Very dissipointed with everything. First we waited for our drinks for 20 minutes then the food took another hour. Our food was terrable, I got the Philly cheese steak and my wife got the Cajun pasta. Both of our plates tasted like someone had dumped salt all over it. Barely edible. Our waiter was extremely rude not only to us but everyone else sitting in his area. We waited on our check for about 30 minutes (after we were done eating) just sitting there. once we got the check prices were wrong and way over what the menu said. After waiting again for the waiter to come around we told him about the pricing issue. He came back about 15 minutes later saying it was all doubled for some reason. After almost 3 hours of being there with terrible food and rude waiters we finally got to leave and continue on with our day. Worst dining experiance either of us had ever had. read more

We have always been pleased with Cheddar's. The food is always consistent and the prices are reasonable. We were disappointed today however. We came at 4:40pm, hoping to beat the crowd. The lobby was full when we walked in and we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. As I looked around from where I was standing, I could see 13 open tables. When we were finally seated, I again could see that many more tables open. While dining, we heard a manager yelling at an employee. We also heard another employee cursing. Honestly, won't go back unless someone else I'm with wants to. This is the second time both the food and service were subpar. Took almost 8 minutes before my drink order was taken, then a few more for him to come back and take my food order. The potatoes in the potato soup were barely cooked and strained then out. I ordered a medium rare sirloin, and it was well done, not a drop of pink. I tried to track the waiter down, but I couldn't find him for about 10 minutes. The decor is great and the restaurant itself is very nice, but if you have poor wait staff, you won't stay in business. They refuse to carry tea pitchers instead running back and for with single cups. This takes too much time and is not environmentally friendly. Lastly, there aren't enough staff for peak dining times. I have to admit I never eat at chain restaurants, but we received a gift card for Christmas for Cheddars and we wanted to use it yesterday. From the moment we arrived, I was completely disappointed and reassured on why I don't visit chains. The hostess was rude and as I was giving her my name to be added to the list, an older couple walked up to the podium, interrupted me to ask how long the wait was, and then the hostess proceeded to add their name before mine. After we were sat at our table, it was a good 15 minutes before our server came to the table, and without a greeting, just said "Do you know what you want?". We ordered an appetizer, but my boyfriends salad came before the app did. Then the app came which was so full of msg, I had a full on migraine hit me before we even got our bill. When my salmon dinner arrived, I went to take a bite and it was so cold, I put my fork in the middle of the fish and it was completely raw! I showed the server who just snatched the plate, without apology or any words other than, "it's not cooked" and scurried off. She never came back to tell me what was happening. 25 minutes later, my boyfriends meal was completely eaten and the plate just sat there in front of him, the manager came over to tell me they were recooking mine. He was completely rude and told me that he was taking it off my bill. At this point, an hour and half after we arrived at the restaurant, I still had not eaten. My food finally arrived, sans the broccoli I ordered, and the waitress just sat it down and said "cut into it before I walk away to make sure its cooked this time." I did and asked where my broccoli was, and she said "they are microwaving it right now." She brought my broccoli about 5 minutes later, and without asking how my meal was, left the check and said to pay her. The manager never checked back and no apologies were ever given. He did comp both of our meals, so I appreciated that. We did want to order desert to take home, in order to use up the money on the gift card, so I once again had to get my waitresses attention and she never checked on us the entire visit. Two hours into our time here at this point. We ordered a hot fudge cake with vanilla ice cream and an apple crisp with ice cream. She immediately redid the bill and charged the card the full amount for the deserts. But, when the deserts arrived, she informed us that the freezer was broken and there was no ice cream with our deserts. She also said she put "the hot fudge on my cake" which is already part of the desert, but when I got home, she had not put it on there. I asked if we were paying full price for the desert even though it was not including part of the description, and she said yes. I am not one to complain or even write reviews, as this is my first one, but the service and the quality of food was so terrible, I felt the need to share my experience. I waited tables for over 8 years and I understand the nature of the service industry. Tips are earned, not just automatically assumed they will be given. This was truly one of the absolute worst experiences I have ever had in any restaurant and I feel others should know. A very family-friendly environment with neat decor. It has a homey feel, enormous decorative ceiling fans, and, as any kid who's been there will tell you, a gorgeous fish tank. I went at 3:00 for a late, late lunch and the service was incredibly slow, but amiable. The menu has a little something for everybody, but is heavy on the floor fried and cheesy options. Still, it's a good place to take a large group and the prices are reasonable. My food arrived warm rather than hot, but you get a good amount of bang for your buck in terms of portion size. Was always my go to spot. The last 2 times it's been a mess. Really hate to even say that but it's went way downhill. Wait times are awful no matter how busy. Food, service. The entire experience. Came in with my daughter (12) and my friend Loren . I always order the same thing... I get a salad as part of my meal (veggie plate) it comes out after we have finished eating. Never got refills. A manger walks by and sees we have no drink, she stops and says she will get us refills. We don't see her again... my daughter ordered the spinach dip appetizer and I ordered a side of French fries as my appetizer to go with my salad, . My fries come out after about 30min. They were literally partially raw. I mean super hard. They were clear, like they were just soaked in oil and beyond undercooked. well I finally had to ask our waiter where my daughters dip was.. he says he would check the kitchen was really slow. it was after my daughter had already finished her meal. 90% of my meal was left on the table uneaten. He says oh the kitchen must have forgotten. So we wait. Well a few minutes go by he comes back I tell him to cancel it we had finished eating our meal and no longer wanted it. I worked there briefly and the food was made to order and 90% of the time came out delicious. It's a very busy place due to its location, and that's the reason why I have it two stars. The rating Is focused on the clientele that frequents the restaurant. "The Walmart crowd" this place attracts the budget minded (cheap people) who wants to find reasons not to tip the servers because they want something for nothing. There mostly ignorant to dinning, there there only to gorge themselves on the cheap. The prices are very reasonable and they run one menu (bad idea) day and night, so the soup and half sandwich you got for $5.00 for lunch, you can get at dinner. PEOPLE LISTEN! RUNNING YOUR SERVER AND BEING TRYING TO CHANGE THE MENU IS NOT A SIGN OF BEING A TRUE DINER. Haven't been to this restaurant in a while, so we went in and sat at the bar booth, thinking we would get served faster. Took a little over an hour to get our food, while the manager came by twice to apologize for. Excuse was the kitchen was backed up. Once the food arrived, I ordered a club sandwich, the bread on the sandwich was mushy and the fries were cold, like it had been sitting in the window for a while. My wife and daughters food was not cold. This is not the end of our crappy experience. I had ordered a beer while we waited and ordered a second. Both took the waiter over 10 minutes each time to bring. The problem came with the second beer, I noticed instantly that the glass had a funky smell. The next time the waiter wandered by our table, I asked him to smell. He concurred and then went on to apologize and gave the reasoning for the smell was the dishwasher has a setting on it to recycle the water. The management does this to save water. The staff is supposed to reset this every hour, but sometimes this does not get reset but once during a shift. This is entirely unacceptable and I hope that corporate will see this and make changes. The soda at this cheddars is flat, barely any carbonation. We have been here several times in the last 6 weeks and every time it had been flat. Tried talking to server each time and every time they said no one else had any complaints and it is just us. So this must be their policy. Maybe they save a few cents by lowering the carbonation level on their soda? Service also has been very slooooooowwwwww. We are not planning on coming back any time in the near future. The experience I had was not with the food I ordered but as I observed a couple at the table across from me on today in Asheville at approximately 1230pm- 1:30pm. The couple arrived 10 minutes after I did.I saw the waitress take their order approximately at the same time as my waitor took my order. I was served perhaps15 minutes after I ordered. The folks in tables around me were served and 2 tables turned over with new folks twice and this particular couple had not received their food. They waited at least 30-40 minutes and still no food. I simply had to walk over to them and inquire why they had not been served. Their response"We just asked that question and the waitress said it is on the way." They ordered a simple meal nothing requiring much time. After approximately 35 minutes and no food, they got up and left. I followed them and went to the front greeters because I could not locate the manager. The young man staff member at the front reservation podium stated to me after I shared what I witnessed:"They should have come up to us. It is not the restaurant's fault, it is the wait staff's fault." That is pathetic. The other young lady staff member at the reservation podium said "I can't find. [ the manager's name]. I tried to get them to follow me outside to address the couple, but they would not follow me out to address and apologize to the couple. This was a horrible observation. read more

Our family arrived @ 8 pm on Sat. Sept. 10 and were seated right away . Our waiter was very courteous and on top of our requests. We ordered and after about 30 minutes our meal arrived . I noticed the portions were small but was not surprised . My son ordered a steak and shrimp med. rare . His steak was well done but was eaten anyway . He also had green beans as a side and was very disappointed to get " can " beans . I kept it simple and had a burger and fries . The burger bun was the size of a brown and serve roll . The fries looked like a child's portion from a happy meal . With the first bite of the burger I tasted raw meat . The center of the patty was uncooked and red . I called a waitress from another table and told her it was not safe to eat raw hamburger . She took it back and that was the last we saw of her . Our waiter finally came back and I explained what had happened . He was very apologetic and went back towards the kitchen area. Twenty five minutes later everyone was finished eating and I was still waiting for my order to be cooked and brought out . When I finally saw our waiter again I motioned for him and he came to our table . I told him to bring the check and take my order off - we couldn't wait all night . The restaurant was about half full and there was no excuse to take that long to cook a hamburger patty . The waiter said it was " about ready " and tried to apologize for the wait . Ordered take-out, the Monte Cristo sandwich with fries. It has been a long time since I have eaten at Cheddars and I noticed there was not as much ham on the sandwich as there used be. All 3 "to go" orders came out without having the powdered sugar on the sandwich which the server caught and took back. Quality and taste was very good and we got full after eating only half of our sandwich. The fries were fresh, hot and delicious. The server was extremely nice and kept a smile on his face the entire time (even when I asked him to go back for more raspberry preserves). One Star is being generous...I've eaten at Cheddars on multiple occasions, three of those experiences I swore I would never go back. It truly is one of the shittiest restaurants I've ever been to. The menu is extremely over-priced, the food is on par with Ryan's Restaurants, management is never around, the floors and tables are always filthy nasty, and the servers are always apologizing for the way the restaurant is managed...I have had great servers, but never great service. To have their signature croissants will cost you $2.69...that's $2.69 more than you should have to pay, and that will only get you three rolls. A salad with your meal states very clearly it will only be an additional $2.69, however when you get your bill it will ring up as $3.29 and their will be an unknown hidden catch as to why you are paying the additional $.60. I got the beer battered shrimp...ugh...the shrimp still have the nasty veins of shit in them and the kitchen mutelates them leaving them splayed open like some unknown sea creature undiscovered. $10.49 for 8 shrimp, fries, and a tiny saucer of slaw...WTF? I love rednecks, and if you love rednecks, you'll be right at home at Cheddars Restaurant...this is like the hotspot for high end cuisine in Asheville for Rednecks. If you like that rock-gut feeling you get after eating something that didn't quite get along with your stomach, then you will love this shots-hole. I paid over $50.00 for two adults, two kids meals, and two drinks...do yourself a favor and steer clear. My husband and I went here when we were in Asheville in September and thought we would come back by while we were Asheville again. When we went there the first time everything was amazing and we were very impressed with the food and the service. However, the same cannot be said for this visit. When we arrived there was clearly a wait and the host told us it would be 17-23 minutes, well we ended up waiting a hour. Once we got to the table it took our waitress 10 minutes before she even greeted us, I would add her name in this review, but she didnt tell us what it was. Then after placing our drink order and food order at the same time we waited another 15-20 minutes for food. Our queso and chips was actually nacho cheese and chips. When the rest of our food came it was hot and very good. I cant really say anything bad about the food, except for the nacho cheese. But miss no name was no where. She never came back but one time and when she did she stood there and complained about having to work since 11am. My husband and I never got refills and we were lucky to track her down to get the check. We will never be going back to that place again. read more

Cheddar's sirloin steak is the only steak I order out where I don't have to trim any fat off. Delicious and juice. The five stars are for the food and the service. We had to ask to have the blaring music turned down so we could hear each other speak without yelling - I've found the music blaring at other Cheddar's restaurant's, too, to the point where the waiter had to lean down with his ear right up to people's mouths in order to hear them. Music should be low background volume only. Part of going out to eat is conversation & making memories - you'd think restaurants would 'get that'. I'm 5' 5" tall and the top of the table came to just below my collar bone - I'm not kidding! Unless you're a basketball player the tops of the tables in the booths are way too high. Today was my 25th anniversary ,and we've eaten at Cheddars alot of times in the past so i knew the food would be perfect for a middle of the work week meal/anniverary without a long wait.I was wrong the hostess sat us immediately but it took our waiter Mike over 8 min.to even acknowledge us .He went to tables that were finishing up there meals before even taking our drink orders.I am so very disappointd in the service as well as the food we received tonight,myself and husband both ordered a no mess up meal we thought ??? blackoned salmon /with corn and brocolli the dinner portion,but 15 min.later another waiter came to the table with our food and i immediately said this is the lunch portion he took it back to the kitchen and came back told us i was right and asked if we wanted him to get our waiter Mike we just told him thats ok we'll just eat it .Corn was luke warm but everything else was almost hot.Mike never apologized or mentioned that he made a mistake on our order. My husband needed more water but we had to wait until Mike came back around .What a joke ,We have had Mike as a waiter before and needless to say almost sme experience maybe he thought we were not going to tip ?don't know but we will not be returning to Cheddars on Bleachery Blvd. for a while .Looked for hostess or anyone as we were leaving so i could let someone know of our experience but no one was insight thats the reason for the long review.Ihope someone that truley cares about this co.look into the service your patrons are given everyone won't tell you it was a problem but wen i'm spending my money someone need to know how i feel. read more
