The food and atmosphere is so relaxing and cozy. The food taste like Mama was in the kitchen cooking Sunday dinner! I had a special "Stuffing waffle" which was so good. I love when restaurants think outside the norm. Savory waffles have become my favorite way to have a waffle! Our server Shawniece was so helpful and attentive and was completely right when she told EVERYTHING on the menu was delicious! This right off the Circle, so super convenient. While traveling through dothan, I actually found this place several years ago. On my way north this morning I stopped again for breakfast which I will say was one of the best breakfast I've ever had. The staff was great coffee cup never ran out very pleasant fast service. Would recommend this location anytime. Seems like I'm always coming through for breakfast would love to try their home cooked lunch sometime. read more

Nice place to sit and enjoy a meal, the breakfasts are really the only things we like there.

Visited based on recommendation of my hotel staff. The hostess stand is situated deep inside- you have to walk through the whole restaurant to get to it. But after that, be glad you came! Sunday bfast at 8:30am... good traffic, but not packed. Everyone was observing face covering orders. Ordered a western omelet with hash browns, toast, and coke. Service was awesome and I had a plate on my table within 7 minutes of ordering. Everything was fresh and delicious. My only gripe was the toast was not buttered (that I could detect). Ordered the Italian Meat Pressed Burrito, with a side of home fries. Both had absolutely no flavor, not even salt. The only thing that made the burrito somewhat bearable/flavorful was the marina that comes with it. Not only that, our server never once came back to check on us after putting in our orders, other than to give us the check. We even had asked for a glass of ice when we ordered our food, and eventually had to ask another server for it because ours was nowhere to be found. Bad start that almost made us leave... hostess sat us at a dirty table and when we asked to have it wiped down got a horrible attitude and barely wiped the table! However... the waitress redeemed it when she came over and cleaned it properly!!! I had the eggs Benedict with the avocado and it was amazing!!!!!! The pot pie however was not! Recently moved to Dothan and was happy to see an old favorite here. The food is always hot and tasty and the service is prompt and friendly. I've tried many menu items and have not been disappointed. The pot pie is my favorite but you can not go wrong with the pot roast, fish and chips or burger. And all of the breakfast items are first rate. read more

Searching for a reasonable country cooked meal, I came across the Metro Diner on Yelp. Checked a few reviews and star ratings and decided to give them a try since the one inJacksonville, Fl. is a hot spot for well prepared food and has been exceptionalized by the community. This is where the similarity ends and the need for competent and aggressive management begins. Walking in, I was greeted and asked about what I desired for seating. A beautiful southern day inspired me to sit in their enclosed outdoor patio area and immediately our drink orders were taken. During this process, I looked at the employees there and wondered why there were no identification name tags. Shrugging that off, made my appetizer order for one cheesey fries with jalapenos and real bacon pieces. Digging into the appetizer, all the fries were bare naked. No cheese at all on each one pulled. Like the fries on the bottom of the clump of cheese goo just would not combine or stick together. Our orders were made and each came out looking nearly perdect. The salisbury steak smothered in beautiful brown mushroom gravy with sauteed mushrooms and mashed red potatoes tasted great till I hit the undercooked portion at a very medium rare doneness. Lost my appetite for anything else. Overall, the place was mostly clean and organized. However, the reatrooms were unsanitary and unclean. Floors were covered from toilet to sink with human waste drizzle and boogers flung onto the walls under the sinks. The stinch from lack of appropiate disinfectant use left me feeling sick. I have to give it 4 stars because the food tastes great if not salty (fries). We ordered the 'Hero' which I see now is not on the menu. I do not know if we received the All American Burger or Bacon, Mushroom, Swiss Burger. The one we thought had everything including Jalapenos on it and stood over 3" tall. It was great. This had bacon but there was NO tomato or peppers. We were there at 3:00 PM and thought it was closed. Will No Longer Order Any Burgers! Showed the wait staff my military ID and no discount. We had breakfast here previously, we only ate about half of the food,It was about $65 with tip. Trying lunch but it's a 45 minute wait. I tried the shrimp special and the wife had the turkey. It was another 20 minutes for the food. Definitely not worth the wait. There are too many places in Dothan to eat that have better service and food for the price. For a new restaurant its not very clean. We tried dinner and it was great. Our service was exceptional and the food was tasty. They are not as busy now as when they first opened and it made a difference for us. We will be back. If you didn't have a pleasant experience there you may want to try again. read more

Today I really wanted fish! I had been wanting it for a few days and couldn't really think of where to go. I went to Captain D's and the line was ridiculous! Then I thought about metro dinner because I had their fish and chips before and it was pretty good. So I walked in, I was greeted, and was able to place my order in person. The hostess offered me a complimentary drink while I waited, a delicious raspberry tea. It honestly didn't take too long maybe 10 minutes for my order to be completed. I had an errand to complete before I could eat, but when I did get home, my food was still warm! The fish was nice and flaky and the fries weren't soggy. The coleslaw was tangy and the cocktail sauce was delicious on the fish! Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture before I started eating and an empty container doesn't really display the meal! read more

On our way home to Panama City Beach from Atlanta. Stopped because of the reviews. Everyone ordered a French Dip. Daughter and I shared and had a side salad instead of fries, husband ordered mashed potatoes instead of fries, 2 16 year old boys had it with fries. Delicious. Our server was efficient and kept our drinks filled and the ketchup flowing-good thing-we all got fries plus our chosen sides! The halved my daughter and my meal onto separate plates-which was fantastic. French dips can be hard to share. The salad was perfect with ranch. We'll go back-no question. There was nothing about this restaurant that I was amazed about, maybe the wait time? First time eating here I ordered the deep fried heart attack Monte Cristo. Not gunna lie, I was impressed. I have never had a fully deep fried sandwhich. I generally love monte Cristos but this one was just too difficult to eat. The second time eating here, I decided to do an eggs benedict which is my absolute favorite! And it was pretty basic. Our visit today was a HOME RUN!!! Our server Miranda was EXCELLENT!!!! We went there so our dog did not have to be left in the hotel!! The food was very good and we had 3 delicious plates all were delicious and big portions! Our dog even got some water with ice, he was a happy dog!!! All the staff we met were so kind and friendly. (We have a Metro Diner in Stuart, where we had evacuated from, and they don't hold a candle to this location....we've tried ours a few times, to no avail. My wife and I just moved to the area. Today while looking for a place to have lunch, we passed Metro Diner and my wife asked, "what's Metro Diner?" We stopped and fell in love. I had the Bissell Breakfast and she had the Avocado Bacon Burger. The food arrived quickly and everything about our orders was right. Everything was delicious and the potions were generous. Our waitress, Pam, was friendly and attentive. Our cups never got half empty before being refilled. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I'd give it six stars if I could. read more

Our sweet waitress accidentally rang the wrong item in. I told the expediter that i received the wrong Benedict (usually I would not complain but I really wanted the fried chicken one) and almost instantly everyone came to apologize. I explained that it was not a big deal at all that I was just eager to try the other one. I did not expect an apology or anything! I wasn't upset at all! The manager gave us the meal and even gave us extra fries. The staff here went above and beyond to take care of something that I felt wasn't even a problem! Went back with my old standby of Charleston Shrimp and Grits! It was absolutely delicious. I took a friend with me who had never eaten at Metro Diner before. She couldn't decide what to order shrimp and grits or chicken and waffles. Our waitress suggested she do a half order of both. I didn't know you could get a half order. Our waitress was fun and very attentive. My friend loved the shrimp and grits and the chicken waffles. She has decided that Metro Diner is her new favorite restaurant. read more
