This was my first time going to a Metro Diner so I got the chicken plate with no changes.... Mash potatoes and green beans. Let me just say this plate didn't disappoint. A generous portion of chicken and was breaded just right and cooked to perfection. Crispy and juicy. The mash potatoes were very good. Almost as good as my wife's grandma. That is saying a lot. The green beans had some sort of spice on it that was different and very good. The waiter was very friendly and checked on me several times during my visit. I am not sure if all the other metro diners are this good but I would definitely recommend this one in Dothan AL. Hats off to the cooks and staff. read more

I have seen Metro Diner in other cities I have traveled to. To be honest, I really haven't thought about giving it much of a try. But when Dothan opens something new, I am willing to try it to break up the mundane list of go-tos in Dothan. I visited during the first week it opened. At first glance, it looks like an upscale Perkins and the menu has a similar flair as an IHOP and Cracker Barrel. My friend ordered appetizers. The cheese tots were a majestic kind of different. Basically, the tots were homemade and stuffed with cheese. The loaded chips had pulled pork with cheese, ranch, and jalepenos. At first, we were just given chips. Our server realized the order was wrong and fixed it immediately. Props to them. The tots were 50 times better than the chips. I ordered meatloaf. The meatloaf was disappointing. Cracker Barrel's meatloaf is on a totally different level than this meatloaf. The meatloaf was basically a different shaped hamburger steak that was unflavorful. The mashed potatoes were awesome and the grilled squash and zucchini were better than expected. Sweet tea was freshly brewed and refreshingly sweet! I would eat here again to give it another try. I have definitely had worse and the meatloaf was a total disappointment. But other places in Dothan will be higher on my list. read more

The Metro Diner has the best breakfast... food... for anyone looking for home style cooking. Coffee makes or breaks a place for me so they have good coffee. The wait staff are always polite and on top of their tables. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and people appear to truly enjoy eating here. We ordered curbside this morning. My husband arrived to pick up and he let them k ow he was there twice on the link they sent.. no one came to the car so he had to go inside. He said the bag full of food was just sitting there. When he got it home, the avocado toast I ordered had no tomatoes so that was NOT good. My husband ordered a breakfast with eggs which were cold and the cheese was hard, sausage and it was soggy. The pancakes we're actually really good but they only sent one butter and one syrup for 3 large pancakes. It impressed at all.. we could have done better at home. Update! I was very disappointed with my chicken pot pie. I should have sent it back. But after a 30 plus minute wait for our meal I was starving. I have ordered this item several times and this one was not like the picture that is on here. Mine came out with a piece pie crust on top of bowl of chicken something another. There was a piece of what they must thought was crust. I could not even cut it with my knife. The taste was okay but just not what I expected. Service: 5 stars! Food: 4 stars Let me start out by saying that I would definitely come here again, if not only for the great quality service. We were seated almost immediately, and our server was super friendly and helpful! She let me know that I could get the eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes even though that's not strictly on the menu (yum). The only bummer is that when I got my food, the hollandaise sauce was broken, and my hash browns had cheese on them (which wasn't on the order, but my server got it right so I guess it's the kitchen's fault?). Anyway, I would recommend this place to others if the food quality was up to par with the prices, but unfortunately it doesn't seem quite there. Everything was still tasty, but could use improvement. Maybe it was just a fluke, but I guess we'll see next time we're in town. read more

What an incredible experience. I'm in town for work and really wanted steak and eggs. Found this place. Packed Sunday brunch. I snuck in and found the only breakfast barstool available. I really enjoy watching the kitchen go to work. The expo was commutative and swift. The line was on top of everything and quick. I felt like Anthony Bourdain in a random city enjoying my time. We arrived after the lunch crowd and seated right away. Nice clean store with friendly staff. We both had the bacon, Swiss cheese burger. One with onion rings and the other with grilled vegetables. The burgers were very tasty with just the right amount of bun. They are very generous with some excellent bacon. The onion rings were some of the best I've tasted. The grilled vegetables were very tasty and fresh. I enjoyed a cup of the special flavored coffee. This food will cost a bit more than a burger joint, but it's a nice atmosphere and well worth a few extra dollars for quality. We will return to try some other great looking menu items. read more

Make sure to check out their specials as they have provided me with my most delicious meals here (low country frittata, chorizo cheeseburger benedict, crab cake benedict). The chicken and waffle is also salivatingly good. One star was taken off because sometimes the kitchen staff and wait staff can be hectic or not communicating and the food sits in the pass for longer than desired. Also, come here early if you don't want to sit and wait. On each occasion I've come, it was before 8AM. No problem getting seated quickly then! read more

Went back with my old standby of Charleston Shrimp and Grits! It was absolutely delicious. I took a friend with me who had never eaten at Metro Diner before. She couldn't decide what to order shrimp and grits or chicken and waffles. Our waitress suggested she do a half order of both. I didn't know you could get a half order.
