Cheddars! Oh how I have missed you! I stopped by this cheddars with a coworker of mine after we finished a training in Houston. Nice, clean location and if you sit at the bar you can order much sooner than if you sit in the restaurant. Prices are still great and the portions are great as well. I ordered the shrimp and steak meal. It came with two sides for around $14. Can't beat it. My meat was cooked just right, as were my shrimp. My broccoli cheese casserole made my tummy smile. My coworker and I split an order of onion rings and the onion rings really could have fed four people. The stack was huge! Our server was polite and served us quickly. Great service but large portions of food. This dim light restaurant has plenty of room for booths and tables. Of course during the weekends, this place is packed with various families and college students. The wait time for a table can extend from a few minute to 15 minutes at least. Besides the dim ambiance, there are several waiters and waitress. They are constantly rushing to various tables and taking orders. Don't bother asking for downsizing a portion. Since I don't eat a normal restaurant portion, I usually ask for the order to be cut in half. However, this restaurant is not able to do so. Be warned that the Appetizers are the size of a main entree. If you are ordering one, be sure you are in a group of at least 4+. Besides the portion sizes, I never had a problem with the wait staff. No one managed to mess up my orders and are friendly. The menu is a bit shy for pescetarians but there are options for vegetarians. read more

This is one of the few chain restaurants I love. The prices for both food and dranks are reasonably cheap and the portions are big. I always get either the salmon with the same two sides (Mac and cheese and loaded baked potato) or the New Orleans pasta. We came on ring day for dinner and surprisingly didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes. Given the current situation I always give a lot of latitude when I do venture out. I understand everyone's operating under challenging conditions. However, that's no excuse for a DIRTY restaurant, being ignored by waitstaff, and bad food. The restrooms were nasty. It was hot and humid inside. Our waiter was polite at first but then when we asked for refills (after our empties sat on the edge of the table for almost 30 mins), he got rude really quickly. The salad plates were left in the table... no big deal if that were all that happened. My food was good (salmon) but my son's grilled chicken was bland and dry, and my friend's steak and ribs were both stringy and dry. "Loaded baked potatoes" were potatoes with butter and cheese only. Not including wait time before getting a table, were there over 90 minutes just because it took so long to get someone to come back and give us the check. read more

After the grueling 15 minutes were up we were whisked away to our table where to our complete disgust and horror we realized the evil roots of this place and their sadistic agenda. The waitress who had previously denied my desperate yet romantic advances separted our group in two. She divided the beloved brotherhood that I had worked so hard to earn my place in. Two groups in solitude, we sat reluctantly enduring the sensation of being treated like filthy mutts. Took another eternity just to pay... we had a gift card and I was paying the remainder in cash. My wife had to physically go and look for her she acted as if we really putting her out using a gift card. The broccoli my wife ordered looked a rotted brown and smelled awful. We sent it back; didn't dare try to eat it. My chicken fried was tough, dry, and rubbery. Baked potato was okay but looked old; the butter had an unpleasant and pebbly consistency, as though curdled. My wife was not pleased with her order at all. Steak was overdone, but everything was taking long enough we didn't bother to ask for another. I doubt it would have been different anyway. Clearly the kitchen here needs some very serious work. The spinach dip tasted like defrosted spinach with a spoon of sour cream. My son and I ordered two different main entrees with chicken. Neither one of us were able to eat a second bite of the meal. Solid restaurant choice for a meal with friends and family. About everything is under $10 and the food comes fast and the restaurant is clean and inviting looking. I went with my parents and we ordered the appetizer sampler, ribs, beer battered shrimp and beer battered fish. Everything was pretty spot on! I'd definitely come back for the chicken tenders- super crispy and juicy, light years better than laynes- and the ribs are so tender they fall off the bone so easily. The barbecue sauce they use is also pretty good. One thing I wouldn't order again is the green beans, they're really sweet for some reason and definitely overcooked. But their mashed potatoes are excellent, definitely from scratch and not over done or anything. read more

There is an old saying, "In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eye man is king". That's what Cheddars reminded me of. I could not believe the crowd at this place. We went for lunch on weekday and it was packed. The tragedy is that the food and service are seriously mediocre. On the other hand, there are very few national chain type restaurants in BCS and that must be the allure. I have eaten at other Cheddars in Dallas and Austin a few years ago and did have a good experience then. I always thought that Cheddars was slightly above the norm for a national chain. I ordered a burger and it was so over salted that I could hardly eat it. The food overall was subpar and they were not having guests follow COVID-19 precautions. Multiple couple's walked in with no mask in sight and were standing around in the waiting room. We dined here twice this past week. The first night, Monday, my mom ordered grilled catfish but was brought salmon. She did not actually get her catfish until everyone else had finished their meals so she ended up taking it home in a box. The manager came over and apologized though and didn't charge us for her meal. Okay...mistakes happen and he handled it well. Today we had lunch there because we were on a time crunch and thought we could be in and out in an hour...like we usually are. Wrong. Understand, this was at 2pm that we were there so there were hardly any diners there at all. Nevertheless, we received our appetizers before our drinks...so that's 20 minutes right there. Then another 20 minutes pass so I asked our server about our food and mentioned that we needed to leave shortly. Another 10 minutes and we finally got our food. Needless to say my son and I had to take ours to-go because we absolutely had to leave no later than 3:15pm...even then I had to ask twice for a box. It is a shame because we have always had excellent service at the Cheddar's in Pflugerville. read more

Cheddars had a customer service fiasco last night. Had to ask multiple times for a simple tea refill. My friend also had to ask multiple times for a soda refill. I realize the server may have been overwhelmed, but please just say so. I'll understand. We'll understand. We'll root for you. I order from here at least 2 times a week for lunch at work. Every time they over charge me. I have worked in the industry before so I know they manually add their tips. So every time I purchase my meal they add on extra tips for themselves. I always looked past it until this time. I ordered a medium well steak which has some pink in the middles not a lot. This is what I received. When I called to speak with the Manager I was placed on the longest hold ever. Finally Micheal came on the line and stated that there was nothing they could do for the overcharge or the wrongly cooked steak. I informed him that is not a way to keep customers coming back he did not seem to care. Generally one of our favorites but had a less than desirable experience. It took a long time to be greeted by the server. The drink order came out wrong, the chips for the spinach dip were cold. The food came out within 20 seconds of the salad(not an exaggeration). The broccoli and cheese casserole looked and tasted old. My wife had a hair in her food. The manager gladly took that entree off the bill. Then, at the end of the meal, my wife was boxing up the salad she didn't get to eat and there was ANOTHER hair in the salad. The onion rings we ordered as an appetizer were also good but in my experience it is hard to mess up onion rings. So again the food was nothing fantastic. The staff however was more than helpful with assisting in finding a food that would not contain any MSG. The first thing I ordered they were worried may contain other preservatives derived from MSG so the manager came out to our table and talked about it. This is one of the places popular for dining by locals. They are located in a cafeteria hub areas. They have parking for customers and the dining rooms are large.
