I'm new to Rochester area and am enjoying all the local burger joints. Charlie's has quickly become our favorite fast burger joint. A nice gentleman at the counter one day suggested that we order them off the char, great suggestion! Bacon cheeseburger off the char is my go-to order. Recently tried their popcorn chicken with hot sauce. The hot sauce was like a hot sweet and sour, absolutely delicious. Onion rings are pretty tasty too. For a fast/food burger place ... 5 stars. I've passed this location many times, but only recently went here with friends, and was impressed. The place was clean, service was cheerful and fast, and the food was perfect for the genre. Seems very well run. You can't compare this restaurant to the big national burger chains, because the quality is so much better. You order at the counter, but the food is almost diner quality good. If you typically order lunch or dinner at those national chains, give this a try and you might like it here better. read more

Friggin love this place. The burgers are awesome!! The meat sauce is the best in town. I love this place for a quick meal out or a hangover cure on Sunday. Yes, it's greasy. Yes, it's unhealthy. But for real. If you walk in here expecting class out the ass you're in the wrong place honey. We are new to Rochester and we're looking for a good burger place - so happy to say we found one! Flavorful burgers just how you like them, great selection of toppings and super juicy. I love going to Charlie's. Their Charlieburger is the best and they always treat me and my brother well.

I drive all the way from Greece passing up tons of bill grays and hots places to come to this location just for a plate! The staff is always in a good mood even when they are waiting for the food to come out having side convos (which is completely fine not complaining) you can tell they all get along very well and help each other out which is nice to see staff working as a team. I enjoy how when I ask for extra toppings they actually show me and ask if I want more, when I state no meat sauce they have ALWAYS offered if I would like it on the side! (Which I do, I just forget to ask sometimes) LOVE the sweet pickles; they offer sweet pickles and dill pickles! Compared to the one in canadaigua they do have different style "home fries" and I'm not sure why but either way they are still both good! Each time I have came there is always a young tan girl with curly hair in a bun working and she is always very fast taking orders - yet attentive respectful and sweet. Yummy then regrets. So I never eat garbage plates way to greasy and just makes me feel bad afterwards. That being said sister wanted a garbage plates but stated we had to go to Charlies. Charlies met her mac salad standards and boy did they. The mac salad was delicious. For some reason people now how to make a mac salad that just taste disgusting. We shared a 2 cheeseburger garbage plate. I think we together only ate half of it. It was delish greasy and met my Rochester garbage plate standards. read more

It's pretty damn good I hate to say. I am a schaller's girl at heart but it's just too far for this webster girl to go for a burger. Charlie's has been an outstanding supplement. Their burgers are consistent and I love the option for the hard roll instead of that poppy seed (in my teeth) roll. We have ordered their fish fry and it has always been perfect, not greasy at all. One thing that didn't really come out right was my husband ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and it was a fried chicken sandwich with boss sauce - not exactly standard buffalo chicken. I think it may have just been a mistake on a busy night but I wouldn't order it if I were you. We love Charlie's - give it a try if you need a quick meal! read more

There are very few places where you can get a char-broiled burger but Charlie's is one of them. Why anyone would have a grilled burger when you can have char broiled is beyond me. I also love "plates" and Charlie's is one of the biggest plates around, I often get 2 meals out of one. Only issue is that if you do get a plate you HAVE to get it at Charlie's on Empire Blvd. The Charlie's in Ontario just doesn't have the same - or the right - hot sauce. It sounds crazy but, even though each place has 2 different kinds of hot sauce, between those 2 places they don't even share the same plate sauce! Dammit, now I'm hungry. read more

The food style is that you order at the front desk, the cashier yells your order/s to those making the food, you pay, and they give it to you at the stand. You find your own table, and enjoy! The best plate in existence, and it's not close. It's large. The burgers taste like beef. The potatoes are seasoned, as is the mac salad. The sauce has just the right heat. The key point here is that their plate has flavor, and that should not be taken for granted. read more

Grew up on Charlieburgers off the char with dill pickles and "one order" of french fries. My family is so regularly there, our order is memorized by several people at the counter! Meh. That is the gist of my review. I'm not a big bread person but I appreciate yummy rolls. This cheeseburger roll had a million poppy seeds on it and was too thick for my liking. Stopped by here for lunch and thought it was generally just okay. Not sure what the hubbub is all about. They do have a huge menu but it is all very fast foody. I had a bbq chicken sandwich and it was okay. Also got the spicy curly fries and they were alright as well. All in all, this place is fine to go to for a quick cheap lunch. read more

Like others have said...The garbage plates are the best..Their meat sauce my fav...Their portion size...One of the biggest... One of those restaurants that you think nahh let's go somewhere else and still stop in and love it...It's like a fast food service without the drive through...You stand at the counter wait maybe 5 mins and get your food and your own refills.They have like 4 counter people and 3 cooks and your order is placed within seconds... Oh they have Logan berry on tap and others on free refills and unlimited sweet and dill pickle slices... A tad pricey but worth it...Maybe 20% higher then I like to spend.. read more

I usually do takeout..I have never had a bad fish fry there and I won't get one anywhere else. Their burgers are huge and delicious with any topping you want. The staff are amazing and attentive. How they remember everyones order is beyond me! I love this place. I had been there a few times before but yesterday put the icing on the cake...my husband's mushroom & Swiss burger was under cooked. I took it back up to the counter and they remade it for him, but the kicker was that they also refunded my money and apologized for the error. Now that is customer service. Charlie's has always been one my all time favorite Hamburger places. For more then 35 years this has been a must place to eat for me and for me that means when I go to visit Webster, NY. I now live in the San Francisco Bay Area but I grew up in Webster and moved to CA in 1986. On my visit to Webster in August I ate lunch at Charlie's almost everyday. It is a wonderful Family restaurant and I hope everyone gives them a try. My favorite is a Provolone cheese burger off the char broiler, on a hard roll with Onion rings. Also try Charlie's hot sauce. Went there for a quick dinner last night for the first time. Super fast service, great food, decent prices. All the people that worked there seem to be nice and friendly. For as busy as it was, I got my order in and received my food fairly quickly. Plenty of room to dine in for couples or families. I had the mushroom Swiss burger with bacon and a side of chili cheese fries. It was very delicious and the burger had loads of flavor. And they give plenty of fries. I will definitely be going back to try the other many items on the menu read more

Been visiting Charlei's since they first opened in Webster in 1969. In fact, we were customers at the hot dog stand Charlie cooked at on the old sand bar in Sea Breeze. We go back along time. We were shoping in Ontario NY, on Black Friday. We made our usual stop at the Charlie's in Ontario. It seems the counter crew and the entire staff here are more interested in socializing more than making sure the customers are properly taken care of. We placed our order and waited while our server, took an entire other order from a very large group, next to us. We waited an unusual amount of time for our order. When our server finally got back to us, our order was all wrong. She did not order my burger on the right roll, she forgot our gravy, my chocolate milk, and our order of well done fries. It appeared, she was too busy shooting the breeze, with the other help. I know Charlie himself, is at this location, daily, to make sure it runs well. I have heard there were problems early on at this location. (However, he was not there at the time we visited,14:17.) Therefore, Charlie had to step in to fix things. The food is always excellent, but the service here, always is no where near the service at the Webster location. We feel that we may stop visiting the Ontario location. Things need to be addressed here and soon. The counter help needs a swift kick in the butt. And the grill help needs to concentrate on getting the orders correct and stop socializing so much. Hope this gets things moving in the right direction. read more

OMG.. so good. I just had a mushroom burger by far the best tasting burger meat under $10 and it was only $5. Smashburger is crap, they just mask it with add ons. Grays is ok five guys is great. These guys are the BEST. read more
