Grilled chicken salad, burger, sweet potato fries
    Britney G.

Needed a quick light lunch before golfing. Order the grilled chicken salad that ranks in my top 3 salads of all time. Don't ever change it! Hubs got the burger & sweet potato fries & called it delicious. He never expresses anything about food so you know it is good if he says something positive! Overall: quick, great portions, tasty, & cozy atmosphere.

We took a break while traveling in the Asheville area enjoying the fall colors. We decided to try something different. Cornerstone Restaurant meets that criteria. Our waiter was excellent and very friendly. We had an appetizer of fried squash and the country fried steak with potatoes. Everything was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was clean and not too noisy at the time we were there.

Honestly it was a very positive experience all the way around. Modern design inside and I felt comfortable -- big windows. Big booths. Maybe some repairs are in order on the vinyl where it's rubbing off but not torn or looking horrible. Service was very good. Friendly. Quick -- with a little lull when I was ready to go. But I think the staff was pretty busy. Very friendly though. Prices are quite reasonable for Asheville today. I got 2 scrambled eggs with pancakes (small up charge for real maple syrup expected) and added grits. Drank ice water. Came in at $17.09. You can choose to gussy up your pancakes but I went straight. They were fluffy and tasted fine. I probably prefer a whole grain like Early Girl Eatery used to serve. But this was standard and still very good. A really good size. Added white American cheese to the eggs. Again, standard & good. Nothing to say they were outstanding but still tasty. The local stoneground grits however were amazing. I typically add sweet to mine but these had so much flavor there was no need. The menu is extensive. I've never heard anyone complain about anything here so I'd imagine that lunch & dinner are equally as well executed. All in all you're getting a healthier version of an all American place -- with a touch of Italian, Greek & Mexican influences just like a good American old school Restaraunt would do. Patrons were young and old, families and construction workers at lunch. I plan to return with my guy. Thanks, Cornerstone!

This spot was well reviewed and was near my hotel so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. The drinks are well made and the food is well prepared with large portions. I will make a stop here everytime I come to Asheville.

    French toast

Delicious breakfast we had the eggs Benedict with bbq and cheddar grit cakes and the brioche French toast with bacon. Outstanding!

We discovered this place when we were visiting from South Florida, and we had a great experience! Our server was Bailey and she was amazing and was very attentive and friendly! There should be more servers with her demeanor and professionalism!! When we visit Asheville again we will definitely be back!

So much food!! Stuffed blackberry French toast is the bomb. There was probably $10 worth of blackberries on it. Closest thing to my momma's blackberry dumplings. My partner had the chicken Philly. She enjoyed it. Didn't care for the homemade chips, they looked delicious. And cheese curds for an appetizer with jalapeño ranch. I think the ranch was homemade. It was super tasty!

I went to Asheville to volunteer after the storm hit, and ended up coming here with my group for dinner three nights in a row. Worth it every time! The first night, I got the fish and chips with roasted Brussels sprouts side, which I got the next night, too. They were perfectly cooked! I was impressed that even with the challenges of post-storm clean up and non-potable water, they still had amazing food. Everything was on disposable plates but they still managed to make it look elegant and indulgent. I was bummed to not be able to try their breakfast, I heard from multiple people that their homemade biscuits and gravy are to die for. The owner/manager came to talk with us each time we were there and thanked us for volunteering, which was such a kind gesture. He told us they're a family business and have been open for 30 years. Based on the food and experience, I can certainly see why!

What is this garbage "apple pie"? Looks like it's from Food Lion

Worst food I've ever eaten in Asheville. My husbands burger was a frozen patty. None of the Thanksgiving food was homemade. 2 stars for the friendly service.

We had breakfast while in Asheville at this awesome bustling diner. It is larger than you think inside and has a full bar. One section had a fireplace. The portions were huge and I was like no way can I eat all this but with hubbies help we made a big dent. I ordered the chicken Benedict with home fries--the potatoes took up half the plate and I ate 80% of them. The Benedict was poached eggs on biscuits with two HUGE pieces of boneless fried chicken on the side. Oh soooo good!!! Hub ordered a pecan pancake and biscuits with gravy which he demolished. We haven't been that full in a long time, but it was too good to waste and we were traveling so couldn't save anything. Highly recommend! It was clean, plenty of parking on a Monday morning. The service was ok, I think our waitress was also serving tables in back as we had to flag down other staff twice to find her ... once for water and once for the bill. It was pretty busy though so no shade on her.

It was elevated Southern cuisine, and we enjoyed it enough that we may go back before leaving the area. The restaurant has a comfortable feel -- upscale, but not stuffy. The service was excellent. The servers were personable and attentive without hovering. At one point, I accidentally dropped my napkin, and our server immediately brought me another one. Our water glasses were continually refilled, and our server checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. My partner and I liked so many things on the menu that we knew ordering soup, salad, an appetizer, and entrées would be too much. We told our server we were sharing, and for most of the courses, they divided the portions and brought them out on separate plates. That was another small touch that showed they were paying attention to detail. There wasn't anything we had that we wouldn't order again. We started with the seasonal soup, which was a tomato bisque, followed by the strawberry and feta salad. The country ham board was excellent and actually had me looking for Lusty Monk mustard the next day. For our main entrée, we shared the shrimp and grits, which was also delicious. Great food, thoughtful service, and a comfortable upscale atmosphere. This was the best meals we had in the area.

We walked in without a reservation, sat down, and had the kind of long, unhurried dinner that feels increasingly rare. Nobody rushed us. They let us share plates without hesitation. The menu is billed as New American, and that's the right phrase for it -- genuinely eclectic, pulling from Spanish, French bistro, and Southern influences without committing to any one of them. The pork chop was excellent. The grilled carrots were genuinely memorable. The green salad was simple and well done. Our waiter recommended a wine that we were pleased with, and even offered a tasting. The wine list is deep for a room this size, and the cocktail list looks the same. Music was at that sweet-spot volume where you can hear your conversation partner and still hear the song. You could bring your parents, or come on a date, it works either way. Some farm-to-table places feel pretentious; this one doesn't. They don't make you feel dumb for not knowing every local distributor. One small gripe: a 3% "kitchen staff fee" printed on the back of the menu. I'm all for paying the kitchen, but I'd rather see it built into the prices up front. 4.7 Stars. What would push it to a solid five stars: drop the hidden fee and bake it into the menu prices. That's genuinely the only thing standing between this and a perfect night out.
