This restaurant gets five stars from me for five separate visits. One star for each visit. Five out of five. No, just kidding. They get 25 stars. Perfect job five times in a row. Been meaning to review, but just now getting to it. All my trips were lunch. Today four of us ordered shrimp,a burger, an awesome looking chicken salad, and country fried steak. Everybody today was very pleased. The burger looked great. The shrimp meal did not quite look like it would be enough for me, but I didn't order it. I ordered the country fried steak. The menu had already selected the side items as mashed potatoes and green beans. I did complain a little to my friends that they should allow customers their choice of sides rather than pre select them, but with mashed potatoes and green beans,I decided I wouldn't have it any other way if given the choice. The waiter made up for this even without me mentioning it and asked me what sides I would like with it! I said, so I do get a choice, and he said they offer to do whatever you like. That's customer service in my book, but I ordered mine just the way it was, and it was good. We worked outside today and he kept those drinks coming. I do appreciate that!! So if I really like something, it's very likely that I'll order it again. I've had the Philly cheesesteak twice. This I would recommend because it was so good, it's hard to try something different. You kind of get stuck ordering the same thing again and again. If you just want a sample appetizer for lunch instead of sandwich or meal, or a sampler to share amongst friends either with a meal or just for friends to snack and drink beer, the appetizer sampler is definitely the way to go. Just pick 3 of the 4: these awesome nacho things with meat, cheese, and peppers( kind of like tostados)( you get 3 or 4) of these, 3 or 4 chicken tenders ( and these aren't snack size, no skimping), 3 or 4 mozzarella sticks with sauce, and loaded potato sticks. I've ordered this without the potato sticks twice for lunch and couldn't finish either time. BTW, I did finish my CF steak today and it was just the right amount. We visited Cheddars with our young boys in the early afternoon when it first opened to avoid the crowds. We had amazing service and enjoyed the atmosphere. We started with the Cheese Fries and they were amazing! As good as Outbacks and that saying a lot! The burgers were less than desirable but the boys had the broccoli casserole as side and it was very creamy and tasty! We also had the spasagna which was delicious but could have used a little more sauce! The homemade cookie in little skillet was one rich and satisfying desert for sharing! Made fresh and you could tell! The second visit we tried the chips and salsa with cheese dip and it was exceptional the chips were fresh, thin and not greasy and the salsa and cheese dip were both very good. My sons split a Chicken Pot Pie which was as good as scratch and obviously made to order. I had the catfish and it was not the Southern fried dish I am accustomed to in this area. Rubbery! But the slaw redeemed the catfish! Very yummy! On both occasions we found the service to be fantastic and attentive. They are definitely staffed for efficiency. They were utilizing runners so your food arrived hot and tables were cleared quickly for good turn-over. Don't expect a quick meal; many of the items are made to order and require longer cook times but overall the wait is worth the value! read more

Four stars because the interior was pretty and I enjoyed the fish tank. Seats were comfortable. The atmosphere was a little too loud but I went around lunchtime on a Saturday. Not five stars because the food was underwhelming and substantially average; however, I ordered the Monte Cristo with Mac n cheese and split an appetizer with a friend and spent $16, after tax and tip. So in the best way possible, you get that you pay for in terms of dining out more often than not. The food was sub par. I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger and the burger was a frozen patty. And the bun was greasy like it was soaked before the meat was put on it. I asked for the soup of the day and the server responded with "chili". THIS WASN'T CHILI! First it didn't have beans in it and it tasted like ragu. It was like spaghetti sauce. My partner ordered the chicken pot pie... which to say it was bad was an understatement. It had no seasoning what so ever and tasted like flour-y milk. We in total had 3 bites of it. So I asked the lady why I haven't been sat. She says because you're a party of 7. I told her no I am a party of 2. You scratched out 7 and wrote 2 so you know I'm a party of 2. Four stars for the chicken tenders and sweet tea. Look, Cheddar's is not a fine dining restaurant. And yes, it is super busy. That being said, you need to go here for reasonable priced food and lots of it. They have a superb lunch special (two items for $6, three for $7) which I really want to try, but I wanted to first experience several things on the menu. I am ready to talk about those things now. First, lets get the negative out of the way. If I was reviewing the service, it would be a three. It's not that great right now. However, cut them some slack. It is a madhouse in there and I salute those servers for keeping a smile on their face when confronted with non-stop pandemonium. Second, the burger did not blow my mind. But for only $5, I would say it is pretty good. The Montecristo is an experience, but let me recommend splitting it with someone. You can't eat more than half of that thing without hating yourself or paying a heavy price (or both). It is a ham cheese and turkey sandwich in a batter (think funnel cake) and deep fried, covered in powdered sugar, and served with raspberry preserves. Yes it is as good AND as bad as that sounds. Again, split it with someone. Third, the cheesesteak was merely 'eh'. It wasn't that great. The cheese sticks were also mediocre. Standard frozen fare in that regard. NOW, on to the good stuff. The chicken tenders are AMAZING. They are huge, and for $6 you get four gigantic ones and some fries. You can also get them buffalo style (yes please). They are enough to eat AND take home. So, basically, two meals for six bucks. Man. I kid you not, they are so good. Probably the best chicken tenders I have had anywhere and I have had chicken tenders EVERYWHERE. Also of note, the cheese fries! I get those everywhere too and at cheddar's you get a HUGE portion for only $6. For the cost of a half portion at other places you get enough cheese fries for 6 people (easy). Absolutely tons of cheese and bacon, you cannot go wrong with this appetizer. Honorable mention to the potato skins, which are cooked perfectly but for me rank just below some other places. So, if you go with some friends and you start off with cheese fries and then split a couple chicken tender baskets you will spend next to nothing and be totally full and satisfied. Meh. This was on my bucket list of places to eat before I moved out of Tennessee. I understand that this is a chain. But, it was still on my list. While this place is still a few years old in this area, I haven't heard that great of reviews. But, I see that this place is always busy. Or, at least it's busy every time I pass by. But, I felt a steampunk steamboat fan theme going on. Now, the service -And, this is the word of mouth I got until my own eyes saw it - was not that great. I would have rather sat through a glass blowing class taught by sloths than sit through that again. I mean, it wasn't horrible. But, it could have been way better. The section we sat in only had 4 families, including us. You'd think service would have been catchy. It was as fast as two crabs in a fencing duel. There were people who were seated nearly right after us who didn't get their drink orders until we were nearly done with our meal. Some of what we ordered wasn't correct. I get that mistakes happen. I've worked in the food business for years. I will say that the food was portioned well worth what we paid for. It was filling to say the least. However, I want to say a quick rant about the Mac & Cheese. How can you kill the best thing in the world for me? It was as dry as Hilary Clinton's breast milk. (I'll keep it PG) The ribs, I will say, were pretty tender. They fell off the bone. I will say that our waiter was friendly. He does have a good soft spot for first responders, and military. For that, I salute him. Some of his helpers in the area were not so great. The guy who brought the food out was pretty rude. Especially when we flagged him down for a quick request of an order not fulfilled. You just don't go around a professional establishment, nod your head up, and say, "Sup," to a customer - especially a hormonal pregnant woman. (That would be my wife). As the order was finally corrected and was eating, the unthinkable happened. A dang roach (YES AN ADULT ROACH) decided to bless us with his presence by walking across the ledge of my sister's booth seat. I quietly told my sister to get up so she wouldn't freak out and requested a manager. Instead of the manager apologizing and take our check for credit he came out smiling and justified why they had roaches, which was because they sprayed the day before.... He went on to say that he cares about his reviews and all restaurants have roaches and what should he do about this incident? Asked if we could get soup instead of salad got told no. Ordered the honey crossant at $2.49 for 3. Since closing the one on Winchester, this one now stays pretty crowded with a lot of unsavory people. (I'm guessing the crowd that used to frequent the Winchester location) So now I pretty much order To-Go. I tried the philly cheese steak this go 'round because they didn't have a philly chicken on the menu but when I picked up my order the bartender told me that they will substitute steak for chicken if I asked.
