Have passed by this place but never visited this pizza restaurant.. wanted to try few stuff and I should say - it was awesome . didn't know they also had a restaurant style seating at the back . Great location and lots of parking outside . Lots of other shops around this place . Price is also so genuine . Not crazy expensive and very much affordable. We got a cheese garlic bread for 5$ and it was freakin awesome .. kids loved it . Really super good . Pizzas were good too. Themselves were big and were very tasty . Service was good . Not much of wait time and we got our order quick. Very good experience overall. Thought of giving a 4 , but I think they deserve a 5 star .. read more

I have been ordering my hero's and chicken finger platters from here for many years ... consistently hot, fresh and delicious!

This place is a tried and true favorite. Since I was in grade school, my family used to take me for their Monday pasta night and Wednesday steak night, and the quality and price truly has not changed much, even if other restaurants seemed to be struggling with Covid-flation. The steak night meal is what I stopped for this time around, which includes a side salad or soup, free bread rolls (truly the BEST around - pillowy, warm, crusty, and delicious) and a delmonico steak with decadent roasted potatoes. The potatoes are seasoned with rosemary and other herbs and are a nice crispy side to a perfectly cooked steak. It is good to note that the ribeye steaks are a bit on the fattier, which makes it just more succulent for me. After tax and tip, its just around $20 per person, an absolute STEAL! Sal, the owner, is constantly around helping and checking in, and the other wait staff is a truly kind lady who is very attentive as well. The specials are available in the seated portion of the restaurant, right behind the sliding doors of the pizzeria. The ambiance is quite refined, as they have remodeled in recent years, so expect some industrial-vineyard-esque styling with cool, neutral tones. Parking is plentiful, even with the constantly busy LA Fitness next door. Definitely worth the trip to come support your local pizzeria/italian restaurant! read more

DO NOT let the entrance and strip mall location fool you! This place is OUTSTANDING. Try the balsamic calamari or pomodoro mussels to start (gonna need extra bread to dip in the sauce it's soooo good). Service was great. Chef actually came out to talk to us! This place hasn't changed one bit !! They are still serving up great dishes and the staff is great . We use to come here almost every week when we lived in edison but now we are all the way in Bridgewater so not as convenient but definitely worth making the trip out here to have it . The calamari is cooked to perfection, pastas are good size portions and that chicken focaccia sandwich is my husbands favorite . My family and I happened upon Carmen's Trattoria somewhat accidentally after a different Italian restaurant we had planned to go to (that some family members drove over 30 minutes to get to) ended up being in the midst of renovating their kitchen and was only serving pizza. Talk about a happy accident, though! Carmen's ended up being the perfect spot for our family dinner. We had a Jersey born family friend visiting from Colorado, who had been lamenting the lack of authentic Italian places out there, so expectations were high for this dinner and Carmen's did not disappoint. The dining room in the back has a subtle rustic ambience, the service from Sal, the owner, was superb, and the food was delicious! Even my Pop-Pop (who is from Italy and was an award winning professional chef) raved about it, which is no small feat. The bread was piping hot, right out of the oven, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the butter was room temperature, not frozen, so it could easily be spread. The calamari appetizer was devoured in moments and my seafood loving husband said it was some of the best he has had. For the main entrees, I had the chicken francese (my go to Italian order) and the sauce was the best I have ever had. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly too. My Pop-Pop ordered the classic spaghetti and meatballs and loved the red sauce, saying he could taste how fresh it was, as well as the generously sized meatballs. All the pasta dishes were cooked perfectly Al dente and the cheese sauce in my mom's fettuccini Alfredo was the optimum blend of cheesy and creamy. The prices are incredibly reasonable, as are the portion sizes. The biggest plus, though, was the service from Sal. The night we went, their dining room server was out, but rather than turn us away from seated dining, the owner himself served as our waiter. He was very helpful, friendly, and welcoming to all of us. The staff even stayed a bit late for us to enjoy our meals without feeling rushed. We will most certainly be back to check out some of the great specials Sal told us about, and are already planning to bring more family and friends for the next visit. read more

We recently moved to Edison and ordered pizza from Carmen's..... delicious! While talking to Sal the owner he mentioned that Monday night was pasta night.... all entrees $10.95. So, we finally got the chance to go on "pasta night"...... let me tell you..... it was so delicious! Everything is fresh made to order, big portions & fresh home made warm bread! The hospitality there is second to none! The server "Renee" has been working there for 10 years and really knows her stuff! Very efficient and couldn't be nicer! I wanted to have a baby shower for my daughter-in-law and decided to have "Carmen's" cater the food. Everything was so good! From the 6' sub, to their signature honey balsamic wings, salad, pizzas.........and the beautiful custom made "cupcake baby carriage"! We decided to make reservations to eat there the following day for Mother's Day. They had a special menu and we ordered surf & turf & scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection! This place is a hard no for me. We decided to try a different pizza place and the food was not very good. We ordered an anti pasta salad, calamari, and a pepperoni pizza. The anti pasta salad was very unappetizing. String beans that were marinated in something I couldn't pin point but wouldn't recommend. Pizza was flavorless. Sal is a wonderful owner of this Italian Restaurant and really truly cares about his customers. Sal helped us and walked us through the preparation of our son's baptism and went above and beyond on the day of my son's baptism. Everything was perfect and me and my husband didn't even sweat on the preparation. We went to the dinner reception and everything looked marvelous! From the details to the exceptional customer service! Our guests/family raved from the pastas to the main course and desserts! Oh and Everybody had such a great time! Love this place! The workers are really nice and polite, and they always deliver right at the time they say they will be here. The food always comes hot and fresh. Their prices are great too. Been ordering from here for years. I love that they have an 18" large pie while most peoples large pies are only 16". He's not the cheapest place but the quality of food is very good hence it's good value. l hate when idiots complain about a price rise of 50 cents and leave negative reviews I think those reviews should be removed. I am in business and my prices are slightly higher than my peers, but the quality of work is second to none and I get very few call backs. After a bad pizza experience I needed a pallet cleanser and wanted something right out of the oven. We headed over here with the baby on a Sunday around noon, and there were limited options in the pre-made window. They had enough to keep our interests, and the pies were fresh, so we sat down with what they had- pepperoni, sausage and an onion/pepper. First, we got asked if we wanted them out of the over because they were fresh. I love that crunch right out, so we asked them to throw them back in for us. Unfortunately, we never got that crunch. I don't know whats up with the crust, but it never got that crisp and stayed floppy at the tip. That said, tasty sauce and cheese. I also liked the toppings, wife wasn't a fan of the green peppers. She thought they tasted pickled, my guess was they came in a can and picked up a weird flavor. Overall, not the worst and not the best pizza I've ever had. read more

Have used them for several years and always made the sandwich the same way I call a order and was told they couldn't make it that way because they way the cooked simple request to add peppers to half and was told no in a way not appreciated but no problem The manager behind the counter wasn't the normal one paid and waited after 15 minutes asked about my order and was told a couple minutes after another 15 minutes asked again and was told they burned the first one but the original order was 15 minutes, so after 40 minutes asked for my money back. We got a large sausage onion and pepper pizza from here and everybody enjoyed it. It was about $23-$25 and fed 5 people with leftovers. There was a good amount of cheese and toppings and the crust was soft enough to fold but strong enough to hold all the toppings without any issues. read more

On Monday's Pasta Night this place is 5 stars. However when I stray from the pasta dishes, the results have been very mixed. Hence , an overall 4. I've been going there since the place opened, which is at least one and probably more owners back, yet no matter who is there, everyone is warm and friendly. While my all-time favorite server Regina isn't there anymore, my man Mike is top notch too. My wife has eaten eggplant parm just about every place in the NY-NJ area and swears it's the best here. I will agree that they do it well. I'm a big fan of the manicotti and stuffed shells. On Mondays, for $10, including soda, salad, & pasta entree you cannot go wrong. Their bread is great too. Like I said before, my only thing is I try to stay to the basics when I'm here. When I go when it's not Pasta Night, I usually order the chicken parm and like it. read more

To sum up this review, the pizza here is just okay. - I ordered the 10" Plain Pie which wasn't at all oily, which is a great thing, but there wasn't much else to it. The pizza itself didn't have any flavor that stuck out, which made it seem very bland. - If you want to add toppings, it's an extra $1.25 per topping In addition, they have a strict policy on accepting credit cards--unless your order is over $10, you must pay cash. If you just want pizza, there's definitely better places to go. I can't speak to the other menu items offered here, but those seem to be more of the selling point. read more

Sal was amazing in the planning of the menu for my daughter's wedding shower. We had a nautical theme and Sal went over and above delivering an antipasto in the shape of an anchor. The food was delicious and plentiful. Due to Covid, I didn't want to handle dessert by cutting a cake. Sal came up with the idea of cupcakes in the shape of an anchor In the bridal party colors. I also just found out that they deliver, which excites me more than it probably should. Exceptional food, service and prices. Was in the area, did not feel like cooking and decided last minute to give this place a try. The gentleman who answered and took my order was so accommodating and pleasant. Perfect start. Yummy ...We were rushing to make a train at MetroPark. The fresh salad and warm bread, soft bread and crusty rolls with both butter or garlic infused olive oil (so you know it good italian!) came out right away. We finished it, and soon the ENORMOUS portions of Eggplant Parmigiana and Chicken Parm over spagetti were put before us. It was so good. The key is great sauce and this was.
