I've only been here twice but each time I have not been disappointed! It has a such a nice ambience. First time I came I tried one of their signature cocktails, it was the ambassador one which was their take on an old fashioned I believe? I can't quite recall but it delicious! I had asked the bartender when we first walked in if he could make anything with elderflower, and he whipped up something with elderflower liqueur and some habanero VODKA! Ambassador has great cocktails. The bartenders are all very knowledgeable and really make an effort to talk to you and understand what you like to drink. It does get slow when it is busy, due to this individualization, but is a great casual place to go with friends. read more

You can find yourself in deep conversation ranging from politics to conspiracy theory. This place will tantalize all of your senses. However, I asked the owner to let me shoot his vintage cap guns. He gave me a maybe, maybe not kind of answer. I told him that next Tuesday i will bring my own caps in. Giving this place 5 stars. I went here for a girls night out. It's a hole in the wall. The place looks sketchy on the outside and it's hard to find. But once you go in, it's awesome. The place is semi dark. The bathrooms are SO clean. Probably one of the cleanest restroom I've been to at a bar. The drinks are custom and VERY delicious and fresh. I really like the atmosphere of this place, but I'm not a fan of the drinks. The first time I visited I was told they specialize in old fashioneds, so I ordered one but it tasted very odd to me. My next visit I decided to order a beer, but the keg kicked and they checked for a replacement but they didn't have one, so I ordered a different beer. That keg also kicked. The bartender went to replace it and finally about 20 min from the start of me trying to get a drink I finally got my beer and it cost about 9 dollars and I didn't even like it!!! read more

This is by far the best bar in Appleton. The bartender was very knowledgeable. He made me a personalized drink based off off what I like (Gin) with fresh herbs and with liquors you can't find anywhere else downtown. The atmosphere was chill and had a great vibe to it which we enjoyed. (not every 22 year old wants to go to a "college" type bar) My friends and I will definitely be back. First off let me just say that as far as myself and my husband are concerned, this is the ONLY bar in Appleton you ever need to go to. We recently moved here after living in ten or so cities around the country. We hadn't met any interesting people and we found ourselves in serious need of some fun. We decided to do an impromptu bar-hop of sorts on a random Wednesday night (perfect night of the week to pickle your insides). We jumped on College and realized that we only had like 4 choices to choose from. Skeptical and with frozen ears, we did our best to find the magic in what reportedly were the best of the best of what Appleton had to offer. After three slightly disappointing ventures, we decided to bite the bullet and head into Cleo's because why the hell not...its famous right. Hmm, after some drunk lady who looked like my grandmothers old cribbage buddy, suggested we try the sweaty snowball (not sure if that's the name of the drink or not) we grappled and then figured we'd give it a whirl....that was before we watched the very cheerful (he was actually pretty cool) bartender, whip up a batch of that swill for a couple of other rubes down the bar from us. As my stomach lurched watching the gentleman add item after item, I knew it wouldn't be for us. We opted for a shot and then hightailed it out of there because the wee beady little eyes of all those damned Kringles was freaking me out. Feeling defeated, we started the walk back home. IF the light had been green, we would have missed this little gem (The Ambassador). It just so happened that I looked down the street as we were standing on the corner and spotted an understated sign. We figured Phucket, it can't get any worse and for once we were actually right. At first the bar was empty....which was nice. It gave us a chance to ease into the environment and to have a chat with one of the coolest bartender/owners I've met in a while, Jordan (???). He was a tatted up guy that you'd expect to find slinging drinks somewhere in LA or Seattle or anywhere other than this winter wonderland. He was smart, funny and a little bit crazy...like only the best people can be. It also gave us a chance to take the whole of the place in. It's decorated in the way that every cool bar that you've ever seen in every seedy movie you've ever watched is...super comfortable, but slightly tacky and a little bit creepy. High note for the chicks out there- the woman's bathroom was actually really clean for a bar and not totally freezing...ten bonus points right there. The drink selection was nice. In addition to actually having a beer I'd never had before, this place also has a Manhattan on tap. They don't offer food to soak up any of the sweet libations, but Jordan (???) said that he allowed people to order in (Jimmy Johns anyone?). I could get really into our particular experience (I think I spent $20 on the Jukebox, hugged a complete stranger, my husband turned into a burly Hungarian for a moment there....etc. etc.), but I fear I've already said too much. Suffice it to say, we got drunk, we made assess out of ourselves, we rolled around in a snow bank after getting lost on the way home and we had to call into work the next day- a true bar experience made even better by the fact that we spent about a fourth of what I would have expected to spend. Great specialty cocktails. Knowledgeable staff. The cocktails used to be a little on the pricier side, but still worth it the first year or 2 this place was in business. But the prices seemed to have skyrocketed more recently. I understand it's unique to the area, and has some of the best drink options, and a great atmosphere, but the increase in cost has made it so I no longer make it a regular stop. Which is unfortunate, because it was becoming one of my favorite bars, if not my favorite in Appleton. But if you can afford it, definitely stop in. Bouncer is extremely friendly, as are the bartenders. And I love the music selection. And the live music that plays there is almost always good. read more
