Visited this pub two nights in a row for the after parties for Irishfest of the Fox Cities in Appleton WI. The Guinness was flowing as was the Whiskey Gingers! Yes, I had both! Several of the bands also showed up so the place was packed and lively. There was also live music both nights. They hosted a Full Irish Breakfast Saturday morning which was scrambled eggs, bacon, bangers, black pudding, stewed tomatoes, pork and beans, and scones. It was also good I forgot to take a picture of the food but I got one of the great Irish Whiskey! If you have ever had bacon in Ireland you know it's the best! I took the leftover scone and banger with me and had it the next morning. It was still delicious! read more

Loved the Reuben sandwich - absolutely delicious. My husband liked the fish and chips but fish was a little over cooked. The best part of our visit was the staff. Friendly, helpful and made great whiskey recommendations. read more

This place had everything to make the evening an awesome one. Guinness was excellent and so was the food. We tried the Galaway wings with Yellow spice and the Fish and Chips. The latter was marvellous and I would definitely rate it as one of the best. What best way to end an evening than with the Irish brownie Kudos to the server who was regularly checking up on us :) I could give an extra star just for the atmosphere of the pub.. With folks singing aloud at the bar counter and everyone else joining them. It was truly a Gala evening. read more

Best Reuben EVER! We were just driving down the road looking for a place to eat and my husband asked if we could stop in here. It is a spacious bar atmosphere almost feels old world like with all the dark woods. We found a table in the dining area and were promptly asked what we would like to drink. We both asked for any sort of dark Irish beer you have and that was a great choice. The dark beer that we were served paired well with our food. I ordered the Reuben sandwich but asked for coleslaw instead of chips. I always worry about subbing sides but the kind gentleman with the cool Irish accent did not bat an eye to my request. When the Reuben came out it was served with a side of thousand island. I like that it was not on the sandwich as I could dress it how I wished. It was mouth watering good. My husband loved the sheppard's pie. I would come back here to try other things on the menu as well. The chips and curry sound amazing. Worth a stop in if you are looking for traditional Irish food. read more

This used to be my FAVORITE bar, but now that I've been back after 3 years I am sadly disappointed. The music has all been switched to hip hop to accommodate a couple of females (I am one myself, but enjoy the comfort of an older mans' bar) and the company has followed suit. I missed the older men with intellectual things to say and it has lost all the wonderful appeal it used to offer. I was close to tears (admittedly a bit from the good drink specials) upon leaving and have no intention of returning to a once very much loved pub. Good luck in the future... read more

We went here after rehearsal dinner last night to "continue the party". It's a block or so down off of College Avenue, so it wasn't crazy-packed inside. Just busy and friendly, which is what I think about when I think of a pub. They had a wide variety of imports on tap and the prices were reasonable. It even appeared that they had Guinness specials on some of the weekdays. The place is roomy, there a cute little 'front porch" area by the bar in the front and past there, there is a large room with tables in the back. I don't know anything about the food since we got there late in the evening, but if I lived in Appleton (or the area), I'd definitely be back to give the fish and chips (I'm guessing they have them) a try! read more

Sometimes you just want to drink a a public place and not have loud music booming in your ear and crazy strangers crowding your path. McGuinness Irish Pub is the place to go to meet friends, have a good drink, and enjoy peaceful yet still lively company. Started by the McGuinness family from Ireland, it certainly hold to its attempt at an authentic Irish pub atmosphere. There mainly stouts and ales on tap, typically of Guinness brewery, but also they have a variety and cider is a popular choice. They have a vast choice of whiskeys and scotches, but do not exclude the bourbon or vodka for those visiting with their friends. The bartenders are knowledgeable, patient, and very easy to talk to. The sign does not lie. It is certainly a place where friendships are made. I am proud to say I am a member of the McGuinness pub community and am glad to see there are many people there who I have built lasting relationships with. This used to be a great place to go until new ownership a few years ago. Went a few years ago for st Patrick's day hoping to hear some good music, instead they had ask and karaoke, sorry I don't want to hear Justin Timberlake on St Patrick's day.....Thought we give it another try last night since we were at our favorite spot Fox River House supporting their business before corona shuts them down. Wow, McGuinness was horrible! Owner was bar tending and beyond rude, only other patron was a drunk lady with a fake Irish accent, place is a joke now. Not authentic at all!!! Sad to see what a joke this place has become. Don't waste your time or money. read more

I went with a group for a weeknight drink and was pleased. They have a great selection of beers on tap and the whiskey selection made me a little too excited. It was a Thursday night so no shots were had, but I'll be back! I had two kilt lifter scotch ales and a Guinness (which they pour beautifully) for a reasonable price. The bartender was friendly and the crowd was made up of small groups enjoying a beer and talking. I ordered some food and it wasn't anything to remember, but is that why I was there? nope. read more

We stopped in for lunch and to purchase some gift cards for our relatives following a trip to Ireland. Service was almost non existent . After ordering a beer we waited for menus and after menus arrived the guy just plain ignored us! The place was not at all busy and he walked through several times without looking our way. 45 minutes later we finished our pints and went to the bar to pay (could have easily just walked out but we are not like that). His only comment was 'sorry for the delay'. Now we know why there was available parking right in front of the place! Happy I didn't buy those gift cards! read more
