of Guy Fieri and the owners of Metro Diner. I had the meat lovers omelette with wheat toast and home fries. The omelette itself with very delicious and fluffy. The home fries were also delicious. I wish I knew what food was featured on the episode of DDD. The menu I was given was a brunch menu. I should have asked for a breakfast menu but I was pressed for time. Last minute I heard their very popular items where the stuffed waffles. Will try next time. This place gets busy! The food is solid! I had a veggie omelet minus the tomatoes, crispy hashbrowns, and wheat toast. All of it came out piping hot. My omelet was missing one of the items but it was still good. The coffee was fresh tasting. Our server kept the mug full which I really appreciated. She was friendly and attentive.
