everything was absolutely fantastic. we started with the Jerk Burnt Ends, we could've just stopped there. The portion size was huge and the jerk sauce had just the right amount of heat. We split the 3 meat plate with Jerk Ribs, Jerk Chicken, Sweet Ting, and they threw in some Curry Chicken because they were sold out when we went the day before. For sides, we had greens, Mac and cheese, and cornbread dressing. All the meat was juicy and perfectly tender, the greens were incredible. I didn't love the Mac and cheese but that's only because I wasn't a fan of the type of cheese used. When we went the night before at 6:45 they were sold out. It's just the owner there so he sells out frequently. I had absolutely no qualms waiting a bit since we got there right when they opened the next day. At some point I bookmarked The Jerk Joint as a place to try because I love jerk chicken, but forgot about it until it appeared as a suggested place on social media. Coincidentally, I happened to be in Appleton a few days later so I made sure to stop by. I ordered à la carte jerk chicken and jerk ribs to go. For $9 each I feel like you get a good amount of food when you order the meats à la carte. Both the chicken and ribs had a distinct smokey flavor like they were cooked in a smoker, which is good. Unfortunately, and I could be very well wrong about this first part, neither meat looked or tasted like it was seasoned with a rub before it was smoked and the jerk sauce wasn't very thick, so a lot of the flavor was just the smokiness from the smoker. I didn't think the sauce had much heat to it, which was disappointing cause to me that's part of the point of eating Jamaican food. I don't know if I would go back. Having grown up in the Fox Valley there are certain places that I love stopping at when I'm up there, and if I'm on the fence about a place like I am with The Jerk Joint, it didn't wow me enough for a second chance. read more

Solid little spot tucked in a small strip mall. Quite the variety of dishes on the menu and they pump out items over the lunch hour! After struggling to decide, I settled on the Spicy Curry Chicken Bowl and a side of fries. The bowl was very solid. Not the best curry dish, but still comfortably in the good category. The fries were perfectly average, the seasoning was good but they needed a bit more crisp to really be anything more. All in all, I'd recommend for a spicy fix and think there are probably some hidden gems elsewhere on the menu! read more

I also got a rum cake for dessert! Always need a little sweet to balance out the heat. The bowl was just okay. I felt it had more heat then actual flavor. The rice was slightly softer than what I was used too. 6/10 . However the rum cake was moist and packed with flavor ! 8/10. I wish I got an extra slice. Amazing food! I had "The Worlds Largest Jerk Chicken Sandwich" and it was at least a foot long, with a ton of jerk chicken. I polished the whole thing off it was so good! My wife had a jerk chicken rice and beans bowl, and our daughter had the curry shrimp. As an appetizer we had the "doobie" roll, and it was a large jerk chicken egg roll about the size of a medium burrito! I tried everything, and it was all amazing with great flavor and serving sizes. We were so happy that we found this while in town for a soccer tourney, and will definitely be back next time in Appleton. Happy to support a local owned mom and pop restaurant! read more

Hand sliced Jerk Pork Shoulder With A Chipotle Pulled Pork, Topped With a Red Stripe Beer Brat Covered With Our Home made Jerk Aioli". How do you merge a Wisconsin beer brat with Jamaican jerk, I don't know how they did it but this was amazing. I had the spicy habanero pig sandwich personally and it was the perfect amount of heat. Not from Appleton so it's been a few years since stopping by The Jerk Joint. The food at this sleep little mostly carry out restaurant (3 sit down tables) is nothing short of outstanding. They have the best Caribbean dishes of any place I've found in Wisconsin. I dined in for lunch and the other 2 tables had first time visitors that told the owner at the cash register this is some of the best food they have ever had. I got their melt in your month Jerk Chicken which is a classic Caribbean dish. Prices seem reasonable at $11 for my lunch portion dish which included beans, rice and a very tasty marinated cabbage. The local Jamaican restaurant that we frequent closed a few months ago. We haven't been able to find another joint to replace it. Thank goodness to Yelp for always coming through for us. My palate does not tolerate spicy foods much but I'm surprised I'm able to handle the heat from here. Especially the doobies. It's packed with shredded meats, cabbage, and other vegetables. It was definitely the spiciest item I ate here. Husband got the Spicy Chicken Curry and I had the Brown Stew Chicken. Both had a little bit of spice. The meats were properly flavored. I would have preferred larger pieces of chicken instead of shredded. The rice and peas plus the cabbage side were wonderful. I would definitely return. The service was fast and friendly. We are SO HAPPY we happened upon this place looking for a place to eat. We were originally going to stop by the Thai place next door but they were closed. My son originally ordered the oxtail but it is so popular they ran out of a full portion. What a wonderful surprise when the chef gave him a small bowl of what was left to sample. I decided on the curry chicken and my brother got the pork rib bowl. Oh my gosh! The cabbage is some of the best cooked cabbage I've ever had, and the rice and beans are cooked to the perfect firmness. While my chicken had a couple pieces of cartilage, you could tell that it was from whole chicken pieces and the curry sauce was very flavorful! Price wise the ice cream and the dish I ordered were really reasonable for the quality of the food. The serve was relatively good with multiple different people helping us out. I love the red ceiling in here and the music they were playing. After a short wait the food came and the chicken was perfection. I also liked the waffle but was slightly sad there was no sauce or syrup or anything. It made the dish dry and I left half of the waffle uneaten. Every few months I will drive from Green Bay to pick up food from here. I got burned once by being closed during typical business hours. I have learned to check their Facebook page first. 2 of the last 3 times I have ordered their Doubie appetizer they have been out. Last night I ordered two Chicken Sandwiches that were listed as a daily special on Facebook and I was going to be charged full price until I mentioned it. When it was brought to my table, I was pleasantly surprised that it had a homemade flavorful slaw salad and red beans and rice. Everything had a lot of soul, flavor, tenderness to it. This is no longer Cozzy Corner and it now has a much narrower menu and appeal. The focus is purely on Jamaican style pork and chicken and the soul food aspect is now absent. There isn't much variety in the food or how it's prepared and it leans toward jerk spicy seasoning so if you've got kids it's probably a turnoff. The fun decor is gone in favor of a larger work counter, Jamaican flags, and bottles of Red Stripe and Guinness. To be honest, if Cozzy Corner failed here, this place will be closed soon too. Good, but the appeal is not broad enough to succeed in Kaukauna. read more
