You go in, you order at the counter, you wait outside for your food because there is no room to wait inside. They've been busy most times I have been here. There's also normally not a ton of people working so expect a wait when you order. You can call ahead to place your order though. They have the best fries around. My friends enjoy their garbage plates and their garbage plate wraps, which is literally a garbage plate in a giant tortilla. Definitely a quintessential Rochester/Pittsford place. Rochester food has never set the world on fire for anything really...but if you want a Garbage Place (lovely name) this is one of the better places to get them (I haven't had one in many years...full disclosure). The good news is, everyone working here has a mask. The bad news is, none of them are wearing them and when they are "wearing" them, it's not properly. This is not acceptable given everything that is going on, especially in the area. Many areas of Rochester just entered into the "orange zone" a few days before I visited Hungry's. To see people working at an establishment, knowing a. how small a space they are in, b. how serious things are right now, and c. that they are handling other people's food, and not be taking this seriously is concerning. They all had them off when we walked in (have we not learned Covid is airborne?) and only some cared to put them on when we did. Those that did literally only had them on below their noses which, pro tip, is the same as not wearing a mask. You are not stopping any germs from escaping your body if you are breathing and your nose is exposed. On top of all this, I was so disappointed that the second of two times I was here recently, it took what felt like an eternity for anyone to even acknowledge us, which is crazy when you're already in such a small space. my family and I have been getting food from here for many many years, but as the years when on the food has been getting worse. The other day we ordered 5 plates, three of the plates having the meat sauce, and from the first few bites we new something was not correct, and that night the three of us got sick from it and had the worst night of our lives. When we called the next day to tell them about what happened, we were promised a phone call by one of the managers but there was no phone call back. also the potato's were the most burnt they have ever been. I stopped in for a much needed plate wrap about one year into the COVID-19 pandemic and was disappointed to see how little they had done to protect both their staff and customers from the spread of the disease. Although the staff were wearing masks, there were no plexiglass barriers in the small space. They had no floor markings or other signage encouraging physical distancing and no hand sanitizer available. I will not return until after I am fully vaccinated. read more

Hungry's is great. Just provides the best plates you can get in Pittsford as well as other great classics like wraps, hot dogs, and burgers. It's my go-to place for comfort food cravings whenever I'm in town. Obviously, not the kind of place you go to very often though as even a mildly health-conscious adult. But whenever I go, it brings me back to my high school days and just good quality meals. As for basic recommendations beyond the plates, just know that Hungry's small size is indicative of the experience. This isn't the place to come to and order to be served immediately. It takes time, especially if you have them deliver (which I have done at night on probably too many occasions). Plan ahead when you order and be patient. It also doesn't really have places to sit, so you're basically doing takeout. read more

I'm slightly annoyed, ok really annoyed that they opened a Pittsford Hots in the village as this is the original Pittsford Hots. Those young whippersnappers at the high school won't know the difference though in a few years and then this place might start to struggle to stay in business, at least in terms of foot traffic from the high school at lunch. Amazing for late night cravings! Panther sauce is one of a kind at Hungry's and they're meat sauce is very flavorful and in my opinion one of the best components of a plate. A garbage plate in a wrap? Sounds impossible, may even sound disgusting at first. You'd be wrong about both observations. In a big tortilla wrap was a garbage plate concoction filled with flavor. Food came out within 10 minutes while I drank next door watching football. I can't think of a better way I'd want to spend my weekends rather than at Thirsty's next door with food from Hungry's grill. My first authentic Rochester garbage plate experience did not disappoint! Hungry's is a very small grill located in the beautiful village of Pittsford. There is not much standing room to wait if it is crowded, so this is a place i would suggest ordering ahead and picking up your meal. Or, you can order then grab a drink next door while you wait, the bar is conveniently called "Thirsty's" I went for a single cheeseburger plate, with mac salad and french fries, which I was told was better than the homefries alternative. The entire thing was delicious, and the meaty hot sauce is what made it. I can't even imagine the experience of eating one drunk, because eating it sober I thought it couldn't get any better. Went to Thirsty's (an unmarked dive bar next door...also not on Yelp, but since it's an unmarked dive bar I guess I'll let it remain "unmarked" on Yelp). After Thirsty's I was kinda tipsy and went over to Hungry's upon a co-worker's urging. Great drunk food. Chicken fingers, fries, mozzarella sticks, burgers...they got all the fried favorites. Plus for those native Rochesterians, they have a version of the Garbage Plate. Not a fan of these but can understand the drunken appeal. They make everything to order so most everything is right out of the deep fryer or off the grill. One tip...if you order a soda, they ain't gonna hand it to you. Hungry's is super popular among the high school and college kids. It's a little hole-in-the-wall type of place right next to the bar, Thirsty's (same owner). The menu has a wide variety of appetizers, sides, burgers, plates etc. It's quite affordable and the portion size is fair. Also, if you are grabbing a drink over at Thirsty's you can order food from Hungry's and they'll bring it over. LOVE Hungry's! The burgers are juicy and not greasy and the fries are awesome. We probably eat there a couple times a month... whenever a burger craving hits us. As other said this is not a dine in place... the waiting area is the size of a walk in closet. But as long as you are fine with taking food to go this is not an issue. Plenty of parking at the big lot right behind it. I have never had an issue calling in my order (it seems some other folks have... but it has never happened to me). Service is focused but never unfriendly. I wasn't wow'ed the one time I had their boneless wings. I would love to see more dessert options as well. I still need to try their plate, and I hear the plate wrap is amazing. Overall I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty burger and fries. read more

Maybe I am just spoiled by the mac salad at the basin pub, but this mac salad needs some work. The hot sauce is perfect. The burgers are usually cooked perfect, and the home fries are ALWAYS awesome.
