This is my second visit to charming so I thought they'd do a great job on my nails for my bday weekend like they did the firs time. That was a no. The dude who did my mani/pedi acted as if he didn't want to do it. He did a poor job painting my toes and when I said I didn't like it, he rushed the color change. They also charged me extra for some reason. I'm guessing they thought I disliked the color. I liked the color, it was the rushed paint job. My gel mani is horrible too. I was ready to get out of there so I didn't complain about it. However, I won't be returning. One day later and the gel nail polish has chipped. I'm so upset. It takes me at least an 1.5 hr to get to Georgetown so me returning to get this fixed is a pain and the weather is bad. I probably won't make it, which means I will either go on my bday trip with chipped nail polish or pay someone else to take it off entirely. I really just want my money back, but it's their policy to never refund customers. The manager messaged me on here & offered 20% off my next service as if I'd go back there. I absolutely am in love with Charming Nails! I've been to several different nail salons all over DC/VA/MD, with all fairly the same experience. Decent and got the job done. Although as someone like myself who's a perfectionist (especially when it comes to wanting something that I've envisioned), Charming Nails is definitely the place to go to! I first started coming about a half a year ago, and stopped because I found another place right next to where I work (so I went there essentially for convenience). Although after about 2 to 3 appointments, they started to get really comfortable with their service and me as a customer and started slacking off (they'd make a mistake and when I'd ask them to fix it, they'd get mad at me?). After finally getting tired of spending an exorbitant amount of money for poor results, I decided to finally come back to Charming Nails- and the only thing I regretted was not coming back sooner! When I came back, I called in to make an appointment and the person who answered the phone was extremely nice and friendly, and when I asked her about who was best with SNS, she mentioned Helen. Since then, I've strictly been going to her! Not only do I trust her opinion with my nails, but I also have a reoccurring appointment with her every 3 weeks! As I mentioned before, I'm a perfectionist, and when I showed her pictures of what I wanted, she gave her honest opinion about what she thought (if it would good on me), that she could definitely do it, but also gave me another alternative. While in the beginning I was a little disappointed, the results of my nails were spectacular! Essentially, she recommended that instead of cutting of my natural nails to do tips, and shape them very thin (ballerina coffin), she said I had beautiful natural nails, and instead: should just keep them as they were, and she'd work with that. Throughout each appointment, Helen is very meticulous and detailed, something I was very surprised about (because it's hard to find a really good technician like this), and I was more than pleased! She's also a nail technician that actually listens to what you want! I'm also asked if I'd like to keep my length, and each time I say yes... which for some reason- always ends up being trimmed/filed down more than I'd like. Although when Helen asked me if I'd like to keep my length and I said yes, she actually listened and only filed a little bit! So to anyone who's looking for SNS being done, I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HELEN! You will NOT be disappointed! read more

*It's unfortunate to see a business owner take such a condescending and defensive approach to an unbiased review of the services I received at this location. Not only is he condescending and rude, but he refers to me as a 'princess' for expecting a business to keep their location clean and amenable to patrons. Undeniably, derogatory. If anything, this type of response does more of a disservice to their business, further proving the lack of good customer service, than it does to amend the situation. Many of the issues I cited below could be easily resolved with additional oversight and increased communication with staff. I will absolutely never return here again, and will go out of my way to deter future patrons from ever receiving service at this salon. I'm not sure why this place has so many good reviews.. I went here yesterday to get a pedicure and was instantly turned off: 1. No AC- it was so uncomfortable. I was DYING. It was so hot. 2. There's not much of a nail polish selection, and most of the nail polish seems old. 3. I noticed that I wasn't given the same pedicure as my friend even though we asked for the same. She got an extra scrub with a foot scraper (to remove dead skin). I didn't. There was no foot massage. Not hot towels. It was beyond basic. 4. The bathroom is disgusting! And, their plumbing is 'sensitive', so it backs up... 5. The nail techs were rude when I walked in. I arrived before my friend and instead of welcoming me they instantly snapped at me asking if I had an appt. When my friend wasn't immediately there at 630p for our appt they acted annoyed. It just wasn't good customer service. 6. The place is dingy.. Ugh I didn't have a good experience here and it's annoying to pay close to $40 for a basic pedicure.. I won't be coming back. read more

Several walk ins could not be accommodated. Best prices in town. I'm happy I've found my new go to lady in Helen. I came here on a Wednesday evening with my sister and had such a relaxing experience! I'm only giving them three stars, but keep in mind I've only been here once. The space is VERY small and I can't imagine what it would be like being here during their busiest times; thankfully on a Wednesday at about 6:00ish there were only two other women here. It did get busier as the evening went on (closing was 7:30). The leg massage alone during the pedicure made the whole thing worth it! They used an exfoliating scrub from the knee down which just about put me to sleep. Their color selection was large, and I only looked at regular polish as opposed to gel. Once my pedicure was finished I loved the color so much that I decided to get a quick manicure as well. One of the women who worked there had an open station, so I asked if it would be possible to add a manicure. She didn't even try to hide her annoyance with me, which made the whole experience kind of awkward. Thankfully I had a different technician for the pedicure who was SO kind, so my first impression was a good one. With paying cash it was about $35 for both a manicure and pedicure, which isn't bad considering they are in Georgetown. I really enjoyed my regular manicure at Charming nails. I've tried multiple nail salons around the georgetown area, and this is one of the top I've been to. The place is very small - 3 manicure stations and 3 pedicure stations but so many nail colors and brands. The employees were very friendly and the atmosphere was calming and relaxing. An amazing policy they have here is the fact that if your gel manicure chips within the first two weeks, they fix it for you at no cost! The only downfall with my one experience from this nail salon is that my nails actually DID chip within 2 days and the color of my nails suddenly changed to something completely different? A few weeks ago, my sister decided it was time my chewbacca feet and Freddy claws get tended to and I also have some downtime for self care. what I thought was going to be a typical, just like anywhere, pedicure for me, turned out not to be the case. I received the caveman pedicure, which pays exclusive attention to detail to the feet of a person who is on them day by day and does not get regular maintenance. from cleaning my toes, to the massage, to the clean tools and comforting chair and delicacy to my feet, I was in bliss. Sophia ensure I was at ease in every way. The wax treatment to soften my feet also was cream of the crop! But it doesn't stop there. just when I thought it was over, out come the hot stones. Game changer. Standard set. Who knew my calves and shins needed such love and care? Some things that I always look for when going to a new place to get my nails done are: good customer service (the ladies/men were nice and welcoming), cleanliness, and decent pricing. Fortunately, this place was all three! I suggest making an appointment here just because the place is pretty small and there are only a select few pedicure seats as well as manicure stations. I made an appointment and was accommodated at the exact time. I was persuaded to get another gel manicure and my manicurist did a great job. She was friendly and paid close attention to detail. The best part about getting a gel manicure here is that they have a 2 week guarantee! They provide you with a card that states the date you got your nails, the gel color, and who did it! So if your nails aren't holding up you can get them fixed at no charge! It ended up being $35 for my manicure but I'd definitely come back! read more

I love love love this place! I am super picky when it comes to beauty treatments, but Charming nails did not disappoint. Be forewarned that it is a really small salon, with not a lot of frills. But if you are simply going to get your nails done, its perfect. Ever since I moved to DC, I have been looking for a nail salon that does a really good job on gels, and didn't charge $50+ and this is the place! They take their time doing your nails, and do not rush at all. A gel manicure is also only $30 which is pretty cheap for the area. He acknowledged what went wrong during my visit and that the way I was treated wasn't okay. I came to Charming Nails with a friend to get an SNS manicure and regular pedicure before my wedding. I had never been to this salon before but my friend had and recommended it, plus I wasn't happy with the previous salon I had been using and wanted to try a new place. Charming Nails has great reviews so coming here seemed like a great idea! Initially, the staff were super friendly, were high-fiving me for getting married in two days, and were trying to help me choose colors. I mentioned I wasn't sure if I wanted a French dip mani or a solid color. My friend found a white sparkly color and I was concerned it was too white. Cindy, who was doing my nails, told me to trust her and not to worry-she had a neutral color she could put under the sparkle (at least that is what I understood). She starts shaping my long and grown out nails. I asked her to trim them because SNS lasts a long time and my nails grow fast- I didn't want to start out with them already being long. She tried to tell me that for my wedding I should leave them long, but I stood my ground and asked her to trim them. When she shaped them, she never asked what shape I wanted, and she was making them very square. I asked if she could round out the corners a little to give them a more natural shape, and her tone totally changed from the friendly, jolly person who welcomed me into the store. It was very clear she was flustered with me and didn't want me to tell her how I wanted my nails. It was very off putting and made me nervous to make further comments about what I didn't like- and this was my wedding manicure! She did the neutral color for the base after giving me a hard time for not trusting her, and was about to do a top coat when I mentioned the sparkle part and she acted as if we had agreed to not do the sparkle- there was definitely a miscommunication. So she added the sparkle, and I noticed towards the end that a few of my nails on my left hand (the more important hand for a wedding!) were SUPER splotchy. Like there were bald spots without any color in the middle of my nail. I said something about my thumb and she huffed and puffed, reluctantly tried to fix it. Didn't even check the other nails (and there were more that were also splotchy). At that point my friend and I had been in the salon for two hours, I was afraid to say anything more based on how I was treated, and I just wanted to leave. My nails look awful. They're splotchy, incredibly thick from the 10 layers of powder and base coat, super square so they look stumpy, and I paid $68 (+20% tip because I wanted to be nice given how the industry has been hit by the pandemic) to be afraid to stand up for my wedding nails. read more

Great little spot with phenomenal service. It's the small things that count, and Kevin and his team seem to fully understand this. A few things that stood out to me when I got my gel manicure: 1) I selected a light pink shade that was somewhat transparent, Kevin noted that this might not be what I wanted and helped me select one that was more opaque and fit my requirements. 2) In advance of putting hands under UV light, the salon slathers SPF 50 on them help protect them from the harmful rays. 3) Kevin took his time and was meticulous with making sure my manicure was high quality. 4) At the end of the manicure, they provide you with a paper guaranteeing the manicure for 14 days, offering free corrections should anything happen. The paper also tells you what color you received to help with any difficulties matching colors. It was truly a great experience and hope they have continued success! read more
