    Milkshakes
    Marissa M.

Best burger joint around. Their crinkle cut fries are so good! We got milkshakes, we tried the strawberry the chocolate and the cookies and cream, and my God they were so delicious. Their burgers are absolutely amazing. If you haven't been here, they have these huge vats of pickles, both dill and sweet pickles that you can keep refilling at your leisure throughout your meal. This is something I have never seen before and going forward will be disappointed by every burger joint that does not do this. Seriously try a milkshake! They were unbelievable!

I came here to try a Rochester original, the garbage plate. The restaurant was clean and staff were friendly and attentive. Charlie's had a timeless vibe and decor. The garbage plate was excellent and lived up to the billing. The flavors of each of the ingredients (cheeseburger patty, macaroni salad, home fries, meat sauce, ketchup, and hot sauce) seamlessly blended and complimented each other in an unforgettable explosion of flavor. Don't knock the garbage plate until you try it, it is a unique unforgettable dining experience.

Charlieburger, onion rings, lots of pickles and a side of hot sauce. Yum!

I've been going to Charlie's in Webster practically since I was born! Charlie's has one of my favorite "Rochester-Style" burgers, the Charlieburger. Always ordered on a hard roll with everything on it. Yes, it's a bit messy to eat, but that's just part of the experience! Their hot sauce is great, too. Charlie's also has one of my favorite "trash plates" in Rochester, and their plate sauce (different from their burger hot sauce) is amazing...it really has a kick which I love, and they don't skimp on it either! The service is always friendly and super quick, and I'll never understand how they remember your order, and always get it right without writing it down...I'm always impressed! The free vats of sweet and dill pickles are a great bonus...not sure if they're homemade or not, but they have always tasted the same, and I've never found anything quite like them. And they have fountain Loganberry drink...my favorite! Writing this review has me craving a plate from Charlie's now...guess I know where I'm going for dinner!

    Impossible garbage plate
    Jen K.

I read reviews on here about their Impossible garbage plate, so I had to go try it! I am vegetarian, and have never had the typical meat sauce that goes on a garbage plate. So I ordered it plain with the impossible meat sauce on the side. Thank goodness I did because I am not a fan, lol. My husband ate it and said it tastes like garbage plate sauce, so there was nothing wrong with it. Just not my taste. The garbage plate itself was good. The Impossible burgers were a little thin. They could have been thicker. The fries were ok, and the mac salad was good. It was a very good price for an Impossible plate though. And it came with a drink. My husband got a double mushroom swiss burger and also liked it. Ordering online was easy. And when I got there they had curbside pickup, so I didn't even need to get out of my car, which is always nice. We'd both go back.

I haven't been to Charlie's in quite some time, at least 15 years in fact...not because I don't like the food here or anything, because their food was always delicious. Just because it's quite the drive for me and when I'm hungry I prefer to get something a little closer. So what has brought me back to one of my childhood favorite burger joints? Vegetarian Garbage plates!!! I have recently stopped eating meat this past year..about 5 months ago to be in fact..and I swear it has put my diabetes in full remission. Anyways when my brother informed me that Charlie's had vegan garbage plates..I knew we had to try them. I'm literally in the middle of eating it right now as I write this review. That's how good it is...oh my goodness it's amazing...it doesn't even taste meatless...like seriously! How in the fudge did they create something known for being a meaty, fat filled tasty carnivores dream, into a meatless, plant based, vegetarians reality!? Seriously..if you are meatless, plant based, or just trying to cut back on meat...try this "Full Plate" from Charlie's...I'm having a moment with my meatless garbage plate. *_*

The Charlie plate. 5 stars without a doubt!

The garbage plate war in Rochester is a real thing now. Growing up in Rochester there were not many locations for a plate but now they have multiplied ten fold. I used to live in Greece but my parents moved to Macedon so I have begun to grab garbage plates in other corners of the city. Charlie Riedel's is kicking some serious butt in this garbage plate battle royal. They have fast service, ample parking and are located in a nice area. Most importantly their plate is amazing. The sauce is killer and every element is spot on. Their plate is slightly more expensive than the one in the city but they also give you a bit more of everything. The burgers are bigger and the sides are plentiful. I don't want to turn my back on the original but this garbage plate connoisseur is seriously impressed by what Charlie and company is putting out!

    My amazing cheeseburger Plate (2)

I am visiting my brother's family here in town for the week and this is my second visit. I have to tell folks who want to get a quick lunch/dinner that this place is really, REALLY good at what they do. I have been here at least four times in the past two years when visiting and each time I have gotten the same thing. The garbage plate. It's iconic Rochester, since the days when I went to the U of R and would head over to Nick Tahou's Hots and get this along with a hundred of my drunkest fellow students. It's a western NY staple and it still delivers. Here at Charlie's they offer you options. Who doesn't like choices? I go with the cheeseburger plate- two open face cheeseburgers cooked to perfection, with mustard, onions, banana peppers (not something I would have chosen 20 years ago) and their famous hot sauce (I wish they would bottle this up and sell it!) along with my two sides- which has evolved from mac salad and home fries----now tater tots because I need that nostalgia. The plate is $11.99, and is served in a styrofoam dinner box so if you're not going to eat it all you can close up the box and take it home with you. It is definitely more expensive than 20 years ago, but I don't mind. It's a CRAP-TON of food. More than enough for your drunk, hungry party animals, or the working man who needs a hefty portion to make it through their day. Comes with a drink- they have Pepsi fountain drinks so I chose the diet Mountain Dew for the classic 1990's meal. It's two hours later and I am pretty sure I am not going to need dinner. They offer two types of pickle chips to supplement your meal with some acidity...and have little plastic cups (with LIDS, too!) to take some extra pickles or ketchup/mustard with you to your table or home. The little touches are what help take this over the top. I miss being here in Rochester as I have lived in Chicago for 20 years now. But each and every time I visit family I will be back, because this is exactly what I love to remind me of what I remember of "home". The people, the weather, the food...and family. The service is spectacular here. They are ready for the lunch rush, dinner rush- you're not going to wait long for anything here. Also see that they sell ice cream (Gifford's) but I can't even imagine putting anything more down after the plate. WORTH THE VISIT. Try it, you may love it! I certainly do. To the fine folks of Charlie's- if you ever think about packaging your hot sauce, or even your pickles for sale- I am an experienced packaging specialist and would love nothing more than to help get you some retail business because I know that you're going to KILL it. Who wouldn't love "hot sauce" flavored potato chips or a jar of pickles for their home? What about pickle brine bloody mary mix? I can only think of dozens of ideas to continue to expand the legacy of Western NY. Let's do this!

    Italian Sausage Plate (2)

Tried 3 different Garbage plates in the area. Charlie's was great. The burger patties are def the best in Webster. Homefries were perfect. Mac salad had the right amount of sauce. The meat sauce could have had a bit more of a kick. Overall, would eat again.

GF friendly garbage plate (no mac salad)

We thought we'd give Blvd Grill a shot. I would categorize Blvd Grill as a sports bar, as there was a row of TVs above and around the bar showing the games of local interest (Jets and Bills games). My wife and I aren't big sports fans, and we sat at a small casual table along the wall for dinner. The bar area, including high top tables was very busy with people obviously enjoying themselves, but there were plenty of available small dining tables for 2-6 people. TL;DR We were pleasantly surprised. In spite of the casual appearance, the food and drink were excellent. My wife ordered a glass of Riesling, which was semi-dry (I would actually peg right in the middle between dry and sweet) and was very smooth without that slight bite some Rieslings can have. I ordered a Blue Moon on tap. They had a small number of basic and IPA brews available. Not a large, but a reasonable selection. For dinner my wife ordered the Chicken French, which is one of her favorite dishes. She cooks this dish herself frequently, and is quite critical of how this dish is prepared when we go out. In this case, she was very pleased with it. I ordered a pesto cod dish that was on the menu. I found the cod tender and the dish overall very tasty without being overdone in flavor or cooking. As others have mentioned, the food isn't cheap, although on this particular night they were selling wings at $1/ea, but we didn't order wings. The main courses were in the $20-$30 range. Honestly, though, we've eaten at some higher end restaurants recently and Blvd Grill had them beat in terms of food quality in this case. The service was good. Our waitress was a young lady who was courteous and efficient. Maybe the food and service quality vary depending on the day or night, but based on our single experience, we'd definitely visit Blvd Grill again.

We like to sample wines by the flight so we can drive up to Georgetown liquor and get a bottle. None of these were even close to prompting a visit there. For food we had a peach, tomato, quinoa, goat, and kale salad. We also had a cheese flight and I had the spicy meatballs. Expensive and very small portions. Unfortunately, this Mother's Day 5/10/26 experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to leave a review. We had reservations for 3:30 PM on Mother's Day, and in the special request section of the reservation, I clearly specified that this was a Mother's Day celebration. I also requested a quiet or private booth and mentioned that my daughter is vegetarian. Upon arrival, we were seated upstairs directly next to what appeared to be an employee service area. We could constantly hear employees talking, dishes being washed or thrown around, and overall it was easily the loudest table in the restaurant. What made this more frustrating was that another couple seated next to us complained loudly about their table and caused a scene. Although staff initially explained the restaurant was full, they were eventually moved. Meanwhile, we had politely requested a better table in advance through the reservation system, yet because we were patient and understanding, it felt like we were simply ignored. Service throughout the meal was inconsistent and inattentive. It took quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The wine menu presented to me only included wines by the glass, despite the fact that I later saw servers bringing full bottles of wine and champagne to other tables. I wanted to order a bottle of champagne for the occasion, but by the time our waitress finally arrived, I didn't want to complicate things further. Another detail that stood out was the complete lack of acknowledgment for Mother's Day. I overheard our waitress enthusiastically wishing other tables a "Happy Mother's Day" and asking if they were celebrating anything special, yet she never once acknowledged me or our celebration. My husband ordered a piña colada and was told they could not make one, so he settled for a strawberry martini that was overwhelmingly sweet and unenjoyable. We chose not to complain. The food itself, as always, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. However, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. I was planning to order my favorite espresso martini after dinner, but instead the bill was simply dropped at the table without anyone asking if we wanted dessert or another drink. One employee who was handling bread and water service also made us feel rushed. While I was literally still chewing my food, she interrupted to ask, "Should I bag that for you?" It made me feel like we were being pushed out. I was also disappointed that despite specifically mentioning my daughter was vegetarian in the reservation notes, our waitress never offered vegetarian suggestions or asked about dietary restrictions. At most upscale restaurants, this level of attentiveness is expected. The most upsetting part of the evening, however, was what felt like dismissive and unprofessional behavior toward us as Latinos. My husband has an accent, and our waitress repeatedly pretended not to understand him. At one point, after commenting on his accent, she laughed and said, "Or maybe I'm deaf." We found this rude, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. Ironically, despite the poor experience, I still tipped over 20% -- more than $100 from our table alone -- because I did not want to reinforce unfair stereotypes about Latinos not tipping. Black & Blue has always justified its upscale pricing through excellent food and outstanding hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the food remains exceptional, the atmosphere has become extremely loud and chaotic, to the point where it reminded me more of Red Lobster than the elevated dining experience this restaurant once offered. I truly hope management takes customer service more seriously moving forward, because this visit was nowhere near the standard Black & Blue used to represent.

The flavors were bold, the sauces were spot on, and the portions were very generous. Nothing tasted rushed or thrown together--everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The dining area is a bit small, but it has a cozy feel, and honestly, the food is the real star here. If you're looking for amazing Italian comfort food done right, Capone's is definitely worth a visit. We'll absolutely be coming back again.

The servers are not just taking orders, they actually understand the menu, the ingredients, the pairings. You can ask questions and get real answers. At one point I thought, these aren't bartenders, they're scientists. The level of knowledge and attention to detail is just different. The food completely lived up to that same standard. Every single person at the table was happy with their meal, which honestly says a lot. No one was picking around their plate or wishing they ordered something else. The chef clearly knows what they're doing. Everything was thoughtful, balanced, and just really, really good. Quick note on dessert though. It didn't quite match the level of the rest of the menu. Not bad, just not on the same level. If you're trying to be strategic, you can probably skip it and leave happy. Parking is easy, which I always appreciate. You've got valet or you can self park, so no stress there. If you're in Rochester, you really can't skip Redd Wood. It's one of those places that makes the whole dining experience feel elevated without being over the top. Definitely worth it.

For the price, we were completely underwhelmed For starters, we ordered two different cocktails. The May queen was fabulous the bebbo was tasty, but you couldn't taste any gin in it We started with the Lyonnaise salad , smoked beets, Swedish meatballs, tuna tartare and chicken wings The salad was our favorite, the tuna lacked flavor and we detected no smokiness in the beets. The meatballs were light and the sauce flavorful, would've loved a few more June berries. Chicken wings were nicely spiced and no too saucy For the main we shared 2 steak frites- a bit more well done than the medium rare ordered but tender and tasty, fries are great- bordelaise sauce didn't have the depth of flavor I expected. For dessert we shared the lemon poppyseed cake and chocolate mouse. The cake was light and Lemony with a hint of poppyseed flavor. The mousse was very odd- super pale in color and the crunchy bits on top did not pair well with the texture of the mousse Service was attentive, sometimes a bit too much- reaching across the table to fill waters... maybe leave a bottle on the table? It was a completely male staff... Male servers, male, valets, male bartenders. We did wonder where the women were.

I met a friend I haven't seen in probably nearly 17 years for lunch on a Friday. We never felt rushed or pressured to hurry up. I didn't notice much of a wait but it was nearly always full. A good indication of quality. When you first walk in there's a dessert case and they all looked tasty. I knew I was in a good place. They serve breakfast all the time. Score. I had a Swiss cheese omelet I requested it well done because I don't like it runny or slimy-it still was and that's really why I didn't give a 5. I didn't want to be a pain and send it back so I dealt with it. I ate the whole thing, I just wish it hasnt been undercooked. I got the breakfast potatoes. They are exactly perfect the way I like them, some bits nice and crispy and other bits soft but cooked through. (I'm going to come here again because of the potatoes). I had a grilled hard roll and coffee. They offer flavored creamers which I like. My friend got ham and two eggs but added a third with toast. She liked her food as well. I got two slices of rainbow cake to go. Let me tell you-it was fantastic. My mom and I both liked it a lot except this is going to be oddly specific, the blue and green layers, the frosting on the back of them has something EXTREMELY crunchy in the frosting. It felt like those little hard decoration balls and they were very unpleasant. My mother also commented about something crunchy in the frosting so she didn't care for it either. Another reason I didn't go full 5 on my review. The frosting on the other layers up was fine. It was really tasty. The cake was moist and not dried out. I noticed it was pretty popular. The service was good. It was really busy and we tried to flag our server down a few times and she didn't see me and that's okay we were there for two hours and she had a large section and like I said we weren't exactly campers but we were catching up and we weren't her priority and this is perfectly acceptable. Both my friend and I having been in the food industry for over 20 years completely understood. Our needs were never not met. We had what we needed and didn't have to wait long on refills on drinks ever. We will meet again there since we both had a very positive first time experience.,
