My daughter was sick, so soup was on the menu in a very big way. To clear up the sniffles - opted in for hot and sours, it's too spicy, mix it with egg drop. My daughters favorite, was wonton with sturdy, wonton, dumplings, the broth is just what's cold for on a cold winter day or when you're just under the weather.TIP: this is more of a takeout or have delivered place. The kitchen is functional for both. They are located at the foot of Spackenkill at the intersection of Route nine. Parking is limited Wonton Soup. Lomain read more

Ginger Chinese Restaurant - the menu of the restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

The food from this place is straight garbage. You'd have to be drinking to think other wise. The chicken was pre fried and still not good. The pork fried rice was crunchy and lacked flavor. We must be living in our last days when the Chinese can't cook good Chinese food. P.S. The Singapore rice noodles were very dry and noodles stuck together. What a waste of my time and money. read more

I really like this Chinese take out. The food is tasty and hot, the house spicy sauce makes the dishes more tasty. I didn't get a chance to try the seafood or other meat, but take out time was reasonable. I will definitely come back again read more

Tried this place recently and we really liked it. The staff is friendly, the food was flavorful and portions are great. We ordered chicken with broccoli in a garlic sauce ( the broccoli was slightly over done) sweet and sour chicken (so yummy) and a Singapore mei fun (thought it could use some more spice) Ill definitely recommend this Chinese takeout restaurant, and I am exited to come back and try other dishes! read more

The bourbon chicken .. DO NOT GET .. go to the mall .. tried it twice no flavor super tough rubbery chicken everything else seems to be decent read more

On my way through POK, I was searching for a good place to get dinner "on the cheap" with plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from. I had just enjoyed some "Happy Hour" refreshment "on the cheap" (half price drinks) at the Sonic Drive-In several miles up the road with quite a "sugar rush" from that "RT 44" size Cherry Limeade Slush with plenty leftover. Anyways, for dinner, I finally decided on Chinese and after reading mostly positive reviews of Ginger Chinese Restaurant (on other websites), I decided give this place a try for dinner takeout. Ginger Chinese Restaurant is tucked in a small strip plaza next to Subway on US Route 9 North, just north of the Spackenkill Road (NY 113) interchange. The place is not fancy and geared towards takeout and delivery with a takeout counter & open kitchen and a small dining/waiting/storage area with only a couple tables inside for eating in and big metal shelves line the wall with bulk restaurant paper products and supplies. The menu offerings including lunch specials and special dinner combinations and prices can be seen at http://www.gingerchineserestaurant.com/index.cfm?page=ourMenu They also accept Marist Money and major credit cards. I ordered C22: Eggplant with Garlic Sauce ($6.75 plus tax) served with pork fried rice and egg roll. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. The food was really good, which was hot & fresh and very tasty. The Chinese eggplant was soft, cooked with a mix of fresh vegetables (including green peppers, onions, carrots) in a spicy garlic sauce. The fried rice (yellow color) had a soft/firm texture with tender roast pork cubes, scallions, and sauteed onions. The egg roll was crispy on the outside (slightly greasy), stuffed with cabbage, ground pork, and seasonings. I actually finished up the good sized portion of food along with the "monster size" slush, as I enjoyed my dinner break in the "air conditioned" rental vehicle checking out the hundreds of stations on the Sirius radio (I need to get one for my real ride back home). Temperaturewise, it was just too hot and very steamy inside the restaurant to enjoy my dinner. I would definitely return to Ginger Chinese Restaurant if I happen to be in the area and have another hunger for Chinese food at a very fair price. Solid good find! (4.3/5.0 stars) read more

Your typical fast food Chinese restaurant. Been here many times without any issues. And I do ask for a modified order, and they make it without any issues. read more

17 minutes.... 2 bags..... 2 dishes 1 cup One thoroughly satisfied customer. Fastest, best Chinese I have ever dug my chopsticks into. read more

The vegetarian options are really good; the boneless ribs are decent; but I didn't care for the shrimp & broccoli. Best part: it's the closest to the Holiday Inn so it'll do. Prices are very reasonable and service is efficient. I would go back if I'm in the area again. read more

Decent and pretty typical for Americanized Chinese food. Sesame chicken was fine but didn't have many sesame seeds. They didn't include our soups that are supposed to come with the lunch specials. Won't return. read more

I tried this restaurant last night because I had a craving for American Chinese food. Even though they didn't have high ratings, I thought I'd give it a shot. Big mistake. I went to the restaurant and placed my order and waited, I live less than 2 miles from this establishment and by the time I got home the food was cold and amazingly tasteless. I have never had spring rolls that tasted only like fried Filo dough. The wonton soup dumplings were basically just flour with no discernible meat inside. The sautéed vegetables with bean curd were edible but if I hadn't been so hungry, I would've thrown it away. I threw half the food out because it just wasn't worth it. I know Poughkeepsie is not like New York City in terms of restaurant choices, but this place really left me dissatisfied on so many levels. read more

I will eat almost anything. However, this was one of the most disappointing meals ever. I ordered Bourbon Chicken. Horrible! The chicken had a hard rubber consistency. Tasted like freezer burn. There was no taste of burbon. Instead it tasted like watered down chicken broth replacing the burbon. Disappointed! (bourbon chicken is better in the food court at the mall. I won't be returning to this restaurant. read more

I have been ordering from this restaurant for years and never had issues up until recently. The lunch specials include soup and I did not receive it. When I called the restaurant to inform them that they forgot to bring me my soup, the woman on the phone said it was my fault, I needed to specify when in fact I did! She made it seem like it was an inconvenience for her driver to bring me the missing item. Instead of all of the nonsense, they could have easily called me to confirm instead of not delivering what I ordered. Poor customer service and to blame a customer for their mess up is unacceptable! I will no longer be ordering from here. read more

I tried to order 2 times online and both times my order was immediately canceled. the second time they called and said i was out of their delivery zone of 2-3 miles when i live under 3 miles away and no where on the website does it say this information. so 2 times i wasted my time to go through the checkout process just to have it cancelled. read more

Food is great and they're quick and courteous--highly recommend. I used the online ordering function and it was easy--order came out perfect. read more

Staying at hotel and we didn't want to go out for dinner, so went on line for yelp reviews. the hotel desk clerk recommended another, but a 1 star rating had me look further on my own. I found Ginger had good reviews and ordered - they said it would be @ half an hour and within 35 minutes they were here; and the order was 100% correct. Delivery to hotel, they should have packed some plates and plastic ware - needed to go to the hotel restaurant to get some. The Ribs were OK, typical chinese ribs; shrimp with lobster sauce had very nice shrimp - sauce was salty and a little "runny"; the nice surprise was Eggplant with garlic sauce... delicious. we ordered Brown rice which is a nice option vs. white rice. Overall, we definitely were satisfied. read more

Ordered from this place over thirty times in the last few years. I've tried most Chinese places in the area (Pleasant Valley, Poughkeepsie, Wappingers, Fishkill, and Hyde Park) and this is the best overall. Many people who try this with me, also agree. The food is great, and I've tried many things on the menu. My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken. Seriously good. The staff is nice and always offer me free soda after a $15-20 order. The delivery man is always amiable and speedy! For good Chinese food, Ginger Garden is the best in Poughkeepsie. read more

I have been ordering here for about 5 years now, and I never have had any complaints. They are very thorough on the phone when placing the order, and the food is always ready in under 20 min. As far as normal Chinese food take away places, this one is very good. read more

The best take-out Chinese place I've found in my area. Food looks & tastes fresh. Never had a disappointing order from here.

ive tried many chinese places here in 22 yrs that i moved here lately this is my go to for sure !!!! everything is good so many places got so bad but im happy with them and i order through grubhub as im disabled and its always hot and fresh read more

I love chinese food not so much this one but they deliver quick. Wait staff is very nice.

Good flavor here. The Roast pork egg rolls are on point here, not the biggest in size but the flavor is what makes you keep coming back. The lomain is another favorite. And they have bourbon chicken. The best in the area. It's family operated. The parents cook and the kids take orders and cash out. It's always fast and ready by the time I get there. read more

Food is good - delivery is horrible. Ordered via Grubhub. Delivery listed as 45 mins (only 1/2 mile away). Food arrived 1 1/2 hours AFTER the listed time. I called while still waiting, and they told me "very busy." Driver who delivered said he got lost... Really? If you drive for Grubhub, how about you invest in a GPS! read more

This place is an average Chinese place. Their food isn't especially great, but it's cheap and they're nice people.

I rarely write a negative review I was very disappointed with our food. My Girlfriend had the beef broccoli and did not taste good at all and my boneless spare ribs were burnt and I didn't touch the rice they all were bland and won't order from them ever. read more

I order from this place all the time! Best takeout in the area! I recommended this place to all my friends and now they won't order from anywhere else! Fast delivery too! read more

Not good food. The boneless spare ribs were burnt, over cooked, horrible. I was also charged for my soda, which should have been free according to the restaurant. Why was I charged? I ordered through GrubHub. The only item I semi liked was the wonton egg drop soup. I don't recommend this restaurant. read more

I've ordered a few times and have been happy with the food. Fast delivery. Friendly staff.

This is by far the best chinese ever! They make their dumplings with pork and shrimp and they are outstanding! I live 15 minutes from this restaurant and have to pass 10 others to get there, but it is well worth the drive! They are so great that they even will deliver if its a sizeable enough order. My roommates and I have ordered everything on the menu and we are never dissappointed! The chicken and broccoli is all white meat and fabulous! The rice is fluffy and never greasy! Definately the best chinese take out around!! read more

Just received our order from Ginger Chinese Restaurant on south road Poughkeepsie, and I must say that it SUCKED!!!!!!!! The General's chicken smelled like chemicals and tasted/looked like it came from a box! The cheese wantons had no filling in them at all. The pork lo mein was loaded with salt and some of the pieces were only half cooked. All of the food had a funny chemical odor!!! We wound up throwing all of it in the garbage. I called and informed them that we would not be patronizing there restaurant going forward. Tom P read more

My family, and I, enjoyed two take-out meals from this restaurant during our recent stay. The food was good, and not too salty or greasy. We enjoyed each dish, and would certainly go back there again. read more

Typical chinese takeout, they have online ordering which is convenient and not very typical of these sorts of places. Sometimes you are just too lazy to even use a phone and have to talk to people, although they usually speak good english which is also a plus. read more

The food was just plain terrible and nobody in the restaurant cared that I had such a bad experience. I ordered pork fried rice and I was brought rice with nothing in it. The employee told me that she would put more in next time but there wont be a next time because the rice was very mushy and didn't contain any pork whatsoever. I asked to speak with the manager and I was told the manager didn't speak a word of English. Why is he even working in the United States if he isn't even capable of speaking to his customers. These people shouldn't own a restaurant if they don't know how to cook or how to manage one. read more

Might be the worst Chinese food of all time. Extremely bland. Could be a gold mine given it's proximity to IBM & MKMG. Please go out of business or get new owners. Spackenkill deserves real Chinese food. Not sure the chicken is chicken, not kidding. read more
