My family and I were wandering around Metuchen downtown and came across this cute little Italian restaurant with outdoor seating (we chose to sit inside for whatever reason). We had the Crispy Calamari and Salsiccia (sausage) as starters. Both starters were very tasty. Calamari was extra crispy. The Sausages were good, covered in the same marinara sauce used for the calamari dipping. We ordered a meat lovers pizza. The pizza was amazing. Crust was nice and crispy and great amount of meat. We had the chicken parm with spaghetti. It was good and the portion was decent. Here is why I had to knock it down a star. I personally had the pasta with bolognese. They use the same sauce as our starters except they were a little heavy on the salt. I couldn't finish the dish because of how salty it was. Other than that, the service was great and owner and staff seem very friendly and always came to check on us. read more

We came last minute finding out that Metuchen was having the outdoor 80's-90's concert! This made the outdoor dining even better! We had the rice balls as an appetizer, which were very good, and then had the Nona pizza. The pizza was thin crust and DELICIOUS! Probably one of the best thin crust pizzas I've ever had! I will definitely be back and definitely will do takeout as well! read more

April 2025 Update: The original owner, Dario, has returned & the food is better than ever! During my last visit, I swore I would never return after the experience with the new owners. But as soon as I heard that Dario was back, my entire family made it a point to stop by and see if the rumors were true. Thankfully they were, and the same amazing food we knew & fell in love with is back in Metuchen! Everything we had this time around was a complete 180 from the previous visit. My favorite pasta, the Fettucine Mare, (vodka sauce pasta with crab, scallops and shrimp) was back on the menu and oh how we have missed it!! Other favorites of the night were the bruschetta, shrimp fra diavolo, and salmon. It's amazing how different food can be when you have ownership that truly cares about the sourcing of ingredients. The seafood tasted fresher than ever, produce was of the highest quality. I could go on and on about how good this meal was, but you definitely need to try it yourself to understand. Small place in Metuchen next to a parking garage (though there is street parking, the garage is a nice option to driving around to find the golden spot). Casually decorated and clean. Our server was super friendly and checked in with us a perfect amount of times. The food was really good. I had a Margherita slice which was very good: flat crust with a bit of chew. Perfect. The front case had several specialty slices (eg slices with rigatoni on top). The table shared apps of calamari and rice balls. Both were delicious and served piping hot. I'd definitely stop by again when in town. read more

A Must-Try Local Gem! We stopped in and tried a variety of slices -- plain, eggplant, pepperoni, white, and the most amazingly delicious margherita pie. Every single one was fantastic, made with the freshest ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors. The margherita in particular really stood out -- absolutely bursting with freshness. We also ordered a side of meatballs, which were just as delicious -- tender, flavorful, and served with pieces of homemade bread that were a perfect touch. The quality and care that go into the food here really shine through. I can't wait to go back and try one of their entrées. Pretty good pizza. Maybe the best in Edison Metuchen area. It's hard to park unless you pay in the lot down the block. Dudes behind the counter get overwhelmed if it's busy. if you get slices to go, check the box before you leave to make sure they gave you the correct slices. read more

Momma Mia! This Italiano restaurante was bellisimo. I couldn't leave New Jersey without trying pie ( aka pizza for you southerners). We ordered 4 pies as takeout and it was ready , hot and fast with pickup. Plus, an order of garlic knots with delicious red sauce to dip. Couldn't resist. I ordered a white pizza and the crust was cooked perfectly. Thin and lightly toasted with absolutely no burnt areas .Delicious. I asked for 2 instead of 3 cheeses and they easily accomodated. A margarita pizza with the right amount of red sauce without any extra oil on the pizza was " deliziouso". We ordered a cheese pizza also for the big guys and a 1/2 cheese 1/2 onion and you would have thought they hadn't eaten for days .They devoured the pizza and ate like Jersy boys folding it in half for fun. It was heavenly. The 7 garlic knots were also perfectly cooked and seasoned with the right amount of garlic for us.Those also were devoured in 5 seconds flat. We enjoyed the pizza pies so much we decided to return for a downtown walk at night since it was beautifully lit up for the holidays and made a return visit for dessert. Dario our server gave us exceptional service both visits in 1 night I might add for sfogliatelle. A light thin lobster tail shaped pastry filled with with a delicate candied Citron and ricotta cheese . My traveling partner/ yelpie and his family have Italian roots .His mom even said the red sauce was definitely made like an "Italian mia" The owners are from Italy, so no wonder the food was absolutely bellisimo and mouth watering. Authentic New Jersey pie aka pizza. Bellissimo. I couldn't have thought to visit mia Familia without checking out some authentic Italian jersey pizza pie. A short walk to downtown Metuchen brought the most familiar and incredibly tasty pie I've had in years. Four pies for six people was enough to fill us up and have some for later. We ordered a margherita 16 inch pie, one half onion half cheese and one cheese pie. They were cooked to perfection. They have a great selection of specialty pies for every taste. This Jersey boy stuck to the traditional pizza pie and it did not disappoint. Beautiful new restaurant with an ample dine in area. I went here with a party of seven people. I am vegan and gluten free and the others are not. Our table immediately got baskets of warm bread assortments and bowls of olives. The bread looked so delicious but I am gluten free so I just looked at the bread and had a few olives. Everyone said the bread tasted good! I was pleased when I got served my side salad that came with my meal. The salad contained red peppers, cucumbers, artichokes and red onion. I also added on the assorted olives that came out with the warm bread. I never get a side salad that is detailed and delicious. My pasta was gluten free and simply made with marinara sauce but I had them add red peppers and it tasted delicious! Others in my party had seafood and sandwiches and all were pleased. Overall, we said we loved the food and service and would come back. We are actually returning this weekend with a party of 18. I would also like to note that they are very accommodating to large parties like ours. That day we had seven but this time I called and they said they can accommodate my large party of 18. I stopped by this busy pizza place in Metuchen today and bought 3 slices of pizza. One Sicilian topped with eggplant and tomato, 1 Melanzane, and 1 vegetable slice. The vegetable slice was the best one! It was delicious! It was well seasoned too! The Melanzane was very good, but the crust was very dry to that one. The Sicilian topped with eggplant and tomato was good, but I was expecting a little more flavor in the sauce to that one. Given all the stellar pizza in this part of town for years now (and all the hype behind this place in particular), most of the slices at Che in comparison seemed pretty okay. The main event was their Campagna, literally drenched in prosciutto. A sight to behold with a perfect balance of flavor. So nice and appreciated. The inside is really cute and vibey too, we didnt sit but got pick up and loved the inside. Its pretty new since they just opened. We got the pizza with a few toppings and vegan cheese. At first we really wanted the garlic knot crust but it came out to $43 for a pie which is not in our budget, maybe when we're able to spend that we will order that since it looks amazing. What a hidden gem! Quick and easy, with great food items--especially the insanely good paninis. The variety is vast, and the service is amazing. The gentleman serving us was very kind and simple, and the lady who hosted was exceptional too. They were very kind and left us alone, which we appreciated. The ambiance was chic, with nice outdoor dining. The outside seating area was simple but cute, and the nearby downtown area of Metuchen is bustling and nice, yet very calm. There's a parking deck nearby that's easy to navigate and find. This is the perfect spot, and the food was insanely good and really hit the spot. The prices are awesome too. I really wanted to love this place as I have not yet to find a favorite pizza spot in the middlesex county. While the customer service here is excellent, the food was just so so. I was not impressed because the ingredients didn't taste as fresh as it looked. It was a bit too greasy for my liking. I asked to have procuitto on mine and the worker was nice enough to accommodate. But it just tastes like regular ham lol. The one thing that threw me off is when I placed an order over the phone, I asked how much my total was and I was told $25. Great. I went to pick it up and it was $30. Which is not a big deal since I was going to tip $5 anyways but I don't like surprises lol. Overall, pizza and garlic knots were just not worth it. I wasn't satisfied. I don't think jersey pizza can ever top ones from the city but this was nowhere in the ballpark read more

I've been a very happy customer of Che Pizza since its original opening. I've eaten here many times and used them for catering several times. Earlier this year there was an ownership change. The food is still good, with the exception of the non shrimp seafood. That was always too fishy for my taste. But since the new ownership, the service has suffered. There are issues with communication within the restaurant and when calling in. The last time I was there, they brought out a few peoples order first and then we had to wait about 1/2 hour until the rest of the food came out. I have had takeout orders that were not correct. All this should be fixable. I spoke with someone named Nino who said he was going to fix these issues. Well so far I see no change. The original owners built up a lot of goodwill with their excellent customer service. I hope that the new owners don't let that slip away. Hire more help and people that can communicate with your customer base. I want a reason to keep coming back, I'll will give you another chance and hope I see improvement. read more

Che used to be amazing. It's been going downhill a bit, but we were still ordering takeout from them. Not any more. The pizza just isn't good. We like the Melanzane, which used to be delicious, but now the eggplant is just fried breadcrumbs, the cheese is cheap, and there is no flavor. The other dishes were disappointing as well. From their plain pizza, or grandma slice alone, you taste a fresh mozzarella quality that transports you to Naples Italy. That is where the chefs are from. I can't recommend enough other flavors they have. The calamari pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, and garlic knots crust slice. Even in their garlic knot you taste an olive oil so good. Try their chicken cutlet subs. Literally tastes like what you can immediately get in Hoboken, NJ. A nice baguette that is soft and accompanies the lightly fried texture of the chicken cutlet. That chicken cutlet is made to order too. You don't get a leftover chicken cutlet taken from the side! CHE bomb. What is a che bomb? It is a delicious garlic rubbed focaccia chicken cutlet sandwich. You get a good taste of the crisp chicken cutlet with melted mozzarella, lathered with vodka sauce. A good vodka sauce where you taste the vodka and not mostly heavy cream. However they make their dough and source the ingredients, they are doing it right. This isn't a place copying American Italian cuisine, rather it's a refreshing native Italian's take that adds to the diversity of Central NJ restaurants. Do check them out! Che pizza was awesome! We were in the area, so decided to try it. We sat at a table outside in the courtyard. The courtyard is in a nice open area, with a nice ambience. We were pleasantly surprised to be served a very nice bread basket with olives, saucy bread, garlic bread and butter. A perfectly fresh bread basket that left nothing to be desired. The service was excellent. We ordered the meat calzone, avocado salad and fettuccini tre Funghi. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The pasta actually came with a salad, so we wrapped up our avocado salad. As well, the prices are very reasonable! I can't wait to go back and try the pizza. read more

Tonight was our first time doing outdoor dining at this place. I still stand by my original review but our waiter tonight was not the best waiter to say the least. He is in the wrong field or needs more training. We had to remind him multiple times for what we asked for and he was not attentive. We ended up going inside and getting things ourselves .....because if we didn't, we would still be there. I will give this place another shot to dine there but hope to have a better experience with our waiter.
