(1) OVERVIEW:
CHASE TASTE BUFFET (166- Jamaica Ave) is a casual Chinese-American AYCE buffet restaurant, owned and operated by the local Chinese people. This is one of two CHASE TASTE BUFFET restaurants near the Jamaica Center - Parsons/Archer subway station (E, J, Z lines) in Queens, New York (this one is slightly far away from the another one). It is a medium large size establishment with all solid black dining tables with 4 chairs spaciously placed. (No small tables for 2 people.) They serve the AYCE BUFFET LUNCH and AYCE BUFFET DINNER every day (except Saturday and Sunday with dinner buffet all day long).
NOTE: For more information about the another CHASE TASTE BUFFET (149-21 Jamaica Ave), please read and compare my review here in yelp.
(2) FOODS: DINNER: VARIETY & QUALITY: 2 STARS
This CHASE TASTE BUFFET also offers a wide range of hot cooked foods, limited fresh vegetables, only one fresh fruit (orange), canned fruits, and cake (hot & cold, one each). I enjoyed the rich BBQ Pork (could be softer), flavorful General Tao's Chicken, and tender Pepper Beef. These are nicely cooked with big flavors like any other AYCE buffet restaurants. Their dinner's hot foods also include several seafood.
NEVERTHELESS, SADLY, THEIR FRIED SHRIMPS, FRIED FISH FILLET, ONION RINGS WERE OVERCOOKED AND EXTREMELY HARD JUNKS. I WAS NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I understood why this restaurant got such a bad reviews here in the yelp. They really have to fix this big mess immediately.
QUALITY CONTROL: REALLY BAD
The foods here were constantly refilled and freshly mixed (so that the foods at the top will NOT dried up) by the very attentive kitchen lady at this CHASE TASTE BUFFET. NEVERTHELESS, AS STATED ABOVE, THOSE FRIED FOODS WERE SO POORLY COOKED AND BARELY EDIBLE.
SOFT DRINKS ARE INCLUDED:
This CHASE TASTE BUFFET also offers you a variety of free drinks, including Pepsi, diet Pepsi, lemonade, hot green tea, and etc. For my dinner here, I had the lemonade. This location does NOT serve any sliced lemon at all, believe it or not! What a joke! So, I used the sliced orange for decorating my drinking glass on my dining table. (See my attached photos.)
DINING TIME LIMIT: VERY STRICT:
The dining time is limited to ONE HOUR, AS THE WRITTEN SHEET POSTED AT THE WALL OF EVERY SINGLE DINING TABLE. The cashier man came and told me I can not have any more additional foods from the food station, when I was eating my last dessert dish. It was only 5 minutes passed the one hours here. SO, BE EXTRA AWARE YOUR DINING TIME LIMIT HERE.
TAKE OUT FOODS:
This restaurant is also available for the take out (Pay-per-pound Buffet business) by the locals. They have several different per-pound rates (this is very common at any pay-per-pound buffet establishments). They are exactly the same as the another location. Specifically, THIS CHASE TASTE BUFFET HAS SIX DIFFERENT TAKE OUT FOOD RATES based on the sizes and the types of foods you want to take home :-)
(3) SERVICES:
My used dirty dishes were removed from my dining table swiftly by the waitress. The lemonade came with a little ice (despite the fact it was a very hot summer day), so that I had to ask more ice during my meal. When it was NOT busy (only 20% table occupancy), the front cashier man kindly took a photos for me. He was very strict about the 60 minutes dining time for everyone, even it was not a busy time of the day!
(4) MOOD/AMBIANCE
This CHASE TASTE BUFFET is also a casual dining establishment for everyone. It is NOT a fancy, romantic, overly decorated, pricey establishment. Nevertheless, as I have shown in my photographs here, their solid black dining tables with 4 chairs were so nice :-)
BATHROOMS: This CHASE TASTE BUFFET has two mixed bathrooms with wheelchair accessible settings. One was "out of order" when I had a dinner.
(4) ALERT: PAYMENT:
YOU CAN PAY BY YOUR CREDIT CARD BUT THE HIDDEN ADDITIONAL CHARGE WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR BILL. SO, BE AWARE. (See my photo of the receipt.) My Chinese-American AYCE Buffet dinner (after 3 PM) was $11.60 including the tax, 15% top and the hidden credit card charge.
NOTE 1: Just as the another CHASE TASTE BUFFET's dinner, this location also did NOT serve any soups, or ice creams. So, at your dining table, the only eating utensils you get is a dinner fork. They also do NOT have any paper napkin dispensers on their dining tables here.
NOTE 2: I always bring my own eating utensils and drinking glasses for me.)
NOTE 3: As of today (August 11, 2018), this CHASE TASTE BUFFET (166-26 Jamaica Ave) has only 3 reviews with the rating 1/5 stars. The another CASE TASTE BUFFET (149-21 Jamaica Ave) has 20 reviews with the rating 4 stars. THESE TWO RESTAURANTS' GAP IS HUGE AND I AGREE WITH THOSE YELPERS!
