We love this chain restaurant so much. We had the honey buttered croissants upon ordering our drinks, and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful they were. I wanted an onion rings appetizer, but they were not available on the reduced menu. We ordered baby back ribs, and they were so delicious. We also ordered a top sirloin steak, medium, but it was a little overcooked. Our waitress was kind and friendly. We appreciated that the restaurant was still social distancing the tables, and that all employees were responsibly wearing face coverings. read more

While running errands yesterday my husband and I stopped for lunch. It was about 12:30 on Saturday, but they were not busy. We were seated right away but in the bar area which was a bit loud and given menus. We sat there for over 10 minutes but no one came to our table. There were two staff behind the bar and a waiter and waitress wandering about between the other 3 customers in the bar. A couple seated at the bar received their food quickly. We decided it was not worth our time to sit there with no service. We were there one other time and it was fine and the food was good. Doubt we will go back - the girl at the front made a point of saying thank you, until she looked at where we had been sitting and realized the menus were still on the table. I sat at the bar, which had 6 other people...... with 2 bartenders. So I don't exactly understand how you are so busy because the girl had a friend sitting next to me drinking. I Had the lemon peppered chicken and it was amazing! i'm a very picky eater so i was pleased with the whole meal. Their margs are great and cheap. Very poor service. Salad orders came out wrong. Entrees came out wrong. It took WAY TOO LONG to correct the orders. Busing was totally inadequate; all our plates piled up on the table. Our server, though a nice young lady, was inattentive. She should concentrate on her serving skills rather than the lighthearted chit chat. The food was pretty good; the chicken tenders are awesome and the chicken pot pie and bread pudding were tasty. I will say, though, the serving sizes of the side dishes were very small. I would have liked to have more than a tablespoon of the delicious broccoli cheese casserole. Finally, the most aggravating point of the experience was the check. We were a four top, splitting the check 2 and 2. Unfortunately, our server, who knew from the beginning the check would be split, took over 40 minutes to process our checks, and when she did finally come back, the checks were WRONG. We asked for a manager, but he dealt with us abruptly and was anything but gracious. After a bit of back and forth, he comped our meal. Absolutely one of THE BEST places to eat in Daytona. Yes, I know it's "commercialy".. but the food is EXCELLENT and the price cannot be beat. We've been there maybe 15 times now, and just had our first "bad" experience.. and as "bad experiences" go.. it really wasn't that bad. The couple we were with are a little more impatient than us (I blame it on their youth) and due to a packed house and understaffing.. things moved a little slow for their taste. HOWEVER.. the manager made everything absolutely perfect by comping the entire meal. This is definitely a place we will return to again and again. The Half Rack of ribs is tops, the steaks are perfectly cooked, the fried fish is out of this world, the breading they use for the chicken tenders is addictive.. and again, folks.. The food was pretty good; we enjoyed the queso appetizer and country fried chicken but not the baked spaghetti dish. But the service was horrible. I think it was just our waitress Briana as we heard her arguing with a lady at one of her other tables. I really used to love Cheddar's. But little by little they're losing points with me. We were thrilled when we saw a Cheddar's on our visit to Daytona Beach. I am a picky eater. One thing I absolutely do not eat under any circumstances is cheese. I ordered the loaded baked potato side - no cheese, no sour cream. A woman other than our server brought it to me fully loaded with both cheese & sour cream. I simply explained my order and the fact that the cheese from the potato had sprinkled on to the salmon and other things on the plate. She started to drill me about allergies and other issues and told me that I should have explained that it was an allergy when I ordered it. Well, wait a minute. I thought that I had the right to order any item with or without anything, whether it's an allergy or not. Girl bye. Sometimes I don't feel like explaining and justifying every request. My reviews have been really long-winded lately, so to make a long story less long, our server came back and sincerely apologized for how this other woman had handled our situation. She had keyed in the item correctly and had requested it as I had ordered it. Later, a manager stopped by and made it right. I appreciate that our server was truly a woman of integrity. She took responsibility for the kitchen's mistake. I chose not to eat that evening. But, I was grateful for the sincere apology and professionalism from our server. She saved them from a 1-Star Review. I would never pay money to go to a place that will not take responsibility for their mistakes. Let alone, blame their mistakes on the customer. The best Cheddar's I've been to by far! It's delicious. The restaurant is clean, the food is hot. The choices are endless but not overwhelming. There are choices from the delicious "Texas-Sized Nachos" to the steak. Kids are perfectly happy with burgers and hot broccoli. French fries are delicious as well. I am definitely impressed with Cheddars (in Daytona, FL) above all others. This restaurant has made it back on my list of places for comfort food. Yummy. This is my 3rd visit for lunch. My oldest loves their tortilla soup. Just enough spice. All of us had burger which we asked for MR and they were well done. Both my sons ate theirs. I could only eat 1/2 to dry. I asked our server he said "they only make them well" wish he told us at time of ordering duh. Our family friend had fried chicken & shrimp. Sitting here for an hour and 15 minutes and still waiting for our dinner. We did get our onion rings after 10 minutes of waiting, but they were room temp. Hour and a half entrees came - no refills on water-raw salmon and coleslaw that was mostly liquid - the pot pie was ok but my better half was too upset to eat more than a few tablespoons. Very disappointed in this latest visit. Food came out at different times. Some of it was inedible. The manager came by and offered a card for free queso, expired. We said, not good enough, so he comped the meal that was inedible. Then the waitress came by and was snippy, talking about, "good for you you got your free food". Oh. My. Gosh. This place is FANTASTIC!!! Went on a little mini-vaca in Daytona (we're from Jacksonville) and stopped in here since my boyfriend loves scratch kitchens (he works at Ruth's Chris). The menu was wonderfully laid out and the prices are very competitive, the most expensive dinner being around $19. The drinks were great I had a special lemonade type of drink and it was perfect. The potato soup was soooooo good! Oh, and the waiter we had was the best. My boyfriend and I like to sit next to each other in the booths when eating out and this waiter slid right in the other side and took our order while chit chatting about everyday stuff. Good evening.im here at cheddars for my second visit in a month. I had to come back for the Santa Fe spinach dip! The first time is was AMAZING! This time not so much.it very watery. Next i had some chicken strips. They were golden brown and delicious before i bit into one and discovered a piece of what looked like animal fur. I wanted to be sure before i made a fuss but it was due for certain.i was offered a meal to replace and declined. However i did request a spinach dip with several croissants. The dip was no problem but somehow the server STILL wanted to charge me $2.99 for the bread... why would i pay for a portion of a replacement meal to remedy the animal fur situation??? Makes zero sense. The server wanted to have back and forth dialog. Not ok. She finally sent the manager over. The manager was very polite and professional. We waited a full year to return thinking we would give it another shot maybe that was cause they just opened. The second time was worst then the first. The service was horrible. Our order was not correct. That was even after waiting for 45 minutes. The people next to us got up and left after waiting for 30 minutes for someone to take their order. Husband and I went for the second time this past Saturday and sat at the bar. The restaurant gets 3 stars for the food and drinks and the prices are great. The bar staff is terrible. They were busy but it was a Saturday night. We were pretty much ignored the entire evening and they staff was not friendly or apolagetic. The icing on the cake was the end of our dinner, which was cut short because we were annoyed about the service. We had to pull our receipt out of the cup they put in front of us and put our card on the corner because we were ignored for 15 minutes. Then we noticed they forgot to put 2 drinks on and before we could say anything about it the bar tender took the card and answered the phone and instead of putting them on a brief hold started to take an order. When she was done on the phone, she said something about the bill being hire than what we had on the receipt and I said "well we tried to say something but we were ignored". The bartender copped a little attitude said "well were busy we try our best". Ugh! I sat there for 15 minutes with an empty drink while I head her talk to the other person stocking the bar fridge about how she was going to a party that night and she could still make it to work in the morning. Cheddar's is a very high quality and class restaurant the service is great I always get my food fast I recommend the chicken it has a nice buttermilk flavor the breading is very tender and easily crunched. The ribs are amazing also they are covered in a nice barbecue that tenderize it and makes it fall off the bone. The overall vibes are amazing and very home like. Sad to report that a visit here consisted of a cold loaded potato and seriously raw steak. I like MR but this steak had about 1/16 inch sear and was not cooked at all, even our server was slightly horrified. The house salad was generous in proportion but the overall experience dimmed that aspect of the meal. I enjoyed Cheddars late last night. I had the super yummy Wisconsin Cheese Bites they are seriously tasty. For my entree I had the spasagna which was a mix between spaghetti and lasagna. I loved that I could order without meat since I'm vegetarian. The only thing I didn't like was the garlic bread it's identical to the frozen kind you buy from the grocery store not so fresh. If the food you want will stand the time to drive home, then just order to go.... if you LOVE the fried cheesy meaty sweet heaven of goodness Monte Cristo (as I do) then you're stuck eating in the restaurant. Bar drinks, including bottled beer takes longer than getting your appetizer... service is s l o w and ehhhhhh. After 3 visits I can say the service level is, well, consistent. Unlike other restaurants no manager or who ever stopped by to ask how our meal was.... however, the waitstaff didnt really either... kinda clueless perhaps? I dunno. Reason for the 5 stars is THE FOOD. Monte Cristo with raspberry is THE BOMB. Chocolate cake (forget the ice cream, it's not necessary) is the size of my head and delish. Country fried steak and it's perfect white gravy is a comfort food dream. Go for the food. I was sorely disappointed in this location. We had to wait entirely too long and wait staff was not helpful. Our order was incorrect and when addressed they did not offer to correct it. Bartender didn't have anyone sitting at the bar, but still could not manage to get us our beer. Manager barely apologized and comped just the beer. Also, the kitchen ran out of ribs at 1:30pm. Great atmosphere. Nice staff. But my complaint lies with the portions. We are vegetarians ...so lacking a combo meal to suit our needs, we had to order sides. The "side" of Mac and cheese was a joke for the price. A small monkey dish is not worth the price. It was great tasting but way too small for the price.
