Quality has gone down terribly I had been going here for years. I used the to drive 35 mins away from my home and multiple nail shops closer to me to come here. However the quality has gone town terribly. They now rush through and ensure customers only get 30-mins for service. So if the nail tech isn't skilled they will cut corners to get you out in 30-mins. So the entire time I was being nicked because the nail tech was rushing through with no regard to quality. The guy sitting next to me also commented to his person that they could take their time and didn't have to rush though. This photos was taken after I left the shop getting a gel pedicure!!! While the service was very friendly and I thought my experience was normal, my gel nail polish literally fell off 2 days after I got them done. I paid for a French manicure with gel polish on Thursday - they came off on Saturday. I put my hand in my pocket and felt something in my pocket - it was the nail polish that fell off as whole pieces. Very much not something that should happen with gel nails too. This has never happened to me before and was very expected. Avoid this place at all cost, especially avoid this technician named Anna. First, Anna was rude and unprofessional from the beginning. She was impatient, did not give me time to pick the right color, and demanded me to pay for the entire expense and her tips before she even gave me any service!! Confused at first, but I thought this was their shop policy, so I paid her and gave her a tip for the service she had not yet provided in advance. Then she messed up the entire nail polish and when I asked her to fix it, she walked away, pretending she did not hear it. I then talked to their owner, who explained that their shop does not allow technicians to ask customers to pay in advance before customers even receive any service, and admitted that Anna's behavior was extremely unprofessional, rude, and unacceptable. My advice is: avoid this place because it will ruin your mood and waste your time. read more

Never coming back here -- not only is it always crowded to the point it feels like the staff does not care about doing your nails, but I also got my nails done on Wednesday and it is the following Tuesday and they are completely chipped and awful. Also one of the worst experiences getting my nails done ever, and I've been to so many nail salons. The woman doing my nails looked so uninterested and kept hurting my hands with the electric tool and also cutting way too hard at my cuticles. Horrible experience. I went in with the following pic before the tech started anything. The "finished" product looked nothing like the photo (you could see a nasty yellow line where my natural nail was under the acrylic and the jewels were large and spaced apart and unevenly along my cuticle). When I showed the pic again, I was told "my boss said we don't go off pics" and that I should've picked a color off the wall. I was also told that the sample I showed was of "natural" nails (super not, they're natural looking acrylics). I had to ask to have the messy jewels removed and the set painted over with the colors you see in the second finished product photo--complete with a lopsided shaped nail. To add insult to injury, I was rudely told to "calm down" when I responded to the tech rushing me to pick a color to paint over her crappy job. I wasn't even offered a discount for the hastle. Couldn't recommend this place more! I wanted to wait to write this review until my last day with these nails. I may have gone overboard, but I was truly astonished by how long these lasted. It's been 43 days! I went to see Molly at DC Nail Spa just 5 days after Thanksgiving to get some holiday nails. I came in with a concept: red chrome nails to look like Christmas tree ornaments, and she more than delivered! I trusted her advice to go with red SNS dip powder, tip extensions, red chrome, and a final glassy gel coat. This was more than the basic nude nail I normally do, so I was willing to spend a bit more for these stunning, long lasting results. These nails have lasted me not weeks but months! Went into DC nail spa to get acrylics and was badgered into getting Gel X nails instead. Gel x is essentially press-on nails. I asked my nail tech for "ballerina tip" nails with a chrome finish and the top is speckled, uneven, and already chipping. I got these nails done at a 6:00 appointment and this is what they looked like when I woke up. SO disappointed, especially since the nails cost $96. read more

This business has shady business policies. I'd caution you to read my entire review and then determine wether you want to risk coming here. I came to DC nails on 5/24/24 for a French mani and pedi. This is my second time coming here. I enjoyed my first experience and appreciate that they have a wide variety of polish colors and complementary wine. So why the 1 star? Well, my second experience was unpleasant to say the least. Both my mani and pedi were done by ANNA. She did a decent enough job on my pedi but badly cut my cuticle during my mani. I didn't want to make a big deal about it because she was sweet and I understand accidents happen. However, how I was treated afterwards was unacceptable. She did not acknowledge or even apologize for the injury and when I politely asked for a discount during check out she said "we don't do that" I was in disbelief and asked her again and was again told no. Mind you I handled this situation very calmly given the circumstance. I didn't not raise my voice, I was polite and more than understanding. I asked her if she'd ever gotten her cuticle cut before she said yes and I said it hurts for several days afterwards right and again she said yes but still she refused to offer me a discount. So I just told her to charge me whatever and that I wouldn't leave a tip. I then asked to speak to a manager. The manager was no help at all. She barely looked up from what she was doing and again offered me nothing. I left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and deeply wronged. Again, I understand accidents happen but ton injure someone and offer zero compensation is unacceptable. I will not be returning here and id caution you to think twice before coming here as well. There are several other nail salons on the same street, try one of those before coming here. read more

Beautiful nails!! I've never tried Gel-X before, but I prefer them to acrylic! Very natural looking and strong. This is the first nail salon that hasn't commented on my crooked fingers or burn scarring on my hands. Vivian attended to me and was wonderful at explaining the Gel-X nails to me. She was lovely, lively, and friendly. They fit me in as a walk in. The service included a hand scrub and a steamed towel which was unexpected and felt very fancy! I've always been horrible with my nails, from picking at them to biting them and peeling off gel polish. I had been going to Mimosa on the somewhat rare occasion I would get my nails done, but after a couple lackluster experiences there, recently my coworker told me about DC Nail Spa. I absolutely love it! I've now been here twice to get the dip powder! With no appointment, I was lucky to have Thai as my nail tech. The first time I got dip powder, I got a lovely yellow color that lasted 4 weeks. It would have probably lasted longer if I didn't start picking at them, oops. Anyway, Thai is absolutely lovely and has a great energy and spirit about her. You can ask her anything, and I came in with really bad nails and she fixed them so magically. It's also a very comfortable environment and I can just sit and relax with some complimentary wine. Came here on a Tuesday and paid with cash to get the 5% off. They do get a bit busy so don't expect to be seated right away if you come without an appointment, but they'll do their best to accommodate you. While around $40 is definitely more money than I would usually pay for a mani, it is definitely worth it for the quality and how long it lasts. I will probably be a regular here from now on! And I promise to be better with my nails. :) read more

I asked for square short french tip dip nails. I had originally asked for a blue tip but changed my mind after seeing how bad it looked due to the base color for the french tip. When I asked him to change my french tip color to white he got very upset and told me he wasn't able to do that and would have to completely start my nails over.. I knew this wasn't true and after having a conversation with his boss he removed the color in less than 30 seconds. In addition the base color isn't consistent on both hands. As you can see in the pictures below I left with unevenly shaped poorly painted nails. To top this off I was charged $56 for something that should've been $30-$40. I am extremely upset. I would NEVER come back here and DEFINITELY dont recommend anyone else comes here After reading through most of the bad reviews I notice that there's a trend that people of color get worse service here and I've experienced this myself. I had a subpar pedicure experience here recently. I had some free time and I was in the area so I stopped by to get a pedicure. I was delighted that they took me right aware as a walk-in. That is where my happiness ended. The pedi from start to finish was less than 30 minutes. :-( I was on my phone and not paying attention (which I should have been), so I didn't realize until it was over that she had shaped my toenails without asking me what type of shape I wanted (I usually get square and they were NOT square). I also usually get a minimum of two coats of polish and the polish on my nails this time was opaque so it likely needed another coat. To top it off, I found out at the end that you can only tip in cash; they do not accept tips on credit cards or even venmo. Overall my experience wasn't a good one. I won't be returning. read more

Came here a few times and really enjoyed my first visit. However, my second and third (will be my last) times here we're just alright. The first set of nails I got here were pretty well done, with minor shaping issues on the bottom of the nail. The second set were even worse, although I still liked the red color a lot. They were uneven on the top of the nail and not painted fully on the edges of the nail. My final set from here is absolutely horrible and although I received a discount since they weren't able to do the aura design I wanted, they look like $20 nails. I would have had nicer nails if I went with some press-ons. Overall, this is a pretty good spot for DC, but bad in comparison to salons I've been to out of town. I also think it's a good place to get a basic or natural-looking manicure from, but nothing more from. I will continue to look for a good salon in the area since this just isn't up to par. The staff is really kind though, this just isn't the salon for me or anyone wanting more attention to detail! read more

I get dip powder with Vy every month and it's always perfect but this may be my favorite one yet! Vy is super precise with french tip designs, great at shaping every nail evenly, and the corners never lift even after a month. I also really like that she keeps my natural nails healthy by letting the dip powder soak as much as possible instead of just filing it all off from the start. Only room for improvement is around scheduling -- appointments can start 30-45 mins late on weekends and there's no receptionist so if your nail tech is the one checking people in that day s/he will be interrupted by other customers every few minutes. read more

My FAVORITE nail salon in DC. the nail techs are extremely knowledgeable and patient, the salon is very clean and has a ton of space, and the service is amazing for a good price (while it's a few more dollars than, say, mimosa salon, the finished product DEFINITELY reflects that.) I get top-notch product without having to break the bank. my favorite nail techs are Lynn and Thai, who have both done fantastic jobs on my dip w/ extensions. The first time, I brought in an inspo photo from instagram (dip ombré) and Lynn took the time to help me choose the colors to most closely replicate it. I usually have great experiences here, but I went tonight to get a new gel manicure and had a really frustrating experience. I asked Mary not to cut my nails too short (they were slightly longer than the tips of my fingers before) and to round slightly into an oval shape. She used the coarsest grit nail file both to remove my old gel and to file my nails, resulting in jagged, uneven edges and WAY shorter nails than I asked for. I tried to point out the uneven, lopsided shapes with no luck, and you can see on my ring and pinkie how uneven they are. Polish is great and lasts a long time but unfortunately the shaping and length just ruin the look. EDIT: Polish chipped within a week. read more

The second time, the manager of the salon did my nails and about every minute she was communicating with clients or staff and wasn't attentively watching her work. She was distracted and rushed and had to redo my top coat because she put oil/lotion on too soon. With such high demand for her, she should manage the desk and not do nails. Pro: this salon had the most colors I have ever seen at a salon. A lot of dip options which is rare in DC. Con: distracted, rushed service. Paying extra for cuticle care was a little surprising. I had previously gone to just about every other nail spa in the area and while I may have gotten a satisfactory service a few times, the service was never consistently good.
