The first time we came, we told the manager that it was our first time and we received great service and incredible food. The second time we came, later that week, we were seated in the back, right next to the kitchen doors. Our server, who was sweet, reeked of cigarettes. We weren't given any silverware or napkins even after being given our appetizer and salads. We returned to Cheddar's tonight for the second time, and our experience was significantly better than our first visit. Despite dining at dinner time on a Saturday night, we were seated almost immediately. Once seated our order was quickly and pleasantly taken and, without exaggeration, our order arrived in less than ten minutes. The salad was reasonably fresh, and it came with a hot, crispy crescent roll. I ordered the salad as part of the Vegetable Platter (soup or salad, and four sides). The corn and baby carrots on the Platter were appropriately hot, however the mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli were little more than room temperature. The broccoli appeared to be the only item on the platter that was fresh, however it all tasted good. I also ordered the Sampler Platter appetizer. The fried cheese curds are one of my favorites (although I think they'd be better with a marinara dipping sauce) and the potato skins were decent, although I'm not a huge fan of the nachos (essentially a taco shell broken in half with melted cheese). My dining partner enjoyed his chicken Alfredo (I didn't taste it, but it was visually appealing), although he commented that the sauce was not a classic Alfredo. First time here with the hubby! Wanted to try different restaurants than normal California regulars. Got a recommendation to go here. Liked ambience and especially the outgoing genuine waiter named Larry. Went with two of his recommendations and was totally satisfied! I had the blackened white fish meal with green beans and coleslaw (both sides just right). The fish was delicious and perfectly cooked!! So good didn't take a picture! Lol. Hubby had the Louisiana Cajun shrimp and chicken pasta. He enjoyed it especially the large size shrimp! Larry was a pleasure to meet and he is what made our visit totally worthwhile. Let me start off by saying that Cheddar's food has never disappointed me. With that being said, I just can't give more than 3 stars for this particular location. I have never felt so unwelcome before. The hostess tried to seat us (only 4 of us) but was told to seat us in the "back section", by the manager. The hostess and manager went back and forth, respectfully, for a moment about where we should sit (it wasn't really busy...3:30pm on a Thursday). When we were being seated, in the back, the waiter told the hostess that he wasn't waiting on us. Apparently he was getting ready to leave. He NEVER acknowledged us, but did continue to wait on his other tables for another 20min. Some girl in a hoodie took our drink order, a random waitress gave us our drinks, the manager took our food order, another random waitress and the manger gave us our food, another random waitress gave us our to go boxes. Really? The only consistency we had was the manager. She was nice but that wasn't her job. A totally different waitress stopped by and struck a very quick but very polite conversation with us. We clearly were a bother to the wait staff. Every time someone came to the table, they told us that they were "sent" to the table...like they wouldn't have done it otherwise. Ugh... All in all, the food was great, as always but the service was not welcoming and quite disappointing. I would still give it another chance since this must have been just one of those days. read more

Hit or Miss I have eaten at Cheddar's several times. The food is good and so are the prices just make sure you avoid it during the really busy time because it is less likely to be a pleasant experience. The wait will be long and the food may come out like the cook rushed it and did not do it properly as was my family's most recent experience there. read more

I came to cheddars on 5/31/15 at 6:30 and was seated right away but the server took 10 minutes to come greet us and to get our drink order . the drinks took another 10minutes to come ,so being frustrated me and my party of 3 adults and 1 child went ahead and ordered . I ordered then lemon chucked with fries ,the other adults ordered a steak with shrimps ,the other adult ordered the club sandwich the child ordered the kid hamburger . now the the food took roughly 1 hour to come out so the serve gave us a free chips and salsa . when the food the came the steak wasn't medium it was well done my chicken was too hard and then kid burger was really hard ....... I'm wa radio host from out of town passing through and this is a bad experience for me and my friends and will be talked about on the air ...... read more

This is the second bad experience I've had at Cheddar's! I used to love this place, but between the staff and the food, I will not be back. The club sandwich was dry (just meat, cheese, and lettuce) and the taste was just off. I am not a picky person, and I had a hard time finishing it. The seat was nasty and sticky. Good food but it's pretty heavily seasoned and full of butter. So don't go there expecting something on the lighter side. This stuff is heavy, but it's good cookin! I just couldn't finish it all because it was so rich =) Staff are incredible. I can't even tell you how great they are because words don't exist that properly outline the kind of praise they deserve. Our food was good. Ihad the salmon with bourbon demi glaze it was delicious. My experience had to do with service and cleanliness. Service was slow. The girl that waited on us was a sweet girl, brought what we asked for but did nothing that we didnt request She did not refill drinks unless we flagged her down and requested on. She did not take one plate, dish, glass, etc off the table when we were done. She brought our chevk while we were still eating. My kids yell grandpa promised us desert and we didnt even order it. We were able to order our deserts. Then we waited. And waited , and waited some more. I finally had to ask a manager to chevk on our deserts. I also asked him if it would have killed someone to vlear the dirty dishes. I want to look at dirty dishes I would have eaten at home. The restraunt was dirty. When we sat down at our table there were crumbs still from the last party. Every table around us had dirty dishes on them. No one cleaned them after the guests left. Very disappointed. Every time I've said I'll quit coming to this place I always end up coming back. I have no control of this, however; my grandbaby loves their queso dip, so we come for her. This place is terrible. The food is okay, but the service is ghastly. The last few times we've been there, they've messed up our orders. I had to take my plate out because I didn't get served until all my family had completed their meals. They were glad to stay with me while I ate, but I had things to do. I got it free though after my daughter raised hell with the manager. She also had to return her coke 4 times because it tasted peculiar. I tried it and it tasted like an off brand, like Chek or Big K. Nasty stuff. There just way too many places out there that have this kind of menu and are more attentive and prompt. If I could not give this restaurant any stars I would. The service was terrible. Chips were greasy and food mediocre. We didn't get our WATER until after we got an appetizer and had to constantly ask the waiter for a drink that never came. My wife and I worked late, and wanted to skip making a dinner at home, so we thought we would try this location. My wife is a steak fanatic, and so she ordered the steak and shrimp. I prefer homestyle so ordered the chicken pot pie. Both meals were amazing. My wife likes her steak medium rare, and it was perfect. The chicken pot pie was full of veggies and chicken, and tasted amazing!! The service was excellent, and we never wanted for either of our glasses to be filled, it just happened. Sat at the bar while waiting to be seated and the young lady at the bar just came and stood in front of my husband face and said absolutely nothing, no how can I help u, what would u like to drink nothing. Then once we got seated it took for ever to get the food about an hour. The food was absolutely terrible. Food was cold when they brought it out. It seems this restaurant is on a downward spiral and not improving in any way. The server was great but the kitchen staff is so inconsistent with there food. They ended up remaking or plates which in turn took forever that we just got it put in Togo boxes. I was so excited for my husband to try this restaurant as I'd previously visited a location in another state with my son. This was the worst experience in my history of restaurant experiences. We were seated right away, however, it took 20 mins to get drinks and silverware. Asked for an appetizer with no bacon and received bacon anyway. It was 20 mins before plates and utensils were brought while food sat getting cold. The beverage I purchased from the bar had an unknown substance on the rim after the 20 min wait. Called twice for a manager which took 15 mins. The waitress had an excuse for every issue. When the so-called manager arrived, he did not want to identify himself as the/a manager but offered to comp meal. At this point, we just left the establishment. A huge waste of an hour!! I love this restaurant. My favorite in Augusta. I only know one entree because I get the same thing every time. I get the steak and chicken tenders. They have been amazing every time I have had them. For the appetizer we get the chips and salsa and add the ground beef queso dip. Absolutely delicious. And its a huge portion so if you're not careful you may not be able to eat all your food. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody. I was ecstatic to find out that there is also one in Denver since I will be moving there this week. read more

Sat down and had to wait 10 minutes before even being acknowledged and even then, it was only to be told he would be right back with menus and take our drink order which then took another 10 minutes. Appetizers came out fairly quick but then had to wait forever to get our meals. As we sat and observed our surrounding almost every table was receiving just as bad service as we were. A side of edamame with some inexplicable soy sauce and some seasoning (on the side) that even the manager couldn't explain. A pear salad with grey pears and nothing but a pile of frisee and 2 cherry tomatoes? Really? Even the manager conceded that they were taking it off the menu - then why didn't they tell me to avoid it? I'm not a billy goat. The whole meal was disjointed and unsatisfying. My sister won't even consider going back here because of the digestive issues she suffers every time. My first time there and I had no such issue but I take issue with the portion sizes. Totally disproportionate to the price and quality. My cousin was particularly disappointment when she was told the franchise no longer sold nachos (I'm not sure that's accurate) and what she settled with was bland. My food was decent (not over seasoned), however, too pricey for what barely average food. The service was lackluster; the waitress seemed dazed and confused and someone kept calling her on the business phone. Not a relaxing, enjoyable experience. The staff was really nice and the service was quick. The food was good, too. What I didn't like was that while we were eating, the waitress was sweeping the booth that was next to ours, which I didn't like. When you sweep, you're making all kinds of dirt particles fly up in the air and spread...not good when you're eating. I had salmon with rice which was really tasty, and son had a chicken bowl with rice and beans, which he loved. So, I called today and spoke with manager Eric to let him know a business partner and I were going to stop by and due to my last two horrible visits he had promised me a discount. I went from a 1 time a week customer to zero. On one hand, I have a ridiculously strong craving for their fish tacos once in a blue moon - I've yet to find anyone who does them better, or at least close enough to the Cheddar's way to scratch the itch when it hits. The appetizer came out 2 mins before the food, not to mention it was about a 30 minute wait for the appetizer. I'm assuming it was the waiter because everyone else around us food was coming out quickly. We order the trio appetizer, and they were out of spinach dip. I've had cheddars numerous times before in savannah. This place definitely wasn't as good. We waited for almost an hour for a table which honestly wasn't horrible for a Saturday night. Was my first time to a Cheddar's. I was seated quickly, the server was nice. The sandwich I ordered came out with avocado slices that were hard as a rock, no joke I couldn't cut them with my fork. I sent back the sandwich and the 2nd sandwich had the same issue. I sent it back too and asked for my bill. They then asked me to pay full price for my food even though I had sent back the food 2 times and only ate the side and a few bites off the sandwich (which it how I discovered the unripe produce). I was famished I had to eat something. After arguing several times with my server, she said they'd reduce my bill. I had to ask to speak with the manager directly to get it resolved.
