My daughter has a sweet tooth and when I found out that we had a place in Rochester that makes crazy big milkshakes, I figured she would love to come get one for her birthday. Things started off great. The servers are very welcoming! We got some water run over, I don't love that they don't have menus and that you have to use your phone. I understand the "convenience" but it's much more convenient to just have a menu. So, we ordered and the pretzel came pretty quick which we got as an appetizer. Four stars it was very yummy, honey mustard was good, queso was good, too much salt on the pretzel though, way too much salt lol, but it was good. Then there was a bit of a wait for our burgers, not forever but a little bit of a wait. The portions are interesting. The fries are shoe string which I personally think is the crappiest form of fry in existence so that's one strike. One of our fries was normal and one of them was bacon and cheese. It was okay but it's a fairly small portion of fries for a $20 dish. As for the burgers we got a plain burger with mozzarella cheese and we got a double burger with onion rings bacon and barbecue sauce on it. They were both good, buns were good, burgers were good, No real complaints but also not like wow I want this again. A bit pricey for what you're getting especially with the slow service.I would say the burgers are similar if a little smaller than Bill Gray's. Then we had a bit of a stumbling block. At this point it was about 5:40\ 5:30 and they were in full swing for dinner Rush on a Wednesday and very understaffed. After half an hour of waiting for our server to come back, I had to get up and go to the bar to order the milkshake. At one point someone came and cleared our dishes and asked us if we wanted more water to which we said yes and they never showed back up. That's definitely a very strong second strike. Bill came to $72 which seems utterly ridiculous for a couple of burgers and fries, a pretzel and a milkshake even if it's a very impressive milkshake. I don't think it was a $20 milkshake. It had an ice cream sandwich on it, two brownie bites and a cosmic brownie. Frosting along the rim with some little candies kind of pressed into the frosting. It looked great and it was good, I just don't think it was $20 good. $15 probably would have been fair. Even though it took them a while to get our order and to get us our milkshake and I had to go track someone down in order to order it they were pretty quick to take our money when it was time to pay the check. They also do one of those awkward things where they have a handheld credit card machine that they pop your card into and set it down while they stand there and watch you put in the tip which I never love. All in all was it interesting? Sure and she really enjoyed it and that's what it was about. I don't see us going back frequently. A friend and I decided to check this spot out on a Saturday afternoon. It's a cute place, but it could use a bit of improvement. The cocktails are inventive, and the food is pretty good. That said, if I'm getting fries with a burger, the fries should be hot. AGAIN HOT FRIES!!! Our food took a long time to come out, and we only found out by asking before we left. We were told they were backed up for a few minutes. Honestly, it would have helped if staff had let customers know they were more backed up than usual we waited quite a while. Unfortunately the cook must have forgotten to press down the meat on our burgers because they were like hockey pucks. I was very much looking forward to a wonderful burger. I thought going to a place that had the word burger in its name would mean that the burgers would be exceptional. It was anything but. The smash burger couldn't have been any worse. It was dry and I know there's not really a way to make them rare or medium rare because they are smashed, but this one looks like it had been beaten to death. I'm also not a fan of having to scan a QR code for my menu. I think it's very impersonal and when one goes out to dinner, part of that experience is to pick up a tangible menu, look it over, and not have to worry if one brought their phone with them. I'm also not a fan of IPAs so beer choices were very limited for me. I prefer a dark ale or something on tap. All in all this was not a pleasant dinner and I have no desire to go back again. Decided to try this place out with 2 of my (young adult) kids. We arrived around 5pm on a Monday night (their hours stated 4pm open) and it was pretty empty. It is a small spot inside but room for maybe 30 or so seats. I did note that it was cold inside and they did have a space heater going. Winter has barely started at the time of this review so I could see this being an issue in Jan and Feb. They serve smash burgers, cocktails and milk shakes. The milk shakes are pricey due to the toppings etc. Averaging around $15. My kids shared 1 and still didn't finish it all. So 2-4 people could split one as a treat. We each got a burger with an extra patty. They got garlic parm fries and I got sweet potatoe fries. The meals were good. Note the individual smash burger patties are on the smaller side so you may want an extra patty (which is an up charge). Honestly for the price they are charging, the burgers should be bigger or come with a double patty already. The Mistletoe cocktail was good, not overpowering (I'd skip the offer to smoke it next time though as the waiter used a gas lighter and that overwhelmed the drink). I'd have made this 4 stars overall but the cold and the prices combined were just a bit too much. I have Celiac disease and it's such a pain to find a good burger bun and fries. I was so happy when my plate hit the table, it was delicious! The bun was so fluffy and held up well and the garlic parm fries were to die for. Could the portions have been bigger? Yes, but after how good it tasted we didn't even care. Two small things: #1 I would have loved a kids menu option for our littles and #2 we were rushed to order both our food and our milkshakes. I had a great experience at Moo'd burger bar. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the dining room. The modern and spacious design was nice, didn't feel crowded despite the restaurant being busy. Our server was so pleasant and brought a good vibe to the experience. I can't speak on the food as I only came for a milkshake. I know it is a burger bar but I do wish the menu option offered at least one chicken sandwich. The milkshake was such a blast! Be warned the milkshake is massive. We were thrilled that a smash burger and milkshake joint was opening up near us on University Avenue! This particular location already boasts Mueller cider House, nine maiden brewery, Black button, as well as Living Roots right down the street. I believe the place just opened up last week! There is plenty of street parking as well as a lot with additional parking spaces off street next to the building. With regards to the ambience, there is a bar with plenty of seating, two TVs if you want to watch sports while you enjoy your meal or beer, as well as several tables with more traditional seating. The decor is modest but appropriate for the vibe they are going for. They had have several options for burgers and we opted for the Moo'd burger (classic cheeseburger with pickles) with extra patty and a Hot & Sweet burger which was served with pepper jack cheese, fresh jalapeño, and drizzled with hot honey. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I was hoping this burger would scratch the itch. Fries are included which was a bonus as some restaurants now charge extra for this! options for fries are sweet potato or regular, with an additional cost of 1 dollar for garlic parm fries and 2 dollars for onion rings if the that's your fancy. My partner really enjoyed the mood burger! Unlike other smash burgers in the area he felt it was less greasy and very tasty, albeit not spectacular. If you are craving an old fashioned cheeseburger this is it! I thought the pricing on the burger was appropriate at 13 dollars with addition of 3 dollar for the extra patty he ordered. I really enjoyed my burger but it was not spicy (maybe my taste buds for spice have too high a threshold!). I actually preferred the Moo'd burger - I think the cheese really brings out the flavor of the burger. The sweet and spicy burger left something to be desired - perhaps a spicy ranch or spicy mayo? The price was also quite steep at 18 bucks and I thought this was not quite up to par with the Moo'd burger. The garlic parm fries were enjoyable, I just wish they were a little bit more crunchy. We were also pleased to see a variety of beer on tap, including local and domestic beers. They also have a cocktail menu however we did not try this today. Finally, if you are looking for dessert, they have a great selection of milkshakes, which could probably serve a table of 4 to 6!! we did not order this today, but will definitely make another stop for it. Overall, we enjoyed the burgers at this new restaurant. If you enjoy a simple burger without too much fanfare with a variety of profiles, I think you will enjoy this place. My experience at Moo'd Burger Bar was extremely disappointing and honestly very uncomfortable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we were seated, the table was dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we politely mentioned it, we were met with attitude. We were also rushed to place our order before we even had a chance to look through the menu. I ordered a milkshake with liquor and specifically asked beforehand if I could get a to-go cup if I couldn't finish it. The waitress told us that would be fine. Later, when I couldn't finish the drink and asked for the to-go cup, I was suddenly told no. What made the situation even more concerning is that my friend ordered the exact same milkshake and was allowed to get a to-go cup for hers with no issue. On top of that, instead of the original waitress speaking with us directly, a Black waitress was sent over to talk to us, which made the situation feel even more uncomfortable and dismissive. Between the dirty table, the attitude when we spoke up, being rushed to order, and being told something different after we already ordered, the service was extremely unprofessional. The inconsistency in how we were treated left us feeling very disrespected and unwelcome. I truly hope management looks into this and works on treating all customers with respect and fairness. read more

Such a disappointing experience. I was excited to try a burger with a gluten free bun and a dedicated fry fryer, but I won't be going back. When I arrived (7ish on a Wednesday), the dining room was messy and it was unclear if I needed to order and then sit, or wait to be seated. Although the staff were friendly, there was not much interaction or warmth. The burger itself was good, but the fries we almost burnt. My biggest complaint was the wait time! It took AN HOUR to get 2 burgers and fries. These are smash burgers and should not have taken an hour to make. The staff gave a discount for the inconvenience, but I can't recommend going here. Hopefully they will get things figured out because there were several parties upset with the wait. The gluten free bun was good and cost $2 on top of an $18 burger.
