An employee tried to apologize but, fell short of that by giving me a lame excuse. This was my second visit to Cheddar's and just as bad as the first on in Dallas, Texas back in 2001. Great food, great service in a beautiful, upscale interior. This was our first visit to this location but it will not be our last. Most of our food was excellent -- especially the gargantuan helping of handmade crispy onion rings, the awesome monte christo sandwich and a great burger! Accompanied by shaker margaritas, it was a great meal made even better by our server, Emily. Two items could use some improvement. Red beans and rice are way too sweet, way too hot and oddly flavored. I lived in New Orleans for 12 years and I can tell you these are nothing like the real mccoy. Also, the "loaded baked potato" didn't seem very loaded. Melted cheese on top, nothing visible inside although it tasted pretty good. One thing we really loved is the $1.49 desserts served in a small glass. We both chose the chocolate trifle and they were delicious -- just the right size to top off a filling meal. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and it did take a little while to come out, not even that long actually maybe 15 minutes? But I work in the restaurant industry so I completely understand things happen, there could have been a mix up no big deal. The manager even came out to apologize about the wait, that was appreciated, shortly after all of our food arrived. Our server was great too, very very sweet. After a 10 hr auto trip to Daytona, we were looking forward to a good meal at Cheddars. We elected to sit at the bar. We were not greeted immediately and when we were we chose to look at the menu. No drink order taken, no napkins or eating utensils. Two more customers sat at the bar and were served while we waited. We were ready to leave and go to Chilis. Finally got drinks then had to wait again to order. I ordered the hamburger with everything except pickles plus cheese. My husband ordered the burger with lettuce tomato mayo and mustard. Our order came out quickly but food was warm not hot and my hamburger only had cheese nothing else. After eating it took a long time to get our check. NEVER had bad food at Cheddars ever! I've been to several locations from Iowa to Missouri and now in Florida, and this location in Daytona is no exception. Delicious food once again! I've had a variety of different meals each time. My go-to is usually the crispy chicken salad with the amazing honey mustard dressing. This time I had the citrus miso salmon, and it did not disappoint. Perfect! No complaints about the service either. Our server was friendly and attentive. When our food was brought out, they forgot a side salad. We simply pointed it out and it was brought out right away. Will definitely return to Cheddars no matter where I am. read more

It felt like your typical no-one-knows-what-they-want restaurant option. Where the menu is generic salads and grilled chicken, etc. Nothing wrong with that, just not very exciting. My issue was with what I ordered. I got the white fish blackened with rice, baked potato, and broccoli. While the sides were good, the fish was literally the consistency of rubber. But there were a lot of people and that's usually a family requirement for my parents. After waiting for a table, which wasn't really long considering the amount of people. We were seated at a booth and I have to say the place is beautifully designed with plenty of space. Overall the meal was delicious from the honey butter croissants to the potato soap to the entrees with steak and shrimp. The meals were large enough to share among a Hispanic family. Great pricing! This place is great. It's like upscale comfort food. I had the New Orleans pasta and it was delicious!! Shrimp, chicken and sausage over penne with a spicy sauce. Large portion with a side of garlic bread for just over $10. My boyfriend had the half rack with chicken tenders, Mac n cheese and fries. He ordered two large liquor drinks and I had water. And we split the queso appetizer. The bill was about $45. Considering how strong the drinks were, I think that's pretty good. The ambiance is nice and chill. Went there last week with a group of friends last Sunday. Had a 30 minute wait, not too bad for dinner time. Menu had a lot of options, the prices seemed reasonable. Ordered the nachos, they were okay, nothing special. One in our party had the Asian Chicken Salad- now that looked pretty good and healthy too. That'd be my choice if I ever go back. The food there was along the lines of Applebee's or Chilli's. Service was efficient. I guess for someone that just doesn't want to cook but is okay settling for an inexpensive so-so meal, well then this place is for you. We found Cheddar's, which I hadn't heard of until I read somewhere that we would be getting one in Jacksonville (my hometown) so I decided to get ahead of the game and go ahead and try it. We came in about 5:30 and were sat right away. Linda was our server and she was super nice and helpful. She was also very familiar with the menu, which I love. We ordered the spinach dip, which was super creamy and had a little kick to it. I do wish we were given more chips though. We also ordered margaritas and long islands, both inexpensive and tasty. We love this chain restaurant so much. We had the honey buttered croissants upon ordering our drinks, and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful they were. I wanted an onion rings appetizer, but they were not available on the reduced menu. We ordered baby back ribs, and they were so delicious. We also ordered a top sirloin steak, medium, but it was a little overcooked. Our waitress was kind and friendly. We were seated right away but in the bar area which was a bit loud and given menus. We sat there for over 10 minutes but no one came to our table. There were two staff behind the bar and a waiter and waitress wandering about between the other 3 customers in the bar. A couple seated at the bar received their food quickly. We decided it was not worth our time to sit there with no service. We were there one other time and it was fine and the food was good. Doubt we will go back - the girl at the front made a point of saying thank you, until she looked at where we had been sitting and realized the menus were still on the table.
