However this time I was a bit surprised (and shocked) to find that I was charged for additional salad dressings to go with my salad. The salad was large I was given ONE small cup of dressing that barely did the job. I showed the waitress that the dressing just covered the large chunks of sliced meats and once they were consumed, the lettuce and remaining salad was bare. She brought me additional. I brought one of the small cups home with me and measured the contents and it was less than 1/6 of a cup. My surprise came when I got the bill and saw that they had charged me .79 for the additional small cups of dressing. I mentioned it to the host and he said, food is expensive. YES it is but so was my salad - $16.50 or so. My one ice-filled glass of cherry coke was $3.49.

Came here with family for dinner before a concert and left with pretty mixed feelings…read more The restaurant wasn't very busy, and we were seated immediately. We chose the patio, which ended up being one of the highlights of the visit. It was clean, comfortable, and well shaded, with a few yard games available that gave the space a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Service started off decent but unfortunately declined as the evening went on. Food took an unusually long time to come out, and to the server's credit, she recognized the delay before we even brought it up. She apologized and mentioned that a manager would be stopping by to speak with us. Unfortunately, that never happened, and service continued to deteriorate from there. We started with the nachos and cheese curds. The cheese curds were actually quite good. Crispy, flavorful, and probably one of the stronger items we had. The nachos were decent, though nothing particularly memorable. As for the BBQ, it was unfortunately pretty underwhelming. Especially considering BBQ pricing tends to come with expectations around quality and portion value. The ribs were the biggest disappointment. They were so dry they were nearly inedible, with meat crumbling apart from being overcooked. No amount of sauce could bring them back. The jalapeño cheddar sausage had a good texture, but flavor wise it was just okay and leaned overly salty without much depth. My side salad was forgotten entirely, and the cornbread, while having decent flavor, was very dry. The burnt ends also missed the mark. Rather than having the bark and caramelized texture you typically expect, they appeared to be stewed in BBQ sauce, leaving them mushy and overly sauced instead of smoky and textured. One bright spot was the BBQ sauce selection. There were several options, and they were tasty with enough variety to complement different meats. Overall, this feels like a place with good potential and a really pleasant setup, particularly the patio. I'm not sure if we caught them on an off night, but between the slow service and inconsistent food execution, the experience didn't live up to expectations. That said, I'd consider giving it another try in the future because the foundation is there.

I've seen a lot of positive comments about this downtown Kaukauna restaurant. My friend and I…read moredecided to check it out and can say the reviews were mostly accurate. A few facts: Parking is on the street. It doesn't open until 8 AM. The menu isn't huge. The decor is simple but nice. The music is similar to what you hear on most elevator rides. The Experience: We grabbed a seat in the mostly empty restaurant. We got our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was nice and was attentive to refilling my coffee cup. We ate and drank at a leisurely pace, never feeling rushed. The Food: my dining partner said their waffle and side of bacon were good. I enjoyed my short rib breakfast burrito. It was generous in size, appropriately hot and had good flavor. My fried potatoes were very good. I enjoyed their coffee. The rub: I asked for fried onions with my potatoes. I was informed it would be an upcharge. Onions upcharged? Conclusion: Not bad. A tad bit expensive but not crazy. Would I go back? Not saying I wouldn't but probably just to try something off their regular menu.
