This family run business is my goto for good fried seafood in Temple. The staff is always ready to serve and gets you what you need. Food is always cooked to order and delivered to your table hot. This is not your fancy candle light restaurant but a clean environment for having dinner with family and friends. Updated menu with same options. I do recommend trying the red beans and rice with your meal choice.

The second trip did not disappoint! The food was just as amazing as it was the first time around. I am slowly working my way through the menu. Of course I had to get my fried fish fillets once more, and I convinced my husband to try the grilled fish (big surprise he enjoyed the fried fish more). He said the grilled fish was a little dry for his taste, but for me, it was perfect perfectly seasoned and cooked well. Their portion sizes remind me of the good old restaurants from my childhood. The portions aren't overwhelming, but there's enough to fill you up. The sides are pretty basic nothing special and I did have to add a little seasoning to my green beans but what can I say? I love spice. Service is fast, friendly, and efficient. They really go out of their way to make sure that you're satisfied this restaurant has quickly become one of my staples.

Combo: shrimp, fish, crab cakes with sides: fries & hush puppies. They didn't have some of the side selections listed on the menu.

Fried fresh, hot, and appetizing! My review is based off a first impression. Don't let the quite basic interior (mostly wood) cause any wrong perceptions. There are a few frames or artwork, with a TV and music for dining entertainment. The unused bar area at the front could use some spirit, but for a Friday night, their dining room was pretty packed. Good indication! Yep, their great fried food hit the spot! We called in for a pick-up order: shrimp, crab cakes, fish, hush puppies, and fries with a side of fried oysters. I was craving those fried oysters. They aren't dinky little pieces either. They serve up some pretty large shrimp too. Of all the fried goodies we ate, I'd definitely have their oysters, shrimp and fish again!

Great food , service and great value. Lunch specials M-F. Such a great price at 9.99 included drinks.

    Fried Pickles, wings, and gizzards.

The batter is perfectly seasoned, and the food is outstanding. I've dined here four times in the last two weeks, and I can confidently say that nothing has disappointed me.

Only thing that was flavourful was the lemon in my water. I got 3 fish and shrimp meal , huspuppies were rubbery. Tasted like they cooked them froze them then reheated it. The shrimp had no flavor, the catfish batter was gritty and had no flavor. The slaw was nothing but mayo and cabbage and the red beans and rice was just dirty rice. The po boy sandwich was put on a hot dog bun and was so small. The fries were unseasoned as well. Very disappointed in this place.

I did not care for the food or service or seating. Others like it, so guess I am the odd ball. Not for me.

Great food and service! I wish the fried green tomatoes were a bit bigger but they were perfection nonetheless.

Food good - needs more seasoning (not talking about salt). But Sam's always good. I'm fr LaPlace, LA where the original is located.

Well that's what happened to me at Lollipop's this evening, and I'm not even mad that I stained one of my favorite shirts while shoveling handfuls of these otherworldly morsels into my greedy pie hole. Their food was so spectacular that it straight up awoke something primal in me. From chicken "lollipops" covered in sweet honey garlic sauce that I would seriously consider bottling to later take home and chug in a dark corner where no one could judge my hedonism, to creamy Mac and Cheese with a tiny kick of spice that makes your taste buds swell in ecstasy, and perfectly seasoned shrimp bursting with flavor, these folks throw down in the kitchen like that is what God put them on this Earth to do. From bite number one I became a ravenous creature whose only objective was "Give me more!" Halfway through this gustatory adventure, I was able to focus on my surroundings long enough to see how my husband was enjoying his little slice of Heaven. That question was quickly answered when I noticed that he was so lost in the absolute bliss, that his beard was covered in some beautiful gift from God that we lovingly referred to as "Cajun queso". He got an open faced chicken poboy that was drenched in this mythic nectar, and he was clearly so overcome by his basic need to devour more, that his hands and mouth were wearing most of it. My son, normally quite verbose and animated in dinner socialization, was so hyper focused on his next bite that he couldn't be bothered to acknowledge either one of us until the finale of the meal. Next time you want to go somewhere and lose yourself in a gluttonous haze of decadence and flavor, do yourself a favor and make your way to Lollipops. Put it this way: On the way home I found a rogue piece of chicken stuck in the recesses of my back teeth with my tongue, and the only thought I could muster was how elated I was to have another taste.

The service was pretty good. The manager came around to check on every table. The place seemed well put together and clean. Though seems kind of short staffed when it gets swamped. It became a nostalgic staple for me, particularly during my college years when I visited El Salvador. However, I must say that there are notable discrepancies between the Pollo Campero locations in El Salvador and the one I recently visited in Killeen, Texas. When comparing the Killeen location to those in California, I noticed distinct differences in both taste and quality. The pricing at this location is quite reasonable, especially considering that an 8-piece chicken meal can comfortably feed 4 to 5 adults. This meal also comes with two sides, which adds to its value. The drink options are diverse, featuring favorites like horchata, mango, Jamaica, and various Pepsi products. Upon entering, I found the establishment to be clean and tidy, which is always a plus. However, I did encounter an issue in the restrooms, which had a strong smell of weed and a non-functional light fixture glowing with a red light. This aspect stood out as somewhat sketchy and detracted from the overall experience. On a more positive note, the customer service was exceptional. The cashier, named Edward, was extremely helpful and caring, making my visit all the more pleasant. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly enhanced my dining experience. In summary, while Pollo Campero continues to evoke fond memories from my childhood, there are areas for improvement at the Killeen location. Nevertheless, the reasonable prices, generous portions, and outstanding customer service are reasons enough to give it a second chance.
