I tried Cheddars again but under the idea to only go there for a cheat (unhealthy) meal. I got the country fried chicken and the wife got the chicken tenders with shrimp. Both were good but the Country fried chicken was a lot better. This would be my go to for this place. I my experience don't go here for a healthy meal. Go hear for some tasty fried food. First review below The fried food is fantastic. The onion rings were crispy and hot. The fried steak was the same breading and tasty. The chicken strips were good too. The salmon was terrible, dry and lacked flavor. The Mac and cheese isn't good. The broccoli is pretty good. The salad is the shaved kind of salad. The sweet potato is good and covered in brown sugar. The place is very clean but I agree with another reviewer that there are a lot of people walking around and it makes you feel uncomfortable. When I read that it didn't make sense but then I experienced it. I will probably go back one day but I won't be in a rush to go back. read more

Had the Roasted Chicken Dinner the other day for Lunch an was kinda expecting a grown chicken as l like chicken wings an it ended up being like a chopped up Cornish hen an the wing parts were about the size of your little finger basically nothing, it was also very dry meat so was pretty disappointed would never order it again, but on the bright side the mashed potato's an gravy were good an carrots,,, But with that said they have Great Bacon Burgers so might have to stick to them................ read more

The staff were organized and helpful. Hostess and wait staff and bartender very organized. I ate here twice... First time, the meal (grilled salmon) was far too salty. And it took 25 minutes to cook as someone turned the oven off. The waiter brought s free appetizer but never asked what I would like as an appetizer so I didn't eat it.... I.e. Not something that is eat. Second trip was much better, but the sweet potato want cooked well. The first one was hard as the counter ... The fork wouldn't penetrate...and the second one was better but still undercooked. The kitchen needs to get itself together! Also, the manager never visited even after these comments. Newer restaurant to Appleton, I was getting an early dinner at 4 pm. While I thought it would be quick in, as there were tables available and plenty of staff just standing around gabbing, I was wrong. They said it would be a 5-minute wait, which was 15. Moved to my table and waited another 10 minutes to be waited on. The waiter took my order, supposedly writing it down, but returned 2 times to verify my order. When it came, the waiter walked away, but returned quickly to ask how the food was. The salmon was ok. For a grilled salmon, it was still a bit underdone. The plating also was a bit sloppy. (See my photo) I did point out the undoneness to the waiter so he could enlighten the kitchen for better food control. The sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, and the mac and cheese were tasty. All made fresh, which is their thing. So, it is a good thing. Now they need to start from scratch on customer service, food control and presentation. The newesst entrant to the town! Visited this establishment yesterday and loved it. I had envisioned it to be a regular chain restaurant but was genuinely astonished to see the well done interiors. Spacious and well demarcated madevit look right out of a magazine. We were seated promptly and we ordered the following - Sangria Long Island Tea. A specific request was made to pour less ice but it fell on deaf ears :( Food - Requested for Onion Rings but were informed that it takes longest amongst all the appetizers, so had to let it go too. My partner ordered a Key west combo of Chicken and Shrimp. And I had the Tilapia and Shrimp. Sides - Baked potato Black beans French fries Brocolli casserole. The Tilapia and Shrimp was exquisite and so were the beans. Shrimp was cooked with the spices and the mango salsa added to the taste of the dish. I loved the baked potato too. Well loaded and the skin was perfect. However, the Chicken was not cooked well and seemed raw. The brocolli casserole dish was too cold. Couldn't eat it. Points of improvement - 1. Service can be better. No paper napkins, server promptly discouraged to order an appetizer - Weird. 2. The food needs to be cooked thoroughly and also it should be hot. Even though Cheddar's is a chain restaurant, we were excited to try it. Excited to have another restaurant by the Fox River Mall. But, this isn't any different than Applebee's or any other chain restaurant. I signed up for the e-Club and we got a free chips and queso as the promotion. Got here at 3:55 on a Sunday. Was seated in the bar because we were told the dining room was unavailable. Wasn't told why but figured it may not be used till 4:00?? Anyway didn't get a server until after at least 15 minutes AND mentioning to the host that we hadn't been helped yet! Oh and I'm the meantime several groups had been seated in the dining room!! Wouldn't you think the host, when asked if we could sit in the dining room, would have said it doesn't open till 4?? Anyway, service was poor, I didn't get what I ordered, food was mediocre. We came on a Friday during dinner time. We only had a 5 minute wait to be seated. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was really good and the portion sizes are large. My only criticism is that we were charged $3 for "table games" on their table kiosk even though we never touched it. I didn't realize the extra charge until it was too late. My first time trying cheddars and thought I would give it a shot since a friend of mine recommended this place for us. I ordered the chicken pot pie since i haven't had a chicken pot pie in awhile. The chicken pot pie was decent despite the veggies being sort of cold inside the chicken pot pie, but otherwise the chicken pot pie was nice and warm. The service wasn't bad at all either they keep the restaurant well kept compared to other food places. However my boyfriends burger was a bit overcooked as well as the veggies being stuck to them but otherwise we enjoyed our experience I'll definitely be back cause the prices are fairly inexpensive. read more

Sorry I ate half the dinner before I remembered I'd not taken a picture. Hubby ordered the loaded potato soup and said it was good he ate every bit. I had the talapia and shrimp dinner with broccoli casserole and red beans and rice as a side. Since I ordered our dinner to go my dish came in a tri-section take-away. The well seasoned fish sat on a generous portion of rice with 4 shrimp and topped with a sauce that had me almost licking the plate. I liked the red beans a rice. Had my first dining experience at this restaurant that I have heard so much about. We got to the restaurant at 1 o'clock on a busy Saturday. We had a group of four and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. We went to the Appleton location which is a very busy location near the mall. Once the group of us were seated they immediately brought free cheese curds which is how they got their name cheddars. All of the menu items are freshly made on a daily basis. I wasn't overly impressed with the menu as I look for healthy choices. Most choices are fried but there are a number of healthy choices including a lighter side menu. Three of the four of us close the lighter meal options. We mentioned that we were first time visitors & immediately were treated to individually wrapped warm cookies for each one of us. We enjoyed the large selection of sides for each meal choice and left very full and two of us had leftovers. Nice decor & good service. read more

This place is definitely worth the 5 stars. It bas amazing food for a decent price, I suggest the grilled salmon or the Philly Cheesesteak. Have been there twice, great experiences both times. Staff are kind and attentive, menu offers something for everyone. I got the chicken tenders, which were crispy yet juicy, and the pain killer cocktail - VERY boozy - totally understand why they limit guests to only 2 of them. Husband had to help finish mine. Fries were standard. Cheese curds were tasty and gooey. Second time we got the chips and queso - and honest to god best salsa I've ever had. Idk why but it was soooo good. Also go the tilapia & shrimp with mango salsa. Shrimp were rubbery - no char/seer at all, but the tilapia was excellent. This was my first time at Cheddars. We went for lunch on a Friday at about 1 PM. We had to wait for a table for about five minutes. I ordered the Key West chicken and shrimp. It was listed as one of their healthier options so I wasn't sure how it would taste. The flavor was awesome! Would definitely order it again. I've been to this restaurant twice. I ordered the same thing but times; a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The first time the burger was pretty good and it looked better aesthetically then it actually tasted. So the second trip I ordered the same thing and was so disappointed I doubt I will ever return. The burger was barely warm enough to melt the cheese and the fries were barely warm at all. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I just wish they would step up there game. read more

Beautiful place to eat, the seating is decently comfortable compared to most places, and they greet you with a warm buttered croissant once you're seated. The menu was packed with so many good looking appetizers, steaks, and appetizers, I was only disappointed a restaurant of this nice of quality didn't have any wagyu :( but fantastic overall. I had the smokehouse burger (decently sized burger cooked perfectly) with a side of fries, and my fiancé had an 8 ounce salmon loaded baked potato, and buttered corn. Total was like 37 dollars and I was honestly full, took some home. Definitely recommend this place if you decide to go out to eat for a decently cheap price. read more

Food was amazing, service, to be honest, was quite lacking. We were seated in a booth in the back, and apparently the host didn't tell the waitress she put us there so we waited 10-15 minutes for her to come. She didn't bring more chips for our appetizer like we were told to ask for, my boyfriends meal was missing the garlic bread (which we found out was included when we got the check), and she spilled my sangria on the table and seemed surprised when we asked for more napkins to clean it up since she just walked away. We had been here before and absolutely loved it (our waitress then was phenomenal and honestly we tipped over 50% since she was soo good) but this time we weren't as impressed. We'll likely try it again since we love the food and drink prices, but hoping for a different service experience next time. read more

Stopped here on a Friday for lunch based off of a friends recommendation. The food wasn't bad at all but the service was... different. We were waited on by no less than three people and they struggled mightily with splitting the check. I know this is a newer restaurant but those bugs should've been worked out by now. Our lunch took over 90 minutes in total with serious gaps for getting drinks, food and final check. All in all, no one complained about their meal and the place is quite nice. We will try it again because they were fairly busy for lunch. read more

I purposely waited to try eating at Cheddar's because of the early reviews and the fact that the Cheddar's chain is one of my favorites and I ate there a lot in Texas before moving here. I figured things should be running smoothly after 3 months of being open. So I finally went this past Monday around 6PM. Food- Food was pretty crappy for a scratch kitchen. It definitely did not taste like the other locations I have been to. It tasted like it sat under the warmer for too long. Some of my lettuce was wilted in my house salad. The croissants were even disappointing and dried out. I really wanted to like my food but it just was not good. It also took FOR-EV-ER for our food to come out of the kitchen. The restaurant was on a short wait when we arrived but we were sat in 10 minutes. The food took almost an hour to come out of the kitchen and it definitely did not taste fresh. None of my party actually thought their food was good. Drinks- Drinks were good. They have a large selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. Service- I also didnt get the previous reviews that talked about lots of the staff walking around but they do. It almost like they dont know what to do when the kitchen is so backed up/slow. We were checked on by our server a few times in that hour for food and she kept apologizing. We knew it wasn't her fault but there was a gap of about 20 minutes in there where she didnt check on us and we needed drink refills. I really, really, really wanted to like this location but at this point I don't even know if I can give it another shot. Maybe in a few months I will give it one last shot. If you want a place to sit and talk while you wait for subpar food, then this is the place for you. If not, you won't be missing out on anything if you don't eat here. read more

This was our second time visiting, and we had a better experience this time. I ordered the ribs and grilled shrimp with mashed potato and baby carrots for the sides. The ribs were excellent and fell off the bone. Plenty of meat. Also the grilled shrimp was amazing, and I think I will just get that next time. Wow!! Most put together new restaurant I have been to yet. Typically they are a madhouse and unorganized but they were cool and calm and offered great service and fantastic food at a very fair price. Walking into this establishment you wouldn't think it's only been open for a few months. We were trying not to fall on our faces while walking to our table because the floors were SO SLIPPERY. We asked why the floors were so slippery and we were told that's just how the floors are (you could clearly see the layer of grease that shined all over the floor)- it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen. We sat at our table which was not properly cleaned. We had to ask for silverware multiple times. We had our toddler with us and while they provide high chairs, it's not a very family friendly place- they had no kids cups (they use a to go large size styrofoam cup that was bigger than our kids head so you could imagine a toddler tryin to grab the cup and just spilling all over them-self) The food itself is good, we order the salmon and the combination chicken tenders and shrimp plate, Caesar salad was really good. Very simple food, very reasonable prices. I don't know if it's enough of a trade off for just a overall bad first impression. Lastly, the bathrooms were just disgusting. The restaurant opens at 4pm and we went at 5:30pm but the bathroom looked like it hadn't been serviced in days. No toilet paper in the stall, trash can overflowing with garbage all over the floor. Just really poor management all around. We really wanted to like this place, the decor is really nice and you can tell the staff is trying.. we've dined at cheddars in different states and I guess we expected a similar experience. The food is good, but the service is very inconsistent. I have been there 5 times now, just giving the place a chance to improve because they are new to the area, but it never gets better. Each time I have been, they have been out of Mac and Cheese, and its always been a different day and time... Every time I have been there, my food has gotten to me before my drink has. We heard a lot about this place thanks to my husband's Uber/Lyft buddies, so decided to try it out. It wasn't very busy, but it still took awhile for our server to greet us, even with a lot of people walking around which I also found strange. Some of the staff didn't look very happy to be there. Our three treat platter was good, cheese bites were the best part. Chicken tenders seemed like they could've been fried longer. Potato skins were meh. Husband ordered the 6 oz steak medium, got it medium well. Portions otherwise seemed small. I tried the Mac and cheese and it was very bland. It didn't taste like anything. I ordered the bbq ribs and bbq chicken combo, with corn and fries. At first our server told me they were out of ribs, but then came back to tell me they had them. Hm. I didn't get a lot of sauce on my meal, and I didn't taste very much honey in the honey BBQ sauce. Chicken was good, but I couldn't finish the ribs, I boxed that up for later. Also, our original server didn't actually serve our meals to us, with it being not busy at all and so many people I wasn't sure why that was the case. She really wasn't around very much compared to other servers working. I wanted a refill on my tea, and I swear it felt like it took 15 minutes to get it. With a relatively quiet restaurant. I've worked in the restaurant industry and one thing I've learned is to *never* leave a drink empty. And I waited awhile. I also noticed the tip suggestions and there is no way I'd ever tip that much.... I'm sorry but when the highest suggestion is 22%, when it works out to actually being 24%.... that's crazy. With our bill that would've been $10.06. The service would need to be pretty darn incredible for that to happen. This place has potential to be really good. I'd say work on your staff being more attentive and fix your tip suggestions. read more

We stopped in a for a quick lunch during a week day. We both ordered off the "lighter side" menu, with both selected options being fish. The salmon was amazing with the bourbon glaze, and the mango salsa with the tilapia and shrimp was also worth writing home about. Each plate came with two sides as well. The side options appeal to all tastes, as the vegetables, the mac & cheese, and potato options were perfect. Great portion sizes that left us full but not stuffed. The restaurant was clean and busy. I came here for my birthday with my boyfriend and siblings. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left our service was awful. I'm a Darden server myself and don't ever leave reviews bc I don't find it necessary most of the time but this experience was down right bad. Our server Erica L had little to no personality, we waited quite some time for food. She took our order and did not check back on us the entire time. Did not ask if we would like refills nor asked us how food was tasting. Being a server myself I fully understand how a busy rush can throw you off and cause you to be slightly behind, this was not the case. I made eye contact with our server a few times as she ignored our table. We eventually had to ask the bartender if she could please find our server (don't like doing that) bc she was no where to be found. She let us know that she had let our server know that we needed assistance (for a box, check and birthday dessert) another approx. 10 min went by and we heard the bartender tell another employee if they could please go find her because she still had not come. She eventually came and brought a box and dessert. The food was a 5/10 at best. Knowing the other side of the service industry and how servers get treated I would normally never write something like this but this was so, so bad. Lovely restaurant. We have been there twice this week. I had the salmon and it was season perfectly. The steamed veggies were great too. The next time I had Chicken and shrimp. My husband had the sampler appetizer platter. The chicken tenders were huge, wonderfully light and the ultimate breading. The cheese curds were lovely. Everything he had was perfect.
