We had a very enjoyable evening here! It was extremely busy and we had a movie to catch so we sat at a high top at the bar. The server came right over and took our drink order. He was extremely helpful and was patient with me when I had questions about menu items. I was deciding between tilapia and the Hawaiian salad. The food came out fast considering how many people were in the restaurant. My s/o's pasta was amazing! I ordered tilapia. The mango salsa was great but the fish itself was definitely missing flavor. I asked for some kind of sauce but the young man I asked looked like he couldn't be more confused. Oh well! I wish I had ordered the salad. Anyway, maybe next time! We will definitely be back. Came here for my birthday this year. Bad idea! I ordered the steak (medium rare) and shrimp. We got our food and my friends order came out wrong and my steak was burnt. I ask them if I could get another steak. 3 minutes later my plate came back. They must think I'm dumb because all they did was flip it over and hand me back the same plate. Needless to say the food was cold. Oh and they gave my friend chicken when she ordered fish. She waited 5 extra minutes (after I got my plate for the second time) to eat. Nice service. Good food for the price. I don't know why cheddars have low ratings most of the time. My bf and I love going to cheddars bc of its decent pricing and he can eat a lot! I usually don't care for chicken strips as I usually love beef and pork! But I decided I'll try something else today instead of my reg burger or ribs. Omg new fav food here! My bf and I shared the chicken strips appetizer and as I finished the last piece as my bf was so nice to let me have. I wished I ordered the dinner portion. It's so good with buffalo sauce too! It's a really good restaurant to go to for a sit-down experience without spending too much money. The dishes are all very fairly priced and pretty good quality. This was the worst experience we have ever had at Cheddars. We got there about 1:30 Sunday afternoon. We had a short wait before we were seated, so far. I problem. The server came by and said she'd be right back to take our drink orders. But then we didn't see her again for a long time. When she came back we went ahead and ordered food since we were ready. It seemed like it took a bit longer than usual to get the foods but that wasn't a problem. What was a problem was the food wasn't very hot at all. The dressing I asked for when I ordered didn't come out. My fries were room temp. My kid's Mac and cheese was dry and tasted old, like it was made yesterday and not fresh. There was a small spill in the table and we asked for napkins. Our server was see a couple time at other tables but never came back to ours, so I got them myself. What really disappointed me was my glass was empty, for a long time. Long enough I started sucking ice because I didn't have anything to drink. It was about then we abandoned the idea of desert and just wanted to leave. Our server was always nice and polite; she just didn't come by that often. This place is awesome! It's hard not to order the rack of ribs each time I walk in the doors! A great place to dine frequently, as they have so many options; great array of salads, fish dishes, burgers, steaks etc The sides are great, especially the sweet potato and broccoli casseroles. We had a lovely lunch at Cheddars. We were seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food. My daughter absolutely loved her meal. I enjoyed the fish and fries. Food was solid, the Cajun Pasta was a bit less spicy than it could be but overall good. They also have recently started bringing croissants to everyone at our table. Reason for only four stars was their host Sidney. We waited at the door for several minutes before she came from the kitchen (with her mask around her neck no less!) and saw us at the front, but stopped to talk to her servers friends before coming to seat us, where she was blunt and unwelcoming. The price range for the food is decent. The place isn't dirty and people always seem to be here. However, I do not like the fact that they have no nutritional information for anything so if watching your weight be smart about the choices first hand. I have been here a handful of times. Each time I decide to go, I get slow service- from getting a table to ordering my food to getting refills on something as simple as water! Last night our waitress was rude practically throwing our to-go boxes on the table. Once before my boyfriend complained his soda was flat and they took forever to bring him a new drink. (I give the star, only for the waiter who served us) I went with a group so I offered no comment when a few in the group picked this place. It was a Sunday 1130 am, there was not a wait so I figured no harm done. (I believe General Custer thought this before his last battle) I was hesitant to come back here. It was my 2nd time to come here because 10 years ago I ordered one of those 10$+ salads and received a bowl of iceberg lettuce with some gristle fried chicken sprinkled with some of those pretentious nuts, and fashionable cranberry things. After several yawns while looking at the menu, I decided to play it safe. Order a cheese burger. Keep expectations low and neutral. First, the people at the table ordered fried cheese pieces. The plate arrived with about 10-12 pieces hidden by 2 "bowls" of ranch and ketchup tasting tomato sauce. The "garnish" for these was about a tablespoon of salt! About 20 minutes pass..finally plates arrive. One had chickened fried steak. Again, doused in salt and drowned by a lot of empty batter. Batter to meat ratio was about 50%-50%. This was sided with military green colored beans fresh from a can, again garnished with a healthy covering of salt. On the plate next to the fried batter were soggy french fries soaking up the grocery store-package-gravy mix. And yes! Topped with a coating of salt garnish! Another plate on the table had a yellowish looking piece of "menu named white fish" which I trust was either muddy creek raised perch or perhaps alligator gar. Yes it did smell fishy..The yellow fish sided well with the "military" green beans fresh from a can. To finish the nice color palate of the serving was a bowl of chalky and chewy rice. I think the recipe was found on the envelope of grocery store package rice mix.( It was probably found next to the gravy package mix.) Plate # 3 is named spaglanasa or lasagetti or something. The name was probably coined by those two geeks in the tv commercial who hang around and lurk at that national drive-thru chain. The plate has a pile of tomato sauce, covering a pile of triple cooked spaghetti with cheese. It looked horrific! It resembled something you would see on the floor of a frat house the day after a 20 keg cheap beer bash. Plate #4 is a kid's plate. Like the earlier described chickened steak plate, is a pile of hand-picked-off batter next to a pile of gristle chicken pieces. (from the same chicken from my iceberg salad of 10 years ago.) I could go on...but its nearly lunch time here and i will need some time to recover from these memories of disgust before i go eat lunch. The "burger". It was bottomed with a 1/4" thick soggy sponge. No sir ree! No buns to be found here. So to compensate for this, I turned the sandwich over after removing the bottom bun. A few minutes later, the same happened to the formerly top bun but is was worsened with the covering of some kind of sweet mayonnaise. The meat patty looked pretty good a first, until chewing on the pieces of gristle-rubber-ball somethings. And at least it was flavorless! (The kitchen's salter must have been on break while this one was made.) But wait...you cant make this stuff up. It goes on. Probably the absolute worst were the pickles. They were the awful kind. The worst I could imagine. They were those sweet pickles. After taking them off the meat, and contemplating the best was to destroy them, I found the meat was now tainted by them. Next we have cheese whiz? It is sprinkled by some shreds of iceberg lettuce, which are extremely wilted and translucent in color...wait for it... Yes! They a from my iceberg salad of 10 years ago! The rest is topped off with a decent tomato slice, and some of those onions, you know the cheap ones, the kind which leave the taste in your mouth for a week? So what do we learn here? How to destroy the concept of a hamburger? How one needs to choose better ingredients for a hamburger? How to make one hesitate for a few years to come each time they order a hamburger someplace else? Or that some restaurants should be licensed to make hamburgers? Well, I say no! What we learn is the importance of the order of construction of a hamburger. Everything has a proper stacking order. And never, never ever place the pickle on top of the meat. You will be stuck with pickled-tainted meat. You should place them on top of the leaves of lettuce (whoops, we only have lettuce shreds here) so if you have to remove them, your burger was protected by the lettuce and you can discard it too. Mr. cook person at Cheddars, give it up with this dish. Go to McD and learn how it should be done. And lastly, the other thing we learn here is that if I was crawling thru a desert, and i needed immediate nourishment, before my last breath, and I saw the College Station Cheddars on the horizon...I would find a way to pull myself up to run the other way. read more

I love cheddars! I always get the same fish. The citrus miso salmon with broccoli. It never disappoints. However I decided to step out of my comfort zone slightly and try the white fish instead. .. and it was Amazing!!! I'm so glad I did. It may even be better! Cheddars is the best place ever to eat. I work at the cheddars in the colony and got my parents obsessed with Cheddars. My sister just graduated Texas A&M and we were hungry so decided to eat here. This place was busy but surprisingly we didn't have to wait to get a seat. I got the ribs with tenders and I ate the whole thing. The food here is really good and they make it fast. The inside is really nice because they huge fans that look like paddles. This is by far the neatest Cheddars I have ever seen. read more

Have gone to this restaurant for years and have been able to say they had great food and fairly good service. As the years go on, and as the staff gets younger, the restaurant quality has decreased. Ex: hearing servers cussing and bad mouthing other patrons and staff bunching up at a table like its a high school lunch break. I have had hair in my food in my last TWO visits and thought I was going to have to call corporate to get the matter resolved. At my last and I do mean last visit I saw a server wipe the snot from his nose with his hand and proceeded to pick up a diners cup to refill it. Don't bother talking to management...the female I spoke with got defensive and rude when I decided to make a complaint. The only professional people I've seen is one male manager and the people who clean the tables. Wouldn't advise my worst enemy to eat here. read more

I always go to Cheddars during my visits to town. I am always satisfied, by the quality and quantity of food you get here. Cheddars is one of my favorite restaurants, and can't wait till the one in San Antonio opens. I see Greg D enjoys talking about other peoples reviews. Which I don't think is the concept of Yelp. Greg complains about the type of chain food that Cheddar's is, but the BCS area is plague with chain restaurants so there is no other choice. But, I would like to think that Cheddars is a step above the other guys. I enjoy the chicken strips with a side of broccoli and rice casserole. The onion rings go good with anything on the menu. We called from other side of parking lot to make reservation for 9 people. They said they do not take phone reservations but it should only be 10-15 minutes. We walked in door and they said 40 minutes. There was a group of 10 and group of 12 in front of us. The host group; 3-4 associates, sat 12 groups who came in after us. We sat for well over an hour waiting. Several of those groups were 5-6 people. When asked how much longer and they said we were the "next big party and they were only sitting small groups. They do not like moving tables together". We walked out and are already being sat at olive garden in the same parking lot who accommodated our large group quickly after we explained the lack of service we received. Poor service does not even begin to explain what should have been a late family Christmas dinner. read more

Horrible place. There service is terrible and they can't even cook a steak properly. I waited a long time for the food to arrive and the sides were cold and the steak was overdone. I sent it back and they refused to bring new sides and when they brought the new steak out it was practically raw. Started out great the croissants with butter are fantastic. Then we got to the main course and I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon extra crispy should have been easy. When the mail arrived the bacon was raw and so I asked them to make the bacon extra crispy. So they took my plate and when they returned was the same hamburger just crispy bacon and cold french fries. I asked them to bring me some fresh french fries since mine were cold now because of having their mistake on the bacon. They brought me out some new french fries and wanted me to push the french fries they were cold off my plate onto their platter because they have a policy making sure to return the food that they're replacing. I am not a child they do not need to treat me like one by making sure they're not giving me any extra french fries. Their policy should be when you have to send some thing back everything on the plate needs to be refreshed and nice and hot just like it would have been if they would have gotten it right the first time. read more

We were there Thursday 8/12 around 3pm and the place was empty. The hostess was very uncooperative, she brought us to a booth table, we asked to be moved from a booth to a table and she acted like it was the end of world. Finally she agreed to put us in the bar area. Again the place had a max of 10 customers. The server was absolutely the worse we have ever had. He didn't bother to visit our table and as he walked by on several occasions we had to stop him to ask to take our order, refill our drinks, asked for ketchup which we never received. He would disappear for 15 minutes at a time. He didn't bring out items we ordered so he had to go back to the kitchen, another 10 minute wait. The food was ok but not like it used to be. The staff were all kids never saw 1 mature adult working. I've never felt the need to leave a review on any restaurant but I would never recommend this place nor advise anyone to visit it. read more

I can definitely see why some folks have problems with Cheddars. But, frankly, I love it. The quality of their dishes is a perfect match with the prices. The drinks are 100% fresh made, as are the desserts, and they have about 6 or 7 entrees that I love. My mother and I always get their coffee, and its also awesome. Try the baked spasagna, the shepherds pie, the chicken tenders (even in buffalo or ragin cajun sauce), the dijon chicken and mushrooms, and even their tilapia, and I HATE fish. Their side salads are great, try the honey lime dressing. I can't speak to their desserts but the few I've had are also great. I just find this place to be such a bargain if your careful on the menu choices. read more

As one of the first places in its development area, this place can get really crowded which only tells you it's popular. Cheddar's is not as expensive as other restaurants and has large servings. I give it two $$ assuming you get drinks or appetizers + tip. There is outdoor seating although I never seen it in use though. read more

Wow, I read some reviews and wasn't sure what to expect. We came in on move in weekend, rain pouring down and quoted a 35 min wait! I saw small bar tables available and asked if it was OK to eat there, and it was. We were greeted right away by a our server, Ashley, very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a couple of questions and were ready to order. Our food came out promptly, very surprised on such a busy night, and it was delicious!!
