First timer . Good location . Very close to RT 1 ... it is placed perfect close to other shops too - like Walgreens , Manhattan bagels etc. wanted to pick a couple of slices of pizza for lunch . Lots and lots of parking available outside the restaurant . There is also good seating facilities inside to dine in. Interiors were ok but it's of tables inside . Pizza was actually good . Very thin and kinda crispy and nicely made . My kid loved it and finished it all. Service was also good. Guy was very friendly and was able to give the order in less than 5 mins . Price wise it was ok. Not too expensive and not too cheap :). Costed me about 6-7 $ for a couple of slices which wasn't bad . Thought of giving 4 stars but this place deserves a 5 star . read more

I travel into NY and NJ periodically. When I do I like to grab some known foods of that area. I love NY / NJ Italian food, pizza and bagels. This restaurant was ok but I would not consider it a NJ pizza stop. The pizza slices did not look very fresh. When in Jersy , have to order some local pie . (aka pizza) This is our 2nd time ordering delivery/ takeout from Tony' s and it came at the perfect time as we just came off the plane . Our order: half cheese half onion apparently is a big Jersy thing.Although I typically like a crust that is a little less toasty and a bit less cheese, it still was what I would expect from a NJ pizza. Their garlic rolls were the bomb and were served with a rich , slightly salted red sauce. We also ordered a traditional meatball sub that was scarfed down in less than 5 min by the family.It was a footlong and they said could have used a bit more red sauce .I missed trying that one since gave up red meat years ago. Came here while waiting for my wife to finish her mani/pedi. It has an old-school vibe the moment you walk in. The guy at the front needs to smile cause. Lol. It felt like he didn't want to be there. From being ignored, to being referred to indirectly using terms like 'mi ciela' in a clearly derogatory tone, I felt unsafe and humiliated. Not the same. The store, furnishings, decorations are identical (purchase was lock, stock and barrel, I guess?) but that's where resemblances end. These new owners are friendly, that's for sure. And the place looked cleaner than I have ever seen since our first of many visits these last 10 years. These reasons justify my two stars. However, there is definitely a language barrier despite sincerest attempts. And regrettably, most importantly, the food is blah at best. My chicken cutlets were rock hard and flavorless. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but having to gnaw on the main protein was exhausting. All of the pizza looked old and dead. We weren't interested in trying them, even though our tradition is to have a plain slice while looking at the menu. I guess that's how it explains two tables in front for slices and two small families in back when it's smack dab in the middle of lunch hour on a weekend. So I stop in to get a slice now I know I will take some flack for ordering Hawaiian pizza but I like it I don't like that it was in the oven so long that it felt like day old bread not pizza at all. Tried this place out for the first time- we got Grandma's pizza and wings. Wings were great! Seasoning was Grandma pizza was well seasoned, but needed to be cooked longer. There was a lot of oil on it and it soaked the bottom of the box. It also made the pizza very soggy. Not sure if it was just the Grandma style pizza that we got, that is like that. read more

It's apparent that there are new owners. The red sauce is much different and definitely NOT better, it's tastes like tomato paste. It's too bad because the food used to be good. Never loved the pizza. The wait staff is absolutely awful and it's obvious that they are NOT trained. We've been 3-4 times now and it's been disappointing each time. We went Saturday night for dinner and received silverware in a paper bag , no napkins (I had to get up and get them for our table) and we had to send one of our dinners back. I had the Veal Parm with Shrimp Parm and Spaghetti. The Veal was bland and had a funny taste to it which might have been from old oil. The Shrimp Parm was also not good. I must admit the spaghetti and sauce was very good. My wife had the Chicken Parm which was just ok! The salad that came with the meal was very skimpy and was disappointing. The bread was the highlight but I didn't come for the bread. The pizza is just average. I know this place has been here for a long time and is in a great location but I will never go back to eat here again. We had this restaurant provide us with a spaghetti dinner for 5 people. They did a splendid job! We requested sausage and meatballs, which they layered on the tray of spaghetti. Along with a beautiful garden salad, two types of dressing, two loaves of garlic bread and extra loaves of plain bread. I've always been a huge fan of their meatballs but finally after many years eating here, I had their sausage. The sausage is just as awesome as their meatballs. Stopped in for a quick slice with my boyfriend. He got a slice of chicken parm and a slice of pepperoni and I got a slice of chicken parm and a slice of white. Overall, the pizza is flavorless to be honest. I added salt and pepper to my pizza just to give it some kind of flavor on top of red pepper flakes. I eat a lot of pizza. I was totally let down. I chose Tony's great things about this place. When I arrived at exactly the time they had said to get there, They had given my pizza to somebody else. The guy then looked at the pies on the oven and gave me someone else's pie. I knew that there was an issue when the box was cold. Sure enough when I went to eat the pizza it was cold as well. The worst part is they are over priced I paid $16 for a cold cheese pizza. No toppings just a plain cheese pizza. Ridiculous. It had been a long time since I'd been. The place still looks the same from what I can remember of it. Honestly I don't really care what it looks like. Is the pizza good? Yes, it is. A plain slice is always my first slice. I always get at least one. Along with that I had a slice with chicken, red sauce and ricotta. I'm a sucker for ricotta on a slice of pizza. Tony's is 100% the BEST pizza available in this area. Yeah, there's plenty places that serve good pizza, but this place? PERFECTION! I've lived most of my life in the Edison area, but have lived around the country and traveled this country and the world, having had pizza all over the place. What makes Tony's so great is that they serve exactly what one would expect from a pizza joint in the NY metro area. I love all kinds of pizza, but when it comes to Tony's, my favorite is just a plain pie because I can't find one like it anywhere in this area these days. One would think that something as simple as dough, sauce and cheese would be easy, but it is not easy, and it's something they have been doing perfectly for years! The beautiful thin crust, the tangy and slightly sweet sauce, the fresh, nicely portioned cheese on top. A perfect balance of sauce and cheese. It brings me back to the way every pizza place used to be around here, back in the 70's,80's and even some of the 90's. These days there's so many places focused on fancy and crazy toppings, which I all Love, but sometimes you want just a good jersey pizza. I've had pizza throughout Italy and, although one should never compare pizza in Italy to pizza outside of Italy, Tony's is right up there with them when it comes to quality and tradition! I highly recommend eating pizza right away, preferably at the restaurant, so that the steam of the box doesn't take away from the beautifully crispy crust. I'll actually drive home with the top of the box open just to keep it crispy if I order a pie to take home. Their other items are great, but the pizza is AMAZING. Sometimes when I travel I come home craving their pizza, what I call a REAL pizza, because I've had so many horrible ones in my travels. The customer service is ok, and maybe once in a while the older owners may be a little grumpy, but I know from firsthand experience that serving central jersey folk in a restaurant can make ANYONE grumpy, especially if you're around hot ovens all day. My experience with serving the public in restaurants has shown me that I'm surprised there aren't more grumpy restaurant owners out there! Also, hey, it's jersey, come here for the great food but don't expect us to kiss your bottom! After all, it's the food that's important! In 1973 when I lived in Edison I had to drive to South Plainfield to get good Pizza from Tony's. Then they opened this store a couple miles from my house. I live in DC and when driving anywhere near this area I stop for the beat Pizza in NJ. Crust is thin and Edison. The right mix of sauce and cheese. I love this place. Was in the area and hubby was craving pizza. He went to car to get a mask and I went in alone. I walked in and all three workers stopped and stared the older one gave me the meanest look i immediately felt out of place. They older guys starts complaining about something all the while not looking up. PROS: This is a very nice pizzeria! Their place is half restaurant half pizzeria. The menu has a lot on it and the prices are great! The staff is very nice to you and are quick with your meal. The pizza that I ordered tasted great and the place was very clean. CONS: The bathroom was a little beaten up and the restaurant was cramped. OVERALL: This place is great to eat at!
