    10. Triple Delight in Garlic Sauce Special 20. Dim Sum Roast Pork Bun
    Darren G.

Service here is very speedy, let me tell you, the guy at counter was to the point and made sure he got your order right, asked if you needed utensils and sauces, plus was sure to thank you. The dim sum roast pork buns were delicious, pillowy buns, filled with savory BBQ pork, very rare to find a place that makes them, only the second place I know that does. For the daily specials menu section I like the concept since I know not everything can be on the lunch menu, but that section fills in the gaps. For triple delight in garlic sauce, all proteins, were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed there was even amount of meats, between the shrimp , chicken and beef. Veggies got treated well in the menu, plus plenty of garlic sauce. Now the pork fried rice, let me tell you, definitely will not order again and do white rice, I mean the rice was pretty bland and just overall it felt like a afterthought to them when making it and you can tell taste-wise. Otherwise this place is pretty solid and treats the community well. Definitely will have grab another pork bun when am over that way.

    4. Scallion Pancake

Delicious Chinese spot. A hometown favorite for good reason. All our staples are delicious here: fried rice, lo mein, seasame, kung pao, scallian pancake. I will say the last time we ordered fried vegetarian dumplings and they were sooooo off- definetly not fried and they were very bready/doughy almost like buns? Skip those but otherwise you've got a whole menu to chose from!

    57. Singapore Rice Noodles

The food from this spot was actually pretty good! I don't like Chinese food from just every where. Some of it tastes super greasy and makes my stomach turn. This was not the case here. The chicken and mixed veggies had a cleaner taste. It wasn't drowning in greasy sauce that usually saturates everything. There was a light coating and that was just perfect. The Singapore rice noodles were just so delish! They were nice and spicy, just like I like them. All of the spices were perfect and the serving is just massive. The noodles were nice and tender and the meat and shrimp was exactly as I'd hoped. Everything was really good and this will likely be a go-to spot. The prices are pretty average but the quality tastes a lot better. I really enjoyed my meal!

Quite a lot of well made and tasty items tonight.

Many years ago, there were several Chan's Peking restaurants in the Poughkeepsie area. I recall having lunch frequently at one which billed itself as "Chan's Peking V." Looks like there's only this one in the area now. I don't if they downsized, consolidated, or had some sort of "Last Chan Standing" contest. I could see this one having won that. We ordered quite a lot for this first order, including 2 soups, steamed vegetable dumplings, "dim sum," an orange chicken combo platter, and moo shu pork. It came with all the expected extras such as rice, dumpling and plum sauce, fortune cookies, fried noodles, and enough packets of soy sauce, duck sauce, and mustard to handle three times this much food. The food arrived still warm and ready to eat. The hot and spicy soup is simply billed as "hot," and it does have a small but not overwhelming kick. The steamed vegetable dumplings have a much thicker batter and are good but better with the dumpling sauce. The orange chicken was also slightly doughy and could have had a bit stronger orange flavor but also had some kick due to what looked like small amounts of hot pepper mixed in - enough to add flavor, not overwhelm. The best part of the meal was the "dim sum" appetizer, which was actually pork shumai. I'm not sure why they don't just call it that, unless what they serve for this appetizer changes from time to time. The moo shu pork was great, but the pancakes were too dry and fell apart on assembly. While I didn't have it this time, one of the other things that I recall always being good were their noodle bowls. As I recall, it's just different enough from traditional pho to need to be called something different, but still just as tasty. All in all, everything I've ever had at any Chan's has been quite good - it's too bad this is the only remaining one, but I'm glad it's still around.

I revisited Chan's Peking. I ordered the same dish. I found Chan's Peking to be a terrific place to eat. It remains my favorite in the area.

The Chinese food was all just average, not bad but nothing special. The wonton soup did not really have any flavor.

Prices seemed reasonable, and location is prime for easy parking. The restaurant was pretty full when we arrived around 6p. We were told to sit anywhere, so we looked for a comfortable two top. We found one in the back, along side some counter top seating. The server delivered the menus and promptly asked for our beverage orders, honestly the way she said it I expected a full bar but no.. just bottled soft drinks, water and tea. I decided on a pot of green, a steal at $1.50/ pot or person. Refills on hot water graciously given throughout dinner. My wife was happy with water. We ordered the Chicken Lo Mein ($11.99,) Shrimp & Cabbage Dumplings ($15.99) and Pork & Cabbage Dumplings ($11.99.) The Lo Mein came out like the speed of light and piping hot. The Pork and Cabbage Dumplings followed right behind, it was then we knew, we ordered way too much food, and we hadn't even received our Shrimp dumplings yet. The servings are large for the price! What a good problem to have right!?! LEFTOVERS! We had enough time before the Shrimp dumplings came out to consolidate plates as the table was quite small, with the two serving plates of food, my tea pot and cup, both water cups, a napkin holder and a large wooden holder for sauces. Our table was at capacity. I looked at my Wife and knew she was thinking the same thing... "next time we'll do take out!" In my opinion this location for Palace Dumplings is strictly for the college crowd or the super casual diner. I thought the food was really good, but the dining experience not so much. Service was kind but the whole place was kinda sticky, bathroom wasn't clean enough and the seating is mildly uncomfortable. Overall a decent spot for a dumpling craving. Signed, The Happy Hour Huntress
